Things I forgot to mention... The cost of the actual immigration application was €140 per person = €560 in total. Private Health Insurance is something you have to have to get through immigration = €130 per person (I forgot exactly, but it's around that number). Refuse Tax = €145 per annum due in November.
As a Traveller the Problem us Brits have is we can only stay in any EU Country for a Max of 3 Month. I am in my 60s and next year i am buying a Scooter and leaving the UK , i intend to tour and live in a Tent at Camp sites. Believe me it's not as cheap as it sounds , £50 a day to live on.
@@paulfensome1404It is worth pointing out that the Cypriot 90 day rule is NOT the Schenzen zone EU rule. Cyprus is currently not in the Schengen zone. The Cypriot 90 day rule is a visa requirement that can be extended with consultation with the Cypriot High Commission.
I thought that a UK citizen wasn't able to move abroad permanently after we left the EU? I don't blame you moving abroad and looking after your family. I also would like to move abroad. I don't recognise my own town anymore, over run by migrants. I feel like a foreigner in my own country, and the sad thing is its only going to get worse.
@@YanksandBritsProductions Thanks for taking the time to reply. I was under the impression that a Brit could only go to say Spain for 90 days per year on a visa. So would it be possible to live there provided I paid them to do so? Thanks.
Moved to Cyprus 23 years ago - a really good decision. Do I miss the UK? Yes, but that old UK doesn't exist any longer. When I do visit the UK I'm shocked at how the government's have allowed it to decline so much. So very sad!
You watch too much news on tv, move to move abroad if you do not like it in the UK , the country would be better off without people like you winging all the time, try Cyprus mate, Rents sky high, food more expensive than UK, the grass is not always greener on the other side
Cyprus is amazing. Left UK years ago and it was the right decision. Problem with most of the English who come here though is that they do not learn Greek or integrate. They stay in brit enclaves like Peyia and eventually feel isolated and bored. The trick is to learn the language and integrate with the locals, then you will enjoy the very rich and fulfilling life the island offers
@@KimThomas- that's not what people complain about. Notice how there's many Chinese/Cantonese here who don't learn the language or integrate yet nobody has a problem with that. It's much deeper than that.
It’s SAD that the U.K. has become so crap and expensive that moving abroad becomes a no brainer. The U.K. has become a failed country. Well done on escaping
Try Cyprus mate , rents are sky high, food more expensive than here, you need to run your air con 24 hours a day with 40 degrees heat and your electricity bills run sky high, cars cost nearly double and you can smoke your self to death on cheap tobacco, if that does not kill you then the raging 40 degrees heat and wild fires will, or you will end up with skin cancer from over exposure to uv rays, oh i forgot you get free hot water from the solar panels whoopee
I guess it’s the government that gets drunk abroad and gives all the brits a shit name abroad ? Move…don’t move but blaming someone else is so weak minded and lazy.
It's not your government! It's the banking cartels government. All political parasite are employed by the central banks. The elite think tank that is coming up with all these disastrous policies is the WEF. Same here in Ireland.
Im movin to the countryside of Spain. Humans are the cause of many problems, plus the cost of living. Id be happy never to see another human again in my life, just having my pets. No two facedness; backstabbers; greed; aggression, you can keep your humans. Life is better living the simple life surrounded by nature and animals for company.
You exist within a society of humans that enables you to do thius - to supply your energy, food, material of life . Without any other humans - or a society of humans to deliver this you couldn't have the life you seek.
If you walk into a room and there is someone you don’t like, that person might be a dick, but if you walk into a room and you don’t like everyone there, maybe the dick is…….
Let's be honest. The UK is ready for some Wat Tyler action. It needed to happen 20 years ago and I am afraid it is now far too late. The communists and foreigners have the upper hand. it is done. The only answer is escape. Trad avenues of escape are closing. for example Aus and NZ are as bad if not worse. Canada is now a socialist 'paradise' under Trudeau. I escaped to the USA in 84 but it was a nightmare move. it took a total of 15 years from landing to citizen. After traveling the world I am now settled. I will never leave the USA again. I have everything here. Tropics, mountains, deserts and forests. A walk into Mexico for dental work and decent immediate medical care for a reasonable cost here in the USA. Social security pays me enough that I actually save $300 a month. I look at Britain and the state of the place and it breaks my heart. 💔💔💔

