Little known fact- the Imperial Walker deployed a secret weapon when unloading it's troop compliment- it's ability to look like a nervous dog taking a shit. This would cause the enemy to laugh so hard that they could not fire their weapons in order to contest the deployment of soldiers.
The First Order used some walkers similar to the Imperial ones in the Battle of Crait. If you look to the left and right ends of the formation you'll see them. My theory is they're troops carriers.
Yeah, the FO version of the Imperial AT-AT had more armored appearance than the earlier Imperial version. The FO walker with turbolaser was likely used for siege purposes. Most of the room would've been used for power generators for turbolaser.
The OT AT-ATs from Empire will always be my favorite. The Rebels were pretty much powerless against them on Hoth. It had to be terrifying, you keep firing at them, and they just keep coming, like an unstoppable juggernaut.
@@ShayanGivehchian It took me a while to take one down with the laser cannon, it turns out aiming for the neck was effective enough to take them down.
I imagine that the AT-ATs have heavily armored back sides so they can protect the fuel and power area. You also have to remember they travel typically with Scout Walkers so likely Scout Walkers could turn around and fire at sneak around enemy barrages.
Love this vid! You forgot to mention that the AT M6 has rope cutting blades on its front limbs, designed to be impervious to rope entanglements during the battle of Hoth. One of the best features of the First Order walkers 😊
I agree the original AT-TE was the most practical design. That high center of gravity is a huge flaw. Without air-support, those mighty terrifying walkers are little more than tombs on legs.
The First Order also had their own version of the AT-AT. It had heavier armor and no chin mounted heavy blasters. They were present in the battle of Crait and on Snoke’s ship.
I love it whenever someone make these comparison videos, and ACTUALLY are the sole person who 3D modeled the walkers as well! So many of these comparison channels out there just take work done by others, and use that to make a comparison video from, hence reducing the amount of work they have to do by at least 80-90%. It's the lazy way of doing something that LOOKS impressive, til people start realizing it's not THAT difficult to do. But you? You make... Well, for the most part interior-shots of these vehicles, but it's all 3D modeled by you! If you made a comparison video, you'd be deserving the attention these other false "attempt-ers" get, way more so than them.
I really appreciate the comments. These animations are extremely time consuming to recreate, and I'm trying to minimize using pre-existing contents (movies clips and images) and creating something new for a change. Thanks!
I actually like the Manka Class, and I've always liked the AT-TE. As noted, I liked the all-around weaponry they had, and the lower and more stable design. I wish we could have seen the Manka Class in action, but even during the Clone Wars we rarely got to see the AT-TE really open up on an enemy with full firepower.
I think the coolest use of the AT-TE was in the Clone Wars TV show when Anakin and his detachment of the 501st used their magnetic feet to place the walkers on asteroids and launch a surprise attack on confederate capital ships
Is it me or is every old republic vehicle ship or walker or whatever just a copy of the vehicles during the OT? Wonder why things haven’t changed with the design, definitely gonna need a 10 minute video explaining that.
