- Speed test running on 3S on my Redcat Volcano EPX. Also installed an new Zoskay 25kg servo since the stock Hexfly servo that comes on this is very weak. Also replaced the stock plastic steering knuckles and hub carriers to aluminum after messing one up hitting a curb. Links to everything used in this video below:

I've owned mine for 2 yrs no issues with 3s but I'm kinda gentle when it comes to abusive driving.
so no big air for you either I take it. I try to keep my pro on all 4s as much as I can but its crazy fast and torquey. Well crazy fast for me at 52 and just getting into real rc vehicles.
I got one that’s fully aluminum except a few things lol wheel hubs and steering brackets and front and back bumper with battery mount they are the only plastic
Sounds like you did a lot of upgrades to it.
great truck! although I think that as long as the mechanics (differential, pinion, gears) are durable enough to withstand 2s or 3s without killing the differentials in the first few races, it will be a good investment!

These trucks need alot of upgrades to be reliable long term. Dog bones bend and fall out, plastic wheel hexes melt or wear out. Servo saver constantly loosens up, wheels crack easily. Pinions and spurs wear out quickly.
I've had the dogbones fall out when I turn. Very annoying. This is definitely not one to handle a good bashing with stock parts. A little sidewalk jumper but thats about it.
3s will only be good for momentary speed runs.
I know this video is older, but if you happen to see this? I have a Volcano EPX Pro, and it would go 34mph on 2S Lipo out of the box. I put a 3S Lipo battery with Graphene 100C discharge and it does wheelies. Harder to control at this speed, but it will go 56mph on the 3S battery!! It's pretty impressive for a stock truck. Mine also came with a 60amp ESC instead of the 40amp.
That’s pretty impressive. I plan to do a brushless swap on this so I can try and reach those speeds too.
time to go brushless 3300kv or 3800 kv and a new esc. basically make it an epx pro and you can run speeds at or above that one 2s and it will spend its time on the back bumper.
That’s the plan with this one. It’s been on the shelf for awhile and time to change things up. I’m finishing a few other projects ahead of this one but soon it will be on the bench.

i did the same to my redcat volcano EPX and have the same Lipo 3s Battery upgrade my motor and ESC but its the same as the Redcat volcano epx pro has its the brushless motor and the brushless ESC,and with that battery my truck does Wheelie's and can do 42 mile an hour
I plan on going brushless soon. It’s kind of fast now but it’s always never fast enough.

I still run my volcano from time to time. 3s stock I got my truck to 54mph but only had 300’ of parking lot.

I have had 2 volcano’s for a little over 5 years. I have modified the teeth out of one of them. I keep crashing it because I put a motor that’s like 4 times as strong as the original one and put a 5,000 MaH battery. Crazy shenanigans.
I plan on putting a brushless motor in this eventually. They’re not terrible trucks for the price. I haven’t had any problems with mine and I run it on 3S with stock electronics a lot.
@@ReadytoRunRC I actually just got a LiPO for it. With the 4300 Kv motors and modded for RWD it’s insane, but I smashed straight into a rock at full throttle, destroyed the front piece of the chassis, cracked the transfer case, and ripped up the plastic body. Way too much power, I love it 😂😂
ok so now we're both running the same battery, servo in our 1/10 monster trucks lol. Hope you've been enjoying that 3s. the 25k zoskay arrives today, the Reedy servo in my Rival was only rated at 15kg and underpowered imo and i tore off some teeth on a gear inside, replacement from team associated? $32 before shipping/tax.. got this 25kg for $21. also it did claim much faster turn times than the reedy, so i'm pretty excited! Great video as always, thanks for all the time you put into this hobby for us!
Well that’s pretty cool we are running the same setup so far. The zoskay 25kg servo isn’t real fast but it does have some torque. It’s a world of difference compared to stock. The truck is now a blast to run with that and the 3s.
Nice upgrades and battery looks good as well... 3s always makes things all better. You should put metal shocks.

Those were wild raspberries. They’re fine. I eat them all the time. That one I ate was still a little tart. Wasn’t quite ripe enough.

I bought the same 3s battery but mines is 50c and not 60c does that make a difference or should i return it? Im new to the rc car hobby so trying to learn as much as i can
It might make a small difference. I wouldn’t return it unless you really wanted a 60C. The C rating for a LiPo battery refers to the capacity of energy the battery can safely discharge, represented as a multiple of its overall capacity. A battery that has a higher C rating delivers more energy, and that means higher performance.

Hello! I know this is an old video but how did the aluminum c-hub upgrade go? I can't seem to find a set that isn't wobbly, it seems like most upgrades for this rc does not have good fitting...
They aren’t too wobbly. Have a nice fit. I didn’t have any real issues with mine and I have ran quite a few batteries through.

I unfortunately got mine from the same vendors at aliexpress (here from where I live we have our own version of amazon in the form of shopee and lazada and some vendors there got their supplies from aliexpress) I actually tried ordering 2 of the same sets all of them wobbly unfortunately so I was thinking maybe I was getting the bad kind of upgrades

How has this held up with a 3s don't wanna burn a new truck up but would like to go lipo.
I can’t answer that for long term use. I ran it a few times and it was fine but I haven’t had a chance to get it out lately. Been busy with other content.

So after using the 2s/3s on it there no issue with the motor or anything else when using for a while? I just bought one for my son and I’m checking on some upgrade and what everyone thinks about the upgrade…
I haven’t had any issues but I didn’t run too many batteries through it yet. I’m sure eventually the 3S will burn it out. I’m planning on putting a brushless hobby wing 4000kv with max10 esc eventually.

Nice upgrades for that truck. I have a couple of those servos, they seem real strong, but not super quick. They are great for the price, I would recommend them
Yeah that’s what I noticed too about this servo. It’s not the fastest but I did notice the torque. They are a good buy for only $20.
The motor you are running is it a 540 or 550 motor?