We have friends who live in Polis 😀 we are new to Peyia and our kids also go to school here. Both reading their Greek books after 3 weeks, not great but it's a start 😀
Now we have gangs of people pretending to be old furniture and other stuff you don't want collectors. Guess what they do. Fly tipping. You can guess their heritage.
I’ve travelled all over Europe, think Cyprus is the cleanest country so far. Loved being in Paphos, drove all around the island in one day, loved it! If I was younger I’d definitely move there, but my kids are adults now and I’m not with their Dad anymore otherwise we would have moved without any regrets…only regret is NOT moving when we could’ve done. Well done for being brave and savvy enough to do it !😉✌🏼
Lots of extremely clean countries in Europe: Austria, Slovenia, Switzerland, Estonia, Lithuania, Norway, Finland, Denmark...pristine nature, lush green
I thought Cyprus had a DMZ straight though the middle. Separating the Greek and Turkish sides. It was around 30 years ago, last time I was in Paphos tho.
We sold up everything the 'YUK' 21 years ago and moved to Cyprus for good. And the best thing we ever did in our lives ! And we get stressed and depressed just thinking about going back there for even a few days ! It takes a while to settle in, but Cyprus grows on you.
@@NuttersInCyprus Hope you are settling in well. There are only a few problems living here like it's far too hot in June, July, August but nowhere is perfect ! There is a lot of issues with the UK and I was proud to have lived there, served my country, and made my life there. However, everything changed in the last 10 years. This is a fantastic video and much resonates with me when I decided to leave the UK and move to South Korea. Funnily enough, I used to live in Cyprus as my parents were in the Army and we lived in Nicosia. I spent around 5 years in total and absolutely loved it as a kid. Living in South Korea means I don't have to worry about knife crime or being mugged when walking along the street. The people are so friendly and I find them incredibly patient and supportive, despite my limited Korean ability.
Born and bred in uk, but i have fallen short of love for uk, the culture, the arrogance, the selfishness, the rudeness and the rubbish and pot holes, the driving habits, the crime, the corrupt govt... everything is so bad here. Im also looking into moving out but unsure to where i can go? Thank you for the video.
We left the UK to Australia for the same reasons. I ended up being fast tracked due to my trade. Rounded up costs came to about £9000... Bought all our furniture here via container. Don't regret it at all, but, would I move here again? NO... Why? Because Australia is following the same UK model... This, other than financially, doesn't affect us as we live in a small town away from the increase in issues the government are causing.
Well done you sir, the thing is for me... If Cyprus goes the same way as the UK, we'll go to the next place! That's not the plan, but if it has to be, it has to be!
Yes, Canada is the same and virtually the entire English speaking world has gone barking mad due to betrayal by the politicians and the elites. Perhaps Bermuda 🇧🇲 and some small outlying areas are still OK.
First video I’ve come across, thanks for the info. I lived in Cyprus for 2 years (15 years ago) when I was in the army and been saying recently I’d love to move over there and then this popped up!
How is your family going to survive after all these payments you have made? What income are going to receive from your employer if any to cover on going expense'.🤔 I'm confused 😕
Really appreciate the honesty, I've been to Cyprus for the last 13 years straight (save for covid) and intend to move out there at some point. Cyprus seems a much better life!

