You answered your own question within the first minute of your video. People were disappointed with Byleth's reveal because Nintendo honestly went a little too hard with the DLC that came before him/her. They had just added Joker, Hero, Banjo, and Terry, four very popular and in high demand third-party characters fans were begging to be included, especially Hero (well, Erdrick, luckily he's an alt color), go ahead and double that hype for Banjo. That was one hell of an act to follow, people would have been disappointed with literally any choice shy of someone like Crash Bandicoot or Master Chief. Everyone stopped complaining the very moment Min-Min was announced, then people stop being bad about her once Steve was announced. I got to tell you, the community was just peachy keen after that, I heard absolutely no complaints about any of the DLC character choices after Steve, they were all great choices and finished up with what is arguably the most in demand and at the time seemingly impossible characters to include, Sora. Byleth is by far the least interesting of all the DLC characters, but in a group of DLC fighters where every option is an 8 out of 10 at the minimum, he's still pretty neat and I'm glad he was added to the game! I get real sick and tired of the anime sword fighter argument, besides, we all know the prominence of Fire Emblem characters is due to Sakurai's personal taste in video games, he absolutely loves RPGs, a genre that is represented in Smash more than any other genre except for platformers, because, wouldn't you know it, Super Smash Bros is a platform fighter and platformer characters translate the easiest. It reminds me that there is basically one genre of video games that is entirely unrepresented in Smash Bros unless you count a spin-off: first person shooters. Samus is the only character who you can argue is from a first person shooter, but Metroid as a series is a platformer and Metroid Prime technically is a spin-off of that. I guess Inkling is kind of close, but Splatoon is more of a turf war disguised as a third person shooter. There are characters from almost literally every other genre, platformers, life simulators, RPGs, fighters, racers, stealth and espionage, world building, action adventure, hack and slash, minigames, health and fitness, flight simulators, puzzlers, even real life console accessories. Okay, I guess there's no rhythm game character, but there aren't very many of those around, I can only think of PaRappa the Rapper. Those are basically the only untouched genres in terms of Smash Bros fighter representation, we don't have a first person shooter fighter and we don't have a rhythm game fighter. The first person shooter character surprises me the most, it's the one genre Nintendo has never really dived into and the one time they did, Metroid Prime, it wasn't developed by them and was not their idea, it was developed by a group of gun loving Americans! It's such an important genre, especially to the history of video games overall, it's kind of amazing it is unrepresented in the most celebrated video game crossover ever.
Nintendo didn't take down Slippi, they took down a tournament that used it. They didn't take down Project+ either, just a tournament. Nintendo doesn't seem to mind fan games as long as it's not a remake or a Pokemon fan game, they're also pretty strict on tournaments with their games in general
Ok so yes with slippi they just stopped a tournament but rest assurred if slippi was used for emulating games they would take it down for sure. Yes Project+ is still up but who knows for how long. As for the rest of what you said you're literally just lying man, they've taken down tons of fangames, am2r, super mario 64 remake, project m, pokemon uranium, the nintendo switch emulator was literally just recently taken down even though it's a fucking emulator which is legal under US law. Nintendo also still regulary goes to war with emulation sites often fining them for millions, went after etikacons which were made to honor a famous youtuber who took his own life (the eitkacons were made allegally without his parents permission but still). Nintendo also borderline harassed and stalked etika for seemingly no reason but the evidence on that is a bit more dicey. Basically please do your research and stop being a bootlicker for a company who wouldn't care if you died tomorrow, idc what didyouknowgaming says they have intentive to side with nintendo and lie for their benefit (ik you didn't mention that youtuber but i get the feeling this is where you got that info).
@@nascour5991Well, when it comes to the most recent emulator that was taken down to my knowledge, they were locking patch updates of Tears of the Kingdom for emulator behind paywalls on their Patreon. And to my knowledge, they been making around 10k per month from it? So yeah, for this one at least, I don't remember what it was called? I think it was rightfully taken down! Now with others, it's a bit more of a grey area. While technically it is true it's not illegal for emulators to exist, at least if you have the copy of the game already and if it's not a direct one-on-one copy of the code from the game, and if you're not selling your own copies of it, it's probably okay. But here's a fact! Japan absolutely hates emulators with a burning passion! And guess where Nintendo is originated from? Yes, Japan! They have very strict rules over there when it comes to emulators, and since most of Nintendo's power comes from Japan, that's probably the reason they try to take down Nintendo emulators.
The biggest controversy was ZS-Samus getting a smaller bust, which is another reason that every game should get a boob slider. Alright, thank you for coming to my tedtalk.
I was pretty young when Byleth was announced and I remember being excited for someone like Conker to join since I was super hyped about Banjo & Kazooie. Thought, I knew it wasn't a dealbreaker since Terry came with an announcement of another Fighters Pass. When it ended up being Byleth as the final Fighter Pass 1 character, I didn't know what to feel. I thought it'd all be third-party, so I expected a third-party character. Though, at the same time, it wasn't all disappointment since I had the same reaction to them as I did with Hero and Terry. I knew it wasn't for me and that people from the other part of the word was popping off. Then I saw the outrage that unfolded, these grown men and women on social media. I guess it makes sense, I mean, if you're a Western fan, you pay for a Fighters Pass and you expect them all to be banger third-party characters, and then the final one is a character from a second-party franchise that is considered niece in your region, from a franchise you consider to be over-represented. I guess that makes sense, so the whole "it is optional DLC" argument doesn't fully apply, I feel you can say that today, though if someone complaints in hindsight. Like, just don't buy it. Nowadays, I am actually a defender of Byleth in Smash and the FE rep in general now when I have a deeper understanding for the franchise, its reputation and popularity in Japan. Plus, Smash is an obvious way to represent and therefor marketing Nintendo's niecer franchises to a wider audience which has payed off, if you ask me (not even taking into consideration how every FE game features a new protag, making them more relevant than, let's say Waluigi or Geno). What with Fire Emblem games nowadays cracking at least a million copies which is insane for a Japanese tactical RPG, which one of the least popular genres in gaming. Oh, and great video. Gonna get a like from me!

