@@Busiless how do you get your device to play the sample? i can only use my keyboard to demo the samples for some reason. And i cant hear the sample unless its in transient mode? i cant demo it in manual mode?>
@@Unknownn_nx3 Hi. Well, let's find out what could be wrong here. If you have the track armed and you can use your midi (or computer keyboard) to play sample and it is working in the Trigger mode but not in the manual then maybe you need to lower the octave on your midi keyboard. I did a test just now and loaded sample into the simpler and when I went into the trigger mode the default octave C note (C2) was triggering the 13th slice. When I entered the Manual slicing mode, it didn't trigger anything until I made 13 slices. When I switched OCT - on my midi (or Z key if you're using your computer keyboard) it started triggering C1 note which played slices from the first one. Hope that works, if not let me know more details! Also my midi KB Pads also are by default configured that they trigger notes C1 to G1 (including sharps) like these are by default preset in some drum rack default kits. Hope that helps! 🤘😎

@FirewOrldrollz great. Like there’s also a choke parameter inside drum rack which can cause the same. It’s used for hi hat open and close so they don’t play together
Hi. As far as I know you would have to manually slap the sample into each cell and in the simpler inside drum rack adjust the beginning of the sample. Everyone you spice that automatically into drum rack, it creates a new drum rack. Unless I'm missing something here 😊🤘😎
Thanks for posting this! One question tho, Is there any setup regarding midi channels or setting the pads to trigger specific notes? I have a Arturia Beatstep (not the pro) and i'm having issues mapping drum racks to the pads
Hi Dieter-4 Thanks for watching. Well I guess there's two things you could do. First is to see which notes correspond to the pads you're pressing. So normally (at least in Minilab) first pad corresponds to C1 note (then C#,D,D#,E,F,F#,G and so on). So if your pads are "pressing" different notes you can always move all drum rack samples to your pads notes. You can see that easily on the drum rack (the tiny grid on the left), or slap a piano or any midi instrument on another track and see what notes the pads are playing to find out. Second thing is that you can go (or download first) the Arturia Midi Control Center, and there you can map your pads to different notes if you wish. Also maybe not on the default preset, but if you press Shift + Pad2 or Shift + Pad3 (on your Beatstep) then you might have different mappings assigned to the pads. Try that and let me know ;) 🤘😎
Hi I have a question. Once the samples are in the drumrack, is there a way to modify all the samples. For example if I decide that I want to transpose all of the samples is it possible or I have to redo the process? Thanks :)
Hi Charles. For what I can think of there is only a way to transpose each individual sample in a drum rack cell separately. The other way is to use Max4Live device if you have Ableton suite. There is one in M4L Building blocks (free) pack and it can transpose whatever is before, so the whole drum rack for example. It can even transpose R and L channel differently. What Else? you can manually go through each slice and map each transpose knob (from simpler) to ONE and the same drum rack macro. Then you can modify that drum rack as much as you want. But if it's a one time decision then I'd redo the slices if there are many of them. All the best 🤘😎
Hi. Well I guess that could be a bottle tricky as the drum pads are also playing notes. I guess the only way would be to reprogram one of the keyboard midi presets inside the keyboard to play lower notes, like 2 octaves lower, then load drum rack on one track shift the samples to lower octaves like the drum pads are. Then load piano on another track, change the midi range in piano roll so it doesn't play there same low octaves. Then finally arm both tracks and if you did it right, it should work 😂🤘😎. Guess that's actually really tricky 🤨 good luck.
When i attempt to arrange my samples in the piano roll they mute one another not allowing more than one to play at once. Any workaround for this? Thanks in advance
Hi Robert. Yes, there is a way. If you're still in Simpler, just switch to "Classic" instead of "1-shot" or "slice" and make sure you set "voices" (just below the sample waveform) to how many voices you want to hear (6 is default). But if you have "sliced to drum rack", on a very left edge of a drum rack device you have these 4 tiny round buttons (macros-dial icon, macro variations-photo icon, devices - 2 bars icon, chain list - option icon) so click on the fourth one "show/hide chain list" and then 3 more should appear underneath. Now click on the first new one "I-O" and it will show you some options. Which note is the slice assigned to, which note pitch it will play, and the "CHOKE GROUP" that's what you're looking for. It will look like: "Slice 1 | C1 | C3 | 1 | 0.0dB......" and all of the slices will have that Choke set to "1" by default. Now just change all of them to "none" and you're done. This is used when you want to silence one sample while playing another, and you can have multiple groups of Choking :D. Let me know if that helps :) all the best 🤘😎
@@Busiless Bro you are my hero! Thank you so much! I had to duplicate this clip multiple times as a workaround and delete the parts I had created in the previous clips. I find it strange that it defaults to being choked when instruments and other drum kits are not. Though I have heard of the choke function, I have never had to deal with it until now. There are some problems a google search just doesn't find solutions for haha. Thanks again my friend!
No problem. Happy to help 😁 yes the choke is mostly used in hi-hats I guess. But if you're sampling an instrument to play notes with it I guess the good way is to multisample it and use ranges. But I'll make a video on it soon 😎
In terms of pitch correction? I heard that Melodyne is really good and sounds natural. Autotune recently announced some more affordable packages too. From the free would be MAutoPitch.
Hi I’m not exactly sure what you mean but I’m guessing two things. There is a tiny diskette icon in the corner of every Ableton device so you can save the preset or the rack. Or if you want to slice sample to an existing drum rack preset you can slice the sample to a new drum rack and then maybe move the cells from one to another and then save it s as well. Let me know if that’s what you’re looking for
@@Busiless first of all thanks for the answer 🙏 , i didnt ment that exactly , i mean that if i have now really complex drum rack and i want to use the slicer of simpler and send the slices directly to the drum rack i did , how can i do it ? I have an Idea - what you can do is to have both drum rack next to each other in the session view. Set the your main big drum rack on the left and the newly sliced drum rack on the right, then open them both fully with the tiny arrow down next to the Drum rack name. Now you have all cells as separate tracks. You can highlight all the new ones on the right and drag and drop ALL to the left, main Drum rack :D - Would that work?
@@Busiless Hi i go simpler to sampler than to fix it then. Drum rack has simplers loaded root on c3 when i load a a minor kick in, it plays it in another tune ...
Hi. I was trying to reproduce the issue but no luck. For what I think is that normally whatever audio sample I load into drum rack it stays the same pitch as original, which I can then transpose inside the simpler. What might happen in your case is that the simpler loads with default Warping in a "repitch" mode.(you can then save simpler setting as default) Or in the Ableton's settings in Warping section, something is set wrong there. Try switching off any default warping. Of course if you load any synth into the drum rack cell it will trigger C3 note by default, you can change it clicking on the I-O button on the tiny, left panel of the drum rack and then there is that C3 shown in chains. Let me know if it is any of that? 🤘😎
