My Filipina wife and I just started watching your videos recently. It is very rare to find vloggers like yourself that speak so well and intelligently. I met my wife in the Philippines in 2007 and we have been happily married and living in Canada for the past decade. There is a 24-year age difference between us. All the best to you!
@TheWatcher111 Clearly, reading was not your strong point in school. I never said he was discussing topics that have never been dealt with before on TH-cam. I said he and his wife speak very well and intelligently. Perhaps a refresher course in reading might do you some good.
Always great to hear success stories like yours. The vid was mostly common sense but with a few cultural emphasis. Useful reminders at the very least and explanations important.
I first dated an Australian Philippina who was a widow. She was really just looking for me to provide financial help, and let me down. However I met some nice Philippino friends who introduced me to my now wife. So it worked out beautifully for me. We became Facebook friends for a year during Covid, and when restrictions were lifted I went to Cebu and met my darling. That was 2 and a half years ago. Wen I first started dating my finpno girlfriend I was not very comfortable person but she said you are very comfortable person she put me on top of the world and she is my whole world and we are still madly in love with each other and we been 2gether now for 10 years
Leading with money is so tempting, it is easy to do and generally gets a positive reaction. I've made that mistake and will never do it again. Your site is a treasure trove of sound advice.
I have a gold medal in mistake making, having travelled to Asia many times i have found the new and old mistakes i make are less costly financially and emotionally, my main advice would be to take your time slow down and enjoy
Exactly. When you hurry, you put yourself at a lower level and the other side can feel she deserves better. It is a game actually. Financially stable is a must. You don't need to show off but having money will give you confidence and many time giving you an upper hand.

