- In this video I break down every character who has missed their final chance to be in Super Smash Bros... forever. With Sora being Smash Ultimate's final fighter I've realized that there are many who absolutely needed to get in now, since by the time a future Smash game comes out their time will likely be up. Which characters still have a chance and who will likely never be in Smash? Let's find out.

It's my personal belief that Nintendo didn't plan on doing a 2nd dlc, but things happened to change that. In this scenario, Steve was supposed to be the final DLC character but the team couldn't figure out how to do the building thing in time. Once they decided to push Steve back they needed an easy to design character or two (enter Byleth and Min Min). By that point, they were able to get the rights to Sora, so Steve shocked everyone as the second character of the second DLC. That's why there are so many more first party characters in wave 2 rather than wave 1.
I totally agree with this. It’s why Byleth’s reveal and inclusion felt odd and rushed. Though my opinions have changed since I wander how long it really took for Nintendo to really collaborate with Disney since they knew from the beginning that Sora was the most request character.

pretty sure the fighters pass must have included at least one first party so then the discount you get for buying the whole pass doesn't go to any third party and they get nothing for licensing their property.
Buy fighter pass 1, get 4 third party characters, Byleth is free - Nintendo takes the hit for the hype DLC
Buy fighter pass 2, get 4 third party characters + 1 first party, 2nd first party is free, take your pick - Nintendo still takes the hit for hype DLC. Plant, Byleth, Min Min, and Pythra we're all most likely decided to be relegated to DLC to subsidize licensing costs. nothing to license when it's your own property.
While it is true that brand new characters often get picked, being outdated doesn't kill off a characters chances.
They added Ice Climbers, Mr. Game & Watch, R.O.B., Pit, Duck Hunt Duo, King K. Rool, Dark Samus, Chrom, Wolf, Ness, Lucas, Simon, Richter and Banjo & Kazooie, when they hadn't been in any games for a while at the time
Correction: Lucas first appeared in Mother 3 in 2006, which was only 2 years before Brawl
But almost all of them are icons on some level. Characters like Waluigi have just become memes because someone actually wanted them in, but their hopes get crushed every year.

Ness was in the original Smash, Ice Climbers were considered by Sakurai as Nintendo's springboard to greatness, and Banjo and Kazooie were second in terms of votes.

Sora was first, Banjo 2nd, Bayonetta 3rd, Shantae 4th, Rayman 5th,,6th Shovel Knight,7th Snake,8th Geno,9th Goku, 10th Phoenix Wright for 3rd Party characters
For first party it was Chrom 1st, Daisy 2nd, K Rool 3rd,Inklings 4th, Waluigi 5th, 6th Issac, 7th Roy, 8th Crystal, 9th Young Link, 10th Ridley
@EPIC CHARLIE :D I think it's safe to say Banjo and Kazooie placed at least in the top 3. They've been heavily requested since Melee

I 100% thought Mario would link the first flame and it would be a Dark Souls character. The way the fire looked was straight out of the game

I Lost interest in the series a while ago but I still wanted my boi Jibanyan in. I Mean I am honestly surprised that Yo-kai didn't get a rep considering that when they were deciding on the roster was around the same time Yo-kai was at peak popularity.

I've never understood the fascination with geno. Like, I get that his design and home game are great but, it was a single game. I'm genuinely curious as to why people care that much.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've heard, It all started when the community found out that he was planned as a fighter since Melee, kinda like Banjo
Because his impression on people was strong enough, plain and simple. The best example I can provide is Neku from The World Ends With You. It only had one game (not counting the re-releases on the iOS and Switch) for years, but the joy people experienced from playing it gave rise to people wanting him in, enough to the point of having a Discord and subreddit (which has changed over time, but the desire is still there.) While TWEWY eventually got a sequel and as such not only is a franchise now, but also has a recent entry, seemingly increasing his odds of getting into Smash, it didn't happen, but the fans will continue to want to see one of their favorite characters/franchises represented in what is arguably the biggest celebration of gaming and just another overall fun game.
And after a while it starts to become a smash community relevant pick instead of it being so much about his original game with how it's snowballed over the years starting from how close he apparently was to joining in the past

He is just the type of character that sticks with you tbh. Whenever i play Mario and the LOT7S i get excited to get to his part of the game. He is just all aeound fun to play with and fits the mold of giving old gaming characters lost to time another chance in the limelight

Exactly. He's the mascot. The series is about the monsters not the hunters. The hunters don't really matter they are just a means to play. A boss was the perfect way to represent MH.

