Amazing! I’m a professional guitar player that only watches drumming videos because I enjoy seeing the guys That I play with. I really don’t care about guitar stuff. I really enjoyed the video and super appreciate the technique your dedication. I’m forwarding your info to my son right now who is a drummer. Thanks

I'm no drummer, but I follow you because of your passion for the instrument, the playing, the drummers... And the fact that you share not only your talent and knowledge, but also you make us discover other masters of this magnificent instrument that is the drum... Respect Brother!
Diepold is a Machine, one of my favorite TechDeathMetal drummers. His cover of the Nile “The inevitable degradation of flesh”and John Longstreth “Saligia” are insane examples of technical drumming, masterclasses.
David Diepold is easily one of the best metal drummers in the world. Shame the song he is playing isn't getting the recognition it deserves (Dead Set on Suicide by Cattle Decapitation)
I think the problem is you need a certain level of drum knowledge to even understand how good it is. Like I play drums a bit, but I had no idea what he was pointing out half the time. I know what the words mean, but my ears and brain can't keep up. I'm busy trying to get my 8th note double bass kicks not to sound like ass, how could I possibly understand the complexity of the gods.
What do you mean finally? 66samus has done a video of him 2years ago, Craig Reynolds did a video of him 3years ago and Andrew Rooney did a video of him 3years ago too and most metal drummers have known bout David for years. He has been a well recognized drummer for a long time among the metal scene just as Derek Roddy ,Pete Sandoval George Kollias, Inferno,Lord Marco, and John Longstreth are well known phenomenal drummers in the metal universe. Edit. It's just everyday people don't give a fuck really
David Diepold is not just an amazing drummer but he's also an extremely humble and all round nice guy. I had the pleasure to work with him on 2 songs for my solo project and 2 songs with my band and it was like a dream come true. Been watching his videos for years. Also got to meet him in person and watch him fill in for Benighted on the drums at Brutal Assault in 2015. What an absolute LEGEND!
@@MichaelGrubbEvolvedMinistry no, absolutely not if you want them to be there. But in the mentioned fill, hands and feet are in perfect sync. you don't hear any (unintended) flam and that is a sign of mastery, because at that speed it's very hard to play 'unisono' without having little timing issues, which would cause an unintended flam between feet and hands.
I have a lot of David Diepold's drum playthroughs and covers downloaded onto my phone. Long 12+ hour flights on a C-130, I would watch these over and over again. It is so awesome to see you reacting to this in a similar way! Bro is inspiring with how little attention he has received for years but how godly his skills are.
He's one of my favourites. Only criticism I see is that live (with Obscura) his snare is drowning while blasting because the sound guy has to level it to rimshots. Apart from that, he's technically perfect. Doesn't get any better than that.
Maaaaan I didn't even know he was playing with Obscura. Not that surprising thinking about it. I only knew about Hannes Grossmann but didn't keep up after he left.
You should see a video from Dan Presland. He was the drummer for Ne Obliviscaris. Check out the studio drumcam for “ And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope”. This guy is insane
Dan Presland sounds like an actual drummer. This guy in this video is soon to join Lord Marko on a list of drummers getting exposed. Take away this man's triggers, samples, and electronics, and let's see what he is made of - 100% not impressed in the least with this man. Mr. Presland, on the other hand, is looking at a much brighter future than this subject. Sure, he may, or may not, use triggers on his kicks, but it becomes quickly apparent that he doesn't need them. This guy though, if he was to play an unmiked set, his weaknesses would quickly get exposed.
Holy shit I know about Diepold. He was doing straight blasts with his fingers without breaking a sweat, & he had to switch to push pull because of injuries from so much practice for upkeep, & also time & life getting in the way. Of course push pull takes a long time to develop at that speed, but it seems like the most long term least stressful technique for blasting. You should also check out the psycho from Ophidian I. I can't remember his name, but he looks like his push pull is some sort of laser precision science experiment.
Excellent video. The posture he has touching everything is what, in my personal opinion, has helped him do such an excellent job. The cuts in the Crash cymbal are masterful. The stops he makes and then continue with the blast beat are on another level. The most amazing thing about the video is how happy and relaxed he is in carrying out this great job.👊🤙🥁🤙👊
yes, been following david for a time now, plays for obscura and fillling for sebastian lanser after his departure is a huge thing, also his band cognizance is super tight. saludos estepario
Been watching David for years, my all time favorite and I'm glad you are giving him some love! He has a cult following and is just on another level for sure.
You're are a f*cking legend mate! Thanks for bringing attention to this amazing drummer. His economy of movement while playing this insane sh*t is crazy!
Really shows how important personality is to being successful online. You’re a great drummer but your personality is what drives this channel! Thanks for the great vids
Have you ever seen Nick Yacyshyn's drum cam from Baptist live at Rain City? It's one of the most impressive drum performance that I've ever seen, not just the execution, but the joy that he shows while playing is just the best, when I need to lift me up I watch that drum cam, lol
I just recommended someone on another channel who watched Spencer Prewett Lucid Collective's playthrough to watch this. I discovered Cattle around 2013 and I've been showing this to a lot of my friends in the last 10 years. And just realised it actually came out 10 years ago. The switching always amazed me, as it seems to amaze you too. Glad you know about it and are showing it on your channel.
I am from Austria, too. The first time I saw one of his videos was probably back in 2014 and I was totally blown away by this guy! His technique, stamina and controls are insane! He is an absolute beast and thank you for presenting him to a bigger crowd! Keep going, man!