When a man has lived in the West and been forced to deal with the toxicity of women there, the first thing he has to do is mentally leave all the old ways of relationships at the airport. Take at least six months, or even a year, and date as many women as possible for a while. This is the time to try a 20, 25, 30 year old and use these experiences as the learning curve we all need. Learn what tricks she will try and recognize what reasonable expectations are. One of the most powerful words is No! Once he knows what to avoid, he can begin recognizing who the quality women are. It is a process that requires patience. Women will always be around and if she does not meet all the priorities he expects, move on.
Dude! I’m here now since Friday. It’s Tuesday now and already 4 different girls have woke up next to me in my condo I rented. The oldest was 26. Youngest was 19, the girl I met yesterday and woke up with. They seem to fall hard and fast with regard to love. I agree completely that as any healthy man will also say is best is to get all that one night stuff out of the way first. Get it out of your system and unload your weapon completely before allowing any deeper connection than physical. I see a lot of older guys that likely haven’t ever touched girls this pretty and would be easy to lose your mind. Thankfully I’m a very in shape, good looking guy so I’ve never been starved for attention. But I can say with confidence and certainty that here it is 100X on being able to date, and have as many FWB’s as you’d like. Unload the clip for a while and sample the platter first before anything
Politics, money and religion are polarizing subjects that often lead to conflict with those around you that do not share your opinions and vice-versa. Why ruin family relations and/or friendships over (often inconsequential) subjects that don’t usually have any more direct bearing on casual relationships than you allow them to have. I have a friend who has excommunicated his entire family simply because they share different political beliefs - then he acts like Mr. Lonely around every holiday that they used to get together as a family. It’s so ridiculous - especially since it’s all due to himself (his family doesn’t care that he thinks differently from them - but he says he can’t respect them anymore! He is essentially a hermit at this point; a waste of life. It so happens that my political and religious beliefs align with his - but not with my family either, but I simply choose not to discuss religion/politics with them and I enjoy having relationships with my family.
I totally agree with you however, I find that sometimes family members will ambush you and put a stain on family, get together by violating the rule of talking politics
I agree I hate politics and am apolitical...I was in the US Navy on an aircraft carrier USS Midway CV=41 for the first half of my career and then stationed in Exmouth Australia my send half....so I was in the Phillipines several times during the course of my career....Subic Bay, Olongapo during the 70's back when the country was under martial law and Marcos was in power.....yes I know his son is in power now....=magsaysay drive iin Olongapo was not even paved back then....lol
Excellent conversation. Chrissy gives very good insight into how most women think. Men are lead by attraction and when we are attracted to something we rush in to fast. I know this and I have to always fight that urge. Attractive women are approached all the time so they are wary of most men. Women do still value security so presenting yourself as a stable individual both mentally, physically and financially will be a plus although leading with your wallet will be a mistake. A women will be able to figure out quickly if you are financially stable in the Philippines. Most think you are just by being a foreigner and having the ability to travel to the Philippines. Maybe the best discussion I've seen on this topic.
I was married for 32 years I'm retired and widower one thing we had was she was my best friend we had the most important thing in relationship and beening honest with each other and communicating give and take
Sam, I’m sorry for your loss but it sounds like you had a fantastic relationship and I hope you can find something that can make you happy going forward
Another great video, thanks, Rob and Chrissy! Oh man, I'm making a LOT of the mistakes concerning LDRs, that you're talking about, I trust too much, and am generous to a fault, but, I'm learning. I think the best plan is to just go there, check out the place, find out where I want to land, THEN start looking for a woman. With the temps right now being around 100 degrees, places like Baguio look really attractive.
Thank you for another great video. I am learning more each day about the Philippians culture so I can be prepared. I also am watching all of your video that help me get perpared as well. I thank you for your hard work with these great videos. I agree with one of the comments does Chrissy have a twin. I know that will make you smile Rob with everyone so impressed with her. Wishing both of you the best of luck.
Dear Chrissy and Rob - another interesting topic and open and honest analysis. I'm sorry if I now become the candle-extinguisher, but your analysis applies to most of the world, both around the women and the men. Nice to see Chrissy back in front of the camera.-) Best regards from Denmark.😎
I agree very much with your assessment of this situation. There is a need to balance the fact that she knows more than I about the local culture and traditions. We need to ask for advise sometimes and we need to balance our character and "power" with the ignorance of these factors.
This was good wholesome talk I enjoyed this one a lot. Touching on more of a human side and not about the transactional side that so many talk about. Guys in Dumaguete brag about their money... and most of them don't really have much. It's so stupid.
Too many guys not bringing much to the table in the first place and expecting top quality women. Looks like you brought something more than the average expat and has received in kind.
That is so true. While age, and maybe even the size of your waist isn't important to the same degree as in the West, Filipinas are still looking for men who tell the truth, have integrity, have family values, and won't be abusive, physically or otherwise. Just as most Western guys find many women in our home countries to be somewhat to very bitter by middle age a Filipina probably isn't going to find you attractive if you are constantly complaining about your ex, your home country, or how unorganized things are in the Philippines. Be worthy of her!
@@Learning.NaturallyA modern Filipina with value know their worth, that’s no different than the west..the difference is the values the Filipina brings to the table. Generally conservative and family oriented.