It's interesting to read the many comments describing the UK as crap/shithole etc. I live in Chester and really like it. I was born here and moved to Portugal when I was 19 for a bit of adventure. I stayed there for 15 years and moved home when I was 34. I go back to Portugal every year to visit friends and stay a couple of months. I've thought about moving back there, but, to be honest, I think the UK (Chester and surrounding area/south coast where my eldest lives) is very nice. Anyway, good luck to everyone emigrating for a better life.
This is probably the best comment I've seen on this video. My intention wasn't to make it UK vs CY, or heavily immigrant related. However I've had 100s of messages simply saying "so now your an immigrant" like they have had some kind of gotcha moment! Also, there are 100s of comments about UK being a dump. I wouldn't say it's a dump, I would say the number of stabbings is a joke where we lived in the west midlands. The cost of living meant we couldn't live the life we live now. In the UK we would get a take away once a week, now we eat out multiple times a week, go to entertainment events etc and our budget hasn't really increased from our out goings in the UK. Also, I think I've seen maybe 1 crack head here, whereas where we lived in UK, you had to step over them to get into the shops and churches. Again not their fault, but also not something I want to bring my kids up around. these things get worse, not better. Also as I've said before horses for courses, and we all have different circumstances, some live in areas that are a dump, some live in leafy green areas!
I think most people have lost faith with the UK government’s & immigration.. that’s the cause of most people’s issues .. & the weather wears u out after a while
The misses and I moved from London to Serbia just under 4 years ago. Don't miss the UK in the slightest, much better lifestyle. Well done on your choice, I hope it turns out brilliantly for you and the family.
@@NuttersInCyprus got my permanent residency this year. It's extremely cheap to live here, AVG salaries are around €400pm. I'm alright because I work online, but there's an English mate of mine, who got his first salary last month (€400), he owns his house, 2 cars outright and can live comfortably on that. Where most people fail, is they expect the same salary as the UK - which isn't necessary, due to the UK being a rip off. It's a scale of local value of freedom, compared to slave labour to cover your living expenses (UK). And it's bloody safe here, people reserve their seat at a cafe - with their mobile phones 😂🤣 You can't even make a call in London without the fear of it being nicked.
Thanks for taking the time to make this open video. The beginning resonated with me. Been thinking of leaving the UK but worried about relocating my 8 year old. But the points you made at the beginning made me think maybe she’s the reason we leave, not the reason we stay. Subscribed
I live in Larnaca. A couple of things: Water bill comes every 2 months. On average mine has been €80. Also, if you have the big 18.9L water bottles you can get a harder plastic one (we have 2) from Super Home Centre or other hardware places, and then fill them up in a water refill station for €1.20. I use Mr Penguin water. So that would half your drinking water cost from what you said you were paying. :)

I feel exactly the same mate. I'm originally from the north east, now living down south. I contemplated moving back to the north east but the more I think about it the more a move abroad seems like the right thing to do. Not just for me but for my wife and girls.
Just get ready for winter, January and February can be cold and the houses are built for heat not cold, so no insulation etc, the air conditioning doesn’t warm the room up the same, ask a local on heat solutions! It will change about mid November to cooler nights, the locals will be in boots and coats , you will still be in shorts! When the snow comes everyone goes to the mountains!
Thanks for the tip! Funny enough when we left the UK, 1 of the very few things we shipped over was a large double electric radiator on wheels :) I knew it would come in handy! Also I brought all my camping gear so we'll fit right in with the locals when we're wearing our hiking gear lol
Sounds a good move. I did 38 years in S.A., back in the UK for 5 years but so disappointed with many things here and would move on again if I wasn't 72. Good luck it will work out fine for you. Regards Colin

Way to go! - It's a terrible shame over what's happened to the UK but you are absolutely right in putting yourself and your family first. - As a side note, I wonder what you would find returning to the UK in 10 years time? The trajectory of the country is bonkers. It's not Britain or British anymore. Do you even bother registering to vote in UK elections? So damn sad!
No I don't vote, realistically there are 2 options Tory or Labour, neither party represents me, I think it's a broken system. I just concentrate on progressing myself and my little family and whatever happens around us, I try to navigate best I can.

