Protect the Portugese population and their culture please. Stop destroying what is so beautiful and historical. Malaysia will never be unique without all these unique people who are part of their history.
The Serani of Malacca are 100% Malaysian. They belong to a culture that is so unique to this part of the world. The Portuguese Settlement must be conserved and cherished for what it represents.
I chose to visit Malaysia, and specifically Malacca, because of the vibrant mix of cultures in the country. And the Portuguese culture and settlement was a strong attraction. It would be a loss to Malacca and Malaysia if this settlement and the culture that comes with it is lost.
Keep your Kristang heritage and don't let Kuala Lumpur destroy it. Land is an obvious excuse to destroy your very important history.
Melaka shouldnt touch the heritage againn... so much lousy reclaimation..empty building.. slow development.. why should they reclaim more land? The attraction of melaka is the essence of history. Not the lousy development . Nak buat dev pun sungguh2 lah make it real. MP/DP area pun tak well maintain ada hati nak develop so much thing . meh.
It should be preserved with the status of a historical Monument ( settlement)

The Malaccan Creole Portuguese “Kristang” is classified as a severely endangered language, with only about 2,000 speakers.

Not Malay only. Not all are mixed with Malay. They mix with other races in Malaysia too. Some are pure Portuguese too.
They are the living testimony and heritage of Malaya and Malaysia.