Very good advice...as one who is in an age gap relationship and who was married to a Filipina for almost nine years I can truly say pretty much all your advice is sound. Confidence yes...my buddy...more like a brother got back from the Philippines just before Christmas...my advice when be was there..."remember...you are the prize"...Filipinas aren't generally shallow...your looks aren't really that important. Past that, understanding Filipino culture and clearly setting expectations with your Filipina and her family will save you a whole host of headaches and either bring the two of you closer or end the relationship...either way, you win! It's nice that you have the interactions of a mentor relationship yet Chrissie has the maturity to bring great Filipina insight to the mix. I'd love to meet you two when I get down to CDO...with my Filipina, of course and just sit down and share stories...I think I have a bit to share since I was married so long to a Filipina I brought to the U.S. on a K-1 Visa and the struggles that ensued by not having a clear understanding of her culture.😮
@@kevinacker9843 Just curious...how is she an OFW? For me, nine years of being at the very bottom of her priority list was all I could deal with. Still care about her but enough is enough!
I am retired US military. I cant wait to engulf my self in the Philippine culture and family dynamic when I move there in 9 months. Thank you for the great video.
More good guidance. Something brought up a question: Re: Bringing a friend to lunch or dinner - I would be comfortable with a mom or sister, but a cousin or ? Could you expand on this situation?
Ran into a woman on Skype. She said all the right things and it was a bit weird. So I tested her and then suddenly on the second day she asked for money...now she is not on my Skype anymore and is blocked. It is thanks to channels like this that I learned to avoid my ego being played against me. Thank you.
This was such an informative and helpful video interview….i truly appreciate the honesty and openness from you both. I live in Texas and I’m tired of the feminist mindset in the USA 🇺🇸 so I really feel like a Filipina would be a much better choice of partner for me. I have a lot to offer and I would treat my Filipina with love and respect so I believe we would have a beautiful relationship! Thank you 🙏 I’m going to watch all your videos! 😂❤
Fly me to the Philippines Your content is excellent I really enjoyed the conversation that you had today. I was talking to this Filipino girl. Of course, online we will talking about 8 months and then she started talking about money and it just ruined the whole relationship. I told all my. On my profile, I put it in the screamer up there did not talk about money.I don't talk about money on my profile. And if somebody says anything about money I just erase Them As we know, our relationship should be built on trust. Should be built on trust get to know somebody and trying to get the note. In very well, a lot of communication, especially if you're living in the United States and she's living in the Philippines. A lot of communications, very important building at trust. Just talking about basic stuff. And I don't know any other culture. Respecting each other's culture. Just asking about just normal stuff. Shouldn't be about money not really on. Thank you so much for all your and I will see you guys next time. On the next video, My name is Cedric Nash. I'm gonna number one fan
Always downplay your financial situation! Even if you have loads of money in the bank, just tell her that you are on a pension. Let her manage part of the budget (like for buying food), but make it very clear from the beginning that you are the CFO in the family!
I am a little worried that after living in the Philippines for over 6 months, that the social security administration can stop my monthly payments. I also heard that the way to avoid that is by keeping a U.S. address and bank account active. How do expats that remain in Asia during retirement avoid this kind of hassle?
That's wise advice! The only problem is that when someone repeatedly tells you how much they love you, you lose your sense of caution. That's my struggle. I'm still trying to verify everything, but at the same time, I have sincere affection for my Filipina. She is so poor, and I want to make her life better. So far, if she is conning me, she is the best con artist in the world. I'm still trying to figure that out!
The fact you are expressing your doubts about her or feel the need to "verify" already tells me you are lost, mentioning her economic status means that you doubt her character. Bill, please give her what she wants now, it will save you a lot of suffering in the future. She is with you because you represent a better life for her, stop trying to believe the idea that she loves you, she is saying that only to lessen your guilt.
Stop focusing on her words. She may be very sincere in saying that. More important to you I think should be her actions. Is this someone who brings out your best? Can you have long and interesting conversations? Do you have some common interests (hiking, walking, beach, cooking, church, etc)? Would you be proud to introduce her to close friends and family (Forget their reactions, would you be proud?)? Is she kind to children and animals? Does she have a big heart? Is she a hard worker? Are you both in Agreement about kids? Wishing you the best in whatever you choose.
So many of them saying that they love you the instant they start communicating with you. I’m sure there’s lots of good ones. But mine was telling me she loved me right up until the minute that she run from me in the middle of the night to the arms of another that told her he had plenty money and retiring in Philippines. Then he dumped her like used rubbish a week later when he finished his vacation. Now she says sorry and I miss you and can you forgive. I’m so sorry she says. Hope you have better luck than me. But I was amazed by her acting ability when telling lies 😮
You two are great together on video! One of your best videos, I think! And it really doesn’t matter about how many views you get. That was a good video. I think as a westerner we automatically lead with money. Not intentionally. But just by nature of flying to the Philippines, taking a Filipina and island, hopping and visiting resorts. especially if it’s with a province girl. They typically don’t have the means to do that. So simple things that we take for granted like going out to eat regularly going to the cinema. Maybe even just going to Jollibee twice a week. That’s leading with money even if we’re not aware of it.
No, that's not leading with money. It's simply a retired guy doing what he wants to do during his retirement, whether he does that solo or with a partner who matches his desires. To do any less would be sacrificing his desires in retirement and those desires are things he's planned for all his life & now gets to enjoy them.
Sounds a lot like money is a big topic here. I do make what in the Philippines would be a large sun but how would I deflect a question about my income?
Slightly conflicted here. On one hand you say be honest with intentions and answering questions, then the flip side in regards to income and "trap" questions...basically be careful and don't show all your cards. Sounds like a no win situation. As far as "verification", that sounds pretty much impossible.
I met online a philpina over 3 years ago and looked for a woman intentionally not young. I wanted a mature woman 40+ and met my now wife as of March who is 50 me being 61. She is my life and so so sweet and caring
? Spent some time in PI and Thailand and was very cautious. Love to find an honest person I believe there. there but I was there In Air Force. I want to know the person first and never did I go to questionable places. Well, guess I understand more than you are talking about.
