I love a proper boozer. Loads of great pubs here in Ireland. Although, that first pub I would have avoided like the plague judging by the outside of it. Funny though how it was instantly warm and welcoming the second you braved the threshold and walked in. Friendly greeting at the door, bit of a buzz going on inside, friendly bar lady. Little safe haven from the hell that. Cheers for this content. Subscribed. ✌

The phone boxes are/were that off-white colour because Hull had a different phone company. In the rest of the UK the Post Office ran the phone system originally so the phone boxes were red, like the post boxes. In Hull the town Corporation ran the phone system, and I think they also ran the electricity system. Just found your channel and enjoying it a lot, thank you!

It's pretty funny you wondering where everyone is. Apart from the roads, a lot of the council estates are quite sleepy places during the day. Livens up towards the evening depending on the day but everyone's inside playing games, getting high or at work.
My mate lives near the Drake, I used to goto that school you went by it's called Beude park primary. You are in just one of the rougher areas one street away from where I grew up. It's not that bad really now but back then it was as dodgy as they come.
Edit: Oh so you went to the Nightjar then lmao! My house was nextdoor to it. Back in 1995 there was this fella who every other evening stood in the beergarden in the carpark behind it and shouted "SCRAMBLE!!!" and threw his spare change everywhere. Sometimes pound coins but mostly copper, tens and twenty's. We all used to gather there waiting when we got used to it and try and collect it all lmao I can't believe I'm seeing all this it's real weird, nostalgic.
It was weird down there though, used to be an underpass just behind the houses on the main road, I got hit by a bus on the corner there when I was a kid. Lot of druggies down there under the arch. Pedo's around that area a lot aswell (not an ignorant insult I'm just throwing out there either I know for a fact). Lot of fights breaking out all the time and houses being set on fire. I remember going to watch them burn down and walking by on the way to school.
Edit2: Oh shit I didn't expect you to go around the back of the betting shop. I just got sudden flashbacks my heart is racing. That path down there a lot of bad shit went down for me. I'm glad I got out

As someone who's actually from and still lives in Hull, yeah.... it's pretty much like this. It's just an odd place, neither great nor terrible place, just..... a place.....
Edit: To be honest, I feel like Hull's lost its identity since all the main business that Hull brought sort of died out and so its just..... here.
Also the blue tower, is actually a block of flats, I live nearby another one, a peachy coloured one, pretty much up the road from the blue one.

I grew up on Bransholme 28 years, it was a shithole growing up and now when i visit family either i see it for what it is in even finer detail or its worse. Plenty of stabbings and gang related shit now, thankfully wveryones so poor we dont really have organised drug gang violence like Leeds/Manchester/Liverpool/London. I still love my hometown but it got thoroughly bombed to shit during ww2 and when the fishing industry died out in the 60s/70s a lot of people where left without jobs and any prospects. There's regeneration in the more upmarket parts like fruit market (which is great tbh) and other parts are thriving but we've got a long way to go and a ton of social problems that the shitty local councils never seem bothered about or are too underfunded to make any real positive change.
