Hi Rob and Crissie I think I told you. I had a 48 year age gap and we were together 10 years and 2 months. We never had a fight or argument it was a beautiful relación ship .then when she was 33 years old she just lay down on the floor and died . She was never sick it was a brain tumor .that broke my heart its been 2 years now and I haven't dated since she died. I live on top of a mountain with beautiful views . The moral of the store is age dont matter. You guys enjoy your life. Ps all my family and friends turn against me for the age gap .take care and I love your chats 👍

I am so sorry for your loss. What a wonderful relationship you had, and you have so many beautiful memories. I was luckier on the acceptance issue. There were several family members, and my kids were all highly concerned, and most everyone else was a bit concerned about our 18-year age gap, but all of them came around fairly quickly as we live here in the States with my family nearby.

I know what it's like to be a widower. I was stationed in the Army at 25, 1st marriage, we're were in Germany when she got cancer & she was gone in 2 weeks when I brought her over from the states.

Different culture, different possibilities. If she loves him and truly wants to be with him, and the parents agree, it is the beginning of a wonderful love story and life together. Western relatives and friends are irrelevant IF he intends to RETIRE and make a new life in terms of Philippines. Bringing her back to America would be a disaster in every conceivable way. The only other reason why this would be WRONG is if he is not able to give her children, which is not the case.
My uncle married an 18 year old he was 58. They are still married 26 years later. He is on oxygen and mostly immobile but she has been so dedicated to him and it is true love. They never had any children together.

Personally, I think it's great that they both found each other. Not only is their relationship consensual, but it sounds like her family accepts him. This is all that is important. Since when do any of us allow strangers to decide who is right for us to marry? This is a personal decision. As long as no laws are broken, there is no wrongdoing. you're exactly right. In the Philippines, age gap relations are very common. It's an accepted part of the culture. Westerners get weird ideas that they have to criticize these relationships, as if their Western hangups are somehow still valid in the Philippines. It makes about as much sense as wearing a heavy winter coat in Manila, because they grew up in North Dakota.
Why should she be too young? During most time of human history girls usually married a lot younger like at age 13 or 14. Big age differences were also nothing uncommon until feminism took over.

Americans can’t understand that Filipinos have an entirely different perspective. Older, more mature, stable, loyal men are very appealing to many of them.
Of course financial stability is important. It’s no different than the stability an American girl seeks other than in the Philippines $2500 per month provides stability where in the US it would require $10,000 to provide a similar lifestyle.
Then compare the character of the average Filipina to a western woman…… Filipinas are on an entirely different level.

In Shanghai, I went to a bar- talking a lot to the younger waitress ( i was 40). Went to a KTV with her after work and sang in a private room. Next day she text me to meet her at an address at about 400pm. It was at a school. She came out and I asked and she told me 18 years old. She asked me why i like her- she was pretty, tall and spoke english well. We both took a taxi to a spa and both went to get a massage in a room together. They locked the door for the massage. She told me her mother is coming to meet me. After 10 min, I hear a knock and she asked me to open the door to meet her. I opened the door and her mother was beautiful and our eyes locked on each other for 10 seconds but seemed like 1 minute, frozen and both smiling. For the rest of the massage we could not stop looking at each other- she spoke no English. I realized I wanted the mom who is near my age. I knew no good would happen and I stopped seeing the daughter.

It seems that shame is used to discourage men from large age gap relationships. Chrissy said that since the Florida man took the girls virginity then he should marry her. That is a traditional view that is seldom practiced today, but it is still in the minds of people. On the flip side if a girl is 25 years old and has had previous relationships does that mean the Florida man is under no obligation to marry? All this is rather vague and has many moving parts to consider. In my opinion shared life goals trumps age, if both people want the same thing then the relationship can work even with a large age gap.

Hahaha great story. I have to say when I met my Filipinas family it wasn’t at the airport, it was at 9:30 at night sitting at their kitchen table. Although I was very well fed, It was in my opinion the 2024 version of the Spanish inquisition . Lots of tough questions and lots of very well thought out answers. On a sidenote, while sitting at the kitchen table, a rat crawled up the wall behind her father 😬 and disappeared out the window, God is my witness ✋.

If two people can find a way to love each other and be happy in this crazy world, espciially in a time of such high rates of depression and suicide in the west, we should really applaud them and be happy for them!!! Dear Chrissy and Rob - Definitely an international topic. Personally, I have never been focused on age, but rather on maturity and behavior. Many younger women today are far more sophisticated and clear-sighted than when I was young, although their life experience has not always followed. Only one big problem is the 18 year old will mature into a different woman at 32, 35, etc. No I am not talking about the filipina becoming westernized, just that I have talked to several who found out this to be true when she moved out.

My wife came from Philippines to europe with 3 month visit visa, she was 20 years old when we got married here, in our law there is no reason to ask from parents, 20 is old enough to marry if she wants to. Also when got married here, she got instant 1 year extension to her visa.
As soon as we told we have intent to marry, she got the 1 year extension to her visa, then have time to plan the wedding.

