      Robert was a formidable warrior, who won the throne through fighting a war, winning battle after battle. Hound if anyone respects a man like that. Joeffrey was a spoiled little shit who threw tantrums if he didn’t get what he wanted and expected everyone else to fight his battles for him

      It's honestly crazy how out of all the kings we've seen so far on the show, the whoring alcoholic philanderer with zero interest in ruling still turned out to be the best at his job simply because he mostly delegated running his kingdom to his council, and even apparently the debt can be attributed to not him being too wasteful, but some book cooking.

      I'm rereading the series, and I'm certain that Sandor Clegane actually liked King Robert. Neither of them give a shit about politics, they like hunting and fighting and killing and drinking and fucking. I feel like they may have actually gotten on well together if Robert was never the king. The Hound certainly has more in common with Robert Baratheon than does Lord Stark.

      Wrong. If Robert killed Dany back then, a lot more people would have died against the Night King than Dany ever killed. With or without Viserion, the NK would have gotten past the wall at the time he arrived. All it took was one giant to lift the gates to the Wall’s tunnels during the Wildling attack, the NK had several. Not to mention when Sam was on the same side of the wall as the White Walkers in season 3 episode 10, he told Bran that there were steps carved into the south side of the wall that were presumably still accessible to them on the side they were currently on, or else there would have been no point in telling Bran in the first place. You think they were screwed against the NK in Winterfell? Imagine how much worse it would have been if Drogon and Rhaegal hadn’t taken out such a large portion of the wights. We saw how screwed Arya was with just the wights that got past the dragons. There would have been no Arya to kill the NK if the dragons were never there at all. They were getting overpowered with the larger living army in Winterfell, and that was before the NK even used his dragon against them. The wouldn’t have stood a chance with the smaller living forces they had at the Wall when the NK arrived.
      Point is, if this fat drunk of a King had gotten his way, the entire human race would have been screwed because of him.

      Ryuko Tokyo No, actually. As proven in the finale of s7, the entire wall doesn’t need to be destroyed in order for the dead to get past the wall, all they need is an opening. All it took was one giant to lift the tunnel gates during the Wildling attack, and the NK had several. There was evidently no magic preventing the dead from getting near the wall or else they wouldn’t have been able to sit a wrapped up wight on the wall in the first place. If the larger living army in Winterfell were still getting overpowered even without the NK using his dragon, how the hell would they have done any better with a smaller living army when the dead showed up at the end of season 7? Common sense. In conclusion, even without Dany’s dragon, the NK would have gotten past the wall.
      As for Dany destroying King’s Landing, Dany was never the kind of person to go around killing children until after listening to advice of naively pacifistic idiots who kept trying to shove their Mary Sue nonsense down her throat, costing her everything from her dragons to her sanity. Hell, Dany was the kind of person who prioritized the safety of her people over the power her dragons gave her, which is why she locked them away at the very idea of them harming a child. The only “idiots” are Jon and Tyrion, who’s heads are so stuck up in La La Land that they are utterly incapable of seeing the world for what it is and people for what they are. Dany knee what the world was and responded accordingly. She wasn’t a child murdering psycho until she got screwed over by simpletons

    • @hawksasuke97
      @hawksasuke97 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Ryuko Tokyo You’re definitely forgetting the fact that at the end of s7 they would have been fighting undead people with practically no dragon glass, wise guy. Lol this is definitely not as simple as the Spartans. Dany being “inconsistent” indicating an inability to rule is highly debatable. Regardless, I just as easily say that being an over trusting, naive little idiot who doesn’t learn their lesson about the way the world works even after death is also a pretty big sign of being a bad ruler. Would’ve lasted two seconds on the throne before Jon got his head chopped off like Ned Stark because he trusted the wrong person for the billionth time

He was basically a jacked half giant, swinging a gigantic warhammer that Ned couldn’t even lift like it was a wooden stick. Try parrying a blow from a warhammer. You can’t! And a single hit will shatter every bone in your body. No armor could protect you from that. I honestly believe that Robert would’ve been a good King if he put himself to it. He was a natural born leader and had traits and skills to command. Throughout the 300 year Targeryan reign there were many rebellions but all failed. Robert was the only one to succeed. Also he was right about a lot of things that happened later in the show and about his own family/kids. That means something. But he never wanted to be King. He didn’t even start the war, and he only rebelled because he was in love with the Prince’s lover. It was only after the battle of the trident that the war was about over throwing the mad king. However all his traits left him when he left the battlefield. And unlike Jon snow who doesn’t want to be king either, Jon would still apply himself and try his best, instead of going to his best friend and ask him to do all the work and heavy lifting.

    Y’know I find it weird Robert didn’t say more to Robb. The kids literally named after him, he’s grown into a very capable young man, and it’s clear Robert wants nothing more than for their houses to be joined. Robb is the heir of Winterfell and only a few years older than Myrcella. Yet even in the books I don’t remember them interacting beyond the first scene in this video. You could easily imagine the lot of them sitting down for a meal, Robert pulling Ned and Robb over, and telling the kid tales of their youth and their friendship and their battles. Perhaps even with Joffrey present, trying to force a friendship between the kids. But all he gets is ‘You must be Robb’.

      Robert's not really interested in either his or Ned's kids except as instruments to revive his friendship with Ned. Robert doesn't really give a shit about his own children, he pines for the days when he was young and free with Ned at his side. His children are just another reminder of his responsibilities and his hated marriage. So his neglect of Joffrey and the others extends to Ned's. He doesn't care about Robb because he only wants to talk to Ned without being reminded that they aren't boys anymore

      I don't think they ever truly loved each other, not romantically. Cersei was betrothed to Rhaegar from a young age and knowing she couldn't have Jaime, wanted him. She married Robert and was happy to go along with it (she wanted to be queen and make her father happy), until Robert revealed he only wanted Lyanna, even though she was dead by this point.
      Robert meanwhile was so fixated on Lyanna, he was obsessed, but it was only the idea of her that he loved. He never wanted Cersei, but he stayed married to her because he needed Tywin Lannister's support more.
