can dcs run on a 1080? what gpu and what settings do you have?

@@Urbancohort337Why Sedentary?
In an era where instant gratification with arcadish games that reward you just for playing, DCS is a platform that will challenge you to the point where after 200 hours of flying, reading and learning, you might be able to at least figure out how to perform a simple mission successfully, and reward you with… nothing really. The actual reward is knowing you have painstakingly mastered to startup, takeoff, strike, defend, refuel and finally land in one piece.
Yea but dcs is not hard. Wags was actually just talking about Sam sites and making them realistic but the problem is there are people who think dcs is too hard now but it’s not. Everything is like training almost.
How do you go about learning though? Are there tutorials in DCS itself?
There are training missions. Solid tutorials on TH-cam.
@@l.a.french3063 Yep there are interactive training tutorials that teach you the basics on various weapon systems for each aircraft, plus how to startup, take-off and land. I mostly spend some time on these to get to know the jet/chopper and then for more in-depth I usually follow online tutorials that are more extensive.
Thank you.@@ControlledPairsGaming
We're not here for Fortnite rave melees, we love the dry shit. Definitely down for more of this!
Best comment.
And yet the multiplayer for this game is just Air Quake. Sky death match with zero consequences.
AI doesn't have to be dry though
We'll see who the real sturdy folks are when the Typhoon hits the lobby. Look at me talking shit like I can fking dogfight or fly in multiplayer.
DUDE! This is exactly what I'm going through right now. Just got back into flight sims and feel like I'm having to re-learn everything and one of my good friends bought all of his flight sim gear and is wanting me to teach. It's cool but it's harder when you gotta learn yourself and teach.
Relatable. I find it helps me learn and retain better, though.
I hear ya. DCS is amazing. I have a wicked flight sim set up. Warthog joystick/throttle, cougar MFD's, 4 montiors, 2 tablets for gameglass, tobie eye tracker 5, rudder pedals, surround sound, hopped up PC and so many DCS modules but .... setting up the key binds can be a very lengthy process to say the least. Have enough time in the F14B to be effective but now I'm working on the F15E and it's like starting all over again. Same with hopping in the Apache. TG a dude named greased Lightning has shared his set ups c/w changeable MS word template because keeping everything in order is nuts.
It’s not realistic.. not even close.
"youll pay hundreds or even thousands"
What is this, the sims 4?
(Yar har, fiddle de dee )
Basically the same thing 🤣
I was lucky enough to try out a friend of mines DCS setup with his VR headset. I've never had an experience quiet like it, it was extremely real feeling...my knees got weak from the height, haha. It was amazing.
Depends on who you ask, DCS is everything between a game and a serious sim.. That's the great thing about DCS: It is as realistic as you want it to be, or as unrealistic as you want it to be. Some communities love to follow every little detail of tons of SOPs, use real world approach charts and/or patterns, real life 9lines etc, while others just have fun with it.. That being said: Hornet is love, Hornet is life!
you forgot hornet is laugh.....hornet is Live, Laugh, Love
hornet doesn't now how to IFF
@@joesroads6387 You don't know what you're talking about. Look up "Shrek is Love, Shrek is Life", that ought to clear things up for you.
That's exactly why I love Mission Editor so much. You can take a spin around Area 51 or dodge SAM launches near Tblisi. The world is yours and you can have fun enjoying the scenery in it or providing CAS in a fictional battle.
It begins.
Yessir! See you in the skies soon 👊
This is great lmao
I just got started in DCS with some gaming buddies myself. We’ve been enjoying the hell out of it. Keep the vids of it rolling🤘🏻.
4:15 what you said about DCS is true about aviation in general. As a pilot, you never truly learn everything there is to know about flying. There are always new challenges you have never faced before. You go some time without using certain skills and building up others then you go back and have to use those old skills again.
Guys don't let the title of the video fool you, it is a game its not real he's lying
Thats the thing, if you die in DCS you die IRL aswell.
Bro he's not lying. It's not intended to be just a game. It's a simulator.
@@cipher1345 no he’s lying his arse off.
Deep breath, my dude. It's a TH-cam video about a simulator which is enjoyed as a game.
@@ControlledPairsGaming I’m only having a laugh brother, people can enjoy games how they want, playing Skyrim as a flight sim at the minute myself.
Man DCS in VR with a proper setup is the best experience. Love this sim. Spent waaay to much money on this XD
What all do you need to get started playing? I have a Quest 2.
So glad to see you doing some DCS again especially after all the vtol vr stuff. As cool as vtol vr DCS is a while other level and really doesnt get the recognition that it should in the larger gaming community. If you want to get into the viper I'd love to see you in the viper crew discord where we could get you trained up in a real mans jet lol
DCS is a game, a very fun game at that. Or at least it becomes a simple game when you've played for almost a decade and are very familiar with everything. I've mastered F-15E and AH-64D. I find that specializing in 1 fixed wing and 1 rotary is the way to go.
You mastered a plane that isn’t complete congratulations.
the only game in DCS, is the waiting game. waiting for them to fix shit
Would absolutely like more on DCS, but would love if you included details like how HARMS work or the range of the SU-6 AA that shot at you in future videos.
Got the F16 as my first module when I started. The moment I got a kill with an aim9 in some mountains in multiplayer I was hooked.
The multiplayer desync is present in DCS but a lot more common in some places more than others. The Hoggit server you were playing on is shockingly bad for desync
I recommend DDCS hardcore server for a true dynamic PVP campaign experience, and Tempest for a good 70s early 80s experience
Through the Inferno generally has better stability and is still casually PVE. Generally where I recommend people go first before jumping to a place like Grayflag since Grayflag still has some performance issues too....
Come play on DDCS. Dynamic PVP/PVE campaign that can last for weeks sometimes months
@@BSO_Actual DDCS had PVE now? 🤢