The movie Casablanca starred Ingrid Bergman, not Lauren Bacall. Bogie and Bacall made some fantastic films together, my favorites being "Dark Passage" and "Key Largo". Still love those black and white film noir movies! As far as the guy nailing the 18 year old, I say good for them. Not really what I'd have ideally in mind for myself, but to each their own.

The women have 7 stories to peruse and purchase. The only catch is that you go up, wut you can never go back down. Most end up going floor to floor, handsome in first, handsome and kind in the second, handsome kind and good pension on third… finally they end up in the last floor and there are no men. Always wanting more they ended up with none.
Across the street is the shopping center for single men. Beautiful women on first. Beautiful women who like beer on the second. There are no other floors because the shopper usually buys on the first.

Another great video, thanks Rob & Chrissy! I don't think any relationship is a one size fits all thing. The age gap relationships work as long as both people are realistic about it. I like Chrissys outlook that, at her younger age, she wasn't mature enough to consider a much older man. That would be my concern about dating a much younger woman... but, again, maturity levels should probably be equal. For me, at 68, I wouldn't consider a girl below 20, or even 30. My target age was above 30, and my ldr is 34, who already has a 14 y.o. child. This was very attractive to me, because I have no desire to raise a young child. I wanted a girl that could 'retire' with me and have fun and live life.

He took advantage of the situation because they believed that he was there because he was serious - not shopping, or doing the sex-pat thing. He should have known better...did he really think that it was going to work with an 18 year old? He broke her heart and let her family down. The fact that he took her virginity was a signal to her that he was going to marry her. He shouldn't have done it unless they were planning to marry... which of course he wasn't.

Act with honesty and integrity....that means don't take advantage of vulnerable people. The Philippines is a conservative country, and the "hook-up" culture doesn't exist in the same way as in Western countries. The fact that the family trusted him with their daughter shows that they respected him and thought that he had good intentions as an honourable foreigner. BTW - I've spent a lot of time in Palawan and know Port Barton well. People like him give foreigners a bad name.

Should be inquired in early datimg stage, to prove she is of correct age and not allready married.
It can have detrimental consequenves if she is allready married (and her husband decides to blackmail for money), or if she is under 16 years old... then can become jailtime.
(If american, then the sexual age limit is 18 year in the ph. So if dates+ a 17,x year old in the ph... it can get very messy very soon if anyone complains).

It has updated information about that person age, civilstatus (marriage, single, etc), etc.
Its public record, so you can contact the gov agemcy to extract her public revord.
Or easier would be to get her to show you;)
So that is yoir 1st line of "defence" against married people and against undrragr women.

Of you involve yourself with a married woman... the legal spouse could file a case against her and you. Leading to hefty fines and even jailtime.

Rob, someone gave you incomplete information, same as I was told. Age of 12 not true to adults over 18. I later learned it refers to other minors who can have sex with a girl when she reaches 12. Balance of what you said appears correct. A lawyer who is a guest on a very successful respectful channel explained the real laws and history in the Philippines. Minors in public seen by the public can report a minor who seen with adult male. Charges by police can occur just being together! Lawyer on other channel explained when police will allow minor to be adult male. It is very protective laws which can seem draconian actually to immigrants. There is no way adults can have sex with 12 year old in the Philippines without parents' consent legally.

@FlyMeToThePhilippines Just like we all face risk of arrest while dating a married woman in Philippines, we also can face danger of arrest just for walking down the street with a minor alone who may be just be a daughter of our girlfriend. A good cop quickly should sort out no issues or problem exists, but often hours at police station after arrest on the street occurs they secure enough information to suggest or prove you innocent. The law has the best intentions obviously to protect children, but often jealous persons can use it to create stress for immigrants dating a filipina.

The age gap is not really the concerning part here. The most disturbing thing is the lack of respect to an 18 year old's virginity. To go to a foreign country and take a recently turned 18 year old's virginity while meeting her conservative family needs to be handled with more respect. Going to sleep with 2 other women only days later , because you will be bored, while she has to go to high school during the day is not showing respect to the woman at all. Especially as it is insinuated that he was not truthful about what he was doing. Taking an 18 yr old's virginity and then being deceptive about where you are going and what you are doing days later. Anytime half truths or lack of full honesty is used in the beginning of a relationship , it sets up a fragile foundation to a long term one. If one is not honest and open in their intention, and actions, especially with an 18 year who does not have the experience to be aware of these things is very disheartening to hear. I wish them both the best and happiness but I feel the situation should have been handled with more respect to the woman and her family. I am pretty confident the family nor the woman would have given up her virginity to someone knowing they had plans or possibility on visiting and sleeping with 2 more women within the next couple days or weeks.

I'm 65 and I don't think I could bring myself to touch an 18 year old. Not because of lack of attraction, but because it just wouldn't feel right for me. I say that without judging people who would bite the apple but such a girl could be my grand daughter. I would feel like I were depriving her of her youth.