Hearing your reasons for moving away from the UK, it's a no brainer. I lived in a quiet village in Crete, in my 20s and it was a lovely way of life. I'm single and just got too lonely without my family, otherwise i'd still be there now. Everyone was respectful, love their families, Didnt know of anyone on benefits, lived off the land, people are so healthy they glow, they dont go out wanting to fight/stab each other on a night out. And obviously the weather was a Brucey bonus. Good for you, and good for your family.
Get yourselves some ceiling fans and don't have the ac on any lower than 23. You'll slowly get used to it. AC doesn't heat very well on cold winter days. Look into alternatives.
Well done mate. I’m a 42 year old Brit, was 13 years in NL before returning to UK in 2022, right decision at the time but already planning the next move, always loved Cyprus, will look forward to seeing your experiences 🙏
Hey there! Don't worry too much about the nosebleeds. The air in Cyprus is quite humid and salty, which can cause nosebleeds initially. Your body will likely adjust to it over time. Stay hydrated and take care! I think I’ll soon be moving back to Cyprus!
Well done for making the move mate, I hope you are enjoying it. I will In terms of the running costs you listed, the Cyprus rent seems more expensive than mine, the electrics, the food as well, my weekly shopping is about £130 per month, but as far as spending money the UK gives us a lot, and when it comes to spending things have been getting worse but again it's not as bad as some other places in the world (that's what the muzlim and middle eastern, african immigrants are coming to the UK for). Money. I've been thinking of moving to Bulgaria, or Spain or Croatia so I will keep watching you videos to see how you get on. I need more courage to move away from the UK.

Cyprus is good i agree, lived there for a number of years, the only downside in the current climate is the ongoing conflict between Israel and the rest of the world plus the war in Ukraine, Akrotiri is heavily used by the RAF and the USAF / israel for flights and 33SU is the main ELINT site in this part of the world. My point being, you have the Turkish in the north since the invasion in 1974 which was helped along by certain Greeks at the time, so the two SBA areas in the south are a very nice target for the Turks / Russians / Iranians and virtually everyone who is fed up with Anglo-American interference in the countries. My travels finally took me to Newcastle, which we split our time between here and the beautiful northeast coast. I've had property here since 2008, so I have learnt lots of lessons the hard way! 😅
Try water filters, 2 into your property mains etc and 1 onto the tap in the kitchen, a carbon filter that takes impurities and taste out of the water. Saves money and time and cuts out all the recycling! The first 2 could be a 10 micron primary and 5 micron secondary. Not a great capital outlay, this has worked for me, I live in the east of the island. Cheers
Just stumbled across this video. What do you do for work over there? I'd love to move away from the UK but I don't have any "skills"... is there many jobs out there?
@@NuttersInCyprusIf there was not of Brexit you could work freely wherever you wish to within EU. Another downside of UK. You will have to get over obstacles, but I truly wish you luck.
@@NuttersInCyprusHi Can you please explain the pink slip and how you earn offshore? Do you mean you need to work on the rigs or for a company back home?
@Superman-nn4nw you can earn the money anywhere other than Cyprus. I put out another video yesterday, you should watch that I answer of lot of questions on that. Thanks for taking the time to watch it.
Could I ask you what you do for a living / Job out there ?? I lived there for a couple of years returned to UK 2009 They had joined the EU then so did not need any visa's etc to live & work there At the time I worked on maintance at a hotel in Paphos - it was hard work and they wanted you there 24/7 for 600 euro a month - I went there to work less than in the UK (semi retire) but ended up working harder I found the food to be the same price if not more expensive than the UK & fuel for car slightly cheaper than the UK (but not by much) Diesel used to be about 20 cents a litre BEFORE they joined the EU then it shot up I was planning on retiring there - went out in 2019 - 2020 to sort it out The convid !! so never happened !!
Hi Colin, I have investments that keep me ticking over. I agree. I feel the food is the same price as UK, and the steak is more expensive. Haven't noticed on diesel, I haven't even looked at how much a litre if I'm honest, I should really. Sorry to hear the retirement move never happened, maybe some time in the future. 🙏
If you register as self-employed in Cyprus then you can register with GESY, the Cyprus Health System. It just takes one of you to do that then your family can be registered as beneficiaries under you. You have to pay social insurance and GESY costs, but it will be way less than €520/ month and it pays into your pension too. P.S. I just watched another video of yours so I see you can’t work in Cyprus yet. I’ll leave this comment in case it helps someone else.
Peyia is the British immigrants area so the rents tend to be higher than Greek areas. Work is normally six days a week, not much available outside hospitality and poorly paid. I hated the way they treat animals there and one of my dogs was poisoned.I hadn't realised how common that was until I found out the vets stock poison kits for you to carry when out walking your dog.
Serious question: Is Cyprus boring? I am in my mid-30ies, no kids, no partner. Been twice for 3 weeks each. But last time I went this year I couldn't help but wonder if it does get boring, especially in off-season? It has a very slow pace. Are you bored at all when coming from a faster-paced country?
Depends what you want from life, we are pretty boring! Also we haven't been here in off season so I can't answer! If you just spend all your days and nights in the bar, then I'd imagine it can get boring. Also when we was in the UK it was pretty boring, school run, work, school run, feed, TV.
So what is so great about the UK making it less boring? Wouldnt class working long hours less boring. The UK has nothing else than having to work long and hard to occupy your mind. Cant think anything more boring. You cant even walk around the UK when you have free time due to the cold, damp and wet climate. What else does it have, shopping and going to the pub, nothing more boring.
@@NuttersInCyprus I don't drink so I wouldn't spend any time in bars or pubs, only restaurants to eat. What was appealing about CY was the outdoor activities, such as hiking etc. but it is quite hot in the summer. Will see.
Hi mate glad you moved.May i ask what kind of immigration visa you took.Do Brits need immigration visa to settle in Cyprus and how it works?Kindly guide us on immigration part of it as that is the real issue after brexit we can't really move any where permanently!