7:47 Fun Facts: 1: Wobbling wasn’t even fixed in BRAWL on the Wii. I think it was actually worse. Pretty much it could be where the two Ice Climbers passed the opponent to each other. It involved a lot of focus was really difficult. 2: A guy in a Smash Brawl Tournament had a strategy against the Wobbling technique. When his opponent chose the Ice Climbers and started wobbling, he did something hilarious in my opinion: SCREAM. He screamed at the top of his lungs whenever his opponent was wobbling. As I said, Wobbling required focus, and it’s difficult to focus when your opponent is screaming. The screaming guy WON.
Despite Byleth getting backlash by being included into Smash Ultimate, actually brought me into the Fire Emblem community and yes, I did buy Three Houses because of the DLC (along with Xenoblade 2) and I must say I absolutely love Fire Emblem mechanic, gameplay, and story wise.
I remember being one of the few people happy for byleth as someone who enjoyed JRPG's. i thought it'd be cool to have Byleth since the previous 2 Fire Emblem games had their protagonist added. That being said, I would love to see Alear in Smash 6 if it happens
Great Vid, I learned a lot, but you forgot to mention in brawl thanks to sonic being slow (ironically enough) with development, wolf, toon link and jigglypuff wouldnt even be in the game.
In reality the whole Panda cup thing was blown way out of proportion and by killing Panda the single chance of a more legimate, lucrative, smash competitive scene is now dead. Panda actually had commuication with Nintendo for many years, and they were just telling the truth as far as needing to sign up in order to be apart of it as well as meeting certain minimum things to be considerded for a Nintendo tournament license, like not comlete garbage securtiy etc... What completely blew it up is when VGA bootcamp couldn't get a license from Nintendo because their tournaments not even being able to meet the bare minimum required, planning future tournaments well before they'd be able to even be approved for a license and plenty of other mismangement and then crying foul. But whatever, Allen very well could have come off as hostile which is why he stopped being the commincator with TOs(but the internet was already starting hurling non-stop death threats at all of Panda at this point) but I would probably be hostile too considering it really was the only way to get any sort push forward for the Smash competitive scene that would benefit everyone since Nintendo will take charge of it adn never hold anything other than a random all stage/item 1st place is a switch/Nintendo product tourney. Dammit, was trying not to rant, oh well. There's plenty of real info on this now for anyone interested. This is why we can't have nice things.
The biggest problem I have with the censorship is that Nintendo has released T-rated games before, and seems totally fine with it. What’s so bad about Ultimate being rated T?
A video concept that would be cool is one about controversies with newcomers in general. like when Americans got mad because they didn't know who Terry was
I have seen Americans get mad over Joker, Hero, Byleth, Pyra, Mytha and Kazuya reveals as well so I think it's nothing really that special (all these characters are way more popular in Asian terrorists)
@@fishman689 i not asking to just be that type of controversy, there is alot of different controversies with other newcomers, like inklings being considered a too recent to put on smash ultimate (which doesn't make any sense since we had the Wii Fit Trainer in Smash 4) or people hatings Steve onoucement for some reason (this before he launches and we find out how broken it is) or even banjo being hated just because he not everyone playstyle. I think it's a fun idea, but I understand you don't find it a very interesting topic

