    When David played the second solo, i think that's the moment an electric guitar reaches its maximum capacity. Its undoubtedly the best electric guitar solo in the history of humanity.

      You are correct. The double string bends towards the end of the solo are simply sublime and I've never heard anything like it since. It's other-worldly.

      David , le plus grand guitariste au monde avec ce solo . A chaque fois que j’écoute ce morceau, j’en n’ai la chair de poule . Depuis l’âge de 15 ans, j’écoute Pink Floyd et je suis toujours aussi dingue de Pink Floyd même à 65 ans maintenant

    • @krischan67
      @krischan67 ปีที่แล้ว

      The end wasn't a horrible, but deeply satisfying moment. A good piece of music is going towards the end when it's at its climax. Delaying it is watering it down.

      @@krischan67 Probaly blasphemy to have a dig at the way DG ended this, but the random run at the very very end doesn't really add anything for me. I would have preferred a long screaming note that just got more and more distorted and reverb heavy (a-la-gary moore) and then a really sharp stop... just my opinion.

    David Gilmour is the greatest guitarist that’s ever existed, and it’s not necessarily for his technical ability or speed. There are plenty of shredders out there that can play a million miles an hour solos. The reason he’s so good is that his solos always serve the song, it’s never about ‘How good I am’. Gilmour has never been a show-off guitarist. It’s always about the music, the song, and how the solo can serve the song and enhance it.

    This was My wife's all time favorite song, it would get played over and over on a sunday morning on number 11. The house would shake, but the neighbors never complained. It was played one last time at her funeral. I cannot listen to it now without the tears streaming down my face, without sadness and joy in my heart. I could not listen to it for a long time after my wifes passing, but now whenever i want to reflect on the happy times we had together, i put this on real loud let the tears fall, and smile at all the wonderful memories she left behind. Thank You Mr Gilmore, for writing and playing one of the most emotional peices of music of all time. It will surely be played when I pass, and rightly so.

Or finding out how a disease attacks human tissue so you can develop something to combat it successfully. There are at least 18 other examples I could come up with, but for lack of time. I met David Gilmour in 1984 back stage at a concert in Hollywood Calif. He gave me a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know.
    All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible.

Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David and he gave us both a signed album. We chatted for 22 minutes while he signed others albums. 35 lucky people won tickets. It was AWESOME show.

      Rebbie Mercury Mainstay of Pink Floyd , is a guitarist with a sound and feel pretty unique . Recognizable after listening to a few notes , has a style very melodic and complex , despite the choice of notes always points to a great simplicity true virtuoso of the instrument , he has never played fast but always intensely and heart .
      The work of Gilmour as a musician can not be limited only to the guitar. Great experimenter of sound , has been able to radically innovate the sound of modern electric guitar . He also knew how to use all possible expressive capabilities of the instrument also to create contexts harmonic ethereal , mysterious , majestic , distressing ... ie the entire heritage of the Pink Floyd sound . A guitarist as every guitarist should be . A master in every sense , modern even today . I will never stop listening to " the dark side of the moon " , in " Animals" , in "wish you where here"in"The Division Bell".

If you really listen to the melody Gilmour is able to express through his guitar you wonder how can someone play so naturally and achieve an incredible result, making it look quite simple. I am fully absorbed by his unique style and talent, and I shed tears of joy listening to this masterpiece. Pink Floyd are definitely part of the story of Music, like Genesis.

    My Father passed away in 2003 when I was 18 years old. He never explicit mentioned that he likes Pink Floyd, that he listen to them very frequently when he was young. My Mother told me many years later when I picked Comfortably Numb just to play along in the Background when she was visiting me for Coffee. It is interesting that without any big Influence of my Father, I too listen very frequently to Pink Floyd. Especially this Song.
    This Song make me feel connected to my Father more than any other Memory could. Sounds kind of weird, but it is what it is. It's heeling my Soul.

    This particular live performance of Comfortably Numb will always be very important to me. Ten years ago I was hanging out with a friend in his bedroom at home at his parents. I let it slip that I in my 20 years of living had never heard a single Pink Floyd song and my friend was so horrified and put a DVD with this concert on his tiny tv. We lay on his bed and he skipped to this song and just let me absorb it with him. This moment will always be special to me. I didn't know it at the time but he was eventually become my boyfriend a couple of months later and today is our 10 year anniversary. I love him so much and I always think about him in his teenage bedroom listening and watching while he lay next to me and was so triumphant that he had managed to impress me with pink Floyd haha ❤

One of the great joys about being with one's partner in life is all the things you share and will share together-- songs, nature, friends, quiet moments, television, food, laughter, movies, trips. Next August will be my 30th anniversary with my partner, and I never stop enjoying it: inside jokes, fun quotes we both love, a song on the radio that sparks a memory, exploring interests you never had until you met him. I don't think no one in the world will ever do something as mind blowing as this, no matter how great today recording technology is, even if this happened already almost 30 years ago.
