The link to his profile isn't working...
Hey everyone! I’m beyond honored to have such a killer drummer learning one of my songs. Not to mention Estepario doing the post. Thank you guys!
Dude you're great!
You the man McGraw, can’t wait to see you guys live again
This is insanely creative work. Now I'm checking out your band. Cheers
Amazing! I’m a professional guitar player that only watches drumming videos because I enjoy seeing the guys That I play with. I really don’t care about guitar stuff. I really enjoyed the video and super appreciate the technique your dedication. I’m forwarding your info to my son right now who is a drummer. Thanks
I’m with Estepario on this one!
Very inspiring.
Amazing stuff.
Huge discipline.
"Drummer by day, spine model by night" 😆
Clean as is a cat's butth0le. 😂
That made me laugh too. I liked "clean as a cat's ass."
“I can’t believe he only has 100000 subscribers”
Promptly garners multiple 100’s of 1000’s of extra followers for him.
Love musicians supporting musicians. Onya mate.
Finally David Diepold is getting the recognition he deserves for soooooooo long!
Guy is a monster on the kit. He deserves every bit of success!
I’ve heard of him for a few years never seen him play! St. Vinnie and Bonom are smiling down!
100% agree
What do you mean finally? 66samus has done a video of him 2years ago, Craig Reynolds did a video of him 3years ago and Andrew Rooney did a video of him 3years ago too and most metal drummers have known bout David for years. He has been a well recognized drummer for a long time among the metal scene just as Derek Roddy ,Pete Sandoval George Kollias, Inferno,Lord Marco, and John Longstreth are well known phenomenal drummers in the metal universe.
Edit. It's just everyday people don't give a fuck really
I was screaming at my monitor when you said it is going to be David Diepold. This guy is the shit. So happy you are aware of him.
David Diepold is easily one of the best metal drummers in the world. Shame the song he is playing isn't getting the recognition it deserves (Dead Set on Suicide by Cattle Decapitation)
Yeah now I'm convinced. That was just not humanly possible
@@Oryyyt I mean it is possible, he played it lol! Also check out Dave McGraw who wrote those drum parts
I think the problem is you need a certain level of drum knowledge to even understand how good it is. Like I play drums a bit, but I had no idea what he was pointing out half the time. I know what the words mean, but my ears and brain can't keep up. I'm busy trying to get my 8th note double bass kicks not to sound like ass, how could I possibly understand the complexity of the gods.
He's playing a cover is probably why it's not more popular.
If it were shame, might wanna add the song name to the comment?
Everyone in Obscura is an absolute master!
Got to see them live twice once with Archspire, another with Inferi. An absolute pleasure
@@D3ck4rd87 I was going to mention Archspire since they're my favorite band
I love David's work with Obscura and Cognizance
Dude! Yes!!! Yeeessss!!!
Dragonforce on a bag of f*ing meth! I'm dying right now 😂😂😂
Paused it right there, hit the like button, and looked for this comment. 😀
I'm no drummer, but I follow you because of your passion for the instrument, the playing, the drummers... And the fact that you share not only your talent and knowledge, but also you make us discover other masters of this magnificent instrument that is the drum... Respect Brother!
Love that hes rocking a Dredg shirt.

COSIGNED!
Catch Without Arms!!!
His POSTURE is amazing
"Drummer by day, spine model by night." Haha!!!!
A bit stiff, but that's understandable ^^
I was sat watching this, hunched over my phone like the old crone I am, and it ruined my morning 😂
Diepold is a Machine, one of my favorite TechDeathMetal drummers.
His cover of the Nile “The inevitable degradation of flesh”and John Longstreth “Saligia” are insane examples of technical drumming, masterclasses.
*where did he cover Origin's Saligia?*
@@FotherMucker00 He's saying John Longstreth's playthrough is nuts. It's on the Meinl channel.
Cognizance is one of his projects and the whole band kicks ass!
11:48 NOT A SINGLE F**KING FLAM! This is the most impressive part of the video. What a machine!
And is there something wrong with flams that I am unaware of?
@@MichaelGrubbEvolvedMinistry no, absolutely not if you want them to be there. But in the mentioned fill, hands and feet are in perfect sync. you don't hear any (unintended) flam and that is a sign of mastery, because at that speed it's very hard to play 'unisono' without having little timing issues, which would cause an unintended flam between feet and hands.
