@@mrsbendychicken Blackpool council spent £23,000,000 on the tram lines going up to the train station, which by the way most people living here didn't want. Also now that Uber taxis have been allowed into Blackpool and the trams going to the train station it's fair to say the council has killed the taxi profession off in Blackpool. If you add up what they are spending in Talbot Road and Bonney Street it's not far off a billion pounds in total. They are an awful, greedy, stupid bunch of people who are destroying this place I love.

@@mrsbendychicken I've lived in Cleveleys for over 8 years now and on balance I like it here. I'm about 6 miles from Blackpool tower just in the Blackpool borough. But regardless of them being Tories or Labour, the council/MPs here really let us down. Everything they do is for the holiday makers, to a point I accept they must accommodate the holiday maker. But also look after the people who live and work here. I mentioned that the council are killing off the taxis but also opening the Holiday Inn hotel in Talbot Road which Blackpool council own is directly competing with the local hotels and guest houses. If you look at the new branded hotels in the Talbot Road area and the ones that are being built in the next few years, they are going to put some many local businesses out of business.
Here's another thing... They closed Derby Baths down in the 90s and replaced it with nothing. To this day it's just a large abandoned piece of land next to the Grand hotel. Really sad to see this happening. Read everyday online people saying what a dump Blackpool is now and they are at least half right but it doesn't have to be like this. Fingers crossed one day we get a council with brains and integrity.

Blackpool is an absolute catastrophe. I have lived just outside of Blackpool for 20 odd years. I have worked professionally amongst the people in these areas of extreme poverty and deprivation for the duration, until my recent retirement. I could tell you stories and show you places in this town that most people wouldnt believe or have never experienced. Blackpool is the result of over 30 years of local and national government neglect. You have barely scratched the surface here Bill, but this video is a great eyeopener for those who may think Blackpool is a lovely place to visit. Its not. Its a tragic shithole with unacceptable levels of crime and substance abuse. I have always said to people that, of all the places i have lived and worked, Blackpool is the one place where you could turn up in desperate need of help or human kindness, and be guaranteed that someone will take advantage of you due to their own desperation. It really is dog eat dog on the streets of this town. Strangely enough, as with most seaside towns, the surrounding areas are quite affluent and pleasant places to live. The people who live in theae areas (Bispham, Cleveleys, Poulton etc) dont go to Blackpool to spend money because the council have engineered the whole place to benefit tourists who only visit for maybe 6-7 months of the year, and never venture away from the promenade. As such, the town is like the wild west for the rest of the year, with no prospects of work for those who live there. I live 20 mins walk away from north shore yet my area is a million miles away in terms of its appearance and its inhabitants. The town is an absolute blight on the Fylde coast and I seriously pity and sympathise with some of the families that have no choice but to live there through circumstances out of their control. A truly sad indictment on the current state of this shithole island and the capitalist greed of those who look to exploit the most vulnerable of society.

@@jillkew6800 Lytham and Lytham St Anne's are quite different places. They are both a fair distance away from Blackpool on the south of the Fylde coast and neither are linked by the tram network.
Both places were considered to be much more affluent and well to do than its poorer neighbours in Blackpool. Lytham is indeed very affluent with a beautiful town centre and plenty of lovely shops and restaurants. It is a highly sought after location and remains the most expensive part of the Fylde coast to reside. As such, there are far lower crime rates and it is a very well kept town.
Lytham St Anne's used to hold a similar status but has seen a decline over the last 10 years. Drugs and HMO's have started to have the usual effect on the town, along with the closure of some major shops in the centre. As a result, it has slightly fallen from its pedestal and the council need to address thid decline. That said, it is a far cry from Blackpool and still a very nice place to live. It is approx 1.5 miles away from the outskirts of Blackpool south, which is a relatively decent part of Blackpool. Both Lytham and Lytham St Anne's are far enough away from Blackpool Central to never really be impacted by the poverty in Blackpool. Unfortunately, quite a number of drug users and homeless people have found their way into Lytham St Annes and it has become obvious on the streets of the town centre. Both nice places to live and far away enough from Blackpool to never notice it 👍

We stayed in Blackpool ( in the hotel built in to the football ground ) for two nights last year. First visit since 1985, when it was still fine and busy and fun. Used to visit when I was a child through the late 1960’s early 1970’s, like thousands of other families. All very good. Now it’s like Billy shows you here. Terrible. Dead. Finished. Unrecognisible
    . Tragic.

