My dad sunk his truck (85 ranger) once at the landing. Just a small aluminum fishing boat so he figured the parking brake alone was enough and left the truck running. The brake cable snapped and down went the truck. So he calls a tow truck and a diver (to attach the cable) and the diver just happens to be having a diving class that day - and what a perfect demonstration for them. This happened during the middle of the day so a crowd, tow truck driver, and class of divers all got to laugh at my dad's dumb mistake. We got the truck out but it was never the same after, all kinds of little electrical gremlins. He's an engineer and usually very cautious and doesn't take chances, these things happen because we're human. Love the channel.

I almost learned the hard way how easy this is. I had an old mercedes diesel I would just leave in gear at work and my co-worker came into work late one morning to tell me my car was rolling down the hill so unbelievably slow it made him laugh, he opened my trunk and threw the first thing he found under the wheel and thankfully no one was parked behind me. It had rolled about 20 feet slowly spinning over the engine 😅. Congrats on saving the truck, and I'm glad years later, this video is still getting engagement and views for you ❤.

My dad kept that Shakespeare quote next to his work phone for years, but it wasn’t until I was 10 that I suspected it wasn’t about boating.

About 15 years ago I had a customer sink their Kawasaki Teryx in a pond after losing control of it on their ranch. Their grandkids managed to not tell them about it for about a week or so. They finally retrieved it and brought it to the shop I worked at. First thing I did was dry out all the electrical that I could with compressed air. After putting all electronics back together and seeing that the unit was operational, I then proceeded to drain all the fluids as well as spin the engine over to dry it out as much as possible. It took 4 oil changes in the engine, front and rear differentials as well as transfer case/transmission to remove all the moisture. I was glad for my customer that we were able to save his UTV from a total loss. I can imagine the relief you felt when you were able to do the same as well as sort through all the “installed” problems you ended up with. Glad to see it worked out for you as well with your perseverance as well as having a good support crew. Keep the content coming!

As someone with a decent truck 2000 Chevy c3500 4 door cab 8 foot bed 454 vortex 7.4l engine with a 1974 fiber form I've never once lost my truck in a river but hey I'm glad you posted this it truly shows even if you do something your whole life always take precautions to prevent from losing something you like or care about. Good video though and glad youre mechanically inclined enough to fix the issues but you really seem like a decent guy so I wish the best for you and hope all works out in your endeavors

I think we could all learn from your positive attitude. It’s one of my favorite ingredients of your videos. Something goes wrong…oh well, you just fix it and move on. Thank you for the knowledge and positive motivation.

The amount of slime you can find on a boat ramp is amazing. I fell right on my ass one time. We always use 4wd when launching.

Need some power in front. Not rear on slimes. Cuz your rear will be close to water or in water.

Wow. Great job saving the truck. Its never about what happens. Its about how you react to what happened. You reacted appropriately and saved the truck. There should never be any haters on that. Glad you and Jenn shared this. Thank you

Very cool on bringing your truck back to life. I launch from a ramp that makes yours look flat and it has surges with ferry traffic. So one other thing I do, besides using wheel chocks, I have a piece of 2x4 cut to length and wedge that between my foot brake and seat cushion, any little extra can help.

I've had that problem before when parked on a steep incline. You only have the compression of the engine holding the weight of the truck from moving backwards. I don't think it would've happened if you had the truck in reverse vs 1st. I've had much better luck parking the truck with the trans in whatever gear the truck is facing (R for backwards and 1st for forwards down a hill)

Yours was a true story, no BS. You are human and humans make mistakes. A few years ago I changed my daughter's oil and had to jack up the Honda from the side because it was so low. Put it in park, jacked it up from the side (on a slanted driveway) ran into the house to pee, and came out with the car in the street. It had slid down the driveway on the jack. I have jacked cars forever but when you put a front-wheeled car in park and jack up the front wheels slightly you will move. Lucky for me to traffic and no damage to the car. My manley smarts were bruised but I did learn a lesson.

What a nice and rare truck. Manual V6 tundra with 4WD. Now you can make another video. How to sell a flooded vehicle. Craigslist advertisement goes: "California truck never seen rain, clean title, all new fluid.

Yeah definitely a tough combo to find! Last year of the manual transmission for Tundra. And nah, I would never do that. If I sell it, I will include this video in the listing

This should have gone viral by now.
    Thanks for sharing!
As a marine mechanic we always say once sunk it will have gremlins for life that only get worse as time progresses, due to corrosion creep, into stranded wire, connectors, sensors, modules, relays, ECM’s, etc.
Salt water being worse than fresh, along with how long it was under and how long before problem is addressed.
The worst is the second owner problems when they purchase a boat that they didn’t know sank.
It happens more than you’d guess. From bilge plug holes clogged with leaves over winter while on a trailer to swamping at the dock due to dead battery-no bilge pump.
Then there’s the-forgot to put the bilge plug in!
I also cringe when I see off-roaders fording a deep water obstacle.
I’d be interested in updates over time over how the truck holds up.
Just sold my 2006 Tundra in 2020. Great truck.

Awesome content once again! The main reason I subscribed. You dive head first (pun intended) into your work and it seems there is no job too daunting. As others have said, very few people would have tackled the amount of work that took. Thanks to the magic of video, it looked like a quick and not too laborious job, but we all know better. I couldn't think of a better name for your channel. You get to it, and are very knowledgeable and prepared and still find time to educate and entertain as well. Good work!

if you're on a hill to roll backwards, try leaving it in reverse. lower gear ratio and it wont force your engine to move the wrong direction

If you leave it in reverse at a boat ramp, that will cause the engine to spin in normal direction