The cost of the actual immigration application was €140 per person = €560 in total.
Private Health Insurance is something you have to have to get through immigration = €130 per person (I forgot exactly, but it's around that number).
Refuse Tax = €145 per annum due in November.

Cyprus is amazing. Left UK years ago and it was the right decision. Problem with most of the English who come here though is that they do not learn Greek or integrate. They stay in brit enclaves like Peyia and eventually feel isolated and bored. 💔💔💔

A dirty grey country; bad weather; miserable people; high cost of living and mass immigration. I totally despice the UK and cant wait to leave, in honesty, would struggle to come back to visit. The country holds more bad, than good memories for me. Cant wait to move to Spain and live in the countryside. Already bought a house there in the countryside, sunny and friendly people. Fellow manc,
Just been watching a couple of your vids mate, top work, thanks for taking the time to put these together.
Me and the misses had very much a similar conversation RE leaving UK on top of all you mentioned, the quality of life just isn't justified with the cost of living over there, not to mention taxes are just unfair, particularly for SMEs.
Anyway, we decided to pack up and take the little one out of school and start with a gap year and see where we end up, we are just coming to the end of Europe before we go to SE Asia. But of all the countries in Europe we really liked Portugal (was there for just over a month) and are in Paphos ATM for around 5 weeks and think it's great here.
Wish you all the best!
Hello mate,
Yeah we like Portugal to, but Cyprus just pipped it for a couple of reasons. If your in Paphos feel free to message on the Nutters in Cyprus Facebook page and we can arrange to bump into each other!
Enjoy Paphos R Kid 🙏
Hiya mate - just wondering what you do professionally? I think that's probably the main sticking point for people of a similar age moving over to somewhere like Cyprus, how they can continue working and earning enough to pay the bills. All the best
@realisticallyfit I'm a business consultant. I learnt how to be very organised, then I meet alot of people who have businesses who are looking to scale or they say things like "I'm always busy, I don't get a minute to myself" I then put a system in place for them that gives them more free time.
One thing everyone is short of is time. If someone has money, but no time, they will pay good money to get their time back!
@@NuttersInCyprus Nice one mate, sounds like exactly the kind of thing you can offer anywhere with an internet connection - don't blame you for choosing Peyia taking that into account! We lived there for a year back in 2012 - in a little villa opposite the Brewery bar and next to the old footy stadium - great memories, amazing lifestyle. Like you I could work remotely. Hardest thing was keeping myself out of the bars when everybody else is on holiday and that's just your day to day life - tough! Like you, was also a member of Tower Fitness, say hi to Andreas for us. Take care
@realisticallyfit cheers mate! What was your reason for leaving?
Alot of people have said the same thing about hard to stay out the bars, I used to be that guy in Portugal, but the kids and a little bit of success made me sort myself out and focus on family and an opportunity that I seen.
@@NuttersInCyprus We planned to live there full time, but then my girlfriend (now wife) became pregnant and we made the tough decision to come back to be close to family. We returned to Cyprus in 2014 when my little girl was just under 2 and got married at a villa in Lower Peyia, not far from Neos Sports Club if you've ever been? We're planning on returning to Peyia for a holiday next year - probably split the time between Paphos area and some time near to Protaras/Ayia Napa - we've been all over the island, and absolutely loved our time there. If you're available for a Leon next summer, would be good to say hello at the Brewery Bar - I'll be drinking Keo! Fellow Northerner like yourself, although I'm white rose instead of red! 😉

