Redcat knocked it out of the park. Luv the old school looks & the way it sits. Make a good Stunt type MT even with the long WBase. Goes well on 6s... 💪 👊 I bet there's room to gear it up taller too! TY for sharing guys 🙏
Boy, this MT definitely has the look. The retro body and extremely aggressive looking tires do it for me. Assuming this truck proves to be tough (kinda looks like that already.😉) I think the pricing will have this MT from Redcat Racing eating into the sales of the bigger competitors. Nice pick Abby!
I have gotten mine up to 68 miles an hour. There's a bunch of settings that you can get into on the esc that make it a little easier to get full throttle far is taking the punch down and then just gunning it
The Kaiju is nice but it needs upgrades like a metal spur gear from losi that the RC community has figured out how to use on the Kaiju. I kept stripping the stock plastic spur gear on 4s and 6s.
Wow.. Love this one. I think 400 is a very fair price too. It's got the size and speed of the $700+ trucks. Would love. To see a bashing video from you guys on trucks like this. Speed is great but backflip it. 😉
I really appreciate your videos and that nice blue Monster truck and you’re gonna speed it at the bus parking lot. And which controller do you use to make it go speed?
Havent had very good luck with redcat.got volcano brushless monster truck and right out the box the steering arm hit servo when going forward..dodnt realize it right away now it cost 100 bucks in repair.
I love the look of this truck BUT considering Dean's connectors are only rated for a Max 60 amps why on earth do they come factory in this truck alongside 150 amp speed controller???
Great question (and observation)! 👍 The manual depicts an ESC with two sets of leads (parallel). Given the 60A continuous/75A peak rating for Deans Ultra, that would allow a theoretical combined 120A/150A draw. I think the manual said 150A/950A for the ESC, so that leaves a comfortable safety margin. However, the product photos show a serial “Y” lead instead of parallel leads. Unless I’m having a brain fart, that configuration puts the entire load through each connector, functioning as a single lead. Therefore, the total load would be capped at 60A/75A, making the 150A ESC overkill. One would have to replace the connectors with higher-rated alternatives or, better yet, convert the leads to dual (parallel) leads to make use of the available headroom. My guess is that the vehicle can’t make effective use (under control, no imminent stress failure) of more than the 60A continuous allowed by the serial “Y” lead, so that configuration does the job and makes the design more flexible by allowing the user to install a pair of 2S or 3S batteries for 4S or 6S power, respectively. With parallel leads, either 4S/6S batteries or separate serial “Y” jumpers (and probably stacked batteries) are needed. If that is the case, the 150A ESC either offered the most attractive cost/benefit ratio or simply made for some really snazzy marketing fluff.
@@chadpollman7970 I'm no electrician it's just from the video something I noticed. I know I've read quite a few times deans get hot easily if you're using more than 3S. These have just been user comments on Facebook. And in real life situations I'm sure amp loads don't peek out for a very long because it's not like you drive around at full throttle especially on such a high-powered RC. Great reply thanks. I've only hooked up car stereos and what not but it looks to me also like most of the power goes through one side and then piggybacks off the other for a short distance.
Running 5s in the kaiju is absolutely perfect. Also tape the holes inside the wheels and vent the tires in at least 4 places for way less ballooning. And as I stated this truck loves 5s lipo power. It's the perfect voltage.
No, make her fly inverted before she gets to thrash that thing out! I wanna see Abby fly upside down! Btw, that girl is trippin' in this vid. lol. Daaang :)
I love my kaiju and it is a tough ridiculous fast on 6s and more difficult to reach top speed on success because of the insane amount of power it will wheel stand from half throttle nearly to three-quarter throttle on 6s and hold it that way until you let go
That truck is a beast on 6s! 4s is plenty for that kind of vehicle. If it was an on road vehicle (Limitless or Infraction) then 6s would be a hoot. I run my Limitless on 6s and it’s fun and kind of scary because it’s geared to go fast. Thank you for the speed run review
Dont knock that dust cover, my arrma big rock didnt have it, and rocks get into it all the time, have had them bind up the steering, and one even lodged in and started grinding against the driveshaft. had to buy one aftermarket to prevent that.
There you go! REDCAT BABY! LOL. great video have fun, it does look like the arrma outcast. If I ever learn how to hit the ramps properly. I will have a lot more fun.