I would redesign the interior of the ATTE to have a the armory and weapons stored in the back, while in the middle I would install a fabricator, mini-lounge and eating quarters. Mini-lounge would have the amneties of a restroom, although privacy in the mini-lounge is not a feature. There is no need to have a proper living quarters since the seats can act as an inclined bed allowing troops to rest properly should travel takes more than a day to reach an intended target. A fabricator would allow the troops to have food, while the mini-lounge would allow proper space for soldiers to eat (although it couldn't house all troops at all times, which means troops took shifts between those who were engaged in services and those that weren't.). Due to this shift process, you would need eight additional troopers who could be stationed on the bench seats located in the front section. Even though the craft requires seven troopers to function, you have an additional trooper who would function as the combat nurse and can utilize the mini-lounge as a make-shift clinic. I would also have some sort of semispherical barrier projector in the top back to help protect the gunner stationed massed-driver cannon as well a hatch attached to the mid-section that can allow the outside stationed gunner to return inside the vehicle if needed such as destrution or inoperation of the massed-drive cannon or to rotate shifts with extra gunner inside. The purpose of this ATTE isn't to deploy troops but to manifest control over the ground for troops who could be deployed. I would reinstitute the Manka APC Walker and redesign it to have a middle section and a double stack transport unit as it can house more troops and was more versatile for that purpose. These vehicles would be deployed behind the ATTEs to provide troop support. The middle section would be the same for the ATTE and the double stack transport would consist of troopers which can deploy more of. Additional seating would be provided in the cockpit to support two additional crew members as this walker only needs two to remain function, thus why it is the desirable unit to deploy troops. You would have two stationed combat nurses and the Mini-lounge would be a bit bigger due to the prospect of it being utilized to support the troops. I would enhance both walkers to carry a distance of 40 mph making them able to stay in a sync which is vital for the use of troop deployment. For troops would replace the clone and stormtroopers in favor of the Marine units from Starcraft as they were situated in armored exoskeleton suit, such could be enhanced to deploy greater mobility, especially with the use of the stim pack so troops were quick enough to be deployed and recalled in a timely manner to support the 40 mph vehicles. So probably transversing at a speed 60 mph with stim packs that help them move at 70 or even 80 in some rare instances. Faster travel may be hazzardous or impractical for the genetically modified and enhanced soldiers who be the infantry deployed in these exoskeleton suits. I would remove the ball mounted cannons in favor of slightly larger ball-mounted fixtures with the ability to function as fabricators to supply weapons or equippers for the need to resuit infantry in case there is an issue with his marine exoskeleton suit. As you have such units, the need for firepower on the sides is unnecessary as such would be utilized by the marines as they are deployed. Also the back turrets could be rotated and move about in an almost perfect semispherical placement that can allow them to function in that manner if needed for side support making additional turrets unnecessary. Also if needed, semisphere barriers could be projected offering enough added potection to make the need for arms on the sides unnecessary. For the AT-ATs, I would resign them to house a rotating twin-blaster cannon on top the cockpit to provide better aerial suppression as well additional artillery support for the cockpit as a whole. Forcefield projectors located near the neck to support it. Although these projectors can be turned off or overwhelmed, having them guarantees this vulnerable weakness is maintained to an extent and makes the walker less burdensome. I would give it ball rotating mounted twin-cannons, two on each side and one on that upperside of the body component. I would also redesign the cockpit to consist of a pilot and two gunners. This would give the AT-ATs a crew of Seven which can work similarly with the ATTE in which a Vice-Commander can fill-in for the commander during his break or command the lower walker units and marines stationed outside should the commander be busy in the cockpit of the vehicle dealing with matters that concerned AT-AT specifically, normally this would be the reverse. Along with having both a seating bench on the lower section of the body, you would also have a mini-lounge, fabricator and eating quarters instead of a station area to deploy troops. The top deck deck of the body would consist of reaper infantry instead of clone troopers or storm troopers, although they are similar to jetpack storm troopers and would be more like a hybrid of a jetpack stormtrooper and the reapers from Star Craft. There would be large hatch that would open on the top of the Walker allowing deployment of these troops who would provide mild airsupport and infiltration to supporter the walker cohort as a whole. There is no way to provide back support in terms of firepower for the AT-ATs, so instead I would put in a semi-spherical barrier projector on the rear as well as on the top when the hatch is closed. I would replace the speeder bikes with a hybrid bike configuration of the speeder bike with the vulture bike from Star Craft as they could deploy spidermines which were useful. I would make the AT-ATs travel at the same distance as the other walkers to keep them in formation. Deployment of a tactical unit should consist of 4 ATTEs with 4 APCs and 1 or 2 AT-ATs. If there are 2, then the second commander would be replaced by a spotter or