I have a '22 460. I like the 550 but dont want to give up my silky smooth old reliable V8. Its the last Toyota V8. And I like the front styling on the 460 better with the big ridiculous grill. Also like the barn door on the back. Thought id be jealous when I saw the 550 but Im not.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I will also get a 550 one day. I know theyl continue to improve it over the years. But il keep my 460. I want to see if that legendary V8 will really go a million miles.
Premium plus 460 has electric rear 3rd row seats . The only 2 things I wish my 2021 460 had is 3 binker turn signals and a rear under floor cargo compartment big enough for tow straps and some tools
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I’d assume you have driven both. It really came down to that for me. The new platform on the GX and Land Cruiser have a lateral type shuddering In the way they handle that the 460 just does not. The 460 handles so much more eloquently from my experience on all of these that I have driven. The Land Cruiser has the same circumstance yet a little lesser due to the tire sidewall height but it’s still there. The electronic steering on the new GX was so strange. I literally test drove the 460 and the 550 on tapanga canyon in California. I know that canyon incredibly well from surfing and hauling ass lol. The 460 just did what I thought it would do like any other car. The 550 was kind of strange I was headed into a turn, and all of a sudden I realized I needed to turn the wheel another 3/4 of a turn to make the turn. The last time I ever experienced anything like that was in a 1950 Ford business coupe up in Ojai and the power steering was bad lol this caused the 550 to dive to the right incredibly because it doesn’t have KDSS unless you have the over trail model. The new Land Cruiser with highbred really felt weird to me too. That hybrid engine winding up and not in a real smooth way felt really odd. I am all about the environment for real, but taking a car and adding that on it with a $10,000 battery that’s only probably good for 10 years is a really good way to take the “reliability quote factor and pretty much just throw it out the window. I wanted a car that I would keep for 20 years literally. The GX and the new Land Cruiser are not those compared to a GX460. Heck I don’t even like the way the GX 460 looks half the time but it was clearly the right choice for me.Also the new interiors don’t compare to the 460 either. They’ve taken the drivers leg room left to right and made it feel like an old defender. If you move your right leg into the center consul on the GX the whole damn consul shifts same with the door panel. The 460 has more room left to right in the leg room department so if you’re tall like me you feel locked in on the new ones more. Also the 460 has a pretty good track record, the new ones are still to be determined and clearly will have issues for the first few years large or small who knows. And honestly between the GX 550 and the Land Cruiser new, the Land Cruiser would be my choice in and around it it just looks like it is what it is, opposed to the GX that’s a little bit like lipstick on a pig and not luxury. Everyone will have their impressions this is Just mine. Sorry for typos I was voice to text lol
It may be a smaller displacement but you didn’t hear the power figures? Way more power and capable of towing the added weight which it was designed to do. I actually just used a GX550 to tow 6K pounds and it didn’t even feel the weight.
What happened to the LX 570? It was based on the Land Cruiser platform. The 25' 550 is the Land Cruiser and the 24' 460 is the Four Runner. That being said why didn't Toyota/Lexus didn't bring back the LX name. Should've been LX 550 and kept the GX on the Four Runner platform.
I haven’t seen one on the lot to use, this seemed like a fair comparison. Did the LX570 have a third row as well? These dimensions were very close to be comparable.
@BrosFOURRSpeed I'm sure it had a third row because the LX was on the old Land Cruiser platform the version they sell to Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦. I googled and found out that Lexus is going to reveal a 25' LX all revamped to fit Lexus current design language.
@@reynaldocordero4247 Yeah the last gen Lane cruiser and LX were the same cars. And the GX was the 4Runner. Now the new GX is the same car as the new Land Cruiser. Which is all on the same platform as the Tacoma and new 4Runner.
@BrosFOURRSpeed Ah ok. I didn't know that. The Tacoma 4runner and Land Cruiser now all on the same platform. Toyota would be the Japanese Truck/SUV I would get. Honda doesn't do Trucks and SUVs like Toyota.
C'mon, the GX 550 engines are crap (do some research). The turbos are a disappointment where whole engines are getting scrapped due to catastrophic failure. Secondly, I don't like the new boxy shape. The 460 has an over tested V8 with a 6-speed transmission since 2010. The 460 looks elegant and bult like a tank. Why would I want all the unnecessary electronics and turbos adding to more crap that will go bad and need repair?
Agreed. If I wanted to buy a rolling turd of fire on wheels Id buy a Nissan. Too bad we are losing reliable Lexus and Toyota options. Willing to pay Toyota tax if it'll last 15-20 years. These new models will all be in a junkyard in 5 years.

Really love the look of the new 550, but wish the back window went down like the 4Runner. I do like the lighter interior of the 460. Great video!
Yeah thats a cool feature. But the new 4runner still retains that
I chose the 460 in June. I’d pass on 550 100% and would move to LC but didn’t chose that over 460 either.

Yes, turbos add much more HP and TQ which increases towing capacity. Not sure why people aren't up to speed on this by now.