Cant wait until the F4 Phantom comes out, you should try some of the older jets, like the mirage f1 or mig21 or F4 when it comes out!
Planning on putting some time in the F-5. Will probably grab the F-4 as well.
MiG-21 is a real pain in the as* when converting from modern jets with fly by system to all analog and mechanical. Pull a bit more G and engines goes out.
About exactly one year ago I was playing Ace Combat 7 and I was loving that game. But it made wonder. What would a real jet fly like? So I looked into simulators, found DCS and since FC3 was on sale, I dug out my Saitek Cyborg EVO stick from 2005 and gave it a try. One year later and I have F-18, F-16, F-15E and a Spitfire. And Syria and the Channel. And Tobii eyetracker.
Yeah, I love it.
DCS is one of those games I start up every once in a while when my confidence is high, just to limp back to VTOL after I've trashed several airframes on the tarmac. Lol. It was one of the first games I ran through my VR headset actually. Ripped the wings off a frogfoot in a high G turn. Fond memories.
In my 60s and I love DCS. Mig 29 and Viggen are my babies.
So many VTOL VR videos I knew there was a matter of time before you blessed us with DCS again.
Maaaan! I am out of town and can't play DCS, but this is really making me wanna hop into a Hornet or Tomcat!
You sum it up perfectly. DCS is immensely difficult, but extremely rewarding. Especially in VR.
"So I had to help my friends learn the module as well"
Meanwhile your friends are already flying somewhat formations and holding their own in the environments you're dragging them into! What a skilled crew you got :D !
Good content man. I am in the same position as I tried DCS for about 6 months some 2 years ago. Unfortunately I let it fade away for other games but looking at your video I might give it another try and reactivate my Warthog Hotas in the basement 😃
Let's goooo!
You're right, it's not just a game. I'm flying F/A-18 too and helping people with learning it, as well as some other simpler modules. Usually to get to know "enough" takes about 2 months and to know module well - about 6 months of flying 2h a day 2-3 times a week. It's not overly complicated when you have team to fly with. And aviation in general is a team sport.
If you'd be interested we can fly together sometime, and we can learn some tricks that this aircraft is capable of.
lol that last landing. Crosswind component for the jet definitely exceeded. Freaking hurricane winds on some servers.
This is the most insane video I've ever seen on your channel, i love flight sims and I never knew you liked them as well. Can't wait to see more flight sim content!
Man that means a lot! Thanks much for watching!
Nice video man! Im about to get back into it myself. Sold my sim rig 3 years ago and just built a new PC w 4090 etc and Trak Racer TR160 w 3 34 curved alienware OLEDs. What stick and throttle are you using? I used to have the Tmaster Warthog but want to try a newer setup this go around.
F-14 was my first module, and it took hours of practice to be able to take offf and land successfully. That was before I'd even thought about firing any weapons. The learning curve for carrier landings is vertical! BUT... nothing feels like the first time you nail that 3 wire.
Fighter pilots who spends hours on this on their downtime is like a truck driver playing Euro Truck simulator on their day off.
22:37 “[su-25] can’t dogfight it’s okay”
Growling sidewinder: 😼
The thing is I think this game shows anyone with a modicum of intellect can fly these aircraft. Which is what they were designed for. You don't need to be Einstein to be able to fly a fighter jet. Especially older aircraft, such as the F-5 and Mig-21. These aircraft weren't designed for geniuses to fly them. Now being able to understand proper tactics to engage in a dogfight is another story, again, basic tactics can go a long way. DCS is an incredible simulation.
The moment you get the fist air to air kill after a merge while looking out the top of the cockpit cozz you just shot a nasty close range off boor shot is amazing
As interesting as it is watching you guys play this, I know I’ll never have the patience to learn. I’ve bought 3 black shark modules, and I don’t know what to do after I copy the tutorial instructions. Man it must be great to have these skills.
Just takes time man. Worth once you figure it out!
