I've noticed that many Ableton Live drum tutorials on TH-cam go directly to using the "manual" method of laying sounds on the timeline-which is cool and all, but it sort of defeats the purpose of using Ableton Live tools… This video does a fantastic job of explaining how using the Drum Rack can be an efficient way of producing drums in Ableton Live. (There is nothing wrong with the "manual" method-and as he described, it's a good idea to use a hybrid approach. But man, it would be great to see more producers use Drum Racks more efficiently out there… 🙂)
    Great work!

Great video! You can also separate each cell into individual tracks by creating the same number of new midi tracks as you have cells and simply drag each cell straight onto each midi track. You can do more processing to each sample that way too.

A performing musician first and foremost so I’ve stuck to software instruments for writing more than samples, just because they feel more like instruments. But I know I’m missing out. This video goes deep on Drum Rack but super easy to follow. With any luck this will help my sample library grow as quickly as my VST folder haha. Ableton is amazing :)