I disagree but I see where you’re coming from. But just imagine a Byleth type character that switches between different weapons! Hell, add a palico, I don’t care. I just want some form of playable monster representation that isn’t just a costume.

Personally I would love to see another Zelda rep. I honestly hate the fact that We only have Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf while the rest are alternate version of the same character. I really hoping that they could at least add Impa since she’s the most reoccurring character in the series that isn’t the main 3.
Well Sheik has a completely seperate moveset and is now considered a different character in the smash franchise so she's technically a semi-non alt.

What about Ganon? Isn't he a separate character from Ganondorf (or at the very least an *_incarnate_* of him or vice versa)???
I'm not into Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts, literally never played any of them. But I was surprised how strong and fun to play Sephiroth was that I actually went and bought the original FF7.

Actually for MH there is a reason MVCI. The creator was upset with the hunter being the protagonist they wanted the monsters to be repped. They did not want to do any collabs with any other fighting games if the hunter is the main fighter. So that's actually what happened
That's such a strange mindset. We play as the hunters in Monster Hunter. The hunters are arguably just as important to the franchise as the monsters themselves.
That's weird. They say it as if there are other options for possible fighters.
@@nixuniverse5240 of course there are other options, but when it comes to Monster Hunter it makes sense that the hunter would be chosen as a fighter. I can't really see any of the monsters really working in a fighting game.

Sora was really the best possible ending for Smash Ultimate. I'm glad it didn't end on another Mario, Pokemon, or Fire Emblem character, we have more than enough already.
I feel Sora was also placed because of the abmissial previous games he had. Fans were extremely disappointed with KH3 and MOM that this was pretty much doing him justice from what happened in the last two years
As a long time KH fan I really enjoyed 3. The reunion scene between Roxas, Axel, and Xion is one of my favorite scenes in all of gaming. Plus I really enjoyed the Pirates of the Caribbean world.

@@cloudshines812 I dunno about that, looking back now 3 years post 3, with ReMIND under our belts I've heard a lot of turned opinions on KH3 over time, I'll give you at release yeah to a lot of people who expected bigger it was disappointing. But now, I dunno I think the majority feels as if KH3 was pretty good.
@@cloudshines812 I mean, release KH3 was actual garbage, no excuse. But today KH3 is way better, it has an almost as good as KH2 combat, and improved the the story with the DLC. It still has its flaws, but it is way better than vanilla. Is kind of what Animal Crossing New Horizons is undergoing.
You know what made me really sad? Despite having a good relationship with Nintendo, Ace Attorney has absolutely nothing in smash. No assist trophies, no spirits, no music, no mii costumes. I was hoping that Phoenix Wright will at least get a mii costume during the final DLC reveal.

Sakurai and Nintendo said there will never be a next Smash game and this is the last one! And before anybody said this is a cash cow....F-Zero Starfox and Kid Icarus Uprising were as well...so look at what happened to those!

@@ChaudTheGamer F-Zero can kinda substantiate your point as that was a series that sold well enough for them to have reason to continue but despite that they didn't, even if smash has outsold everything F-Zero has and could ever put out, so it's more of a similar situation rather than a carbon copy but... Starfox has been failing for years and the fact that you specifically had to say Kid Icarus Uprising and not the entire Kid Icarus series just shows how we all know that Kid Icarus Uprising is the only one that sold well enough to be at least somewhat of an example, and even then, Kid Icarus Uprising hardly sold too well either, it sold like 1 mil units for a 3DS game made by Nintendo, that's not a good example

I think personally it's not just Monster Hunter not getting in, but we didn't have any Capcom fighter representation in Smash Ultimate except for an echo. Although there are rumors and "gripes" with the developers about having a hunter in any fighter. We didn't get Monster Hunter, Devil May Cry, Pheonix Wright, Okami, etc. none of these highly requested characters didn't get in , but were acknowledged at most.
All I want for the next game is for them to keep Banjo, and bring in Rayman.

