Honda Owners - Love the reliability / Harley Owners - Look how much I spent on my bike since I bough it / BMW Owners - Love the handling and the Quality. Who cares what people think. Ride it, enjoy it and then get another brand or model in a few years.

Harley riders only desire is to be continually melt by Harley-Davidson and those writers have more trouble with their motorcycles than any other motorcycle manufacturer in existence So it's better not to even read their comments they only know one thing those lumps upside their head they keep getting from Harley-Davidson LOL ! ! ! 🗨️😅💦

As I have stated before. If you can have only one motorcycle and your riding is primarily street or highway, but you also need long touring capabilities, the Goldwing DCT is the only way to go. Outside of the long, high mileage reliability, it is the other features such as hill hold, forward and backward creeper gear, ect. This is a motorcycle that is as easy to run around town with as it is to run cross country and does it with elegance. As far as rumble and sound is concerned, as we get older and more experienced these things become less relevant. I don't own a GW, but if I get rid of my Victory Bagger, I am more than likely going to look for the current generation GW. I know a few people that have them who have ridden for decades. They have told me that they will never go back to the typical American Bagger. I can tell you when I ride with them, it is me sweating to keep up, not them. Is it a perfect motorcycle, no such thing. But the GW riders I know keep there bikes for decades and rack up a lot of miles. Many of the American Bagger dudes are lucky if they keep theirs more than a couple years. If you can't stand your motorcycle enough so that you are looking for your next one 6 months after you purchase it, you have the wrong brand or motorcycle. A hooker may give you a thrill for a moment, but a beloved wife winds your clock for a lifetime. The GW is the wife!

I have been ridding motorcycles for 55 years .I started out on Honda’s in the early 70’s and purchased my first Harley Davidson in 2004. I purchased several Harleys over the years ,the last being the 2017 Road Glide Special. I absolutely loved everything about the Road Glide and it fit me like a glove. I was out riding and rode past a dealership in Marietta Ga and there was a Bright Blue 2018 Goldwing DCT parked out front. I made the mistake of setting on the bike. I was impressed at how easy the bike was to get off of the side stand compared to the Road Glide. This Particular dealership has a Eagle Rider rental Program. And I rented a 2018 that they had in the rental fleet. I spent the next three days riding in the north Ga mountains and was in love with this bike. The technology that Honda packs into the current Goldwing is incredible. The new Goldwing is the best of all worlds, Sports Bike, Touring Bike and Cruiser. I have finally come to the conclusion that comparing all of these bikes will absolutely make You crazy. I still have my Harley but needless to say it gets ridden to bike night events, and around town. When I am going on a trip or longer rides ,especially in a lot of stop and go traffic I am going to be on my DCT.

You have to spend some time with the DCT Wing to understand it but then it becomes completely natural. After 5 years I've reached for the clutch 2 or 3 times but go for the nonexistent cruise on my other 2 bikes all the time.

When you’ve ridden hundreds of thousands of miles on Wings like I have you form a factual opinion based on real world super long touring trips as in 16,000 miles in six weeks kind of riding. I had a grand total of zero issues with my Wings from Texas to Alaska, from California to Tronto Canada, from the Grand Canyon to Jasper Canada. The Goldwing is by far a big mile eater. I’ve done many many 1000 plus mile days. Many great memories.

I ride a 2006 Harley Ultra Classic I love this old bike it's not fast it's just big and comfortable It just fits me and I fit it.
I had a Goldwing before this one and only Harley I own. I love the Goldwing it was a hard choice to make to decide to get the ultra.
I've owned a lot of different Honda motorcycles three wheelers four wheelers Honda is a great company.
I do love the looks of your bike I think it is absolutely beautiful.
The love and hate of different brands it's not just with motorcycles it's with cars and Pickups just as bad even Farmers, one likes Green Tractors wouldn't have any other color one loves red tractors wouldn't have any other color I never knock someone else's brand just because it's not what I prefer. I've never really been true to any brand of anything. just whatever I like when I'm ready to buy and can afford.
Believe me no brand of anything is even close to perfect. They all have their good points and their bed points.
Harley Riders don't even get along the road glide riders hate the Batwing fairing and the Batwing fairings Riders hates the Road Glide fairing.
Goldwing Riders are the same way in 2001 when Honda come out with the new 1800 all the old 1500 Riders picked them apart. They hated the new 1800 but in a couple years they were all riding them thinking it was the best thing that was ever built.
I guess it's just human nature to be narrow-minded.😂😆😉
Keep up the good content and ride safe.