That home is too flashy, but I get it. Need it for the arm candy. I started at the bottom, but at 53 I find myself in the seat of power and enjoying every moment of it.
Average income in the Philippines 2024 projected us$ 794.- That includes Metro Manila in that average. So us$ 1800.- should be a more than sufficient large income.
Check out the first few minutes of this video I answer that question specifically What is Considered 💰Rich💰in the Philippines + Our Budget th-cam.com/video/JDyeEpEXB2A/w-d-xo.html
Vincent we live in the uptown area of Cagayan de Oro. It is located in northern Minden now a city of about 800,000 people uptown is about 7 km south of downtown Cagayan de Oro. We are very close to the foothills of the mountains and we enjoy a breeze most of the year we don’t use air-conditioning however, right now we’re having a heat wave.
Hi. This is my first time listening to your channel. I am extremely fussy who l listen to because most of these type of channels about the Philippines are a waste of time and they are ONLY in it for the profit. You both come across as down to earth and very natural giving good insight and sound advice. I have given up on Western woman for a number of reasons. I have been with my Philippines girlfriend for 6 years now - both LDR and l have visited her 6 time and she has visited me in Australia once. I was so weary and fearful of another failure but she is gold as in we are so comfortable with each other. She has never asked me for money, in fact, she is not materialistic. I am a professional in dealing with people and l have found that ‘money’ will for the most, reveals the best and worst in people. Tell me, are you both living in the Philippines permanently? Thanks. Geoff from Australia
How do you reveal that you do have More financial resources than the average social security recipient and want to remain low-key. Is this dishonest .A good subject for a video . Thanks for the great topics and training.
I'm curious to see what Rob and Chrissy say about this. Why would you need to reveal it early on in a relationship at all? It will come out naturally at the right time as you get serious. If the size our your retirement account is a big thing to her you might want to move on.
I am much better off than most Americans but anyone seeing me on the street has no idea. I am a gray man. I will stick out in the PH. I am 6-0 with blonde hair. There is no reason to tell anyone about your assets except your attorney or accountant. I used to work for a boat company in Hawaii. We had a dinghy tied up at the dock. After our first outboard was stolen, I mad maxed the brand new Yamaha so that it looked ancient. No thefts after that. Hiding something is not deception. Most Filipinos think all Westerners are rich no matter what you say. So, no reason to say anything.
You could argue it’s disingenuous not to show your true self but at the same time, it depends on your dating choices. A modern Filipina professional is going to have an idea your more affluent than the average. By your general demeanour..it’s would be obvious.
@@Eric-qm5xw Yep. How you carry yourself, the words and grammar you use, the experiences you've had. there are so many tells how what strata folks fit into. It's less about the amount of money though and more about identifying a social class. I would think many women including many Filipinas would clue into all that quite quickly. Brad, I think Eric's word, disingenuous, is a better fit than dishonest. The smartest most capable women will figure it out right away, so by hiding it, they may wonder why you are doing it. That could scare away a keeper. At the same time don't flaunt it. Just be yourself and see who you meet.
To be at the level where the lady wants you to meet the whole family is a real serious phase where I come from. Is that not so in the Philippines? Also what I indirectly learned and believe is true is you do not kiss on the first date. I also believe in being friends first and all comes in time. I don't have a lot of money to spend. Also a lot of diseases but I suppose I'm suppose to have vaccinations before I get there because Rabies is $1,200 here and Japanese encephalitis vax is also $1,200 here how much is it there? Will they let me in the country if I tell them I'll get the vaccinations there? Thanks for another first hand experience and cogent and lucid presentation, magnanimous deed!
A big con is that divorce will come to the Philippines. A lot of expats are going to be in for a rude surprise. No reason to legally marry. Marry before God, not the state. Fortunately, the Philippines has a domestic partnership law that provides legal protection for the guy (adultery, r ape). It requires a Domestic Partnership Agreement that must be hashed out between her attorney and yours. It's basically a prenup without the marriage
When I first met my now wife she did not tell me she was an actress and I did not tell her I owned a paid for 40 acre ranch in San Diego. She was supper conservative and I dressed down. She spoke better English than I and I was a scientist. It was fun going down our road. After I had met here for about 6 months she said she was coming to Hollywood. I said WHAT. And the story got even far more interesting. When I went to see her in Asia she said we are going to a Sultans Golf Course and I said I do not play golf. She said you will see. What and more what's. It is so much fun getting to know people. I met the NPA in the Philippines on two occasions. Life is fun and your mention of confidence is spot on.
I’m trying to persuade my son to consider dating an East Asian woman, as in the west the situation is awful. I look at vloggers and it looks like there are way too many scammers to try and avoid. It’ll be my resources that will be used so that’s the dilemma
I believe that if a Philippine lady is struggling or just has enough for herself and exstra that they should be happy with a man in the same way so both can make things add up with what they have and in the future
David try PA love or Filipino Cupid don’t focus on the matches search using filters whatever age you’re interested in and write them including details that they provided send out 50 a week minimum
The best advise I can give you is to tell the woman: "I will not make any big, financial, decisions for one year." That gives you enough time to see the real value of the relationship. It worked for me when I told it to the woman I was "dating" living with for 8 months.
Guys, Thank you so much for a very realistic set of videos, very informative on reality. How about you bring nice looking, mature women as guest to your video and help us establish contact with possible future partners. I am seriously considering a life there if i find a serious, mature, somewhat educated Filipina with serious intentions Thank you Angel from Orlando, Florida
what do you know or think about "Filipina Bride" or services like this, i have not seen any you tubes on this subject , I have not traveled really at all ,watching a verity of you tubes it is very scary and seems very easy to get in trouble for someone that doesn't know what he is doing traveling to the Philippines. I live in the united states am a widower and 68 retired, I am in good shape and healthy , I like what you and Chrissy are doing you make it all seem very doable
Deep words and substance filled with sincerity. Thank you.

