    Used to have a Mercedes A220d remapped to 205bhp as a daily. Used to easily do 55-65mpg over my 35 mile commute which was 50/50 dual carriageway and country roads to get to the dual carriageway, was really good!👍

      That’s brilliant! I think it’s clear that having a low powered output of the engine definitely makes the fuel economy worse, that’s an oversight on my part! 😉

    Great video but a bit of MPG analysis, 15mpg better is a % increase of 40% roughly from the 140i Quite a big difference on big fuel spending over a year. a 15mpg increase from 60mpg to 75 would be fat less a % increase for instance at 25%, and these % directly link to % increases and decreases in fuel cost.

    Great video, 140i will be a near purchase for myself.
    I currently have an 04 Bora Pd130,
    200k miles on the clock, stage 2 230bhp. On my run to the coast it averages 65-75mpg on the motorway.
    50 ish around town as I like to keep it revved up to stop it clogging the manifold. I still have good results even when I have my foot down in places.

      Thank you Chris! That’s excellent fuel economy, I feel shortchanged getting a 116d, I’m mildly disappointed with my mpg! :( I don’t thing you can go wrong with an M140i though, does most things brilliantly and still returns exceptional fuel economy.

    I have a 116d and these are the questions I ask myself, I don’t find issues with hills honestly, the torque does its job pretty well

    • @NathanMannin
      @NathanMannin  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I suppose with mine being a manual and if you’re caught in the wrong gear then it can be a small issue, I imagine if it was a 120d or automatic in the same situation then the hill wouldn’t be much of a problem.

      It’s the same engine n47 116d , 118d and 120d - 116d and 118d are just detuned version of the 120d
      123d has different turbo and larger intercooler

    • @MrDannygt911
      @MrDannygt911 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is indeed the same engine, that’s why it’d be interesting to see the efficiency difference between them given the power output.
      123d is bi turbo rather than single and also runs higher fuel pressure… gearing is also different compared to the 120d which could affect efficiency too.

    • @ghostinthemachine76

    • @NathanMannin
      @NathanMannin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Really depends on how you drive it and what sort of commutes you take it on I suppose! Driving it normally around town or on commutes I could imagine low 30’s with the occasional bootful here and there. They can achieve 45mpg on a long steady run too, just town driving and lots of hard acceleration I’d imagine low 20’s.

    • @NathanMannin
      @NathanMannin  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe your 2016 116d is the facelift and has the 3 cylinder 1.5 diesel engine compared to my 4 cylinder 2.0 diesel engine, so there could be a difference for that reason. Also this wasn’t just one stretch of road. If I drove this 116d on the motorway for a long distance without stopping, I probably would’ve achieved a much higher figure like yours.

    • @NathanMannin
      @NathanMannin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much! I can’t remember exactly unless I replay the footage, but at the moment diesel is the same price as the Momentum 99 that I put in the M140i. So the prices are very similar for now, but to only lose 15mpg by driving the M140i, it’s such a small price to pay for such a superb car!
