    Thanks for the review, this is on my shopping list. Tops knives are fantastic, I have 8. My kids bought me the Scandi Trekker for Christmas and I’m loving it.

    I have a hard time thinking of this knife as a puukko, it having scales and exposed tang to transfer cold to your hand

    • @beardedgear
      @beardedgear  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s what they named it, and it fits the application for me 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @drytool

      @@beardedgear I bet you don't live in Finland, where it's cold AF and where the puukko was actually designed for.

    • @beardedgear
      @beardedgear  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope! I live in Southern California, not cold at all here.

    • @tonyjedioftheforest1364
      @tonyjedioftheforest1364 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m sure puukko simply means knife in Finland but I think any Scandi grind medium size knife without a finger guard and no choil fits the standard definition.

    • @Wildwestwrangler
      @Wildwestwrangler 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@drytool it really doesn't transfer the cold on this knife surprisingly

    I have several TOPS knives, I do like their workmanship. The only bad thing is some of the sheaths that come with their knives.

    • @beardedgear
      @beardedgear  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve loved the sheath on this one, but that’s good to know.

    • @Wildwestwrangler

      Some sheaths are good from tops, some are bad.

    Nice review love this knive maybe buy it some day! I think you would really like the Essee PR4 too. If my PR4 is dead i will buy this one. Thx 👍🏼

  • @benotyourboss

    I would say that a combination of this puukko and the Benchmade 200 puukko would be perfect!

    • @Wildwestwrangler
      @Wildwestwrangler 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Benchmade leuku is awesome

    • @benotyourboss
      @benotyourboss 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Wildwestwrangler indeed, however the spine of the TOPS is sharper and the handle is meatier! If I had to choose, I would go for the Benchmade, but I have small hands so someone else would possibly go for the meatier TOPS...

    Carful pulling your knife out, "don't want to scare the other hikers"?
    When I hear guys say this about knives I instantly think ya must be in California. That sucks bro... having to worry that your knife might spook another hiker. Our government has made normal life seem weird and weird life seem normal....Its UPSIDE DOWN . I sometimes wear my fix blades on my belt in public but my state has relaxed knife laws for now....BUT with the current overreaching behavior I might have to move to Texas or somewhere more freedom friendly.

      Yeah the trails around Los Angeles have some pretty sheltered people haha, maybe one day I’ll get out of this crazy place 😂

    • @jordy703
      @jordy703 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In the Netherlands 🇳🇱 if you wear your knive on your belt they will arrest you in 5 min... 😂 so sad.
      Wish i would live in a country where i could where a knife on me. Crazy laws

      Thanks for your comment, was hoping someone else feels the same way, could care less if some candy ass hiker is skittish about bigger knives. From a Vietnam Vet patriot.

      Texas has pretty much no restrictions on knives except for a few locations

    • @Wildwestwrangler

      @@jordy703 move to Texas. Knives 5.5 inches or less aren't even classified as weapons.
