SCARY CRAZY AND AMAZING MUSSEL CRACKER SPEARFISHING at MOSSELBAY POINT

  • This was definitely one of the scariest dives I have done. With a shore entry it is always tricky and you never know what will happen but luckily we made it through the surf and of we went.
    Spearfishing 500m offshore with a shore dive is never a good idea, but losing your diving buddy and your ride back to shore is even worse. Luckily I managed to find Pottie between the swells and this time I was not letting him out of sight again.
    After Pottie landed 2 stunning mussel crackers I tried my very best but could only find one that quickly turned away from me. I did manage to shoot a couple of bonnies but the sharks took one half so I ended up with only one.

    Geez looweez bros That is so sketch!!! Beautiful shots and breath holds. Potty is an example of just how hard core and fearless south africans are...I was on the edge of my seat in these conditions. You guys have special forces mentality...F*K Voort no matter what the conditions. Thanks for the great content gents.

    Nice you're willing to admit you get a bit scared when totally disoriented at an entry or when your buddy disappears. So do I.
    But damn it bugs me when a dive partner goes on their own mission on a shore dive. Happened to me so many times.
    Or you're on a fish for a couple minutes, bringing it in, stringing it and then resetting your gear just to look up to see your mates 300m down the coast.

      @Bloudam  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I hate it when it happens that you dive buddy is gone after you shot a fish. Is he still a dive buddy then or do you downgrade to a dive friend

    Mussel cracker!!! What an amazing beast of a fish, look similar to the snapper here in NZ but much larger, am I stupid for assuming it name orgins from cracking mussels?

      Not stupid at all. That is where the name comes from. The kost difficult fish in our waters to spear

    Thanks for the vid bud, come dive on the bluff in kzn on a windy day and you'll know a rough entry XP
    I've learnt how important it is knowing where your dive partner is at all times, anything can happen and even though he is a seasoned Spero anything can happen. So that's why I stick to the "one up, one down" rule. this allows me to keep an eye on the safety of my buddy and gives me a good rest time.
    Stay safe.

    Hey spearo from the U.K here. Just found your channel and enjoyed this video so much. Its always great to see other spearos from around the world showing there diving spots and species of fish they hunt. scary entry point but amazing to see none the less. Am i right in saying there is many sharks in this area you dive and if so how dangerous can it be to spearfish in an area with many sharks ?

      @Bloudam - Fishing South Africa the helium balloon will float about 2m above the dive float and then it's so much easier to find eachother, especially in swell.
