I brought a Brazilian professor around Melaka historical sites, and he was super interested to know about the Kristang, descendants of Portuguese settlers. He was so excited to know that some of our Malay language were borrowed from Portuguese. Definitely need to preserve such gems in our country.
Precisely.
Diversity is sth that we should cherish
If I'm not mistaken kristang are different from Portuguese descendants. Ask any Portuguese descendants and they will say the same. Forgot why tho.
@@TheHuiwenwhat do you mean ? Different. Did you not read the history the sailors came from Portugal in 1511
@@Lastkid0nEarthI think he means Kristang is different from modern Portuguese. That is because Kristang is 16th century Portuguese which is not spoken in Portugal today.
@@burhanuddinahmad1 I know about that my grandparents and relatives spoke that language but kristang has always been the same . Only difference is the Portuguese language and we know kristang is mix of that and other languages combined
There was a TH-cam couple from Portugal that visited melaka. Kristang language is older so they don't have modern words like aeroplane. In One episode they did a quiz on Portuguese words in malay and I was surprised there were so many lol.
The greatest shock was roda, Kereta and Bomba is borrowed from them. Like before the Portuguese, no wheel, no car no firefighter.
I believe you are referring to the Travelgramers ( Joan & Kristina ).. They have been to Malaysia for a couple of times already. Anyway, good to keep the tradition alive .. Just like the Peranakan culture as well.
Portugal and Malaysia government must give support for this community keep this old portuguese language for more 500 years.
Yes keep malacca Portuguese language alive
Muito Obrigado Sara Santa Maria e muitos parabens pelo fantastico trabalho realizado. Um orgulho para Portugal e todos os portugueses
The gov shud give some sort of grants whatsoever to this community..if there is, its very good
It is a good idea
It's amazing. I would like to know more about your history, for sure there's a moment in the past when the capeverdean and malasyan people shared the language and culture. You are more related with us than the portuguese. It's crazy, I understand everything in your board and in the notes, and unlike you we kept our language, we still speak this way till today. Our governments should do something regarding this, to create a historical arquives for new generations.
i am from goa, india viva portuguese
It’s been quite a long time though I’ve met a few Malaysians. You’ll correctly find that my ancestors never closed The Royal Malacca Sultanate. It was a company set up by my own ancestor that where involved in moving and transporting people from malacca to places around the world from my Ming Empire. Many of these people where Khumbar Prajapati as part of my Cholla Empire that where moved to Portugal. To create a Government in the Spanish Portugal Region. The Portuguese never had there own fleets at the time and learned sea travel from my Cholla Empire and Moghul Empire. As Portugal was made by my Own Moghul Empire that took it over and started making it. Once it was made many of my Cholla Empire People populated it. The Portuguese majority are not Spanish or North African they are part of one of my older Asian Kingdoms. And so they was no one left to write my history so I’ll wrap it up with myself as Sultan of Malacca and the Proof is my Royal Atar Codex of Malacca. There is much confusion over the Hang Tuah legend. As it’s a set of my different active Kingdoms from pre 14th century summarised as Royal Atar Codex.

Hi, hw can i contact miss maria...?..plz advice tq
It should be preserves forever because you can't find it elsewhere. Maybe in Goa where Portuguese used to have settlement there and yet, Portuguese in Malacca should preserves they culture and language. Unique and special. Country like Brazil which speak Portuguese maybe surprised that the original and older version Portuguese language does exist in Malaysia.
Very good. Mohon ada juga kelas BM. Nampak teruk sangat MP nak cakap Melayu pun teruk samgat dalam Parlimen tu. Malu wei
This is about malaccan Portuguese, maybe shut up for once?
@@blancdespair7678Have u forgotten the Malaccan Portuguese is also Malaysian? They really should indeed learn BM too. Even us,in Sarawak, the Dayak ethnic which is majority christians can speak Malay fluently. BM is not only a language for malays but for the whole malaysia to master.
Apa kena mengena kaum Kristang ni dgn MP yg tak mampu bercakap BM dlm parlimen?
Cuba awak buka kelas bm

@@maryannestamaria9039exactly wth is this person talking
@@maryannestamaria9039 i think he was asking whether these kristangs are originally directly descended from the Portuguese or the Goan creole
am from Goa.. somewhere we are all linked- i guess. Portugal itself is probably a mix of Arab and northern and southern European and eventually we all probably come from one single woman out of Africa. Celebrate our diversity though.
Org negara sebelahlah ni...