In Manual mode (which I never use) the upshift is done with the plus paddle and the downshift is also done with the minus paddle. Here is the important part, the downshift is automatically done in Manual mode if you slow down, even going all the way down to 1st gear without touching a thing. This is handy in case you forget. (It happens)

Touring pro-tip I learned from a friend - I bring old t-shirts, underwear, socks and jeans… old items that were destined for the trash. I take them On long rides and toss them along the way. My bike gets lighter and I have more room than when I started the trip.
Also, buy a dry bag and bungee it to the seat.

And for those who like to shift? I've been shifting everything I've ridden or driven for over 45 years and 2.5 million miles. I'd gladly get the DCT. Let the computer do the shifting.

I picked up a leftover 2021 in the same paint as you but in manual about a month ago. I came from a Road King and have owned other Harley's and two Ducati's. I really like this bike but there are a few nagging points. Every storage compartment gets hot, the bags, the up front cubby and even the cubby with the gas release button. My phone has overheated a few times in the cubby when using Android Auto so I am trying to find a work around for that. I found that if I plug it in the left saddlebag without a case it still gets hot but has yet to shut down. However, you need a wireless Android Auto dongle to do that which I already had. I have never liked side opening saddlebags but am learning to live with these. The first thing I did with my Multistrada was replace the saddlebags with Givi Trekkers. I would highly recommend the saddlebag lid organizers. I put them in mine, they are great for holding a bunch of things I typically carry with me. Ironically, I just ordered the same seat as you without the heat but with a driver back rest with the orange stitching. I can't wait to get it. I just did a 1k weekend trip from NJ to WV and it was a blast. In my first month I put 2300 miles on it. The Gold Wing 50th anniversary is coming up so I would expect at least some improvements if not a completely redesigned model for that. Great video.

I’ve owned Harley road glide cvo. K1600. Gs1250. Triumph rocket 3. The gold wing is my favourite bike. It’s not the fastest, it’s not the most powerful, it’s not got the best sound system, it’s not cheap. But as an all round package nothing touches it. My friend has done 250,000 miles on his. Great video! Being a 2018 Gold Wing non tour, 6-speed owner, I can say that a lot of the "hater" gripes can be resolved with aftermarket solutions. I've rarely come across any biker that hasnt done at least one mod on their bike. If this was presented as how the bike is stocked from the factory, then there is something to complain about any bike. Especially HD. Frankly, the only bike i would put up against the Gold Wing is the BMW K1600. And even that bike has disadvantages off the factory floor. That said, my gripes about the Gold Wing are as follows...
    1. AIR FILTER replacement.
    2. How hot it gets inside the side bags and how there are bumps inside the storage compartments that hinder placement of the bags, should you pack them up good.
3 Bluetooth pairing to a headset can get a little annoying when you wanna use carplay or android auto.
    4. The navigation is archaic compared to Google maps or Waze.
    5. Lastly, if your fob dies, the emergency turn-on procedure leaves me wanting to abandon the bike and walk.
These are things Honda should work on to make the great bike even better.
    Just my 2 cents!

A 199 dollars for a belly plate seems like a very low cost for an upgrade because the Harley riders start theirs with about 5K with upgrades. If the Wing rider spends 5K its because he added a trailer. On my 3rd Wing and nothing else will do for me. 43 states and counting. Be safe and have fun.

There is no question in my mind that they are technically and mechanically the finest motorcycle on the road for touring. For me, while the aforementioned is my truth, I ride my Road Glide because of the character and nostalgia and history of the motorcycle. It is a je ne sais quoi situation that is indescribable. It is really not a best/worst situation it is simply what you want out of your motorcycle. Perfectly reliable, smooth, technologically perfect, etc. Honda wins. Spirit, emotion, connection, feeling on the open road, gotta give it to my Road Glide. Anyway, don't hate the Honda, just love the Harley Davidson more! Cheers