SWEET truck!! WHEELIE MANIA? I think your last one was in 2015!! Hint: watch your 2017 Arrma OUTCAST unboxing video! Do another one!! Thanks Saylors for the AWESOME SPEED TEST!! 💟👍😘
if you're looking for replacement tires for this or other vehicles including 1/10 scale, duratrax stakker tires have nearly identical pattern and are pretty amazing in the looser dirt. All I have to compare with are the caldera 10e stock tires, but the stakkers transformed the truck more than going from NiMh to 3s lipo did.
put stiffer oil in the rear shocks. Set the ride height slightly higher in the rear than the front after that. You want to slow the rear compression. Between the body catching air and the suspension not setup, this is happening.
do you think I should get the wltoys a959b or the wltoys 14400? I am on the fence for both. but also want to know what your favorite 1/16 scale or 1/14 scale is?
Get a Hobbywing program card and reset the punch, I have mine set at 3... They come set really high, that's why you have to start slowly with the trigger to much punch setting
I’m glad you said that I don’t own one yet but that’s exactly what I have been thinking adjust the punch setting & maybe adding some belted tires for on road speed runs .
Nate your a lucky man!!! Because not everybody's wife is so excited about rc cars. More the opposite I think? Great video been thinking bout getting the kaiju.
Kinda looks like a '80s Ranger, although straight on the grill looks different. Them scrapes on the roof does add some wear that goes along with the age looking of this truck.
What would happen if you took some slightly smaller tires from a different car/truck and put them on the front so the car slopes forward, maybe help with with the front lifting
Definitely not a good idea on a four-wheel drive . It would put excessive strain on the motor and drivetrain because the wheels would be fighting each other spinning at different speeds. Tires should be the same size at all four corners.
@@blindj I thought that was why they had a center diff, so you could get slip between the front and back. Though I suppose i'm asking for continuous slip hmm, maybe heat issue, yup ill take your word for it, was just an idea as I was frustrated at NOT seeing it max out its speed lol oh yeah and i did do this on a savage nitro, but to be fair I destroyed it doing stupid stuff long before any potential diff issues would of emerged :) thank you for your reply tho, ill avoid it in the future, even tho it looked very very cool
@@grim4this You are correct about differentials and how they operate except this will put excessive wear on that differential. Especially with a 6S truck the small diff gears would spin so fast It would heat up probably to the point that the diff case would probably start to melt within a short amount of time. Different story if it was only rear wheel drive it wouldn't be a big deal. Best option for this truck would be changing the wheelie bar or lowering the overall height of the vehicle this way not as much air can get underneath it. Or like mentioned maybe a little bit of front weight.
Move the wheelie bar to the lowest position and the shock to the outer most position for better stability. I love mine and since I have done that it handle so much better!!!
TheRcSaylors I love the truck I believe people are sleeping on it in the stunt truck world especially now that traxxas released that Haas I believe people are not paying attention to this truck!
Nope. Plastic composite. But if you set the mesh good it holds up for a few months then you'll probably want a metal spur. Although the ol timers say leave the plastic spur, it's there as a type of fuse component so other things don't break first. Plus plastic spur is like 6 bucks. I say if you like to wrench and bash, stay with plastic composite and set that mesh and you'll go through $6 spur gears every few months instead of replacing broken and worn drive lines, axles and cups. My opinion. Only thing that rig needs out of the box is aluminum Servo arm and higher torque servo like 35kg. I had mine and beat the heck out of it. Only issues was a stripped servo arm and the servo never would center really and was a bit weak for the big tires. Upgraded to 35 kg and she's still going on that same spur different owner 3 months later. Moral of the story. Always check the gear mesh. Love the rig though. I will buy one again someday. I call it poor man's xmaxx lol btw don't try 6s speed runs without belted tires.
If its wired in series you COULD but I wouldn't recommend it. You're gonna have weird issues crop up with the balance and possibly melt a battery. If its parallel wired definitely don't try it. If youre gonna run combinations of packs stick to the same number of cells and voltage for safety.
I'm glad I found your channel. I just got a 100$ 4X4 1:16 scale and its pretty insane I was super impressed with it want to get 1 like this now lol. Hey you might try putting bigger wheelie bars on the back to achieve full speed 😁✌

It's poor mans xmaxx. For the price it is so worth it. Just put an aluminum Servo arm and 35 kg servo and your good to go. I've owned both and my maxx was down more than the Kaiju unfortunately. Mostly just because of the cost of parts from traxxas is so high it's friggin devastating when you break something lol my opinion. Hope it helps
