    30mpg is brilliant given its performance and being a 3 litre. My fl RS3 long term is 23mpg, however well aware it’s dependent upon how you drive, traffic etc. I genuinely thought your 140 would have been thirstier than your R, clearly not. Good vid 👏

    The more realistic MPG for the 140i in town is 18/20 mpg. Motorway you will get 37/42 mpg no problem. I can’t see you having 29mpg on average if you drive it hard like you say you do. It’s virtually impossible. I’ve had mine for nearly 2 years and there is no way. A lot of 140 owners would agree. Car looks good though

    The pricing on servicing are brakes must be all main dealer you would save a huge amount at a BMW specialist using genuine parts..

    • @kjayb15
      @kjayb15 4 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      @R A you clearly know nothing about the motortrade it would not void any warranty at all.. you dont have to take the car to main dealer at all.. as long as OE filter or warranty approved filters are used with the correct oil it will NOT void warranty!!!!

    • @kjayb15
      @kjayb15 4 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      @R A I'm also in the motortrade I work for one of the largest suppliers in the UK not euros.. been at main dealers for 10 years plus.. it does not void your warranty if you been in the trade that long you should know but clearly you do not..
      You do know BMW Mercedes dont make their own filter right it Mann Bosch Mahle Wix Cooper Fram etc etc.
      You are a typical guy who works for dealership that thinks all after market parts are shit and avoids your warranty.. why dont you get the correct information and come back to talk to me.

      So Billy fucking big chips who thinks he a upper class wank because he deals with exotics car wow well done..
      You still have no clue and if you wish I can send you all documentation on warranty approved parts I see because Unfortunately for me I have to deal with morans like you sometimes the rest are well educated on after market parts.
      Also if you read my first comment I said about a specialist garage can use main dealer parts but still save you money..

    I'm 36, 1 years no claims, and my annual premium is only £920. It was costing me £149 a month last year but it is what it is is. If you have to think about the running costs don't buy 1, every car cost to run some slightly more than others. On that note if you put your foot down you're looking at 1.7 MPG

  • @SassyOnline

    I hope you change your oil more frequently than 18,000 miles!!! thats a good way to increase wear on an engine leaving the oil in there that long! longest you should leave oil in a car is 10,000 miles or a year. especially for a performance car.

    @band1t620 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Few things to add
    Do not use bmw dealer for any work other than warranty or recall, resell value wont be affected much or at all and you'll save more money doing it elsewhere than doing it through bmw hoping for higher resell value
    Engine Oil
    Use your local garage to do the oil that is either bmw approved or work with bmw's, cheaper and 90% sure they are more skilled than apprentice at bmw
    Buy your oil from places like opieoils, I use millers(£70/£80 for 6.5L) and bmw oem oil filter(£15), then use my local garage that charge £60 for oil change, youre looking at £155 so you're saving £150 with every service but...I wouldnt change my oil every 18k miles, for this engine and its performance 18k miles, specially from new is stupid, 7.5k/10k miles(if your car is on PCP or lease do not care)
    Brakes
    You can use Bosch or Brembo oem discs that are £120 each(£240 for front axle) or little bit cheaper and better imo Mtec brake discs, standard or high carbon, around £200 for set of two
    and Pads are quite cheap, I recommend set of ds2500, far better than stock at £140 for front axle, and labour should be around £60-£100, altogether £480 with most expensive parts, you're yet again saving, around £100
    And for the rear, brake discs from brembo and bosch are around £90-£110 each so £180-£220 for rear axle, brake pads are around same price of £140, labour if you're changing all 4 brakes then it will be £100 if rear or front only then £60, altogether front and rear you're looking at £840 so you're saving nearly £300 👀
    Tyres
    Unfortunately, there are few ways to save few pounds but no a lot, you can buy tyres from seller on ebay that sell them little cheaper and are legitimate sellers or ebay, you could also buy part worn PS4 or even better goodyear eagle F1 supersport(they're not runflats) for 18s and F1's or PS4S for 19s
    So, to sum it up, you cant win with insurance, petrol or tax but you can with few other bits
    If you were to change your engine oil and brakes yearly, you're saving about £450, if you drive like Luke and get 300 miles per tank, you can do about 2200 miles with that £450...not bad I'd say

  • @paullasky6865
    @paullasky6865 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great video!!!
    Those costs are not that bad considering its a service every 2 years not 1.
    And considering discs and pads on other sports can be way more than £550.
    £750 every 4 years or 36k miles is not astronomical really.
    And could get all of this cheaper at a good independent.
    And when your 42 like me your insurance will be under £500 like mine is 😚

    Enjoying the vids! The premium road tax is £300 on top of the normal tax and it's only for the first 5 years , So £145 + £300 if you have one over 40k. For 600 quid tyres wise I would imagine you can get pilot sport 4s not just the ones it comes with. I've seen people pick up sets for £440 for super sports,. Servicing is really expensive but many have a service pack on them which covers them to the end of the PCP then BMW will have to service it anyway if you chuck it back at them :P

    Insurance for me decked out on a 340i was under £800 but I'm mid 30s. Tyres ps4 you can get on 18" wheels and are much better than super sport in the wet similar in the dry. 19" on the 340i ps4s were 150 each at the back but 180 for front weirdly. Services are the same (rip off) and brakes the discs should last 2 sets of pads so first time need replacing should be cheaper. On mpg if your on longer runs when you need to be economical mid 40s is achievable but realistically nobody drives like that all the time. Overall though my 340i hasn't cost me as much as I was expecting edit: yet touch wood!

The Mann oil, air and fuel filter which are one of the bests cost you altogether 50 pound for the car, around 100 for oil and then 50-70 to get it changed in a good service. Everything you say is overpriced.

    People dont understand how the BMW 6 cylinder are good on fuel. My old m4 was getting same economy as 435i. Yet the cla45 I had was far worse on fuel! I'll go on a limb here and say that thusc140i is better on fuel than a45s. So this smaller engine is more green isnt always truly. Also the c63s wasnt terrible. Not as good as m4 but still not what you might think. Most economical car I ever had was 2010 ibiza cupra. Great cars those

    Love the general video style but some of your figures are waaaaay off, obviously insurance is personal so I can't comment on that, but in terms of other costs, If you ring and speak to the service manager they will always cut you a deal;
    Minor (Oil and filter) £170 - Main dealer (Haggled)
    Major inc BF change £490 - Main dealer (Haggled)
    Pads and sensors all-round - £310 (Paid for parts from a main dealer, fitted by an indi)
    Tires (Michelin PS super sport) £112 a corner, front or rear from Costco!
    Also generally I find doing motorway miles 40MPG plus is easily achievable, tank to tank record for me is 404 miles (6 speed manual)
    So don't be put off thinking its a full-fat M Car service costs, it's really really not! I budget about 25% more than I did for my MK7 ST-3 and I'm not far off :)
    Keep up the good videos but I'd definitely encourage you to shop around a little and don't let people rip you off! :)
