@Emmie4497 It's a nice concept, I go to one Rye, Sussex. Conversation is encouraged as the landlord sits you down with other people to chat with. Also, every item in the pub is available to buy. Pretty unique

Me and my friends sometimes played a game where all phones had to be on the centre of the table. The first person to grab their phone had to buy a round for the group 😂

I had a very sketchy night in Sheffield many years ago. ended up kipping under a tarpaulin till i could get a train back to stockport the next day. It was like being in an outtake from 28 days later.
They are all mint pubs 😂 Proper dingy city centre crawl would of been farm road social club, penny black, Norfolk arms on Dixon lane, hen and chickens on castlegate, bankers draft 😅
Don’t forget the Bessemer, maggie mays and Yates😂 when I lived in Sheff 5 years ago there’d always be some interesting characters in them/trouble. Need to go back and go to them 😂
I went for a pub crawl around Sheffield last year. Visited the Fat Cat, The Shakespeare, Three Tuns, Dorothy Pax on the canal and few others. All decent traditional pubs with good variety of beers. I also visited the local pubs on the outskirts of the Peak District where I was staying. There it felt more like being in a country village.
Three Tuns, Grapes, Dog and Partridge, Fagans, Bath Hotel, Blake Hotel, Blind Monkey, Fat Cat, Kelham Island Tavern. Not dodgy pubs, or dingy, but well worth going to.

Gardeners Rest is a pork pie hat pub, very upmarket round there. Wellington is a student pub, smack bang in student land. Didn't visit a single pub worth visiting.
You finished outside my old flats Nice video but how come you didn't find a "Dingy/rough" boozer there is plenty of them, you also missed the main strip by about 50 yards was it midweek or weekend?
Dove and Rainbow was always my regular in Sheffield. They didn't used to do Guinness on tap, but I think they do now. I'm not in there that often since I quit drinking, but it's always had a good vibe, a very rustic rock bar. Very similar to The Swan in Liverpool.
Most of the real dodgy pubs in Sheffield city centre have been closed down by the Police. They were literally getting called out to them non stop... all day pissed up drinkers fighting amongst themselves, ordering things you wanted stealing and buying allsorts that had already been stolen.. if you'd have gone in and theyd not seen you before youd have been approached especially with a non local accent. These pubs were packed out all day long, you could get any drugs you wanted anytime! 😄
Sheffield, my home for more than 8 years, proper place for pubs, the capital of ales!! That pub Gardner's rest is actually pretty nice, down the road, most of the pubs at Kelham Island are worth to have a look, Riverside, Shakeai, Kelham Island Tavern, Fat Cat, all class
I moved around the Sheffield area about 5 years ago, I think it's a decent place. It feels more like a massive town. But I do love the look of the old industrial buildings being repurposed.

You'll not find rough pubs anywhere near centre of Sheff pal. You'd need to go to areas like Manor Top, Pitsmoor or Burngreave and try their local pubs if you want something a bit spicy

Great vid this. Kelham Island where you started has enough for a night out alone without even going into the centre. Definitely a more relaxed vibe around there on a night compared to the centre. Spoilt for choice in Sheffield really.

Great vlog. Both the Sam’ Smiths pubs near us are shut because the management are so difficult to work for. Frog & Parrot in Sheffield used to sell Roger& Out beer in the ‘80’s.. blew yer socks off!
I live in Sheffield, and been to every one apart from the Wellington. We usually end our nights at the Washington. Might have to pop back to the town centre some time soon!
These will be right up your street for when you come to Newcastle (The Toon). All in the city centre: Black Garter, The Clock, Butlers, Rose & Crown, The Beehive, 3 Bulls Heads, The Percy, Sgt Peppers, Rafferty’s. A bit further out in Byker, you’ve got Shields Rd with any amount of suitable establishments! Enjoy!
I usually go to Sheffield once a year to either watch a theatre show or to watch the World Seniors Snooker at the Crucible and I usually have a pint of extra stout in The Bear when I'm to early to check-in to the hotel and I usually have one more there before I watch the show or snooker.
The next time you go to Sheffield try the Norfolk Arms on Dixon Lane and The Carlton Hotel in Attercliffe, it's a bit of a trip between the two but the cliffe has some really dingy pubs.
Definitely didn’t find any dingy pubs going in any of those venues: Sheffield has loads of great pubs! Next time you visit, if you want to sample some rough pubs you need to head to an area like The Manor, Grenoside and Parson Cross and sample some of the pubs/clubs there 😂 Great videos though. You need to come back Sheffield has loads of gem pubs like them. Youve only scratched the service . And go to Shrewsbury that has some really old pubs and nice bars and 1hr on the train from your end. Good work.

Anyone thinking of coming to Sheffield this man started at an area called "Kelham Island" (the hipster place he referred to). It's an old industrial area that's now more a night out destination. Then the Wellington is near Shalesmore tram stop. Then he was in the Brown Bear which is at the back of Tudor Square (near the Crucible Theatre) Don't think I've been in The Forester but it looked like Division Street (?) The Washington is off West Street. (I've never liked it in there.) Great video. Hope you enjoyed your visit to Sheffield!
I'm from Sheffield, but don't really go out that much. If I do it's generally to the Forum Bar of Devonshire Street. On a hot Saturday afternoon in Sheffield, it's not uncommon to see gangs of 20+ people doing the rounds. The big city draws in people from the surrounding towns and villages by train
The Gardeners is owned by a committee of customers who put time and money in to stop it being closed down. If you come back to Sheff, try The Grapes on Trippet Lane. A proper Irish pub, with live music and great basic food. The Washington used to be a really cool place but went up its own arse after lockdown.
