    Gail: it’s so satisfying to hear you say your signature phrase - “let’s make a drink.”

    Gail rocks the coffee machine reviews. She cuts to the chase, gives a real opinion, and hits the areas of real concern.

    Gail, you're a champ. Best review I’ve found. Told me one of the most important things about these machines , that the coffees hot. Sold me on philips.

    Nice video which may have saved me a thousand bucks. Genius idea to compare these two. Most people wouldn't think of it given the differing price points.

    Philips 5400 gives you profiles. Great machine for the money.

    Gail is so clear and easy to understand. No waffle and no favouritism. Other TH-cam presenters please note! Just one thing, any chance you could give the quantities in Metric as well as US measurements? It would make things easier to understand for us Europeans!

    On the Philips, what is the difference between the Coffee and Americano setting? I know Americano is espresso plus hot water, so what does the Coffee setting do?

    the ease of use let me chose Philips 3200 LatteGo for my in-law father, my kids to make coffee drinks for themselves......it is in the morning, you would not have to fight the machine how to make a proper coffee!

    Your pros and cons concluding the video might now be tipped heavily to the Philips side with the new 4300 model. The new 4300 model addresses some of the missing features. Thoughts?

      omg i am loving mines, i’ve probably made about 150 cups of coffee since christmas, loved it so much i returned the 4300 just to get the 5400 with the color screen lol, But it’s the best for the price and what it gives,

    miele is double price anf premium brand, like Mercedes-Benz, Philips is regular brand, half miele price, like regular car, VW, both are good, depends on your budget and brand preferability, I bought just now the Philips Latego, can't wait until it arrives ☺️

      The Miele will produce better coffee but the 3200 offers alot. The coffee extraction was longer on the Miele. Our son is waiting for the 4300 to be released and we are considering the 6350 on sale of a Jura ENA8

    I always fill my water reservoir with Brita filtered water. In this case do I really need an additional philips water filter?

  • @FrankLeeMadeere

    The extraction time on that Miele had to be TWICE the Philips (almost the same as manual draws)... was the taste really that close?

    • @docvrilliant
      @docvrilliant 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Should a cappuchino be seperated at all? It's kinda the point to mix the milk into the espresso shot. Would be more of a problem with a macchiato

    • @Justin-pk8eq
      @Justin-pk8eq 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      it seems to make smaller foam bubbles on that drink. The latte macchiato makes much more considerable separation.

    • @1101naomi
      @1101naomi 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ziltoid The omniscient Both machines start with pouring in the milk which isn’t how a cappuccino is made. I just found it interesting there were two different outcomes with the same technique.

    • @noelrmiller
      @noelrmiller 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think it's due to a process called double-diffusive convection-it's the same phenomenon that makes layers in the ocean. The espresso in the Miele was hotter then in the Philips. Hotter liquid stays separated and mixes only at the boundary horizontally. I looked it up!

  • @МиколаКаправчук-й6ю
    @МиколаКаправчук-й6ю 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thx a lot for review ( mostly for Miele). But it doesn’t not have too many sense for comparing of that machines. When Philips can give you 10-11 grams coffee, and Miele 16 grams. Miele gives you really good espresso ☕️ and as a result better cappuccino, latte , latte macchiato etc. From my perspective more reasonable competition ( if we are talking about ~same quality of espresso for less money), could be with Nivona 756 or Melitta Passione Ot / Latticia Ot. And off course if we ignore price , then Miele vs Jura.
    Of course, if it is not a advertisement of Phillips .

    • @Reedo302

      No. I was going to buy the Miele 5500 SGC model, but the Black Friday Philips sale was hard to pass up and I got the 3200 LatteGo. I’m glad I did, because the 3200 does everything I need it to, and it makes a great Latte or Cappuccino. The only way I would pay more money for a superautomatic would be for the full drink adjustment customization of the Saeco Xelsis. Short of that, the 3200 LatteGo is excellent.

    Quick question Gail i noticed when you were making the cappuccino on the LatteGo the craft was leaking water. Is that normal or was the milk container not properly seated? If it wasn't seated properly and the problem goes away then I'm sold

    • @SeattleCoffeeGear

      We haven't experienced any leaking on ours. I would agree that Gail just didn't get the carafe seated correctly.

    Anyone with knowledge, what's the best grind setting for the Lattego? I've only run about 75 espresso shots thus far. I like espresso, Americanos, and drip coffee. What's the best ratio of aroma setting to water for drinks seen at coffee shops? So, then is the espresso x2 large 5.25oz, essentially 5 shots?

    • @uramalakia
      @uramalakia 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After reading up on it a bunch, it is my understanding that you shouldn't really mess with the grinder setting unless the default setting is too fine for your taste. Meaning you can go larger but not finer. My understanding is that the primary function of grinder settings is to set it finer when the grinding stones of the grinder start wearing out with use. As for aroma etc... that's up to personal preference I guess.

    The only quibble I have with the Philips is it's a bit noisy, and somewhat sloppy while it's working. The Miele operates more smoothly, and it should for more than half the price of the Philips. But my biggest thing is the temp of the drink. I had to return a Jura (with a competitor) because I'd have to microwave my drink after every pour. If you all can truly vouch for the fact that either machine produces a good "HOT" (not scalding obviously) milk drink, then I'll go with the less expensive machine.

    I took a look at the Philips 1200 and 2200 in a store this weekend. It seems very flimsy. Do you really think the machine is robust? Several people on amazon said they loved the machine, but a few people said it broke after a month.
    Does the Miele give the impression that it is robust and less flimsy? I admit I really really like the user interface and milk system of the Philips.