Haven't watched you before, just saw the title and I clicked on this video expecting to hate it, and you! However, it's probably the most honest and objective review of a love/hate bike I've seen! I haven't ridden a Goldwing and don't want one but for a start, you can't argue with the quality of construction because that's what Honda lead the bike world in. So they're not going to do a bad job on one of their flagship bikes and the standard of engineering is much admired.
Ugly? As you rightly say, that is entirely subjective in the eye of the beholder. I do like Harleys but I mean look at Harley big-wheel baggers! what are they, some kind of joke? ( but someone must like them, so that's fine by me ). Here in the UK, if a bike isn't usable in twisty roads, it's really not much use and Goldies seem to manage just fine. For long-distance they must be a dream! If you don't like that style of bike ( I don't ) get something else and let others get what they want.

I love my 2017 GL1800. I bought mine on purpose. The only thing I’d change on my 2017 is an electric windshield and apple AirPlay. The two things that stoped me from the new body style was the storage and the damage I’ve seen from dropping at a stand still or under 5mph. The only downside to my 2017 is I had no idea as to the cost of maintenance. If you do the scheduled maintenance when it is due, can range from $100 to $1k. An oil change and new tires can be around $800. But, the range comfort and the nimbleness of the bike out weighs the cost of maintaining it. I have heard that mechanics don’t like working on them because of the time it requires. I love my 2017 GL 1800. I put about 10k miles a year on mine give or take.

For me it just didn't work out. There are lot of other bikes and brands that work better for what i need. I dont hate on any bike or brand and for the most part reliability is good across the board. Just so you know I'm a believer in one bike won't do it all and i have 3. I have a cruiser/tourer, sport bike and a dual sport. If all i was going to do was go on long distance trips the goldwing bagger would be at the top of the list.

Goldwing is built to explore the moon and back and you will want to do it again, as soon as you are back. I never knew that, till I owned my first one ever, in 2020 and till now. I have owned it all, but this baby and DCT is a magical machine. No other bike company, as of now, will change my mind. yes, its not perfect, but yes, to own one. Honda's engineers nailed it so well with the DCT and the goodies on the 6 gen wing.

I have a Harley Ultra Classic Limited and it's like riding an icebox with handlebars and powered by a lawnmower motor, , I wish I'd bought the Goldwing like this one. Wing is more balanced feeling lighter and much better handling, more power, rides much much better, better reliability, parts and add ons cheaper which Honda puts most all you need on their bike while Harley you have to add a lot, and the HD engine heat comes right up on you making it miserable in warm weather. I wldnt even think about a HD over a Goldwing.

well I was riding a 2009 BMW K1200LT. Which in 09 was the fully loaded model if I am not mistaken. A great ride all day bike , however very very top heavy. And yes I dropped it several times at a stand still because of the weight on top more than anything else. It also SMO I oped for the 2021 DCTKED when you 1st started it up. That was a design flaw in the oil returns in the engine no fix for that. Had great bags and large trunk. It even had and electric wind shield . Move now to the new GEN 6 Honda Goldwing 1800. Well now we're talking looks style and grace. the flat 6 has more than enough power, for anyone, The 7 speed DCT transmission with it's 4 different modes is awesome to say the least. Useing the finger paddles is more fun than fingering a clit. I am sure that the 6 speed manual transmission is as much fun. I put the Honda flat rack on the back of mine just so I could load a bag on it when needed. I the mounted to the the Givi holding pins and locking block to that rack and got a Givi 56 Liter trunk . I was out for a week up in the Mt's of NC last April for a week. As soon as we got to the house we were stay at I turned the key on the trunk and left it in the garage the whole time. Road the Tail of the dragon with and without the trunk. as we did it a few different days. and all the other rads that we could find and some we found as new ones which were a hoot. Oh I oped for the 2021 DCT GRAY BAGGER as well.... Oh n yes I dropped it and yes I damaged the Left saddle bag lid. But It does now hinder the way the bike handles at all. And this is my 3rd wing in between several brands of bikes. Da Ol Turtle

Good video! I have a Scout too and love it! Also have a 2018 Roadmaster and it's awesome ... considered GoldWing vs RoadMaster then purchased the Indian -- mainly based on looks. Having said that, clutch cables SUCK (cables on both bikes have left me stranded; twice on the RM)! Am now considering GoldWing DCT for increased reliability and ... I actually like the sport look to the GW so ... may pull the trigger and trade RM; (keeping my Scout, though expect to be stranded from clutch cable breakage again in the future.)

