That’s because engines all run the same. Compression, spark and fuel. That alone can take you far. Also he does research before he checks out the car…don’t forget these are produced, edited videos. You don’t see the times he pauses to watch TH-cam to figure something out. Every mechanic I know comes across stuff they never worked on before and they all do research. You just need to have the basic understanding of internal combustion engines and a good can do attitude and you can do exactly what Chris is doing.

For folks like me that remember when all dry cleaners ran pick-up and delivery routes these panel trucks probably bring back memories. When I was young in the mid-sixties even though our town was small (about 12,000 folks) the main three dry cleaners all ran these panel trucks

Rarely comment but the concrete block under the tire, glad it held. The compressive strength is sitting upright. Lucky the one you use obviously had a high psi rating. Please don’t lay another on its side you might not be so fortunate. 👍🏻

I have to say that your videos are never dull. Back in my late teens I had a chance to get a panel truck (mid 60's, extra long body GMC) but I really didn't have the know how to get it running. Watching you work on this one takes me back to an easier time and I thank you for that. I enjoy the stuff you put out--keep up the good work.

I absolutely love those old Chevy Panel trucks, I'd love to have one myself. Props to you for standing out there in that weather just to hear the motor run again. Every shade tree mechanic knows exactly what it's like to stand out there so long that you can't even feel the nuts and bolts on the truck anymore because your fingers went numb about an hour ago! Let's see part II please.

The engine suffix code of "CMJ" comes back as a mid 70's 350CI, The "K" is for St Catherines, Ontario, Canada engine plant. The "05 07" (May 7th), engine assembly day-month code

This is definitely one of my new favorite channels on TH-cam for sure.I really dig how they show you everything and in such a laid back, unassuming way.I hope that they keep on making way more videos and I sincerely hope they both get rich doing it.Godspeed to them 😁

Nice to hear you talking about points and dwell. Most young people don't have a clue. My dad bought a '65 Carryall in 1970 and we went everywhere in that thing.
On another note, I was at the Barrett-Jackson and saw a convertible '68 Belvedere that had no top, missing all knobs on the dash, tail lights missing, body in round shape, sell for $67,000. That Chevy might be worth something. Let's see you do some more work to it. Get it on the road.

Doesn't make sense to waste oil or other new fluids on something that's going to need major work anyway. This panel has potential for somebody doing a resto mod and spending a ton of money.

If your gonna use a concrete block bud, put it in with the webs facing up. You’d be surprised how little lateral force it takes for that to look like dominoes. Old blocks are way better but it could still have a flaw in it.

just a few years ago I resurrected a 64 Chevy Corvair van and while sanding down the paint I discovered some lettering that was hand painted by the original owner. Couldn't quite make out the name but it was clearly "plumbing and electric" as part of the sign. It also said Winston - Salem NC, which confirms the place of origin.

Multiple holes in the side are drill holes for a slide hammer dent puller that you screw in instead of welding. Old school way of removing a dent then bondoing the holes to cover them up. This type of body work came with a 30/30 warranty after the vehicle left the car lot. 30 seconds or 30 feet warranty ends.

I've got a 64 C10 custom wagon panel that I will be resurrecting from a also 20 year Slumber as soon as the weather gets a little warmer this year

Incredible, my exact word when you put the double jump/amps on it and it turned over,"I'll be go to hell" from my junkyard days in Mpls Mn 1974'-5. Then pulling the washer tank and filling it with gas and getting the mfker running absolute genius.

You need to get yourself a videographer to free up both hands to do the good work that you do. Mad love from Papua New Guinea ❤❤

Great fun watching everything you come up with. I’m amazed every time you get something to come alive in like under an hour, which is because you know so much. You and Vice Grip Garage. Best Regards

Rare panel that is worth restoring is worth a lot more than $1200. These old vehicles are always worth saving.

Pretty cool , like you I was never enamored with those panel wagons, but they are getting cooler to me by the day. Hey its your chnl, I enjoy the content and the way you go about things everyone seems to be an expert at commenting I wonder how many guys are really doing this kind of stuff. I seem to be lucky enough to do 2 or 3 a year. Its just kinda cool. Nowadays everyone thinks anything pre 1987 is worth gold...

if you have ever driven one of those panel trucks then you will know they don't handle for shit, even though they look cool.