The current Smash games already have too many Mario fighters. Even if more DLCs are added, it won't be Waluigi's turn. Waluigi's actual chance should be a new Smash game where many past fighters like Rosalina and Koopalings are gone.
Besides if Waluigi can be DLC, why not add him to 3D World and Odyssey first?

Xbots would get pissed off anytime you even brought up the idea. I seen them say that people were Xbox haters that only wanted Master Chief in Smash for no other reason besides wanting Xbox to be devalued and fail. Thank God Master Chief wasn't included. Halo ain't even big in Japan.
Recently I've felt the only reason that sparked the whole Waluigi for Smash movement was to solely complete the plumber set of having Mairo, Luigi, Wario and Waluigi in the same game together, not an actual desire for the character himself. But overtime that clearly changed, well I think it has anyway.
It's just a meme at this point.
Hey, he's one the most likely characters to get in for the next game roster, i can't wait to see what the next Game does, but nintendo really needs to take a different approach, doing a "everyone is here" again for 60 bucks for a roster of little less of 100 characters might not be that profitable at that point.

There's actually more to the Monster Hunter. The person in charge of the series doesn't like putting the Hunters themselves into cross overs, to the point he initially declined them for MvC3 and almost didn't allow them in Infinite later. Post MVCI they stated they weren't happy with the Hunters protrayal in the game as it doesn't capture the idea of hunting, gathering and becoming stronger. I firmly believe it was Nintendo who didn't think they weren't a good fit, but CapCom themselves, based off the given information. If the Hunter was given a spot in Smash in the future, I imagine them being a hybrid a Byleth and Steve's mechanics, but with the addition of getting more power after each time they KO an opponent.
Sounds OP. Just use the item bar from the games to use many different moves. Like hero but not random.
@@peterduprey7286 leveling up Steve's weopons doesn't make him OP. They can even put in weopon durability just like with Steve, since having to sharpen your weopon is a thing in MH. Putting a non random item select is a far more OP concept, since it gives the character more options than the rest of the cast.

I think the more overall issue is no new Capcom franchsie enters the Smash 5 guest list. If Capcom wants to push MH they'd just deal with it.

I’m not sure why you guys thought it was gonna be a Pokémon especially since there hasn’t been a new Pokémon generation in two years. I’m aware there’s new games coming out in November but that’s a gen 4 remake and smash already has a gen 4 representative. Also, adding cinderace rn would make no sense because of the new game coming out. Honestly tho as huge of a Pokémon fan I am I would’ve hated smash to end off on a Pokémon advertisement.

The reason why was because Nintendo ended off ballot 1 with Byleth. So people assumed they were gonna end it off with another 1st party.
Also we got an Arms rep and a Xenoblade 2 rep 2 years after those games came out so a Pokémon was still possible

Though I know she isn’t the biggest character in games I’m glad that shantae made it in as a costume and made me believe she was absolutely highly requested when Sakurai was talking about the mii costumes during the Kazuya presentation. He made it sound like she was requested a lot next with Dante and Lloyd and Skyrim dude. Hell she got a music track too!!

A character that I'm strangely holding out hope for them being in the next Smash is Klonoa. While nowhere as popular as Crash and Spyro, Klonoa has had a pretty loyal fanbase. In addition, considering there was a Klonoa movie in the works, the soundtracks for Door to Phantomile and Lunatea's Veil recently getting vinyl releases, and Klonoa Encore looking to be being worked on, Namco likely has plans for the series. And while he hasn't had any recent games, Tekken hadn't had a major game in 6 years when Kazuya got announced as DLC.

