    Nice knife, the perfect size for the perfect ask. Beautiful knife and sheath, glad to see these types of knifes coming back and being made. Useful general purpose and perfect for field use.

    Say Heah Aaron, Infact I teamed my Top's Mini Scandi 2.5 with my Potbelly both believe it or not match eachother and actually compliment eachother too, I neck carry the Potbelly and belt carry the Top's M S 2.5, NOT. But seriously, I like that combo especially when I practice the One Tool Option. Job well done.

    Brilliant review. I will be getting one for Xmas but I don’t like the sheath. I would not be feel comfortable with the button snap, I would probably epoxy the shut. Also you demonstrated very well how high it rides on your belt so I would add a dangler. I would also like the knife to fit deeper into the sheath as I know from experience when it becomes worn the knife could fall out when walking or sitting down but this is less likely using a dangler.

  • @alanmurdock9765
    @alanmurdock9765 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great knife I love mine! Only problem for me is I feel it rides to high on my belt for access. I clipped a small carabiner on it then clip that to my belt loop. Kinda turns it into a dangler that can be used without a belt.

    Great review, though it would be great to show how this knife or any other knife would do on field dressing wild game. Tops knives are great for EDC or tactical situation, i use them myself. The lioness would be great (different color though) Keep up the reviews
    Thanks

    I got given a MSK 2.5 and I will say TOPS made me like 1095. Their Traction Coat (carbon chunk ceracoat) is the best in the business and the blades are the real deal.. this is the shit pioneers used. Only caveat is even though it’s perfectly done.. can still rust easily so you gotta take good care to keep it dry on the exposed edge.

    Great little multi-purpose knife. I'm just not a fan of leather sheaths. Great review as always.

  • @mattadler4710
    @mattadler4710 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is this one an actual zero degree scandi or is it the usual modified Scandi-vex or micro bevel edge? Either way, this is still a good size to double as an EDC. I do wish it had a hard fitted sheath instead of the leather. I would be fine with leather if it offered a horizontal carry option. I know this is more of a traditional bushcraft style sheath for what is basically a bushcraft knife, but I don't care for them personally. I like the flat leather sheath that comes with the FDX and Baja knives. Still a sick knife for a great price. I might get this over the MSK.

    I was watching and I couldn't help but be impressed by the gloves you have on. What brand are they and what are your thoughts on the gloves. I'm already sold on the TOPS line of knives. Hoping that I'll be able to invest in a BOB field-craft knife and the trekker as a companion. Great Video. I'm subscribing.

    nice knife and a great review but I can think of a whole range of Mora's that'll do the job as good if not better for a fraction of the price

    • @gideonstactical
      @gideonstactical  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is true, I would say that anything a 4 inch knife or less can do a mora can do the same or better. But that would make for a really boring collection of knives real quick. lol

    • @brutalbrital
      @brutalbrital 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      mate I am a 52 year old bloke and a knifemaker I use the trade name Brin Kniven, out of my small workshop, I still like to do a lot of bushcraft as often as possible. I make a small full tang bushcraft knife very similar to the trekker, they are great knives I agree and if cost isn't an issue then by all means buy a trekker or a similar one from a custom knife maker like myself. I was simply stating that you can do the same tasks with a mora and yes they are cheap (that's the point) and they are great for beginners and professional alike.

    I know this is an older vid but I have the same question as James Duncan below -- the scandi trekker vs the Bardford Guardian 3 (which I think you also reviewed). If you could only have one, which?

    When I WON my Mini Scandi Top's Knife, First thing I said, hmmmmm its small, I carried pocket knives, sheathed folders, but now I carry my Mini Scandi around my neck, and I love it, I was just thinking how nice of a set the Mini Trekker would make with the Mini Scandi in the woods, hmmmmm.

    Scandi Trekker or ESEE RB3?

  • @semdijkstra9784
    @semdijkstra9784 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    hey, i am lanning on having a three knife system: the schf45/kershaw camp 10, the tops silent hero and the scandi trekker.
    what do you think about these?

    • @gideonstactical
      @gideonstactical  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here would be my suggestion. It looks like you have about $300 to spend coming from the knives you picked. I have videos on all I am about to share with you. I would suggest, BK9 or BK39 plus micarta handles $130, TOPS Silent Hero $150, Mora companion $15 plus Armory Plastics Kydex sheath at bladehq $18. You would be set for life. The Camp10 is good for the price, but your chopper needs to be a good work horse that will last a life time. BK9 is epic and worth every penny. The Silent hero is perfect as the mid-weight survival knife. The Mora is way cheaper, and will carve circles around the Trekker. That would be my suggestion for a great 3 knife system.

      hey arron I am really conflicted about a purchase and I come to you with everything I looked for a comparison video but can't find one anywhere. Should I go with this knife the 1)Tops scandi trekker or 2) Esee Jg3 camp lore? I own the rb3 but I want another knofe. which of those two would you suggest for carving and camp chores. making notches traps ect. thank you. love the channel brotha

      gideonstactical Ok so in other words forget about the “Trekker” and go with the Mora is what you are saying. Got it. I was going to order the Tops Trekker but I’ll go Mora instead. Thanks for the advice!
