- Not the best day being circled by a great white shark 2020 while spearfishing for mussel cracker.
The day started of great with my 3rd dive producing a pb cracker. Swam to my stringer and put it on. Made the decision that i was not going to shoot any other fish for the day and just enjoy the dive.
About 20min later i saw a fin in the distance that i did not like on my way up after a dive. I realized that this is a great white shark. I just hoped that he would turn and swim away but this was not the case. He continued to circle me 4 to 5 times coming closer every time. I had to push myself away twice.
Then he swam away and went to grab my fish from the stringer, and that gave me the chance to swim away to shore. - กีฬา
Was telling my GF 4 days ago at Infanta that I feel like diving again. This video just reminded me why I quit and got a boat.. Thank you

from 15.34 you can see the GWhite going hard for the float I watched the video 3 times and only saw today that before you unclipped the float it's still there probably around 25 meters behind you you can clearly see the black finsgoing hard for the fish... stats say that younger Gwhites or juvenile that is your 2.5 to 3.5 meter ones
that are proud to attack more as they are still exploring pity you didn't have that gopro beneath survice all the time but hey

You must edit and upload this video with a separate title on you tube and a indicator round circle at 15.34 onwards there is not many spearfishing videos with GW encounter this long.. I saw the one of the guy in Arneston Cape as well few years ago like in your pic ... he was lucy and so were you
I sometimes still cant bealieve how close they come to the shore I always thought they like deeper waters but they probably search every were ,there is a good chance it was aware of you both not to long after you entered that spot .........

How big was it,? There's nothing to give it scale,could be 4 foot long or 4meters long.
Estimated around 3.5m. Still a puppy. Definitely not 4 feet 😂

Holy GEEZUS...I don't see how you guys spear fish in waters with those fellas :). Let me ask you a question if you have time to answer: What do you think would happen if you never saw it? From the little I know, they seem more prone to attack or bite if they aren't spotted, but I am just going by all of the awesome videos you spear fisherman and other folks put out there. Also, how often do you see a white while spear fishing? Like say out of 10 trips? Thanks for the awesome video...I loved it. Stay safe!
Hi Josh. Thx for the comment and questions. This was my second encounter but i would say we see them about 1 in 20 dives. Something we have to deal with if we want to dive our waters. I have no idea about the attack or not attack when you see them. Some of the guys that live to tell the tails said they never saw them coming and others that was attacked stuck a speargun in their mouth. So i really cant say.
This video was confusing to me...why did he not come right in after seeing the shark and why did he not keep watching him under the water was always in and out of the water??? I thought he should have kept and eye on him all the time.
Hi there. The camera is on my head so my eyes was under the water on the shark all the time. It might seem that I was in and out of the water but that is only the camera. My mask was in the water. There are cliffs and the only exit point was the one that I swam to. Hope that explains it

I have met a handful of South African spearos and you guys are all calm and brave. I would be correct to say you have seen a white before. A little float to place the fish in out of the water is a great idea, especially in dirty water. I have seen them used in New Zealand or you could tow a small kayak. I enjoyed the video.

I think you are spot on with how the fish must feel. I don't shoot that many fish anymore. Very selective at the moment. Big respect to the ocean

Be careful diving in murky waters, the invisibility is also present for sharks. They might come closer to have better investigation to check if you are possible pray or not.
Tricky one. When the water is to clear, the crackers also stay away.

@@Bloudam ...check out nz spear fishing, i think they make and sell them, bit pricey but better than feeding sharks with your catch.
Buy a kid's inflatable swimming ring, and jam a suitably-sized bucket with lid into the middle. Probably cheaper than ordering from abroad.

Hi Loleen. Ek doen spearfishing kursusse as jy sou belang stel. 0829590111. Ek duik glad nie minder na die voorval nie. Het alweer 10 keer op daai plek geduik. Almal kan hulle asem ophou maar dit is ook iets want mens oefen en dan raak dit beter. Party mense kry dit makliker reg as ander maar almal.kan dot doen. Ek weet nou nog nie wat die regte besluit was nie maar ek is nog in een stuk so die rustig swem het seker gewerk. Ek dink nie die white was daar vir my nie. Hy wou my vis eet.