Not a huge fan of the galar starters, but damn I would’ve loved to play as rillaboom.

I hope Klonoa has a chance to become relevant again sometime in the future. I really think he'd be a fun character to play as in Smash.

You know, they could implement Rex as an additional transformation of Pyra and Mythra by incorporating the vanguard switch mechanic from Torna (in a future Smash game without the technical limitations of the Switch)
15:34 it was the same thing with Krystal. A Star Fox character (though truthfully it was supposed to be her own game called Dinosaur Planet. (Which a actually near complete game is available online to play). Which was then converted into Star Fox Adventure for the gamecube). Her last appearance was Star Fox command on the DS back in 2006. (Which pretty much destroyed Star Fox in general and really damaged her character). She was originally planned to be in Brawl back on the wii but was sadly pulled due to time development and replace with Wolf. Some people were really pleased to see her back in a actually game for the first time since over a decade. I was abit disappointed that when she was in as a assist trophy.
With Persona being in Smash and SMTV being on Switch I'm almost certain we will get an SMT rep next game.
This is the true sleeper pick. I'm really surprised the SMTV protagonist wasn't in Fighter Pass 2. I really want Jack Frost in Smash whether he'd be a spirit, assist trophy, or even a playable character.

@@Mudkip971 Still weird that Joker only uses Arsene and doesn't have multiple Personas. Having Demi-fiend use multiple demons could've repped the MegaTen universe a little better. I really wanted to bring out Thor with Joker. Still love Joker's fast and aggressive moveset tho.
Also I just played Sora and he's really fun you should go try it. Side B and Neutral B are busted. A little too light tho he can die very easily
@@jackflynn412 I mean it would be out of character to have non Persona original Personas. So in terms of SMT reps it's obvious they would need to have a Demon summoning mechanic (as a down-b) where maybe it cycles through small but iconic demons as obstacles. Something like Jack Frost and Pixie are a must.

I wonder if there would have been any chance for the Knight, from Hollow Knight to get into the game, seeing how relevant it managed to stay over the years and even going in with a sequel game.

I feel like any game from a Nintendo series with a changing cast that wasn't added to Smash now has missed their chance entirely

They most likely weren't added because either their games weren't the most recent by the time the next Smash released, or they were but didn't get added for some reason (Xenoblade X in Smash 4's DLC & Pokemon Gen 8 in Ultimate's Vol 2). They're probably gonna prioritize future games from these franchises in future Smash installments rather than going back to these older games that are no longer the newest (And Mother is dead so I doubt they'd even add a new Mother rep at all)

Thats the sad part with these type of franchises. I guess that also explains why some Nintendo IPs like Metroid, Kirby & Zelda didnt have too many fighters is because theyre not a priority. Samus, Kirby & Link always comes back so probably in Nintendo's eyes, its not worth it to add one since they can just update the current ones in the roster with new moves or new stages

It makes me sad knowing my favorite Fire Starter, Cinderace is likely never going to be in Smash now. It sucks even more knowing Incineroar is the last Pokémon we've got for a long time, considering he's my least favorite Starter Pokémon.

I don't think this company is a participant in Smash 5? So that it's hard to call a chance miss if you're never in this class.
I feel like Rex's exclusion needs more elaboration. He didn't simply get passed up for the girls, they couldn't get him working with a moveset that would have been faithful to his game so the girls on their own was the best compromise as Rex fighting alongside them would have been too demanding for the possibility of having 8 of him/them on the screen all at once.
Now if they decide to only have 1-4 player smash in a future game, i can totally see them taking Pyra/Mythra and reincorperating Rex back in like originally envisioned to be.
I think a bigger argument against Yokai watch Is the lack of moveset potential.
None of the monsters had big movepools until Yokai watch 4 which Is Japan only.

I still think the roster needed another F-Zero character. I mean, playable wise, we only had Captain Falcon since 1999. And there's many characters who could have easily gone in.
Samurai goro and black shadow would have been welcomed additions. Goro would have been another assist promoted to fighter which is always welcomed.

