I’ve been waiting for you to do a review on this unit! I’m sure you will love this machine as I do. I love the fresh bean grind, definitely gives the coffee a fresh and tasteful flavor. Also, the reason it stops when you do 2 shots of espresso it to give you a true double shot. A lot of other units recycle the grind that was already in there and in return you get a watered down double shot. Anyway! Love your videos!!! Keep up the great work🙌
Scratch and Dent update: absolutely zero damage to the machine, works perfectly at less than half the price of retail. Amazing machine at an amazing price!
Are you still enjoying the machine? About to purchase a scratch and dent. Is the coffee temperature adjustable? It's coffee hot enough?@@robfromgpw5243
I recently picked up the 5400 and really like it so far. Switched from a Ninja Dual Brew + Breville Touch and kind of wanted 1 machine to do everything with very little hassle and wanted to reduce the amount of "pods" i was using.
How would you compare the Philips to the Delonghi True Brew? Also, how many oz of coffee is it brewing? Looks like the single or double is the amount of coffee used - but what the coffee level button do? Does it just add more water to the cup? I could not find any info in the manual. thanks
This or delonghi truebrew ? Im not looking for the perfect espresso. Im more like 8oz with a bit of cold almond milk on top. Wife the same but more milk
I've owned several super automatic machines like this one. I am going back to manual machine after my current machine dies. To be honest, these things are a PAIN to clean and maintain and expressive as well. You don't really save cleaning time, and it's more of deferring your cleaning, so you do it every few days. And because of the moisture and condensation, you really can't neglect or delay cleaning too much, as mold will build up inside. You also have to constantly descale the machine because there aren't many parts that you can take apart to do deep cleaning. Because of many tubing and different materials in the machine, it's not a good idea to use vinegar to descale, so you end up buying cleaning tablets and descale powders, which adds up to be a nice chunk of money. In my estimation, the money I've spend on cleaning tablets and solutions is enough to buy a cheap manual espresso machine very year.. Most of these plunger based brewing units really don't produce a good shot, so to compensate the machine uses a ton of beans, which increases cost per shot. You've be surprised that a $100 manual espresso machine can put out better shots. Buy these machine if convenience is your #1 concern.
The way I understand it, so long as you use the filter and replace it every 5-6 months, the descaling only needs to happen every couple of years (4-5,000 cups). You do need to grease the inside once a month, but not extensive. I like that the milk carafe is dishwasher safe; most people keep the whole thing in the fridge and wash it once a week. No tubes too.
Yes, philips has a really good machine that's minimal maintenance. If popping out the brew unit once a week to rinse, then air dry overnight and changing a filter every few months is too much work, I highly doubt a manual would be your best choice I love my 5400
Philips 5400 is an average machine and does not put out good shots. If you think it's a good shot, then you are mistaking. 3200 and 5400 are all the same inside, they merely altered control panel and external appearance. If you think a weekly rinse of the brew unit is enough, then you are mistaking again... Give it time and you will feel the effect of interior buildup.
My 3200 machine makes just as good of a shot as my breville manual machine did. I have had my 3200 machine for a year now and have not had to replace the filter or descale the machine. I clean the machine every time I empty the grinds. I set the water hardness level accordingly and it works beautifully.
@@pureluck8767 If that's happening, then you have not dialed in your manual machine. I bought and returned the 3200 because the shots were bad...compared to a well executed shot on # lousy $100 machine from Amazon.
You inspired me to buy this machine shortly after watching this review and doing research. I love it and I had it for about a year now.
