This is the most popular Rc in Malaysia, but in HSP brand, it's identical, only different body shell, and the drive shaft issue is the no 1 issue in this model, but the metal universal drive shaft only cost 3.6$ here, I used it on my HSP buggy (Redcat Tornado) on 4s and still runs perfectly to this day, what a beast, btw love the video man🔥🙌😁

Redcat is the Fiat of rc cars. Every Redcat I've had has been a P.O.S. I just bought a Wendigo a few weeks ago. Broke two driveshaft, steering link and transmission. It has about 15 minutes of run time on it. I'll never buy another Redcat.
Sorry to hear that. I dont work for them but Ill say this, I got 4 of their cars and another on the way, I have less issues with them then some of my Arrmas and my Axial. Different experiences for everybody

The platform is still a good bargain, and a nice-looking ripper two years later. Although outside of the issue with the axles popping out, I believe the platform would really benefit from a center diff. I especially since it doesn't have a wheelie bar. If I had to choose between the wheelie bar or center diff, give me the center diff.
Awesome truck! If you like small bashers try the fms fmt 24 colorado they are awesome bashed it to death and can't break it. 150 bucks and worth every penny!!
That's a lot of power for that small of a wheel base. Takes a minute to get adjusted like that. Edit: I run traxxas but I use that radio system and tires from my friends earthquake and just bought volcano tires lol. They make decent hobbygrade stuff imo and I want a Kaiju.

I've got a Redcat Gen8V2 crawler and I love it. I've been tempted to buy something else from them and that looks Sweet!! But the driveshaft failures are disappointing, however fixing issues is part of what I love about this hobby. Great vid and damn good driving keeping it off the curbs.👍
I agree. I have some hobbypark driveshafts and some upgrades I just put in that Im gonna try out and see if it fixed the issue. But that is the fun part of this for me too! Thanks for watching!

I havent done the full aluminum kit just the steering hubs and things like that but so far its great

It has for me.
Its a Hobbywing 60a. It should hold up. I've run 3s for about 10 batteries so far. No issues except DogBones popping out LOL
I still run my volcano exp pro that redact originally came out with years ago. All aluminum and stock electronics still on it. Running jato wheels for street runs.

Yeah I have replaced my dog bones and the cups quite a few times.

Same dawg, I had a brushed one when I was younger and now I am just an Rc addict.
Body aside, it's the same piece of junk it was 10 years ago. And it was a HSP Chinese clone back then. If you run it on 3s it will self destruct before your very eyes. The Blackout was home grown and is a much more durable truck. The TRMT10E makes it a laughing stock. And the Volcano is NOT not cheap, I just saw it at Amazon with cheap Zee batteries and a Redcat charger for over 300 dollars. I'll take a Hosim X07 any day for 199. Sorry to rain on your parade.
Lol rain on my parade. On an almost 3 year old video? Shocked people still watch it! Lol! Hey, your opinion is your opinion and your experiences are yours. I for one had minimal problems with this after some upgrades while a few people I know had a ton of issues with the TRMT10E. And maybe now it isn't a great option for the price, especially with the Valkyrie out, but this was almost 3 years ago.
@@therchotspot TH-cam knows no age and it just appeared on my feed is all and I couldn't let it pass because they still sell them and still lie all about them. Actually the TRMT10E was one of the best bashers ever made at the time under the Team Redcat name, but has since been discontinued. I don't run mine anymore because they also discontinued parts support. Most of the negative came from kids who literally tried to destroy them. And if you set out to do that, you will with any car I'm sure you know that. Breaking their servo horn in half was the only real problem they had. The Hosim is a much better built car for half the price on sale. And they want 300 dollars for the Valkyrie without batteries. NO THANKS.
@dannysdailys like I said, everybody has there own experiences. My experiences come from people I know personally who had and didn't go well for them not kids. The TRMT10E also came without a battery for about the same price as the Valkyrie. I'm glad you like the Hosim though. They seem well built! Enjoy rc'ing!👍🏾
@@therchotspot Oh, I know. I never said 10E was cheap. But Redcat used to send out the Volcano with a battery. It doesn't matter, you couldn't GIVE me a Redcat today.
Sorry you feel that way. My feelings on my Valkyrie are seemingly the much the same as yours for the MT10e. It's a tough rc. Haven't broken it yet. Had issues with the esc, but it takes a good bashing!
I have the volcano epx pro and like it, but the wheel shafts keep bending and/or breaking. Any sugestions???