21:15 Wait what? I remember when I first played Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS when it first came out that I was finding myself to actually play really well with Greninja. Then I started playing online with them and I wasn't feeling good about how I played as that fighter so I went back to the main I had in brawl who is still my main Sonic especially since he's better and smash for and ultimate than he wasn't brawl anyway, but yeah suddenly I wasn't really any good at using Greninja. I thought it was just that perhaps maybe I wasn't as good with the fighter as I thought I was although I'm sure that's part of it but I wonder if the nerf had anything to do with it.
What really was controversial in Brawl for me is how "rigged" the AI is, going only after the player, even in a FFA. It's even mentioned in SSBWiki (in Flaws in artifical intelligence) and it's hated by lots of people.
THIS! I made a custom stage with an area you could only get to with really precise platforming just to try and make the ai fight itself in ffa and it literally just threw a jab occasionally while just wiggling back and forth on main stage directly above and that was when I went back to melee 😇
Fire Emblem is probably my favourite Nintendo franchise. My only complaint with Byleth being added is that it was too predictable, and it might have been more interesting had they added a different character from Three Houses.
Hey Siroth, Here are some things I wish to point out concerning the Smash 64 section of your video: 1. To my knowledge, no one got scammed from Smash Overload. People just warned others to not donate to this mod. 2. The only stage that got banned as a result of Tacna 2014 is Hyrule Castle. 64 Kongo Jungle, 64 Peach's Castle and Saffron City were banned for different reasons. 3. Can you provide any proof that letters were sent to Nintendo due to rumored characters not being in Smash 64? If not, then this shouldn't have been put into the video.
How can they force someone to return their prize money though? Unless there's an official legal contract for it that they had to sign before the tournament, which I doubt.
"Do you not have phones?" It may not be Nintendo related, but that panel is not easily found on youtube and if you go to watch it from Blizzard itself they cut that part out. The question and answer is cut completely from the video as they move to the next one.

Fun Facts:
1: Wobbling wasn’t even fixed in BRAWL on the Wii.

Kind of off topic but now nintendo is forcing GMOD to delete their nintendo related addons from steam.
Really dumb that they wanted 10k for overload, when mods should always be free because they’re using Nintendo’s ip

Prolly cuz the whole series is rated E and they wanted ultimate to be E too
@ Melee and Brawl are actually T rated
A video concept that would be cool is one about controversies with newcomers in general. like when Americans got mad because they didn't know who Terry was

Why is the song at 22:58 so damn hype when nothing exciting is happening
What really was controversial in Brawl for me is how "rigged" the AI is, going only after the player, even in a FFA. It's even mentioned in SSBWiki (in Flaws in artifical intelligence) and it's hated by lots of people.
THIS! I made a custom stage with an area you could only get to with really precise platforming just to try and make the ai fight itself in ffa and it literally just threw a jab occasionally while just wiggling back and forth on main stage directly above and that was when I went back to melee 😇
Happy 25th to the series!
26:47 Fun Fact It's Not Just Mai That's Not In Ultimate, Luong And Kula Diamond Are Not There Either 😅
I know it's probably not the case, but imagine if the reason we got a 2nd Fighters Pass was because of Byleth being the last one in the first pass.

Fire Emblem is probably my favourite Nintendo franchise. My only complaint with Byleth being added is that it was too predictable, and it might have been more interesting had they added a different character from Three Houses.
Hey Siroth,
Here are some things I wish to point out concerning the Smash 64 section of your video:
