  • Comprehensive review of the Redcat Volcano EPX. A great entry level truck at a great price point. Loads of upgrades available.
    For Volcano EPX Pro review, look at our next but one video where we compare the two trucks.

    Thanks for the video. My son and I experienced the l/f lower steering knuckle screw(stripping/falling out) issue on our very first run, actually... Though I was able to fix it temporarily, I realized that I should upgrade to the aluminium steering knuckles AND bearings - as the brushless model only comes equipped with bushings in the important 4 wheel hubs

    This video should have a lot more views. Great introduction to the car and it's features. I just got mine. Does anyone experience clicking when under load? Maybe it's the bearings and works as designed?

      Thanks. Clicking under drive load or steering load ?

    • @s4bersun
      @s4bersun 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ThirdCoastRC Hello. It is under drive load. It seems to be the drivetrain shafts?

    • @ThirdCoastRC
      @ThirdCoastRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@s4bersun It should not click, but just do a good visual inspection that you cannot see anything loose, and then go drive it. See how it goes. On occasions the drive cups that come out of the differentials can loose a retaining grub screw leaving you with only front or rear wheel drive only, check that. See how it goes.

    Still trying to decide between traxxas & red cat
    Can the suspension be altered on this truck for ground clearance

    • @ThirdCoastRC
      @ThirdCoastRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The suspension can be altered but not enough to make it into a Rock Crawler. We'd recommend that you take a look at the Redcat Everest 10 for a full articulation rock crawler, or the new Redcat Gen8 Scout V2. Both good choices at a competetive price. There are a lot of other option out there too from other manufacurers such as Traxxas and Axial plus others. Always consider going with the brand that you can find parts locally for.

    Excellent video though I think the brushed arrma granite is a better choice. More durable and easier to work on.

    • @ThirdCoastRC
      @ThirdCoastRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I see your point. I think a lot depends on parts availability in your area. Here in Houston we stock all the parts for Volcano so they are available locally. The $100 Arrma Granite is also 2WD only, the Volcano EPX is 4WD, but for true beginners that may not matter. With the Volcano EPX you can drop a brushed power system into it for another ~$90 and make it effectively an EPX Pro (there are a few other minor differencs). Doing that with an Arrma 2WD would IMHO over power the rear, and it wouldn't drive as well. Always check parts availability in your area, that should be the No.1 driver when choosing an RC vehicle. Ordering online and waiting a week or more for things to come due to Covid slow down is not very satifying. Thanks again for the replies, keep them coming and consider subscribing.

    • @justinl9677
      @justinl9677 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought am arrma granite 2nd GEN 4x4 BLX brand new and spend more time working on it than I do running it...but thats only because when I go, I go hard af. I recently bought a used brushed volcano for 50 bucks and have only taken it out on the street one time. So far I love it, even if my granite can leave it in its dust...just because my granite can do 60mph doesn't mean I should! 🤣🤣

      @@ThirdCoastRC thank you! I've been doing a lot of research and have came across trucks like the Haiboxing, Xinlehong, Legendary, Arrma... Among many others. I am also new to the hobby and don't want to go with some brand that difficult to find parts or fix.

      @justinl9677 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most rc trucks, even 4wd suck in snow deeper than a couple inches because the wheelspin just digs out the snow, causing it to just belly down, high centering it as soon as you touch the throttle, unless its hard packed

      Thanks for your comments. Occasionally you can lose a screw. You can buy the complete screw set for this truck for $30 and never run out of them. Always good to have a few spare. The EPX Pro is a great entry level brushless truck if you want to come into the hobby at the next level. We will do a similar comprehensive review of that truck in the next few days. These maybe models that have been in production for a while, but if its not broke then don't fix it.

    I have this truck in EPX pro and a Tornado. I love them both. Redcat needs to step up their replacement parts game! I ordered some xtra front bumpers from 2 separate vendors and received an "Updated" version that DOES NOT fit the Volcano. Very disappointed. Other than that it's a great product!

    • @ThirdCoastRC