Daisy is there because the Echo treatment fits with her whole existence. She was merely an expy for Peach when they had to make Mario platform on GameBoy and task was assigned to a different team with Miyamoto leaving the spot to non other than Gunpei Yokoi, so it probably seemed natural to give a dramatic twist to the series. The wish of experimenting made happened that even the sequel take a totally new course, and Daisy was lost along the process. The Mario platform series evolved without her, leaving Daisy as roster material for spin off games. I can imagine Sakurai choosing Daisy as a Peach clone to give fair tribute to Mario Land.
The one thing i am satisfied is finding out that sora did end up being the number 1 pick. It showed that fans really wanted him in but during smash 4 they couldn't use him so they went with bayonetta who also was popular and they could use.
Regardless i think the smash ballot basically confirms that all the newcomers who joined ultimate are the ones fans heavily requested worldwide.
Even the dlc makes sense since all those characthers are popular and were probably mention during ballot (with the exception of byleth who didnt exist but his game did really well)
I may not play Super Smash Bros nowadays, but I hope that Nihon Falcom get some representation someday in smash, especially with the Ys and The Legend of Heroes series.
I feel like the characters from Octopath Traveller have also missed their chance, unless one of them makes an appearance in Triangle Strategy. I really hope they are added in future, because Therion's Health, MP, and Item stealing, Alfyn's Concoction ability, and Ha'anit and Linde's tag-teaming would result in some really interesting movesets in Smash.
I think the issue with Monster Hunter is simply, "which weapon?" Great Sword, longsword and swaxe would likely piss off the "too many swords" crowd, however those three weapons are most iconic to the Monster Hunter series.
Maybe Yooka Laylee, Chibi Robo, Astral Chain rep, Shovel Knight and Hollow Knight have lost their chances too
At this rate Shovel Knight Rig won’t be out until the next smash is announced, so it’s not impossible. He was my most wanted going into ultimate. I’m happy he got in as an assist at least.

Yokai Watch 3 didn't release in Europe until Dec 2018 in Europe and 2019 in America. Of course it flopped in the west, basically every 3ds game after Samus Returns sold poorly as everyone was done with 3ds.
Which Is a shame because Yokai watch 3 Is fantástic and definitely worth playing.
The main reason we got third party characters is because Sakurai has a lot of clout. If Sakurai is done with super smash bros then we might not get any or have very little third party characters going forward.
You know, ever since the N64 games for the Switch online came out. I kind of thought that Saki from Sin and Punishment would get in in order to promote the Switch Online Expansion since it comes with Sin and Punishment. However, that's not to be the case.
I also speculated that Sophie from the Atelier series since her new game is coming out and Smash love JRPG characters.
I wanted Chun-Li because usually, she appears in every crossover Ryu has ever appeared in.
However, I really wanted a Custom Robo character for a long time, but never happened. Sakurai could have added him in Melee or Brawl when it was somewhat relevant, but I'm annoyed/bummed that he didn't take the chance when it was just sitting right there.
Waluigi could still make it into Smash. He'd make for an easy echo of Bayonetta.

Sadly Elma was pretty much doom as soon as the full base roster was finalized.
I don’t see them taking her over a XC2 reps which was way more recent/popular/known, the current best selling Xenoblade game and on the switch for the DLC.

X is going to get a remake on the next Switch and a sequel. Elma will come to Smash guaranteed.
Noah will come to the base roster because of the massive popularity that Xenoblade 3 will have and then Elma will come to Smash as dlc when Xenoblade X2 is announced.

