    In VR I turn the "Use Mouse" option off. Which puts a static yellow crosshair slightly above centerline in my VR vision. I mapped right click/left click to two push buttons on the back of my throttle handles. I use the TDC slew controller "Press Down" as a modifier which also turns the left/right click into mouse wheel up/down. It's worked for me so far and is pretty quick. I might grab these though, definitely add's a level of immersion but I've got quite good at mapping a ton of shtuff using modifier buttons so my hands never really leave collective or cyclic. One thing about DCS man, the community never stops amazing me. They fix more issues and provide more features than ED or mods do most of the time. Thanks for showcasing them!

      @@a.common.American I did this for a while, I took it a step further. I used voice attack, and a user named Bailey set up a cursor profile that with voice activation would move the cursor to a predetermined position.
      Example, I would say "cursor high", and in the right seat of a helo the cursor would go high left so I could toggle overhead switches without having to break my next, same with "cursor low" low and left for center console switches. The settings were configurable to customize where the cursor jumped to, until this now that was my go to way of doing it for helicopters. The community is what really pushed this game. Keeps it fresh.

    Interesting middleground between full immersion, and ease of access, and accessibility. I would wish for hands being tracked by the pilot models in game, though, and for the hands to snap back to the controls when you go back to them. It feels like this technology is in it's pioneering phase still, with different solutions being tested out everywhere. Looking forward to a good solid solution for the holy trinity of immersion, accessibility and easy use.

      @@DirectorX59 I understand the need to move the arms. Hear me out, in VR my right hand rarely leaves the cyclic so that always looks normal to me. The left arm is usually just out of my fov so my mind never thinks why isn't my arm moving. This demo is used with the hands (gloves) turned off in the .Lua files, because they obstruct your view of what you are interacting with. Thus my brain sorts out the fact I don't see my hands moving. I don't see this tech too far from being capable, as with the quest they already implement hands overlays as an option. I'm so excited to see whats to come with VR. For sim gaming it really is amazing. I'm getting quicker and quicker with this mouse control. With proper haptics and vr settings with a good computer build. The mind really forgets its a game. While I am not aware of anything designed for one foot use, I'd imagine anything that has a brake feature like toe brakes would be able to be bound to the opposite axis... for instance. My pedals are fixed to the collective and cyclic as one unit... however the left foot has capability to use yaw (anti torque for helos) left, and toe brake left, but I could bind toe brake left to yaw right... my pedals don't self center but if I had self centering pedals with toe brakes I'd have analog capability to bind both axies if that's makes sense.

    • @slughead817
      @slughead817 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yup. But that’s not the fault of leap motion, it’s ED’s implementation of the hands. This is where the Slugmouse excels as it replicates the mouse buttons but on your finger. Combined with hand tracking of the leap motion and conversion to mouse movement with the HTCC, you get simple intuitive control of your cockpit without fumbling around for a mouse.

    • @paristo
      @paristo 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      "And in combat you don't have time for failed button presses."
      Hence HOTAS.....
      Seriously.
      You are not suppose to be adjusting things when the combat starts. You need to be ready when you arrive on the combat zone.
      That is why HOTAS was developed, to make it possible for pilot to quickly get aircraft in combat mode and keep eyes outside.
      This is as well why if anyone looks example Su-27S cockpit in DCS, can see that LOT OF FUNCTIONS, are in anywhere else than HOTAS.
      Example the radar scan azimuth left/center/right is not anywhere on HOTAS. It is on own panel front of the throttle.
      The targeting modes like HMS, IRST, Vertical etc, they are not in HOTAS, they are in the same panel at front of throttle.
      To change those, pilot needs to move hand off from the throttle and press buttons and switches in front.
      But none of that is making the fighter bad. As so much is automated to just couple buttons or switches.
      And problem is that DCS doesn't model properly or correctly the Su-27S or MiG-29 systems and their logic at all, even in their super simple manner.
      Like example the stick has switch up/down for thumb, that choose BVR and IR missiles. When pilot switch from BVR to IR, the system change radar to vertical mode, or to HMS if it was activated.
      There is no such thing as "Switch weapons" in throttle, as that is "Switch Station". The pilot press it to select between what station to use if needs to override automatically chosen station.
      And then the IRST and Radar are always coupled. Pilot only choose in the panel that which one is the priority, and other is secondary. Both are constantly working and scanning, there is no selection which sensor you want to use. You just get all the targets and you choose your target and fight. No thinking required.
      This is as well reason why you can not notch a Su-27 or MiG-29, as you need to blind all systems, IRST + Radar + datalink. All are constantly working together, so when the target notches, its range doesn't change to you as it is beaming, it is irrelevant then to you. But the radar might be blind to find it, but IRST tracks it. So angular vector is constantly maintained and known, lock is not lost. And when the SARH missile is launched, you need to notch both radars, the Flanker/Mig + SARH, and you can't do that both. There is no notching those systems like on western ones.

      @paristo "You are not suppose to be adjusting things when
      the combat starts, You need to be ready when you
      arrive on the combat zone." That's just not true. Bombing run on an FA18C, first using a Tpod to identify targets I can do all from the HOTAS, but I need to once arriving at target area switch between two sets of coordinates for each set of 4 JDAM's. I have to step between each of 4 stations and change to Too1 or 2. This is while the first set JDAM's are on their way. It is not done on the HOTAS IRL and the Slugmouse just make it so much easier than finding your mouse in DCS.

    • @paristo
      @paristo 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@MaddogMike-444 "but I need to once arriving at target area switch between two sets of coordinates for each set of 4 JDAM's."
      IRL the JDAMS are already programmed. The pilots are not there to do any of that.
      JDAM is used for strike mission to known permanent location that doesn't shift after intelligence is gathered and mission has been planned and pilots takes off.
      The pilots has coordinates in data cartridge to input automatically all coordinates to JDAM.
      All that the pilots does when closing to combat zone is to confirm all is properly ready for release.
      You release all the bombs on the target area at once in ripple, and fly away. You don't use targeting pod, and most don't even have it installed in the flight.
      You literally don't push buttons out there and program things or try to find targets for your JDAM.
      That is why you have laser guided bombs if you need to have TOO capability on something.
      "It is not done on the HOTAS IRL and the Slugmouse just make it so much easier than finding your mouse in DCS."
      I have been 6 years now mouse/keyboard free in DCS, so you don't need to tell how great it is.
      I have been preaching the VR for over 9 years already. And I instantly back then removed the keyboard and usual mouse, moving to the finger mouse. I waited years that ED would implement the virtual hands to have any input capability, as it was only possible move hands in cockpit without any animations for couple years back then.
      ED could do few very easy changes to their hand tracking functions to make it super easy to use. How to example have right click, and left click. And how to have the pinch to adjust knobs and levers by grabbing them. The gestures would be almost totally functional each time. But it takes for ED years every time to get something simple done, meanwhile very simple things are implemented at slow pace.