experiened tactician that would be useful to help the vehicle provide additional support or the tactical unit but wouldn't hold any command over the unit itself. The typical formation would be four ATTEs in front in a U shape with APCS directly following in a U shape and following them were the 1 or 2 AT-ATs. An additional AT-AT was only necessary if there was a greater need for jetpack troop reapers to be deployed on the field. Not much needed to change for the AT-M6s. Unlike the AT-ATs and APCs which provided troop deployment (albeit jetpack troop reapers for the AT-ATs), the AT-M6 was used entirely for siege combat either to infiltrate an impenetrable facility or destroy heavily guarded enemy units. They were also useful against enemies that had APCs, ATTEs and AT-ATs as their massive cannons could pulverize through the shielding and armor of the other walkers. For this reason, there were less of them made and unlike the other walkers which were deployed together When the AT-M6s are deployed, they are deployed together as a single unit to take advantage of their extreme fire capabilities as siegecraft and artillery. Unlike the other units which could be deployed closer to the action, AT-M6s stayed at a very far distance. Their Megacalibur 6 Cannon would be fitted with enough tech to make them able to hit anything that was visible on the horizon with extreme accuracy. Therefore, there is no need for them to be deployed so closely to battlefield and they typically stayed in the back with a unit of seven in which there would be 6 tactical units before it. They are designed similar to the AT-ATs in terms of the cockpit in which there was a commander, two gunners, and a pilot. Unlike-AT-ATs there are no stored units of troopers nor any additional artillery or guns. Instead, there was a dedicated team of engineers to to help maintain the powerplant, reactor and the Cannon to guarantee their continuous deployment on the battlefield. However, like the AT-ATs, there was a designated location for a mini-lounge, fabricator and eating quarters. However, this beast would also contain a proper sleeping quarters for the commander (who was ranked above the commanders that led the Tactical Units on the AT-ATs) and a proper lounge rather than a mini-lounge. There was the same sitting bench that allowed an exchange of personnel in shifts and there was also a Vice-commander, although they didn't share the proper amnetities for the commander on the lead AT-M6. In the subsequent AT-M6. Even though, there was still a proper lounge, instead of a proper sleeping quarters there was a small garrison of jetpack troop reapers to provide security for the AT-M6s if such was necessary, albeit they would be deployed from the sides rather than from the top. The AT-M6s were slower as they weren't necessary to stay in formation and were ideal to be as far as away from any enemy units as possible. I would give them the added protection of semi-spherical barrier protectors for the sides, top and back. It also served ideally for the head commander to be in the back to strategically analyze the field of battle from a distance. These semi-spherical barrier projectors on the ATTEs, APCs, AT-ATs and the AT-M6 can be overwhelmed, but the time to do so would under typical circumstances be too long for it to be key strategic interest and almost what was necessary to shoot through the dense durasteel platting that protected it. How am I so accustomed to this? I am Darth Mortivarr. I actually designed this style of combat with Armored Skeleton Troopers and Jetback Reapers when I fought against the Eternal Empire.
The gorilla walker is overmuch, and the at-at is good and all, but AT TE is my favorite and is good as well. It just needs armor under the engine and is good to go
I figured if those tall-standing walkers could be made useful for war, it would be as rear-stationed command/control/surveillance vehicles, as well as anti-air/space weapon-platforms, with supplemental anti-personnel blasters for coverage around their legs. Leave the forward action to vehicles more squat than tall.
I can’t wait for the AT-DETH in Star Wars Episode X: The Resurrection of Anakin and Death Star I and Somehow Palpatine Returned Again! Imagine how terrified the galaxy will be if each system has a super weapon equipped Ultra Mega Walker! All remaining systems will bow to the First Second Empire and remember this as first day of unique Star Wars Content!
Always love vids like this especially from this channel in particular. I would love to see you cover the A6 Juggernaut(the Clone Turbo Tank) or the CIS's Providence Destroyer both from Star Wars. Stay awesome.
You forgot to mention this but the AT-TE was also a troop transport and could carry and deploy 2 All Terrain reconnisance transport walkers as well via elevator and side doors. Excellent review though.
Very in-depth information, well presented - thank you. Can you do one with the x-ray of Mark Hamill's head ? I'm tipping we might discover in the void of where his brain should be, we'll find a peanut hanging from a string.
An improved AT-TE would had been the best choice for the empire - Something like better armor in the middle and a remote controlled main turret with an additional coaxial blaster besides the main gun. The AT-AT looks a bit silly and more like a "Wunderwaffe" while the M6 is plain ugly and probably not suitable for anything else than a siege
I agree that the AT-TE is the best of them. The Manka is quite similar and the second best, but lacks the strong armament of the AT-TE. But to be fair even the AT-TE is just in comparison a good design. It´s still a walker with all drawbacks this type of movement has. It is slow (not that good for a troop transport) and the main armament is good, but unprotected and very exposed. Same with the driver cabin. It´s laughable exposed and laughable unprotected. At least it seemingly has 360 infantry protection. Another question is how troops are deployed with the AT-TE. Just through the small hatch we saw in Clone Wars?