Was their 3 years ago for a couple a nights. Seen a girl lying face down and her mates just sitting near her, went over turned her over just before she threw up, she had taken an abortion pill then went on the piss. Her mate (gay fella) had a big coat on he wouldn’t put it on her for heat.
My gf gave her hoodie, the other girl draped it over her shoulders while her legs were vibrating from cold we covered her up and phoned ambulance, one of her mates cleared off . I put her in ambulance as paramedic expected her to climb in alone when she was literally legless, after that her little fairy friend said “you’s can go now” I was fuming I honestly think if we hadn’t turned up she could of died. They were student types not junkies or anything

Was based in Liverpool Careers Office for the RAF on their Motivational Outreach team and Blackpool was my hardest area. In Toxteth and Moss Side the youngsters can see the the bright lights of the city and the new buildings going up and even though some of their personal situations were horrendous, they can see that there is a way out and a way to prosper if they get their heads down. Whereas in Blackpool they can only see depravity and it has a real effect on their ability to want better for themselves.

It’s funny the BBC really has No clue how to make real documentaries like this one here to show the realities of Britain.
The BBC only shows sports stuff, Politics and stuff about the Royal family, Windsor, Sandringham and who gives a fuck about the rich Royal family.

Man what happened over there in England. Good for you to document this Billy. Likes the accents you do lol... im from Jersey Channel island, contrary to popular belief we are not all millionaries infact I dont know one. The steady rise of food banks and homelessness is becoming more prominant but only just swept under the rug, just. The good thing is there is alot of work here. But if you have medical or mental issues, addiction etc you will sadly find yourself struggling to survive. There are services but you literally need to be put in prisin to access this. My brother who has bounced back now totally found this out. God speed all. We are all in this together. The Starmers of this world and who they work for are the issue. Look up agend 21/30, I believe we should research the enemy of the people and their plans so we can best combat them. ❤ cheers Billy! Brave man. God bless

What a state Blackpool is in these days. Them big houses could be done up made into decent homes instead of left rotting. The same thing loads of Homeless & addiction. This government needs to be ploughing money into sorting this crisis in our communities, I feel sorry for genuine asylum seekers but it's our own who needs helping first & these videos Billy makes prove it. Brothel's in residential areas what's going on with the authorities allowing this and why do residents accept it. Surely the councillors must report back to their parties what's going on in places. What a total mess our country is in.We are going to see more & more rioting on the streets as people get angrier & angrier with these situations. I hope that lad gets sorted with a job through Billy's help, he's definitely got potential to better himself that lad. Great video again from you Billy

They will be done up but there is such a backlog and the council bids out to housing associations who also have a backlog. So it will take time. Likely no less than 10 years to get anything done and that is only if the council and housing associations have the money to put into it. They can't generate it out of thin air like the government.

They get funding from the government and the coucil tax clearly needs to go to street cleaning. Imagine paying council tax to leave in this place, how much the coucil has made from tourism for years shows either purposeful corruption of intended decline or extremely poor management at the very least. We need better people making the decisions. If they had a influx of money from government from income taxes they could eliminate a lot of homeless people with all the vacant properties. The coucil are still likely saying no incases where private developers want to get planning and would rather have it looking like this

This is what happens when you drive your towns economy entirely on seasonal tourism. With a train ticket from Leeds costing the same price as a flight to France, why on earth would you ever holiday in Blackers

    • @patsanters2741

True ^ But again why would u holiday in France when your British they hate us ..And yet our silly Givernment hand French hundreds of millions of euros to stop boats crossing to Britain BUT then French just allow boats to cross ..British Government to blame for that . Hopeless .

Almost all holiday destinations across the Earth base the majority of their income from tourism. Blackpool is no different. Whether it be the Hawaiian islands (some of whom also have pineapple farms as secondary economies), Benidorm or Kissimee, tourist destinations rely on...tourism.
Blackpool has suffered like other UK seaside towns thanks to low cost air fares to guaranteed sunshine. It has also failed to invest in quality accomodation. It has also been affected by deindustrialisation of local economies, mass immigration driving down wages, lack of investment, government incompetence...the list goes on. Tragic really.

It's a crying shame what's become of once proud working class communities up and down the land. This could now be any town or city in the UK. I moved abroad around 13 years ago. I came back to the UK last year for a visit. I was shocked at the changes. Decline everywhere.

No matter their background story or struggles with addiction, you always treat them with humanity & respect.
I hate when people walk pass them & look down their noses at them without stopping to help or just talk.
Only for the grace of God do we find ourselves where we are in life.