I also really wanted Elma or Melia to be honest, Elma for Xenoblade X rep and Melia for a Bionis shoulder could have worked well, but I was happy with Pyra and Mythra, even though he killed off Melia and Elma’s chance. Hell, I even wanted KOSMOS for a Xenosaga rep

What if for smash 6, Nintendo introduces an almost completely new roster of fighters? They could keep the 15-20 most popular characters from ultimate, lose some of the older fighters added for promotional reasons and aim for 25-30 brand new fighters. It could really spice up the smash scene and get in some of these characters we’ve been begging for
As sad as it is, I honestly believe Smash will never have Tales of Representation, for multiple reasons.
First there's Sakurai stating that if any Tales protagonist was considered it would be Lloyd Irving. So as popular and unique as other protags like Yuri, Velvet and Alphen are, there is really only one who ever had a chance. Lloyd.
Unfortunately there are a few problems that will always exist against Lloyd's chances. For one, Nintendo doesn't seem to care about the Series as a whole. Whereas Tales is a multiplatform series the last few titles have been understandably passed over most likely due to hardware limitations/lack of sales. And the worst kicker? *sigh* Lloyd is the perfect Mii. Alot of his iconic moves I believe were inspiration for the Mii Swordfighter back in 4. There's also the Fire Emblem factor. If Smash fans continually clamor over "bland and repetative" Sword fighters, What motivation would Nintendo ever have to add Lloyd when this argument can be applied?
Lloyd could bring a unique mechanic with him and is highly requested in Japan, the Tales series still is an iconic and popular RPG series on the same vain as Pokémon Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy.The fans should just accept that many highly requested characters (Issac Lloyd Travis Dante) use a sword of sorts, Nintendo picked 6 characters from RPG's Joker Hero Byleth Sephiroth Pyra/Mythra you'd think they care about that controversy at this point?
The "Fire Emblem factor" is entirely caused by bad decisions in who was added to Smash. Fire Emblem has the worst representation per slot of any series in Smash, even when considering characters like Captain Falcon who's moveset has nothing to do with their home series. The best way to explain it is imagine if every Pokemon in Smash was a Pikachu derivative (so Pikachu, Pichu, Plusle/Minon, and so on); even if the characters had different movesets with different properties like the Fire Emblem cast does, people would still hate Pokemon for having so little variation. If Fire Emblem had been properly represented, with focus on things like the Weapon Triangle rather than just the main character of the most recent game, the complaints about "another anime swordsman" wouldn't be pervasive because you wouldn't have 7 characters that visually similar to each other from the same series.
arguably Tales has many characters and futurer Smash may have inclination to put newer Tales characters instead. The question is more like whether you specficically only want Lloyd out of all candidates?

You're really grasping at straws dude. Waluigi is incredibly insignificant compared to Bowser and Peach. He's literally a side game character with little to no role in the main series. Birdo is more likely to get in as a Yoshi echo than Waluigi as a playable anything.

That's because Piranha Plant doesn't have much of a character. It only exists to serve one purpose, just like Waluigi. He's never had his own game. Where are they supposed to find things to use? Would anyone be satisfied with only a fighter with none of the other things that are expected to come with DLC?