Great video is usual my friend awesome video I love it those workers are awesome but you're right they're not good for war because they'll be tiptoe over very easy.. I think those workers are probably better for maintenance work or to a backup for troops to deploy or do work but not to actually war
I seriously hope if they EVER make a new decent SW battlefront multiplayer game, they go more on a tactical aspect like this video with many people needed to drive the vehicles and less gung-ho crazy shoot em up IDC if I die style foot soldiers who can destroy vehicles like its nothing. Like your inside the vehicle and can't see outside so you really need your radar guy as the eyes of everyone inside.
A thought on the AT-AT compared to the AT-TE...the Empire's version embraced the role of Transport a lot more than the earlier unit (including the far less armored cargo version). Would have been interesting to see more of a hybrid 'gunship' version of the AT-AT, with weapons emplacements along the sides and back of the main body, instead of just the head. (they could have door gunners, but that required exposing the interior, and there was the version with the large cannon replacing most of the rear space, but one could argue that was back to 'transport' again, just with an artillery piece rather than troops.)
Hmm. I haven't plaued SWTOR for a bit, but for some reason I remember them having 6-legged versions of the Manka, with the third pair of legs being where you have the side turrets here.
Facts! And it lives up to the title as an All Terrain Walker that can literally walk on the side of a cliff (The Battle of Teth), on a asteroid (Battle of Bothawui) magnetized on a ship (Cargo of Doom), etc.
@@JaigEyesStudios Absolutely! And all the tech with the tractor beam and magnets all fit into the six foot pads, no wasted space, plus the 2 AT-RTs it could carry and deploy.
the first order was supposto improve apon the old imperial designs and learn from theyre mistakes but they still use such an impracticle design they should of created something that is a mix of the at-at and the at-te
"have no restrooms or refreshers". As if tanks, APCs or cars ever had those 😉 Other than that, i completely agree. Like why not use the tech droids used? Make either dedicated hovering transport vehicles or dedicated tanks/antiair vehicles and have them deployed simultaneously. If empire had units like that, they would totally obliterate the rebels.
I think you need to check notes with metanerdz since the laat itself can't carry an at-te but only a specialized version named differently can carry it
@@ReySkywalker2 The AT-M6 is still the worst design. With the added front legs, it throws away any advantage a walker could have. They could’ve just not made the walker even taller than the AT-AT. The main laser seems to have a horrible firing arc and it wouldn’t work as a troop transport. There almost no redeeming qualities to it.
@@andrewsurja3580 The front legs protect it from being tripped, fixing a major design flaw of the AT-AT. The legs also lower the centre of mass of the walker, making it more stable. The main laser cannon was able to hit Luke from a long distance so I don’t see how it’s firing arcs horrible. The AT-M6 is just as a good as a troop transport as the AT-AT. The AT-M6 is just as good as the AT-AT is many ways and better in even more. As this is the case, I can’t see how it doesn’t have redeeming qualities.
@@ReySkywalker2 The front legs also rotated in the opposite direction, it would make the walker have a harder time traversing difficult terrain. The weakness isn’t shown at Craig because of the remarkably flat surface. There’s also no need to make it taller than the AT-AT. With it being taller, it’s just as prone to falling over. It may be resistant to cables but that’s just because four legged stupidly tall walkers just don’t work.
the AT-AT is my favorite, but i really like the AT-M6 also. yes walkers are a stupid design for realistic battels, even the AT-TE is ill prepared for attacks to it sides and the gunner of the dorsel gun is completly exsposed and just begging to be taken out by a sniper or any other hit.....
All Walkers had their faults even the Clones beloved AT-ATE While a great walker it was not perfect, the weaknesses of the AT-ATE was the middle section and underside/belly, a well placed shot from a laser cannon or rocket to these areas can takeout the walker, as we saw in the Battle of Geonosis a single rocket fired from a Hellfire Droid took down an AT-ATE which hit it right in it's underside. Also being lower to the ground made it's underside vulnerable to mines and the last two faults were the Pilot and the main gunner, the Cockpit of the AT-ATE didn't protect the Pilot very well against heavy blaster fire and the Gunner of the Mass Driver Cannon on top was very exposed to blaster fire.
