- This new record by Knocked Loose really kicks a**
I also like how the band manages to bring in a decent amount of musical variety on all the tracks while still being so uncompromisingly heavy.
And I love the Reaggeton in the middle section of this track - it hits you off guard and just fits surprisingly well.
I want to thank Martin Schnella for doing such a great job with the mix again.
Check him out here: / matteff2000
In this recording I use:
Tama Star Walnut Drums
Tama SLP G-Maple Snare
Meinl Byzance and Classics Custom Cymbals
Meinl Standard 5B Sticks

This is a Drum Cover of the song "Suffocate"' from the LP "You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To" (released 2024) by Knocked Loose and is the copyrighted property of its owner(s).
That Reggeaton groove at 1:53 is just such stupid fun 💯
Yeah.. you would think a reggaeton shouldn’t fit. But it just belongs there 😅

Amazing job, what pedals do you use?
Thanks a lot! I´m using the Tama Speedcobra Pedals
please give me tips on making my kit sound this good lol
Hey there, I‘m glad you like the sound so much!
Most important points to achieve this sound are performance, tuning and equipment which is in good shape.
I like to tune the Toms in the "warm zone" - batter heads are tuned pretty low here - the reso heads are tuned around a third higher. Bass drum is tuned very low on both sides, Snare drum is cranked up very high here.
Then when performing I‘m hitting consistent and (for this style of music) always at the center of the drums. Like this I’m getting the most punchy and precise sound out of the drums.
In the end Martin did a great job with the mix of course!
👍👍👏👏💯💯🤘🤘
🤘🏻🤘🏻
tuning and mix walkthrough please!
Hey there, i tuned the drums like this:
Toms - Reso tighter than batter side (usually a third higher). Batter side is tuned pretty low.
Snare is cranked up very high on this one, Bass Drum very deep on Batter and Reso side.
Martin Schnella did the mixing on this one - he didn’t use any samples and rather worked with the drum bus than working on just the single tracks.
Wow😂
😃😊
Fetzt!

Dankööö 🤘🏻
What’s ur snare chain?
I would have to ask Martin Schnella for the exact chain. But it’s all just the natural signal - no samples used in any of my videos. Cheers!
There is no real Snare Chain. The whole drum sound lives from it's bus processing and many many steps coming together. All in all it is just a perfect played and well tuned kit. I did some cleaning of the close mics, analog processing on the bus, some compression on the individual tracks, some EQ by tase, some Saturation, some clipping....
Thanks Martin ❤️