Not even a huge Waluigi fan but I genuinely believe Waluigi will be the next Ridley or K. Rool, meaning a heavily requested character who gets announced in the next game early on then falls off the face of the earth the second the game comes out because they're mid/low tier, with their fans flocking to clamour for the next most popular character in line, probably Bandana Waddle Dee if he's not in Smash 6, to repeat the endless cycle until the end of man kind.
I like him, but by narrow sense Ridley and K. Rool;s actualy counterpart in Mario franchsie would be Bowser. People requested them becasue they want other main villains to join Smash bros.
By that logic, I think it's more important to question why Waluigi never got a major villain role in a feature game like Peach's Showtime or Treasure Track.
I do see Mario series will get more new fighters in long future and the rest of main cast will have huge chance. But let's not forget this is still optional and Nintendo don't have to be blamed if they refuse to do so. If we want a specific character to make it, we need to create a very good reason to persuade NIntendo.
I mean, they could make Rex an echo fighter of mythra/pyra and have a similar movement and just switch between their 2 swords and have them in the background like polemon trainer
Since sonic was added I’d been wishing for shadow to get in, then when it was revealed that ultimate would have “echo fighters” I thought it was dead set on him getting in, but as the years passed I would have been happy with any sonic rep. We’ll get em next time boys.
Shadow would have made for an easily echo fighter (or even semi clone or an echo hybrid fighter (which is what I consider Chrom when you look at his moveset)).
It's frustrating when people say making shadow a clone of sonic is a disrespect to his character after many years. To that I say NO it's not. In 2001's sonic adventure 2 shadow was introduced as a sonic clone, just like how ken is a clone of ryu (to which nobody has issue with and nobody liked how ken was in street fighter 5). Shadow has been using most of sonic's techniques since 2001 to right now.
THIS IS GOING TO GET A BIT RANTY SO I APOLOGY FOR HOW LONG THIS WILL BE BUT I'M TRYING TO MAKE A POINT.
Since SA2: shadow could do spin dash, homing attack, summersault, and light speed dash (like sonic).
In sonic heroes: he could homing attack, light speed dash, rocket accel, triangle jump and that wind tornado attack (in the exact same manner as sonic.).
In the shadow the hedgehog game played just like sonic with the homing attack, spin dash, and triangle jump which turned into a parkour wall run.
In sonic 06: shadow was bit different in play style but the homing attack he had still had some of the same properties despite having a combat heavy focus. But in chaosX's 06 shadow got the spin dash back.
And finally we come to sonic generations and sonic forces; In generations shadow was seen using the boost, just like how sonic could since sonic rush and unleashed and 6 years later with the shadow DLC to forces shadow had sonic's boost formula style, homing attack (but now shadow could homing attack into a long stream of enemies), boosting, slide, and ground stomp.
With all of these things mentioned they're just as much natural things shadow can do in game as they are for sonic. Yes the chaos powers are unique to shadow, focusing on that in the same way sonic battle, shadow the hedgehog, and sonic 06 did it, it would make him different and even the combat style from sonic 06 would work BUT those two things aren't enough for shadow to work with he would need staple moves like homing attack and spin dash. Plus the combat gameplay from sonic 06 wasn't liked that much because of the official state 06 was released in and don't get me started on the gun gameplay, that was only a thing because Takeshi Iizuka wanted the game to pander to Americans and their love for dark and edgy stuff at the time.
The point is the things I listed are techniques that shadow can do just as naturally as sonic could. To say that shadow having the homing attack and spin dash would be a disrespect to his character is really stupid to say because HE'S BEEN DOING THAT SINCE 2001. That's like saying ken going the hydoken and shoryuken is a disrespect to HIS character when we all know that isn't true. I understand that people want a second sonic character that isn't a clone but who says you can't make shadow unique while letting him keep the homing attack and spin dash?
There is a really weird and particular reason why the monster hunter character was a mii rather than a stand alone fighter. If the series producer was approached for that, he likely would have declined or even outright expressed preference in a mii costume. MH devs had gone on record expressing regret that the monster hunter was a playable character in MVCi because they felt the representation wouldn't be faithful if there was no way for the players to customize them as the hunter is supposed to represent the players themselves and not any one specific character.
I play smash brothers a lot and I love and adore the game on nintendo switchBut my favorite part about the game is seeing everyone happy of returning and upcoming character I We'll never be disappointed about a character ever getting into smash because I'm always glad to see some people happy about that characterAnd if it's a game I've never played before it introduces me to the franchise in a wonderful way IAnd having that in one game is so magical to me and so special and I can't wait for the future of the franchise

I think alot of these characters not making it in are because they're not Ultimate enough, I mean that as like a suprise.
We can see that most of the time they were going for characters like: "OMG, I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS CHARACTER MADE IT IN" like Ridey and Steve, it seems to fit in the Ultimate theme due to be a shock/suprise because more surprising equals more hype.
Like compare the possibility to something like a 2nd Sonic rep getting in then a 2nd Final Fantasy getting in.

