    I’ve got the pro version and you are right with how it’s hard to drive them but if you give the front tires some toe-in it really helps keeping it holding a line but it would be advisable to do the upgrades to the suspension as well as the control arms and anywhere else that you can.

    • @ThirdCoastRC
      @ThirdCoastRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for commenting. The pro version of the SC is a handful. Toe in definately helps stabilize and centralize the acceleration and high speed straight line stability. On the brushed version its all much tamer and in a way perhaps more fun to drive. The Blackout pro truck is OK. The Blackout pro buggy xbe is another bit of a handful. We'll bring more vids of those in the near future. Andrew, ThirdCoastRC

    Hello ! Thanks for the input! I believe that today this is the best 4wd brushed truck (quality / price) because the arrma have already raised their prices, kyosho is never in stock, traxxas is in parts and 4wd cars for very high prices! I currently have a kyosho axxe (sandmaster) I have not used it yet but from reviews on youtube, you can see that the car will not support more than 20 mph because the crown is made of plastic ... we can place a brushless system but we will end with the differential and crown in a few plays .... and this redcat is above 20 mph and it is seen that its crown and differential will hold that speed for a long time ... greetings! and the parts are easy to get, cheaper (kyosho currently has the few parts out of stock!)

    • @ThirdCoastRC
      @ThirdCoastRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comments. The brushed version of this truck is very good for the price. Great starter car. You can also look at the Imex VRX Samurai with a full roll cage, either brushless or brushed. That is a great short course truck as well. It's a little more expensive but very good. See one of our more recent reviews on You Tube.

  • @Cnoe4x4
    @Cnoe4x4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can put slightly larger short course duratrax C2 tires on them and trim the front of the body with some scissors and you are good to go and get amazing traction.

      I would try and find a bearing kit , if it has standard servos it’s like $15 each for Amazon servos if it’s controller is dead you can get a good controller from flysky with a lcd display for like $40 and then you need a Motor , esc , and lipo you can get a brushed motor for $30~ esc for $40 ~ and then you still need the gears and broken parts if you can find them

    • @ThirdCoastRC

      Not problem upgrading to a brushless motor. It's also available as a brushless version. The brushless version is a handful and over powers the chassis. I honestly prefer it in the brushed setup.

    • @ThirdCoastRC
      @ThirdCoastRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi There, this is a slightly smaller footprint vehicle than say a Traxxas Slash, but there are other Short Course trucks and other style bodies that can be adapted to fit, you just have to get one with the correct / near dimensions and wheel base. Thanks. Andrew, Third Coast RC

    Is the motor waterproof? I want to run this truck in the snow. I understand that I will have to waterproof the receiver.

    • @ThirdCoastRC
      @ThirdCoastRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The trucks are splashproof. You should be good in the snow. Brushed motors will run under water, so no worries there. That's how we used to break them in back in the day. On the blackout try and water prooof the receiver and the ESC a bit if you can. Small zip lock bags work well for this. If you run in the wet then spray the bearings and drivetrain parts with WD40 when your done. Then bring the truck inside to dry as soon as possible.

    It is now February 2024. I just dropped Red Cat racing because they stop putting parts sheet and break down sheets of their trucks in the boxes. That is just stupid ,you have to have those sheets so you can order a part when you break them out.

      Not too many, you may want to grab a set of the aluminum threaded shocks, BLH-0011GM. Some front lower arms, BS213-007 (or the aluminum version, BLH-0002GM). Andrew, Third Coast RC

      @@ThirdCoastRC thanks! I'm really new to this stuff, getting my kid into with me. Is there a vid that explains the differences in batteries and what would be an "upgraded" battery and why one would want it?

    • @ThirdCoastRC
      @ThirdCoastRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@oldmanrenz6882 In this truck, the first upgraded battery would be one with more capacity. Same NiMH chemistry, but more mAh. Like a 5000mah. That will give you slightly more punch and a longer runtime. The next upgraded battery would be the same chemistry but more volts, through one extra cell. A an 8 cell NiMH at 8.4v instead of 7.2v. This would give you more speed. But you may need to fabricate a better way to hold it in as it has an extra cell on top, it's called a hump pack. The stock battery bar would not hold it in the car. Velcro straps. After that you would move to Lipo, which will give more speed too, but needs a different charger that can charge lipo batteries. If you want to know more about that, then let me know. Andrew. Third Coast RC

Almost every video I see talks about different batteries and I'm just trying to sponge up the info! So you would recommend the 5000maH 7.2 and like, a quick charger?

    • @ThirdCoastRC
      @ThirdCoastRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@oldmanrenz6882 The stock battery is an NiMH 7.2v I think 3000mah. It will take 3hrs to charge with the supplied wall charger. A better charger would be a good option, especially if your thinking of expanding into the hobby more. Get a good multichemistry charger. Get it from your local hobby shop if you can. But otherwise you can get battery and charger here from our store.

      Many manufacturers are having difficulty re-stocking after the holidays on sold out starter trucks. It is problems with the factories due to Covid restrictions in China, slow downs in shipping and getting them through customs here in the US. We are seeing the end of month as date for these to become available again.