Not been to Neos yet make. Keep meaning to, but just not happened yet.
Hopefully, bump into you next summer, unless I've run out of money 😆 🤣
I like Cyprus but it does have cons. Unbearably hot and humid in the Summer. Imported food is expensive. Barking dogs. Earthquakes. Limited travel options particularly in Winter. They want to join Schengen. But if you can live with those cons, Cyprus is pretty good.
Hi Stevo, thanks for the comment...I can live with those cons, imported food not an issue, barking dogs not had any, earthquakes = 1, weather not an issue.
The list I didn't like about the UK was much bigger
June to August it's hard to even leave your house
Holidays are much different from living here because you have to make the most of every day..
2 months of heavy rain in January and February, better than 10 months in England though 👍🏼
Nice part of the world although i'll stick to where i am......NOT in the UK by the way.
@@AnthonyJones-vk6xqI really love a lot of other islands in Greece 🇬🇷. There are some which would be away from some of the geopolitical stresses. Although their immigration crisis may have changed he situation since the time I was there quite a few years ago. What about Malta 🇲🇹 as an option ?

I've been back and forth between UK and Cyprus since 2008..originally had a place in Kato Paphos, but we bought a new place in Tala pre-covid.
We were lucky to get our MEU1 status before the UK left the European Union, so our costs and the process were less complicated.
Good luck to you, man.
If you ever fancy a pint in Tala give me a shout- especially if you're a fellow Man Utd fan! 😅
@richardmarsden9987 good lad, see you for a pint soon to watch the footy! 🙏
@NuttersInCyprus is always welcome in Tala mate. I'm originally from Gorton, but I moved away from the shit as soon as I could afford to!
Cheers
Thanks Anthony will keep it in mind for when we buy out here 👍
For the cost and ease of removal maybe have a look at the diy shop next time you’re passing.

They had joined the EU then so did not need any visa's etc to live & work there
At the time I worked on maintance at a hotel in Paphos - it was hard work and they wanted you there 24/7 for 600 euro a month -
I went there to work less than in the UK (semi retire) but ended up working harder
I found the food to be the same price if not more expensive than the UK & fuel for car slightly cheaper than the UK (but not by much)
Diesel used to be about 20 cents a litre BEFORE they joined the EU then it shot up
I was planning on retiring there - went out in 2019 - 2020 to sort it out

Good to know, thank you, I will keep that in mind when we get our dogs! 🐕
Bored in the rain or bored in the sun
@@Leah-s6p I lived in Cyprus and it was a six day week, very poorly paid, so moving back to UK meant working less hours for more money.