I've rode the classic BMW K bikes for nearly 40 years and every year people tell me what a nice-looking bike it was. I didn't like the square headlight though. Squarish headlights and instruments clusters don't belong on a motorcycle. I would like a V twin though, one that would sit lower to the ground. The old K bikes were too tall in my opinion. They were a light tourer. That's basically the bike I would want is a lightweight touring bike. I like a narrow bike. A quick change from fairing to no fairing would be nice.

Not the maintenance or the lack of performance with short comings on handling. I have two brothers and a cousin plus two uncles that ride Harleys. Ever time we go on road trips I have to work on one of their bikes. I never have to work on mine on any of our trips. FYI my cousin has the stage three performance kit on his harley and it can't bet me in a drag race or top speed even when mine was stock. And after I tuned it up it never even keeps close . On the '18 and newer models, the stock seat sux. I had my seat redone by Russell Day Long, made a WORLD of difference. I also installed a rider's back rest, Gold Strike grips, and Highway pegs. It literally needs nothing else. The complaints about its looks are hideous. The new Wings are far prettier than any of the other touring machines. All of the V-Twins to me look like they were designed in the 1950s, with the exception of the Yamaha Venture. The Indians and Harleys look ancient compared to the Wing. Some may like that look, but I prefer the more modern look of the GW. The complaints about less storage space is valid, but I only travel by myself, so it has plenty of storage space for me. If my wife was going, we'd have to get a tote, or a trailer. The DCT, and all the rest of its amenities easily make it the best touring machine there is...

The Honda Goldwing DCT is definitely pulling on my heart strings for sure, and I’m going to test ride one this weekend! I am not good at history, but I bought my first Goldwing in 2011, it was a 2001 GL1800 with 124 000km on it and 2001 was the year Goldwing put the 1800cc engine in their bike.. In 2014, I fell in love with my 2012 GL1800 that I still have. I sold my 2001 GL with 183 000km without any worries and the 2012 GL I bought was a totaled bike rebuilt that i put more than 140 000 km in it and still running great. What I love with my GL is the great weather protection I have. I already had one day of riding in full rain and could not put my rain gear beacause of the rest of the riders. I was so protected that the only rain I got was from my helmet driping on me. I like to use my gears to help me compress when coming down a mountain and this is why I don't like automatic bikes (although I had a NC750C DCT for 2 months). My 2012 GL1800 is up to 155 643km. I have a 2023 DCT non-tour, just like the bike you are riding in this video. I love it, but I agree that some of the criticisms are legitimate.
    1) The looks. When I first saw it, i did not like the looks of the Gold Wing from the front. I do love how it looks from the side. From the side it has the profile of a shark or killer whale. I've had my GW for 5 months and I've grown to appreciate how it looks from the front. The front view doesn't bother me any more (plus I don't see it when I am riding. :-) )
    2) The side bags. This is probably my biggest complaint. Yes, when you open the bag, what ever is inside falls out. When I bought my bike, there was an option for the internal luggage bag, but I didn't realize that I would need it. I will be buying them in the future.
    3) The GPS. I find the GPS to be adequate. However, my one complaint is there is no way to instantly mark your current position as a favorite. My 2012 VW Passat has this feature in its GPS. In 2023, Honda can't do the same? (note: the Honda dealer showed me a convoluted way to mark your current position as a favorite, but it takes several minutes to accomplish. In my car, it can be done with the push of a button. Easy Peasy).
    4) Lack of Floor Boards. I totally agree with this. I got the "bigger pegs" option when I bought my bike, but they still aren't floor boards. At the end of a long day of riding, my heels are a little numb because they rest on the pegs.
I'll add one more complaint - the one size fits all design. I'm 6'5" tall and I have a buddy who is the same height who bought an HD Road Glide. HD has a "tall boy" seat option which allows the rider to sit a little further back compared to the standard seat option. I wish Honda had something similar.
As to the center compartment being unlockable, I agree with you. I'm glad it can't be locked. If i want something locked, I will put in in the side bags.
All in all, my complaints are minor. Here is what I love about my GW. It is smooth: It is fast. It handles like a dream. When I ride, I travel between 150 to 200 miles. My previous bike was a 2006 Suzuki Boulevard. I remember how my body felt at the end of one of those rides. I was very stiff and sore. Not so on my GW. This past Wednesday, I rode 280 miles. At the end, my butt was a little sore and my heels were a little sore, but otherwise i was fine, and with about an hours worth of rest, I would have been ready to ride some more.
To everyone reading these comments, ride what you want to ride. Because no matter what you are riding, the wind in our hair is all the same.
To those out there who are GW curious, if you think you might like a Gold Wing, I'll bet you will love a Gold Wing.

I have a vintage Wing, 1984. Runs like new. I also have a '01 Valkyrie Interstate. When I go to bike events, my bikes get much much more attention than most of the others, the Wing and the Valk are real attraction pieces. I love these bikes, they are rad as hell, smooth, reliable, handle like a roller coaster, and as you mention, can haul a trailer with ease. You just can't beat them. Anyone who hates a Wing is just mad that they spent 4x the money on a Road Glide, that's all it boils down to. Jealousy.

@@brucehelppie6119 Yeah what a pain. There are mods, but if you commit to replacing it it with a quality one you may never have to do so so again. Thankfully the guy I got mine from already did that for me.

      @@tjclarke4604 I think the 1200s look pretty cool/ better than the 1500s.
Shadetree Surgeon on TH-cam has videos on both and the 1500s look a lot easier to work on.
The performance appears to be way better also.
I had a 1977 Electra Glide. I loved that bike, but it was slow and broke down a lot.
I don’t mind wrenching, but I want to ride and not spend all my time fixing something.

I had a goldwing long ago and will buy another one soon. The Goldwing is the most reliable bike ever. The ones who hate it don't understand you can make of it what you want. (I did it by making a chopper of it, years ago). Motorwise, it will never let you down and give you the most mileage ever, that a bike can give you.

I ride a Harley Electra Glide and a Honda GL-1800. Love them both for different reasons. BUT I am becoming madly in love with the Triumph Bonneville T-120.

People hate it because every rider knows deep down that they crave the idea of being in a club ... most solid clubs are traditional harley only clubs ... had nothing to do with performance or any of that ... your not gonna catch a brother from any 1% roll up on a gold wing ... period ... it isnt the looks ... maybe the sound, or lack there of lol... im sure it rides well ... im sure it out perdorms and so on ... but the deep down truth is that a man never ever ever looks as cool rolling up at a bar or a club or anything on anything other than a dirtbike or a harley .. i slipped in dirtbike for an x games reference... guys ride around with a dirtbike in the truck bed just to pick up chicks cause they are gonna think they are doing 360s off ramps ... guys ride around on a harley.. "lone wolf" patches to mimic a club just to impress... its all about image my friend ... nithing to do with the bike im sure ...if your on a harley and pull up, you are cool ... if you roll up on a gold wing, your a joke ... dont mean its a funny joke ... dont mean its true ... could be a straight up serial killer ... dont matter ... i own pitbulls ... they are notorious for bad rep ... truth is, they will lick a person to death before biting them ... now if your a rabbit or a squirrel... your done 😂... but a robber will see a big pit in the window and pick the next house. .. even though a german shepherd is what you should be owning if protection is what your after ... look ... im rambling ... but i just absolutely know this answer ... guys would rather ride 5000 miles uncomfortable with not as good performance on a harley for the off chance of pulling a chick one day than to ride comfortably on something like a goldwing ... i stand by this long ass comment lol ... harley equals a CHANCE to be seen as a club guy ... a CHANCE to be loud and proud .. the absolute fact rhat your not explaining your chiice to ride a honda and get fucked with at every biker stop .. like is what it is

I have 6 bikes including Harley, Honda,BMW,Yamaha Vmax. The bike I get the most attention on by far is the Vmax. It's not stock either. Even the Harley guys respect it. I have 2 Harleys, and I like them a lot. But for long trips, I'm on the Wing for sure. I actually like my 2017 better than the 2023. The wife prefers the Ultra Limited ( Wilburs suspension ). Rides like a Caddie. I think each bike has a specific purpose, and I enjoy them all.

Had one (2018 model year) for three years and there weren't enough mods in the world to make the bike comfortable for me. The "sport tourer" style is not for me. Eventually picked up a 1993 model year and it's great!