my Dad always tole me growing up that if you want to keep friends do not discuss politics, money or religion.....

Hey Rob, has anyone ever told you, you look like Pete Townsend of the Rock Group "The Who"?
🤔 You’re the first.
I didn‘t have the idea but Reading this I agree.

Yes, that makes me smile. Robert thanks for watching our channel and taking time to come.
Hi Ben, thanks for the feedback. Good to see you here.

I agree very much with your assessment of this situation. There is a need to balance the fact that she knows more than I about the local culture and traditions. We need to ask for advise sometimes and we need to balance our character and "power" with the ignorance of these factors.
👍

Well, said Paul
Thanks for watching and for that feedback

I do not think 9 years is a long time.
My OFW marriage in the states is 31 years and counting,, is my marriage a long time by your definition?
@@kevinacker9843 Yes, of course! Congratulations...some friends...Filipina and American are at 49.
Thanks for the comment Dean. I really enjoyed hearing your story.

Re: Bringing a friend to lunch or dinner -
I would be comfortable with a mom or sister, but a cousin or ?
Could you expand on this situation?
In the Philippines, a cousin is often just a friend or acquaintance
Ran into a woman on Skype. She said all the right things and it was a bit weird.
Thanks Cedric, excellent comment
Always downplay your financial situation! Even if you have loads of money in the bank, just tell her that you are on a pension. Let her manage part of the budget (like for buying food), but make it very clear from the beginning that you are the CFO in the family!
Thanks for watching and commenting
I am a little worried that after living in the Philippines for over 6 months, that the social security administration can stop my monthly payments. I also heard that the way to avoid that is by keeping a U.S. address and bank account active. How do expats that remain in Asia during retirement avoid this kind of hassle?
Either keep US address and bank account- or file a form annually as required.
@@Learning.Naturally Agree
So many of them saying that they love you the instant they start communicating with you. I’m sure there’s lots of good ones. But mine was telling me she loved me right up until the minute that she run from me in the middle of the night to the arms of another that told her he had plenty money and retiring in Philippines. Then he dumped her like used rubbish a week later when he finished his vacation. Now she says sorry and I miss you and can you forgive. I’m so sorry she says. Hope you have better luck than me. But I was amazed by her acting ability when telling lies 😮
Hi bill thanks for watching the video and for taking the time to provide this comment. Very interesting.
Thanks for that positive feedback and sharing your thoughts
No, that's not leading with money. It's simply a retired guy doing what he wants to do during his retirement, whether he does that solo or with a partner who matches his desires. To do any less would be sacrificing his desires in retirement and those desires are things he's planned for all his life & now gets to enjoy them.
Sounds a lot like money is a big topic here. I do make what in the Philippines would be a large sun but how would I deflect a question about my income?
Perhaps being vague but not dishonest and changing the subject
Slightly conflicted here. On one hand you say be honest with intentions and answering questions, then the flip side in regards to income and "trap" questions...basically be careful and don't show all your cards. Sounds like a no win situation. As far as "verification", that sounds pretty much impossible.
I hear your point

How do you reveal that you do have
More financial resources than the average social security recipient and want to remain low-key.
Is this dishonest .A good subject
for a video .
Brad, interesting suggestion thanks for the comment
How is it possible to be at SS eligibility and have no savings ? No investments ? No equity in his home ? Crazy.

Maybe you could discuss the pros and cons of marriage to a Filipina. It seems like a trap imho.
Tim, thanks for watching and making a suggestion in your comment

The best advise I can give you is to tell the woman: "I will not make any big, financial, decisions for one year." That gives you enough time to see the real value of the relationship. It worked for me when I told it to the woman I was "dating" living with for 8 months.