Dude plays the drums like he was built to play them and he disappears for a few months only to come back impossibly better. His new stuff is mind blowing.
David easily ripping through Dave Weckl's "Tiempo de Fesitval"(!) made me almost cry. A showcase in dynamics and tightness. It truely shows how good David really is.
Try checking out Kevin Paradis, Lord Marco and or Wanja Gröger! They are some of the best extreme metal drummers i know besides David hahahaha cheers thanks for the great content!
I remember seeing Davids ' fleshgod apocalypse kingdrom' cover 10 years ago and I just dropped my jaws seeing the one foot swivel at that time! I' m happy someone like you gives him credit!!

That is worth no amount of money keep up the good one and thank you for your time and effort and expertise in the drummers world.
I discovered him a little while before he joined Obscura. He is a machine. I love how he does single foot blasts as if he just is telling every drummmer "don't be a pussy"
Hey man, I'm just here to appreciate how much you leveled up your look on your videos, your drumming was always top class, but by now your videos got such a great look it's amazing. Cheers from Austria man!

To be honest; being a metalhead for more than 40 years now, always dissecting this often extremely complex and technical music, I stumbled into watching David’s play throughs -love them!!- and finally landed at your channel 😆 and…just guessing, but…I won’t be the only one, so you surely have to be greatful to guys like him 😌 BUT… you are the only one who leads us through them with seriously good dressed up comments and a good dose of humor. Keep it up man, love your channel!! 🤘🏻
Based solely on the position of his cymbals and his arms, my initial thought was Sugarfoot... But I gave it some thought, and figured Sugarfoot isn't exactly the best candidate for "most underrated" -- he's had a very successful professional career and is widely respected by his peers and cohorts for his mastery of drumming fundamentals combined with his inimitable, signature energy and flair. I then probably spent no more than another six or seven seconds going through my admittedly dusty and chewed up mental Rolodex before resigning to the fact that I probably had no idea who this mystery drummer was. So I clicked, and was thus introduced to someone I had previously never heard of, and, well, yeah... This dude is impressive. Ambidextrous, gorgeous balance of precision, speed and power, a creative impulse that helps him differentiate and distinguish his playing style in a field otherwise littered with drummers who seemingly strive to sound like each other (that might be more of a dig at metal than at the individual drummers, but they play a part in it too), and a clear understanding of the inherent value of dynamics and how to leverage subtle variation to make the most of every note/phrase/etc..
"You need Parkinson's to play that."..."As clean as a cats ass." ..."Drummer by day...spine model by night." EES should right a book with all his little sayings. They really kill it! First saw David years ago....definitely agree...one of the best there is.

@@WordToMomsYo You're totally right with the "most underrated" thing. I didn't thought about it. Great drummer though.
I would include James Stewart from Decapitated to the list of underrated drummers.
Been watching him for quite some time. He's incredible!! Effortless!! So clean!! Love your channel dude!
Love dave been following him for couple yrs now hes awesome
"You need Parkinson's to play that."..."As clean as a cats ass." ..."Drummer by day...spine model by night." EES should right a book with all his little sayings. They really kill it! First saw David years ago....definitely agree...one of the best there is.