@@ControlledPairsGaming I’m old pairs, time is countable in phone upgrades.
i just love watching clips from DCS and damn game looks movie like.. i love it, even latest video from DCS devs showcasing whats to come its amazing cinematic
I remember the times, when DCS was only Lock On and Lock On Flamming Cliffs. Good old days
I love watching DCS, but I'm a bit biased because it's my main game.
Just a style suggestion though, I'd disable the Battle Damage Assessment (Blue square with damage), it's a bit of an eyesore and a bit redundant with the nice tacview overlays you've been doing.
One thing I haven't seen many people doing in DCS videos is going into PVP servers and using real life team strategies and procedures against other players (coordinated BVR like grinders, ACM, etc). It seems like it would be right up your alley.
FINALLY! I've been waiting for you to get into DCS for so long!
big tip to stay engaged, learn the quick way of doing things first, the easy way so you can go out and have fun. after that, get into the nitty gritty of it.
DCS is truly an amazing game/sim. It's not a "load it up and go shooting" type of experience. Between figuring out how to set up your HOTAS, VR/IR Tracking, making sure your computer and connection will provide you with quality games play, it's definitely a time and money commitment. But, it's time and money well spent imo. BTW, I suck at it.
once you have the controls etc set up, unless its a full fidelity AND the server doesnt have quick start ups, it kinda is load up an go shooting. i can join GS server and be up in the mountains doing flanker shit in 10ish mins.
We all love the switchology in DCS that is why we fly it.
Great video from an existing DCS user. It’s a bit more than a flight sim game for sure. Great quality video too, thank you.
23:17 just standard Georgian/Crimean weather. a casual 30 knot crosswind. Georgia at War is a fun server, but they really need to put a cap on that wind setting lol. Imagine having to do a CASE 1 in that.
It's insane! That approach wasn't even terrible (until I realized my gear wasn't down RIP).
@@ControlledPairsGamingrip
I really enjoyed this. I have DCS and a Lenovo Legion Go. I was happy to see that DCS does load and play on it. Now I have to figure out how to get set up. I have a cheap hotas but think I need to upgrade to a better one. Anyway this game is intimidating. So many controls! Not sure how I will keep going but planning on trying to make progress.
I love DCS and glad to see you and your buddies playing. Wish I could get any of my friends interested, but it's too "simulator" (which I love) and not enough "game".
Relatable. I've found that over the years the more complex a game/sim, the more invested I become in figuring it out.
It's only resource intensive if you are in massive multi-player servers you can get by with an old machine on single player
This was a fantastic video, love the way you cut the replay into the footage you recorded.
That being said there is only one thing that this video makes me think of and I apologize in advance but it must be stated that the missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is - whichever is greater - it obtains a difference or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was is now the position that it isn't. In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation. The variation being the difference between where the missile is and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was. The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows: Because a variation has modified some of the information that the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice versa. And by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error.
I feel like this is deep DCS lore copypasta and I love it.
@ControlledPairsGaming 😉
WOW! Great DCS video. That was really something to watch.
DCS is the best aeronautical graphics and visual effects simulator for domestic use, the best avionics, tactics and dynamic campaign simulator is FALCON BMS.
It had to be said and it was said.
As long as you're into F-16.
Avionics argument isn't true anymore. DCS viper has matched and improved on most aspects of the avionics.
@@audunskilbrei8279 I haven't played BMS, since I'm plenty busy with F-5 to even think about DCS Viper, let alone giving another sim a go, but are those the same models in both games?