Extremely impractical from ATTE onwards, or deployed in the wrong tactical circumstances. If the walkers had been deployed on Hoth during a snowstorm severe enough to ground speeders, or say planets with hovertech interference, large shallow seas, or volcanic activity, they'd have done much better. The SPMA is a much better workable walker
Wait wait, how does a laser no matter how powerful have recoil? A laser is nothing more than an intensely bright light of a single wave length (simplified definition) or more scientific a device that generates an intense beam of coherent monochromatic light or electromagnetic radiation by stimulated emission of photons from excited atoms or molecules. A beam of light or pulses of light would not induce recoil because there is no weight to light, a regular firearm produces recoil because the projectile has mass (weight) therefore for every action (pushing the bullet or projectile forward down the barrel by expanding gasses) theres an equal reaction i.e. Recoil
Walkers couldn't exist in the real world for one simple reason: they are too easy to destroy by being tripped up. That was shown in both the Empire Strikes Back and in Return of the Jedi. The Empire should have used tanks instead.
Little known fact- the Imperial Walker deployed a secret weapon when unloading it's troop compliment- it's ability to look like a nervous dog taking a shit. This would cause the enemy to laugh so hard that they could not fire their weapons in order to contest the deployment of soldiers.

I love the AT-AT despite all its flaws. I wonder why they could not just mount turrets near the door sections of the middle of its body.
The gorilla walker is overmuch, and the at-at is good and all, but AT TE is my favorite and is good as well. It just needs armor under the engine and is good to go
But you got to admit, that gorilla walker really upped the rule of cool.
This is great entertainment while I sit on the can and take a poop. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I can’t wait for the AT-DETH in Star Wars Episode X: The Resurrection of Anakin and Death Star I and Somehow Palpatine Returned Again!
Imagine how terrified the galaxy will be if each system has a super weapon equipped Ultra Mega Walker! All remaining systems will bow to the First Second Empire and remember this as first day of unique Star Wars Content!
well the AT-TE proved it was the best in the rebels show, Rex and his brothers managed to defeat two AT-ATs in a rusted out AT-TE
Always love vids like this especially from this channel in particular. I would love to see you cover the A6 Juggernaut(the Clone Turbo Tank) or the CIS's Providence Destroyer both from Star Wars. Stay awesome.
Disney put no effort into law, "let's just make it bigger".
You forgot to mention this but the AT-TE was also a troop transport and could carry and deploy 2 All Terrain reconnisance transport walkers as well via elevator and side doors. Excellent review though.
Yeah, I did forgot to mention it.
Very interesting video 👍
The 6-legged AT-TE all the way 😅😉
Very in-depth information, well presented - thank you. Can you do one with the x-ray of Mark Hamill's head ? I'm tipping we might discover in the void of where his brain should be, we'll find a peanut hanging from a string.
AT-TE is the best, and I will die on that hill.
Nice
Thanks
8:05 my question is, how that big dropship could have enough place in a star destroyer?
Yes and how were they deployed?
Good video but you missed the AT-ST , the bipedal walkers we see on Endor. And one place in The Mandolorian.
Like I mentioned earlier on my video, i will only focus on the 4-6 legged variants and not the 2.
@@Halfscreen Ah, opps! I missed that. Apologies. Hopefully you'll come back to the bipedals. :D
@@llloyd4 No problem. I may do a separate video on the two-legged variant. It really depends on how well this video performs.
AT AT Walkers were so neat .
I like the first ones more. Because they’re lower to the ground.
Defenetly the mighty AT-AT
Great video is usual my friend awesome video I love it those workers are awesome but you're right they're not good for war because they'll be tiptoe over very easy.. I think those workers are probably better for maintenance work or to a backup for troops to deploy or do work but not to actually war
The ATTE legs look longer than what I’ve remembered/scene. It looks really weird specifically the front and back legs.
(they could have door gunners, but that required exposing the interior, and there was the version with the large cannon replacing most of the rear space, but one could argue that was back to 'transport' again, just with an artillery piece rather than troops.)
how were the AT-ATs deployed to the surface?