Not that I hate Ridey and Steve, but both are key characters to respective franchises, so how would you manage to find someone else less important than them from their games? You cannot say you nominate pigs over Steve?
The argument is just that there isn't really space for Smash bros to focus on a guest brand like Final Fantasy, tho. Even Final Fantasyy fans complain why XIII or XV games don't have any precense in Smash. It would be much better to ask respective companies to do a new allstars game to deal with the massive need.
I'm quite surprised you left Arle from Puyo Puyo out. Puyo Puyo has been gaining massive popularity outside of Japan (It's SEGA's most popular IP in the land of the rising sun) and she would be a unique magic user with her various spells, among many other qualities.

Puyo Puyo representation would have been welcomed, even if it was part of a spirit event, and seriously I question how come there were no spirit events for other sega IPs like puyo puyo and even super monkey ball.

I think foreign characters (From Japan's perspective) have the least chances to appear in smash as full playable characters, with Steve being the only foreign character in the cast, being from Sweden. And just because Minecraft is very popular in Japan it got a great shot to be in.

Personally I feel like piranha plant is kinda deserving of a spot. We already have main characters, player 2, villains, spin-off characters and more archetypes represented in the roster. Plant is our only rep for the background enemies which appear much more often that most other characters within their games.
This is a franchise crossover game so we don't need to have different roles all from same franchsie. If you want t generic enemy as a fighter, you should still go pick one from a brand new franchise.
Plus generic enemies have been playable in Mario spinoffs. To Mario series gamers, they wouldn't think it's an innovative move/

I'll only challenge one opinion here. Tsuda51 is a well known Internet Troll. He's stated that the series was over on multiple occasions before and after the release of a No More Heroes game. I see the series having relevancy in the future. Whether or not Travis has a chance is another discussion I'll have to admit.
Two characters who definitely missed their only shot at being added in Smash were Isaac from Golden Sun and Ray MK from Custom Robo in Brawl. Brawl was the last game where both franchises had some relevance, which means they will never be added.
But still future Smash bros need to add characters from past consoles.
Spyro and Crash are my dream inclusions. Banjo was up there as well but now that he’s in I don’t have to hope anymore

I feel like this entire video really underestimate fan requests because of a franchise not being that relevant. Pretty much every smash game has characters from franchises that are either dormant or dead, or forgotten characters in general. K Rool, The Belmonts, and Banjo are examples of that. So unless smash is going to be just newer characters, these older ones will definitely still be possible
KRool isn't a feasible example since Mario and Donkey Kong series are still producing. If Nintendo want KRool that much, they should just throw in into games like newest Mario Party.
Yet consider this about Daisy; She was in Super Mario Land, a mainline SMB game.
As for my lost wish of a character, I really wanted Phoenix Wright. Marvel vs Capcom 3 did him good, and there have been plenty of fighters with no fighting background. I actually would've been fine if he was just a Mii Fighter, but we only got 3, and he wasn't one of them.

I big part of my early videogame life were rayman Spyro and crash all on ps2, I was rooting for any one of those 3 to get in. A shame that won’t come to be, but I still love the game
I still think it's crazy that characters like Ice Climbers and Olimar are in the game, let alone included since Brawl. I'd never heard of Pikman or the Ice Climbers and didn't really know where they were from. They could have easily been replaced as spirits, when there are spirits from games far more famous than those. But at the end of the day Sakurai still gave us an incredible series of games and I'm super grateful for it.

Sakurai said that there were six people except Sora in the Famitsu column, and Sora was confirmed late. The Disney side was also welcome to participate in Sora, but he said it was still difficult in terms of conditions.

The chance of we getting a new Smash Bros or at least a New DLC Pass is pretty high since Smash Bros is one of the best sellers of Nintendo, the only problem it would be getting all the characters licenses again, so if a new Smash release in the future, we might miss some characters.

I know there is a remake but there is no firm eveidence Geno will join the main cast immediately. Other recent game news like Sparks of Hope, Super Mario Wonder and Peach Showtime all didn't show Geno's participation. If Geno cannot join the main cast, he wouldn't be able to join next Smash.

Geno's issue is that Mario has got too many fighters and contents in current Smash, so of course cutting old contents in next Smash can raise his chance. Of course he needs to become a main character first.
