I studied Jazz Drums for quiet some time and I´m very much enjoying it - Nowadays I wouldn't call myself a Jazz-Drummer though. But I like the impact it still has on my playing. Cheers!
@@SimonSchroederDrums oh that explains a lot! I can definitely see that you studied jazz, your playing is very enjoyable, you're amazing man! And by the way, I'm gonna start studying jazz drums next year😁I'm so excited
@Myriam-nk2fw thanks a lot!! Great to hear that you’re going to study drums! It’s so precious being abled to invest so much time in what you love. I wish you a great time practicing! 🥁
@@SimonSchroederDrums yeah it's just amazing that I have the chance to do this, thank you! And you, never stop posting these amazing videos, thanks so much!
I´m listening a lot to the parts before sitting down on the kit. So by the time I get to the kit I know everything by heart - then it's just repetition. I remember needing a bit more time for the part starting at 3:54. For stuff like this I recommend "The Ultimate Double Bass Drum Lesson" by Matt Garstka.
Thanks a lot! Actually I‘m not using room mics. I just have the overheads and a mic which I placed between the bass drum and the floor Tom. This mic is recording a lot of room and adds a lot of energy to the mix.
Thanks a lot! I dunno about the exact kit Halpern used on the record - but it should be a Pearl Kit, since he is endorsed by them. They recorded the drums at the real world studios which is crazy.. such a great room!
Hey there, thanks! I used Matt Garstkas "The Ultimate Double Bass Drumming Lesson" for training my left foot. This really helps for all the tricky double bass grooves wich are used a lot in modern Progressive Metal. I hope you can translate this! Cheers 🤟🏻
@@SimonSchroederDrums Hey bro off topic but I just released a new single called “Nexus” and I’d really appreciate it if you would check it out and give me some feedback!🙏🏻
the jazz improv is a welcome addition!
Love that you did the jazz breakdown as well, so good
Thanks! Yeah, that jazzy bit is fun! I like the idea of the same kit sounding very different just by changing the dynamics . Cheers!
Great playing, love how high you have the drums in the mix
Thanks! I‘m glad that you like it!
my gawd the balls to cover this!!! ...well done!
Thanks! Yeah, I had to do it. One of my favorite tracks last year!

Yes! THE are great! They have a new album called "Urian" which is great. Definitely worth checking out 🤟🏻
freakin siiiiiiiick my guy you absolutely killed it!

4:25 makes me want to see you play some jazz on a jazz kit, feels a lot like you could nail it if that was the genre you were playing

Cover was super tight! All of the ghost notes were super clean. Another great playthrough from you!
Also, what room mics do you use?

That also looks like the exact kit Nolly and Periphery used on the album??

nice bro that china sounds bitchin'!! .. also love that lil stak setup on your right
Hey, thanks!! The stacks are a Luke Holland Stack and a Matt Garstka Temporal Stack 2 on top. Cheers!
Nice job here! How do you manage to not crack your bullet stack? Sticks you're using? I shredded mine pretty quickly unfortunately.
Thanks man! My bullet stack already cracked on one side.. but it lastet for around 2 years now. I‘m using 5B sticks - so pretty standard :)