How in the world can an AT TE go over 60mph 😳
actually 60km/h, about 37mp/h, but it's still pretty damn fast for that shit
Nice animations but 1) You leave several walker types out and 2) You tend to repeat yourself a lot.
Hmm. I haven't plaued SWTOR for a bit, but for some reason I remember them having 6-legged versions of the Manka, with the third pair of legs being where you have the side turrets here.
so basically the AT AT is based off from the apc and the atte? good to know since the apc has the same turnable cockpit
The clone troopers had the best Walker
Facts! And it lives up to the title as an All Terrain Walker that can literally walk on the side of a cliff (The Battle of Teth), on a asteroid (Battle of Bothawui) magnetized on a ship (Cargo of Doom), etc.
The First Order UA-TT disagrees.
@@ReySkywalker2 On the contrary, The Grand Army of the Republic disagrees, scavenger.
As if tanks, APCs or cars ever had those 😉
Other than that, i completely agree. Like why not use the tech droids used? Make either dedicated hovering transport vehicles or dedicated tanks/antiair vehicles and have them deployed simultaneously. If empire had units like that, they would totally obliterate the rebels.
I have to mentioned the no restroom because on my last video on the AT-AT, that is the number questions asked.
What about that one 4 legged walker on Starkiller base?
I think you need to check notes with metanerdz since the laat itself can't carry an at-te but only a specialized version named differently can carry it
And in solo it's visible that there is another ship used to carry an at-at. You really need to check facts before posting a video..
I just forgot to mentioned the Laat/c. Its just the variant version of the Laat. The video should be enough.
I want to see this but for AT-ST's and AT-RT's even though their scale is different.
Kind of ironic that the main weakness (their high centers of gravity and those goofy legs) only got worse with every evolution… 🤣
Nah the AT-M6 has wider feet relative to its body size and they have a wider surface of contact. They’re slightly better than the Imperial AT-AT’s.
Walking Cargo Vehicle (1969) by Syd Mead is the best and original walker, design stolen by Lucas.
Does it come in black?
Attes deserved a little more attention they can carry more troops have a command room and can climb. Vertical
They only used Fusion reactors when they could of used Hyper-matter...
What about the AT-AP
actually the atte could be operated by as little as just 3 soldiers
a pilot, a spotter and a internal mass driver gunner
You missed a few walkers. AT-OP,AT-ACT,the early AT-AT version circa 10-5 BBY and the First Order AT-AT.
Hmmm..Didn't know about these until now. Might have to do an update version already.
@@Halfscreen there’s also the clone wars era AT-AT pretty much a pronto imperial at-at with a much more boxier design, and skinny legs
@@dennisgalindez4802 Yes, unfortunately, I couldn't find the 3D asset.
Nothing Disney has done is canon to me
you forgot the AT-OP (All Terrain Open Transport)
All Walkers had their faults even the Clones beloved AT-ATE
While a great walker it was not perfect, the weaknesses of the AT-ATE was the middle section and underside/belly, a well placed shot from a laser cannon or rocket to these areas can takeout the walker, as we saw in the Battle of Geonosis a single rocket fired from a Hellfire Droid took down an AT-ATE which hit it right in it's underside.
You missed the AT-AA from Empire at War. :(
Hmmm. Never heard about this particular AT.
So where's the walker from Rogue One?
60km per hour? That's moving for something that big. A squad of them would shake the ground apart at the speed.
Why does this guy keep saying "reekle" instead of recoil?
There is only one rule on an AT-AT - no PP!
Damn, no bathroom? That sucks.
Why you animated the atat
The 3D model was rigged with animation, the other didn't have rig animation.
the clone war walkers were the best, those things were deadly and far superior than the later models.
AT-AE??? AT-TE I think you meant to say.
Nice, but this is inconsistent with the "inside an at te" video".
The at-te video is a bit older of an older video.
The AT-M6 has retractable saws on the legs that can slice through wires
At-te
remember, children, walkers as a concept are just as bullshit as mechs, no matter how cool they might look.
They would be better on skates.
Walkers=junk. This is why we do not use them. To impractical. Now that aside they do look cool....