Looks like Sugarfoot's kit.
EDIT: I feel duped! DUPED I TELL YOU!
I thought of sugarfoot, too ^^
Yep. I got hoodwinked also by those hanging cymbals.
Kung fu symbols got me too
Same :/
Funny
Wish there were more people like El Estepario Siberiano.
Yes. And David.
Dude drops lines like a cocaine junkie! Estepario, you are really a poet!! Love your use of language, like its your own exclusive weapon!!
👍🎶🖖
The world would be a much better place....plus he seems like a legit decent human n not smegma lemmings walking round nowadays.
And he wears a Dredg tshirt!!! Named my shop after one of their albums!!! Will check him out for sure
Yes!
Of the amazing Parrot album, if I'm not mistaken!
Excellent video. The posture he has touching everything is what, in my personal opinion, has helped him do such an excellent job. The cuts in the Crash cymbal are masterful. The stops he makes and then continue with the blast beat are on another level. The most amazing thing about the video is how happy and relaxed he is in carrying out this great job.👊🤙🥁🤙👊
Can’t wait to hear more from THE COST!
Yesssssss
Oh yup.
You should see a video from Dan Presland. He was the drummer for Ne Obliviscaris. Check out the studio drumcam for “ And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope”. This guy is insane
Soz, its boring af :'S
NeO are my favorite band in the world by a LONG shot, and I've met Dan several times, but with respect to his talent, he is nowhere *near* this level.
He's one of my favourites.
Only criticism I see is that live (with Obscura) his snare is drowning while blasting because the sound guy has to level it to rimshots.
Apart from that, he's technically perfect. Doesn't get any better than that.
You're are a f*cking legend mate! Thanks for bringing attention to this amazing drummer. His economy of movement while playing this insane sh*t is crazy!
This guy is amazing. Also love his shirt! DREDG! They also have an amazing drummer. Watched him live several times.
Been watching David's videos for years. He's beyond incredible!
Holy shit I know about Diepold. He was doing straight blasts with his fingers without breaking a sweat, & he had to switch to push pull because of injuries from so much practice for upkeep, & also time & life getting in the way. Of course push pull takes a long time to develop at that speed, but it seems like the most long term least stressful technique for blasting. You should also check out the psycho from Ophidian I. I can't remember his name, but he looks like his push pull is some sort of laser precision science experiment.
Man, keep shouting out these badass drummers...that man there deserves the subs, and views. Oh, like many have asked...I'll ask again, when is your band's next track?
Waiting for your band's next single
These are hands down the videos I look forward to the most!!!! Holy shit I need a full network series of these!!!
Man, I love your reviews. I’ve known about David for a while since he’s been with Obscura. Great video!
David is indeed an amazing drummer!! thanks for this video!! cheers from a fellow austrian!
OMG thank you for shouting this guy out. Been following him for ages and not understand why he doesn't get more praise. He is amazing! (btw, the link to his channel in your description doesn't seem to work for me)
I have a lot of David Diepold's drum playthroughs and covers downloaded onto my phone. Long 12+ hour flights on a C-130, I would watch these over and over again. It is so awesome to see you reacting to this in a similar way! Bro is inspiring with how little attention he has received for years but how godly his skills are.
Watching David is Always mind-blowing!
the key to unlocking any instrument is mastering your biomechanics with said instrument. this guys has it down to a science
Really shows how important personality is to being successful online. You’re a great drummer but your personality is what drives this channel! Thanks for the great vids
The bit around 7 minutes is amazing. I love it! Considering its only a single petal, it's outstanding!! Thank you for introducing me to this person/band.
I don't think I've ever seen seen so much speed & technique with virtually no (apparent) effort! So smooth & controlled! Thank you sharing!
Ha! Knowing & following David some time, that man is a BEAST.
Fuck the censure! Ur videos are fucking awsome!
Thank U! 🤘
"I'm going to play that again, fuck everyone!"
This IS the best reaction you have done. Love these!
