If the average weight of each car is 3500 lbs, times 600 cars at $250 per ton that is $225,000. That doesn't include the labor and equipment time of removing and hauling. Assuming you can get 9 cars on each flat bed of a tractor trailer load, that is 66 trips. As dense as that area it would be tough to move more than one load a day. That is 14 weeks of hauling and loading or 2800 hours of labor at a low of $25 per hour, which I don't think is even possible, that is $28,000 for two people working 40 hours a week. I'm guessing the labor would be double or even triple that amount but I will stick with that number for now. That is a total of $197,000 profit, not including the cost of equipment time (tractor/skid steer/etc and a truck and trailer). So if someone is willing to pay $400K for that, unless they know how to maximize the return on those cars besides just hauling them straight to the scrap yard, they are smarter than me or that guy is seeing value where there is none. Chris, I hope you can do a follow up video to let us know how this all goes.

you went into more detail then me when figuring the cars. My way was to take the $400,000 and divided it by 600 cars and figure they will be paying $666.66 for each car plus the labor, equipment and whatever expenses so it was a fast no for me.

The mother in law now won't part with them as they are memories of his projects that she is going to leave to her son and my son. Her son can't keep up with repairs to his own vehicles and buys a different vehicle rather than repair them. He has added range rover classic (3 door) p38 and 3 110 defenders and a series 2 pick up with a recovery spec lift in the back. All now sitting in the Scottish Highlands rotting away. In the ancient woods, Gary walks,
A man of few and silent thoughts.
Through shadowed paths, he treads alone,
In search of earth to call his own.
Behind him, a voice, a ceaseless tide,
Whispers of worlds, of time and tide.
Yet Gary, weary, longs for peace,
A final breath, a sweet release.
The chatter winds, a haunting song,
Each word a step where he belongs.
To that quiet place, where silence reigns,
And whispers fade, as life’s refrain.

All the locals reading should write the City of Philadelphia about helping Chris & Jen buy this property.
I bet Chris & family would clean the place up nice, build a Car themed Amusement Park/ RV Campgrounds/ Affordable housing/ transition housing for people overcoming homelessness, alcohol & drug dependency through learning professional trade skills.
Like Commercial & residential civil engineering & land development. (plumbing, parks, sidewals, storm water mediation, electrical infrastructure, etc.)
      2. Rebuilding repurposing salvage vehicles. Most of its rusty scrap. But what if 1/3 was capable of being gutted & rehabilitated into slow ev rolling housing/commuter/grocery getter cars. Basically classic cars, stipped down & repurposed as people carriers and delivery drive vehicles.
Keeping it safety current, operator sobriety, & moving it when asked by law, = ownership.
Could be good for shop & auto parts stores needing parts runners.
Night life wise could replace the big brand people transporters, get people home safe & sound.
Philly looking like Cuba or London with slow rolling big old cabs, air cooled 4 bangers,
      ev, pnuematic, & people powered.