Jump in the hoggit discord and training servers for sure
Man this video makes me jealous I love DCS. I have a pimax crystal and a full virpil setup and I unfortunately cannot play DCS for awhile. Had a house fire and I am still not allowed to grab my PC setup out of the house as of yet. Hopefully I will be able to get it back soon so I can get back on DCS. The insurance company has to test all the electronics in the house and it would suck if I had to wait months to get a new virpil setup. Hopefully I will be able to get back to launching off the deck and conducing case 3 recoveries in the pitch black when you don't see the boat until your wheels slam down on the deck!
Last I played DCS was when they had the free month(s) during 2020 or 2021 whenever it was. Bought the F18 and Supercarrier.....though I enjoyed it, I never went far past the tutorial missions. Unfortunately, standard flight sims are my primary and I enjoy video games as well as work, so investing time in learning this is so extensive, trying to go back to it is like starting from scratch.
The hornet is actually one of the “simpler” full fidelity models in DCS and many consider it to be relatively straightforward, especially for beginners.
Yeah both the F18C and the Jeff are both really simple to learn for beginners, even if the f18 has a few more confusing things when you never touched a plane game before x)
Its a game. Nothing is at stake.

The graphics are so realistic that, when the war in Ukraine started, a military analyst came on national TV in Romaina and commented on some footage of a SU being taken down by AA fire thnking it was real war footage
DCS and Arma are famous for incidents like that 🤣

I can't even A2A refuel during the day let alone at night. Nice one.
Most vehicles can test-driven for 2 weeks for free from the DCS online store
It's really easy to forget stuff in a Jet if you stop playing for a few months. It's so complex! I just stick to the F-15C... no way I am learning a new plane haha. it will be like starting all over
I recently... "repaired" my TrackIR clip with reflective jacket material, so time to get back into this game lol
Thanks for the video. DCS seems like a very interesting flight simulator. It was hard to understand some of the things you were saying and how it relates to the combat.
If you make some tutorial videos I'll be sure to check them out. Thanks again.
Yoooo pro tip. My instructor told me when lining up for centerline on the rwy u wanna use ur ailerons to get the centerline and ur rudders to put ur nose out front and lined up with the runway. Don't do this before the flare (I assume because it's just not necessary). So basically be centerline and have ur wheels parallel to the rwy before touchdown, might help with the landings in heavy crosswinds.
Do DCS in VR. Best immersion experience in gaming ive ever had

Had DCS for years and have always found it daunting in complexity. But like you correctly say DCS is not a game, It's as close as you can get to real military sim on a home computer. This video has made me want to get back into it. Spent ages learning to fly the A-10 and as you correctly point out it's a nice feeling when you finally take off. Not much missing from this to real life than maybe real shrapnel lol. Great Video and following 👍👍😎😎
In my opinion DCS is a game if you play like a sort of any other arcade about air combat but it can be a good sim if you simulate real world operation procedures. Obviously isn’t a certificaded version for real military training purposes like Msfs2020 for Civil fights only exception for Xplane and P3D that have certificaded versions for real training in USA.
everything is a game - even trying to make her like you even though you make nerdy distinctions between games and simulators online
Holy crap that looks amaaaaazing! You're so lucky to have rl buddies to fly with in this, wow. What a level of simulation! Who wants to go back to the normal rl day job after doing this?
I agree this game is not like playing war thunder or any other game with aircraft dog fights like battlefield or ace combat. This requires a lot of patience and dedication, it’s very rewarding when you can get the aircraft to move and stay up properly. For those saying it’s just a game is like comparing need for speed to iracing completely different environments and feels
Wags said it himself, that DCS is a Flight Sim Game.
Man, i am having a tough time getting the f 18 down. The f 16 was my first Module, and was able to get it with little to know issue. This f 18 is driving me crazy. Its great to watch what i might be able to do one day.

That crosswind was no bueno. I was doing fine till I realized my gear wasn't down! 🤣
Working on mastering the F16. DCS is the only thing I play now. I just need friends to play with now.
I want to see someone with no military experience play this simulator, get addicted, and get so good at it he could beat a majority of current US fighter pilots. Can't wait for a video like that to hit the internet.
I would love DSC if it enabled vr touch controls like in VTOL VR, but right now vr is way too clunky and i don’t want to spend hundred of dollars on flight simulator gear
I enjoyed your video! Love DCS and flying the Hornet!

You're in my world now. This is what I do for a living 😂I think about getting into DCS sometimes. I think it'd be fun.
Oh boy, that landing at the end looked so promising with that slip and then it all fell apart. Gotta love it.
I didn't have my gear down and didn't realize it till I was 10 ft off the deck, went to extend instead of going around and bought it haha!
Sounds crazy, but remembering to lower my landing gear is always my fatal flaw when landing. I’m learning the A10 CII, and it’s really easy to land using the TVV. I find myself concentrating so much on my speed and preparing not to skid off the runway, that I sometimes forget my landing gear. What I think is going to be an easy landing, turns into a long, fiery skid down the runway, eventually crashing into a vehicle or tree. 😂
You should try Falcon BMS, it'll blow your mind and you'll realize what a true combat flight sim is really all about when you get into it. I started out playing DCS and gave falcon a shot and i will never go back. DCS stands for digital cockpit simulator. It has alot of eye candy, various planes and a whole lot of bugs with no dynamic campaign. Yes, all you can do is fly the f16 in bms but it is leaps and bounds above the DCS version.
