I like the fact that it brings the entire recruited character party into the fight for a change instead of pretending they don't exist except for a few cut scenes like normal RPGs, haha.
I am noticing Tales of Arise and Xenoblade Chronicles did the same thing too now. I always liked the idea of having your entire playable cast, be playing in battle all at the same time. I always thought it would be possible, especially with todays technology.
I'm super excited for this addition to the series. I'm eager to see how a 6 man team dynamic adds to the difficulty of the game. Has anyone seen anything as far as getting trophies to reach above level 100 yet?
flamehiro well 15 really wasn't crap. Game play was fun, characters were interesting, world was just amazing as well as the depth story. Only thing that held it back was lack of content within the game, such as cutscenes showing more of the plot. But if you look at it as it is and not what you were expecting it's a great game.

I can't believe my dream is finally coming true and through one of the most beloved franchises I've ever played! I can't believe it how much RPGs are evolving and so quickly! This game might actually beat out, dare I say it, Star Ocean Till The End Of Time (SO3)! I can't wait to buy! My summer lineup is looking very RPG heavy this year! WOOH! Thank god for JRPGs NO MP online trophies! I wish developers place MP online trophies in a separate tab like those DLC trophies. If it wasn't for these trophies, my platinum count would've been doubled.

Lucas Wynn I'm sorry for your lost. But have no fear. Ps4 has way better exclusives: Uncharted God of War Last of Us Bloodborne Horizon Zero Dawn (likely to win this year GoTY) And others that I can't think of. I highly recommend playing Horizon, Bloodborne (if you've played dark souls or ever been interested in them), and Last of Us. Uncharted is amazing as well, male version of tomb raider in a way.
Definitely getting this game The story lines in these games are awesome and so in depth. My problems with the series lie in the lack of visible armor alterations showing up on a character. They wear the same outfit the entire game and never alter it, it's boring. Second is maybe some weapon customization. Each character could have unique personal abilities based on the weapon equipped. Anyhow they're just opinions of mine and won't stop me from loving the game.
Dear Square Enix, Why isn't the Star Ocean The Second Story/Second Evolution in digital format for US fans? We've seen many conversions for the PS4 and PSVita. It's been released in Japan for years. Fans will buy it in a digital format...it's all we ever WANTED. Come on, more than 85 endings??? That screams more ease on a digital platform!
To each thier own. I personally enjoy the free roam battles and every character kinda doing their own thing. If i want turn based, I'll just stick with the older Final Fantasy games
Feels quite rushed tbh, you're thrown straight into the game with no real introduction to characters. They could have taken more time between events. Seems they've done away with cutscenes (mostly) which I feel are a crucial part to character build and get you interested in the characters. I'm kind of getting into it, but it doesn't feel as good as the previous 2 for me

rob19ny To be fair, SO4 was a 360 exclusive when it first came out. I bought a 360 just to play it because I didn't think they'd bring it to PS3. I only ever used that 360 to play SO4. I pulled it out of the closet a few years later to use it as a DVD player and it RROD'd. Thankfully SO4 was out for PS3 by that time.

The strong support 360 got at the start dwindled in the end and became scarce on X1. You've got Japanese company's like Square Enix outright saying in interviews last year that they want to spread PS4's and give gamers a reason to buy them with their announced and upcoming unannounced games. That's why they've been ignoring since E3 2014 and only have Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts III, and Final Fantasy Type-0 HD on X1. Look at the "Tales of" games. Producer Hideo Baba said a couple years ago that the Tales of Vesperia experiment on Xbox won't happen again and that "Tales of" games are only on PlayStation(Just in case: PC is not a console and is an afterthought). If anyone thought Xbox would get Japanese support on par with PS and Nintendo, they haven't been following. Sorry for the rant. I'll assume you know this already.

You've obviously never played one to be saying those words. One of the best JRPG franchises out there. And you have a persona avatar so this should be right up your alley if you want a great story, characters, and gameplay. Don't want this one get the Till the end of time on PS2 or the first two.

That is very chaotic for a JRPG, especially if everyone is going all at once. Persona has nothing to do with SO except that they're both JRPGs. I've heard some not so positive things about SO3 and SO4, so I'm not sure how much weight the SO franchise alone packs. But in general, I'm not a fan of action based combat in a JRPG. I prefer turn based. Which is obviously not going to happen with 7 characters or it would take forever.

Looks great, huge fan of "most" of the series but as I've gotten older I have evolved as a person and a gamer and no longer play with or see the purpose of solo purpose console gaming machines and exclusively play on PC. I foresee frame rate being a big issue with a 7 person battle system on these limited power glorified $400 DVD players. This game NEEDS a PC release to be a fluidly functional game and lets be honest most of your fan base is my age (25-35) and prob aren't sitting around stroking their epeens about their favorite console getting exclusives anymore, they are on PC where real gaming happens. #NoStickTwiddeling#PCMasterRace

Arise did? U can switch them out like ffx...oh and the special attacks. XB3 is a good example tho

My favorite is SO2, SO1 was also fun, the rest were mediocre in comparison.