His play through of Kingborn is phenomenal. Been watching David for over 7 years now - he is amazing
"You need Parkinson's to play that!" 🤦🤘🤣 At least we all know if the drumming gig doesn't pan out Jorge has a promising career as a comedian lined up LOL. "A 4 year old is playing that on Got Talent but he didn't get to the finals because someone was playing a didgeridoo." Legendary as always LMFAO
Jungle truck... like a glove. Try harder, silly. LOL.
Tight and clean like a cats ass. Lol
😂
Daves a monster, been watching his channel for years now. guy can crush anything you toss at him
Amazing. Thank you for introducing me to this guy
I love Cattle decapitation. Saw them live several years ago and they were fucking amazing. I never would’ve guessed that they were your favorite band ever though
Just absolute conservation of energy and mechanics 😮
That is the craziest thing I've ever watched. Damn
Go to David's channel and check out his Kingborn cover. It's a thing of beauty
Your drumming is amazing and it's great to see you so excited about another drummer. Love this shit!
Have you ever seen Nick Yacyshyn's drum cam from Baptist live at Rain City? It's one of the most impressive drum performance that I've ever seen, not just the execution, but the joy that he shows while playing is just the best, when I need to lift me up I watch that drum cam, lol
I discovered him a little while before he joined Obscura. He is a machine. I love how he does single foot blasts as if he just is telling every drummmer "don't be a pussy"
I've been watching David for a long time and I'm not even a drummer. He's awesome!! Glad you reacted to him!
Man this guy's double kick is like a MG-42 German machine gun, witch has the highest fire rate of any machine gun!! But the link says this channel is unavailable??!! But boy ow boy those feet are the fastest feet lve Ever Seen!! Absolutely Amazing!!!! Just perfect in Every way!! I can only dream of playing like either of these 2 drummers, both are OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!
Been listening to David for years..awesome drummer
Oh no, censored? The end of an era. 😥
Ahora toca tú ese cover!!!! (lo mejor que puedas) me gustaría ver eso. Saludos desde Monterrey México!🤘
I am so happy that you made a video about David, he was and he is one of my favourite drummers ever hands down!
Hey man, I'm just here to appreciate how much you leveled up your look on your videos, your drumming was always top class, but by now your videos got such a great look it's amazing. Cheers from Austria man!
Gracias para poner la subtitulo en espanol
Obscura picked him up for a reason
Between the crazy fretless guitar and Diepolds insane drumming might be the most talented metal band ever. Not necessarily my favorite but you gotta respect the talent.
Mind you First Fragment is probably more talented. If you can even compare at that level. But their bassist is the best to ever do it par none.
@@6ic6ic6ic I agree!
Been watching David for years. Dude is a fvkin monster. His Nile covers are insane. Also, Obscura... What a band.
Fuck yeah! I watch David’s vids all the time. His play throughs of Aeon Sickness and Devine Impediment are sick.
And now you know how we feel watching you. thanks and keep it up. Release The Cost album soon please.
David is my favorite drummer.
This is an old ass video.
Great video!! David Diepold HYMNS is also awesome!! Amazing push/pull technique, cymbal use, tom use, consistent kick speed AND GROOVE. One of my favs.
I remember watching this years ago back in high school as a guitarist and it inspiring me to start playing drums as well
Estrepario Siberiano happy to see you getting more into the underground extreme metal drummers.
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Would love your thoughts on Ian Paice who is my freaking childhood hero
I've been watching David for years, he is a complete animal.... absolutely amazing....thank you for bringing him to the masses
David easily ripping through Dave Weckl's "Tiempo de Fesitval"(!) made me almost cry. A showcase in dynamics and tightness. It truely shows how good David really is.
Love his Dredg shirt! Killer band, Dino is an amazing drummer!
I f’n agree!! This dude is bad ASS!!
David got me into cattle decap and septic flesh with his cover videos. Love this dude
DUDE finally! ive been watching this guy for years. super underrated
agree, this guy does not get all the recognition he deserves. Fucking beast of a drummer.
As a side note, with due respect, his last name is Diepold, so your intro has a typo (you wrote Diapold.)
You’re my favorite person, favorite drummer, and writer! When you give respect to someone in this way, I know I’m in for a treat. And holy chit i was not disappointed. Thank you for introducing me to David, thanks for all you do for us, and congrats on your drumeo courses!
David seriously is one of the best modern extreme metal drummers on the planet. Stoked you're doing a shout out to him!