Never had a diff issues or gear issues. Its a good truck for light bashing around. I wouldnt go to crazy with it. So I would sayget it depending on what you are tryibg to do with it

drop the top link down on the a arm its in the wrong hole did it on mine works fine it was put together wrong from factory
What 3s battery were you using?
Spektrum smart battery 5000 mah 50c. You can see it at 5:28 of the video
I have this but mine came with the upgrade titanium parts like that knuckle that the rod popped out on you. Plastic just doesn't work well but if you do wreck it enough then the screws can be stripped and you would then have to replace the whole knuckle. I have learned the basics so far so in most cases I have fixed it myself😂 but the parts depending can be pricey. I simply love this RC😁👍
Not just that you can upgrade. Lots of stuff out there not expensive either

Hsp is the oem for redcat. Only recently has redcat made any original rc design.

I appreciate the testing and review of the truck. I think my greyhounds would like chasing this truck on the open field....Yahoo. The driveshaft issue isn't cool though.
I haven't had too many issues since.
I feel like redcat as a company is the new and improved duratrax.
Belted tires brother, or wrap them in high test fishing line, balloon tires and high speed don't mix, dog bones (axels) need replaced, when u bottom out it compresses dog bone tight then when loose they are allowed to pop out, it is a carry over from original design
I like to do speed runs the way they come out the box if I can. That's why I didn't change the tires first. But I did do a few other videos with this rc. A lot changed since this video

That’s a bummer that they have that problem with the axles that’s all I’ve ever read about these trucks is the axles literally blow out constantly. And the first thing I see your video is having problems with the axl

I also have a red cat volcano first gen it's all aluminum running a 3800kc Castle creations copperhead sensored.
As the previous gentleman stated the aluminum parts definitely help keep the truck planted to the ground.
I run 3S to 4S I send it in a straight line every time 😊

I enjoyed the run and honesty! Thinking about ordering one, but wish it had a slightly longer wheelbase like the arrma big rock. Waffling between the 2. $100 cheaper but is the big rock worth the difference?
Honestly depends on the how you plan on running it. If you like bashing of ramps, get the big rock. If you are more of a light jump, dirt running or parking lot bashing, the Volcano is perfectly fine for that

To help with high speed control you might want to try a cheap gyro. $15-$60 online.

What 3s battery did you use how many mah and output 50c ?

The blackout pro is still good. If I remember it comes witha battery and charger with is great for beginners cause most of these dont come with that. This Volcano didnt come with that either. But, it is a lot of fun!
That thing scoots even on 2s.. Aluminum chassis would probably help keep it on it's feet. Maybe a hinge pin kit to tighten up the front, Hobby park makes decent parts on Amazon. Good stuff, Im subbed 👍

I guess it depends on what kind of bashing you trying to do. Skatepark, huge jumps, 20 30 ft sends, nah. Id get the Rival MT10 for that. Small backyard ramp jumps, parking lot bashing, its good for that. But the first thing Id upgrade would be the driveshafts! Problem is finding good ones.

There should be links to the batteries I used in the video description. But this car uses a deans connector or a t style connector out the box
It was a ec5 to deans connector I got off ebay

For the time being I just bent it back, but I do have new ones from hobbypark and so other upgrades to put on it

Exactly the same issue with the 1st Volcano. Same crappy design, can't believe they didn't fix the issues before putting it back out.
frustrated because of all the problems .....ROFL of course the problems couldn't have anything to do with it slamming into the ground and cart wheeling end over end after you jumped it 40 feet....

Dude the driveshafts popped out because you crashed going like 100 what the heck
Part of that is true, as I believe I mentioned at the end mybdriving wasnt the best. Part of it is the way it was setup from the factory. A quick adjustment of the turnbuckle mand moving it over to a different hole would've helped
