    Thanks guys. Great video and good comprehensive review. Went with this model based on your rec. I’m kind of coffee snob, but I many times don’t have 10-15 minutes to prepare my manual espresso. Hopefully this will provide a suitable substitute when I’m in a rush or just don’t feel like tinkering with the laborious process involved in weighting the beans, manually grinding the beans, boiling water, warming the water basket, prepare the tamp and pushing the lever for 30-40 seconds (and then cleaning and washing everything afterwards).

    I’ve been using my Phillips 1200 for almost 2 years now. No issues. I also use the Lavazza super crema. I’ve tried many others and it is the best all around beans; especially for the money…around $20 for 2.2lbs. Dark rich flavor without beans being oily.

      I recall the lowest setting or close to it. I no longer have this machine. I sold it and stepped up to a semi automatic with separate grinder. It’s more work but I am getting better results

      Thanks for the video. Just got mine a few says ago. Loving it so far. I also am having an issue with the coffee going cold fast, so I will order the cups you recommended.
      Maintenance wise I read that the Aqua filter doesn't last nearly as long as advertised, how long does it last you guys, and what water hardness have you set on the machine?
      Also how is greasing the machine? I couldn't find a good video explaining how to do it properly, and the manual isn't clear for me. So I'm wondering if it's as difficult as it seems.

    • @lonestarguys
      @lonestarguys  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Excellent, congratulations on your machine! We tested our water using filtered water from a ZeroWater pitcher we keep in the refrigerator and the test strip said it was the lowest/softest setting which is what we use. We still only use filtered water (so we don't have to replace the Aqua filter as often) and have only had to replace it once in 5 months) The manual however says to replace at least every 3 months.
      Greasing the machine is pretty simple - I had to get a magnifying glass to see where on the diagrams were pointing to! Manual says to do this every 2 months and we've kept to that schedule - bought another tube of grease from Amazon. Cheers!

    Hello Guys! Greetings from Switzerland and thanks for the video! In fact just purchased the same machine today. What is a bit annoys me is all the coffee pods are falling apart, I would expect they stay intact. That would be a sign of a nicely pressed pod. How is yours looks like in the bin? Thanks!

    • @lonestarguys
      @lonestarguys  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello and thanks! We noticed that about the discard pods when we first got our machine too. Darren adjusted the grind setting to a finer setting (by a couple of dots) a for a stronger brew and the discarded pods now mostly stay together.

    I'm pretty much sold on this machine to replace my pod one. Just 1 question. My current machine makes pretty tepid milky coffee which means i have to drink it quickly. Does the Phillips make hot milky drinks?

    • @lonestarguys
      @lonestarguys  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Paul! Yes this machine makes hot cappuccinos and lattes - the milk is steamed by the LatteGo system so it is hot when it mixes with the espresso to make both drinks. I drink both cappuccinos and lattes and am very happy with the temperature of both. Enjoy!

  • @brianhartman927

    Love your video! We just got the 3200 and have been testing drinks today. There don’t seem to be many grounds, or pucks, collecting in the container. There is only some wet sludge, not compacted pucks that I’m used to seeing with normal espresso machines. Is that normal?

    • @lonestarguys
      @lonestarguys  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      We also had the same wet sludge with the default grind setting but once we changed the grind to a finer setting the compacted pucks were holding together more. We also bumped up the strength (bean icon) to the strongest setting (3 dots) since we like our drinks bold. As long as the taste is the way you like though, I wouldn't be concerned with the discard grounds/pucks.

      Hi Shelley! You can use whatever coffee beans you like - they don't have to be espresso beans. We use LavAzza Super Crema coffee beans and like the smoothness. Once you find the coffee beans you like you can always adjust the strength to your liking using the "bean" button (1 is the weakest, 2 is the default, and 3 is the strongest)

    • @lonestarguys
      @lonestarguys  ปีที่แล้ว

      The only adjustment I needed to make the coffee stronger was to make the grind finer (like you did). We use Lavazza Super Crema Whole Bean Coffee Blend, Medium Espresso Roast. I've read that new machines need multiple espresso pulls (like 20-30) before they adjust to the correct boldness. I've also read that "cheaper" beans can make for stronger coffee. Ultimately, these "super automatic" machines are a balance between convenience and customization - you get lots of the former but not as much of the latter.