Been a subscriber to Diepold for many years. He blew me away with the first video I saw. Thank you for showcasing him!
David Diepold is not just an amazing drummer but he's also an extremely humble and all round nice guy. I had the pleasure to work with him on 2 songs for my solo project and 2 songs with my band and it was like a dream come true. Been watching his videos for years. Also got to meet him in person and watch him fill in for Benighted on the drums at Brutal Assault in 2015. What an absolute LEGEND!
Kevin Paradis is another guy that absolutely destroys everyone else but is fairly unknown on social media. He does things I've never seen anyone else do on the drums. Incredible player 🥁🤘
True, Kevin is a beast. Ken bedene as well.
Lol the snare straw blast.
I remember seeing Davids ' fleshgod apocalypse kingdrom' cover 10 years ago and I just dropped my jaws seeing the one foot swivel at that time! I' m happy someone like you gives him credit!!
I've been watching this guy's vids for a couple years now. Always blows my fuckin mind!!
yes, been following david for a time now, plays for obscura and fillling for sebastian lanser after his departure is a huge thing, also his band cognizance is super tight. saludos estepario
Try checking out Kevin Paradis, Lord Marco and or Wanja Gröger! They are some of the best extreme metal drummers i know besides David hahahaha cheers thanks for the great content!
Saw this video a long time ago, this dude blasts, great video as always, though lokos like the link to his channel 404s for me.
Been watching him for quite some time. He's incredible!! Effortless!! So clean!! Love your channel dude!
Diepold is just the best drummer I’ve seen. It is so clean and precise. Absolutely beautiful playing style
You're very humble, my friend. I am sure you can play this song. That said, This guy certainly deserves millions of views for sure! Cheers
Been watching David for years, my all time favorite and I'm glad you are giving him some love! He has a cult following and is just on another level for sure.
dude your doing such a cool thing to bring attention to extreme metal drummers! Kevin Paradis and Ken Bedene are up there with David! Awesome!
Cattle decapitation is my favorite too! 💪🏻💯
Id love to see you check out or speak about Baard Kolstad of Leprous. My absolute favourite drummer 🤘🖤
Yupp. He is amazing.
❤🤘
Bye the way Leprous is releasing a new album this summer.
@@rolfjamne8922 yep!! Cant wait!
Unreal! love the way you describe his playing! 😊
This shit is crazy 2 of the very best drummers in one video 👌
I havé followed david since the start
Wonderful
Not bad, I was there when he was born. Now what?
@@pooperdave 😂
High cymbals ready for the bat-move... hmmm... I gotta suspect...
Well I was wrong... Sugarfoot was my first pick.
Based solely on the position of his cymbals and his arms, my initial thought was Sugarfoot... But I gave it some thought, and figured Sugarfoot isn't exactly the best candidate for "most underrated" -- he's had a very successful professional career and is widely respected by his peers and cohorts for his mastery of drumming fundamentals combined with his inimitable, signature energy and flair. I then probably spent no more than another six or seven seconds going through my admittedly dusty and chewed up mental Rolodex before resigning to the fact that I probably had no idea who this mystery drummer was. So I clicked, and was thus introduced to someone I had previously never heard of, and, well, yeah... This dude is impressive. Ambidextrous, gorgeous balance of precision, speed and power, a creative impulse that helps him differentiate and distinguish his playing style in a field otherwise littered with drummers who seemingly strive to sound like each other (that might be more of a dig at metal than at the individual drummers, but they play a part in it too), and a clear understanding of the inherent value of dynamics and how to leverage subtle variation to make the most of every note/phrase/etc..
@@WordToMomsYo You're totally right with the "most underrated" thing. I didn't thought about it. Great drummer though.
Alex Bent (trivium) is another underrated drummer, you should see the video of him playing thrown into the fire
To be honest; being a metalhead for more than 40 years now, always dissecting this often extremely complex and technical music, I stumbled into watching David’s play throughs -love them!!- and finally landed at your channel 😆 and…just guessing, but…I won’t be the only one, so you surely have to be greatful to guys like him 😌 BUT… you are the only one who leads us through them with seriously good dressed up comments and a good dose of humor. Keep it up man, love your channel!! 🤘🏻
Love the Dredg shirt! Such an underrated band.
