- In this video I explain why I left the UK and moved to Cyprus in 2024.
I let you know how much it cost me to move from the UK to Cyprus and how much my monthly living costs are.
Things I forgot to mention...
The cost of the actual immigration application was €140 per person = €560 in total.
Private Health Insurance is something you have to have to get through immigration = €130 per person (I forgot exactly, but it's around that number).
Good on you young man. I go to bed angry & awake angry. UK is a cesspit!
Return to Cyprus just over 3 years... after 47 years in London
@chriscchristodoulou7147 our neighbour Andreas has done the exact same 😀
Left UK 2006 never going back best decision I made . It's a hole .
Cyprus is paradise but unfortunately to seasonal place there’s no options. It’s very difficult to run the business unless you are IT.
@Леликиболик-щ1л it's much more all year round in Paphos. It also depends what you do for a living... hospitality, yes granted, I'd imagine its difficult
@@NuttersInCyprusagree mate the chaps in Paphos in the restaurants said they stay open all year round now due to demand
We’d love to move across but we don’t have the money right now however desperate to get out the UK it’s becoming a joke especially in the south east of England as we get stung the most with tax I’m self employed it’s a constant battle to stay afloat god knows how people who work paye jobs cope on less wages
Too many rules and regulations in Britain now
Way to go! - It's a terrible shame over what's happened to the UK but you are absolutely right in putting yourself and your family first. - As a side note, I wonder what you would find returning to the UK in 10 years time? The trajectory of the country is bonkers. It's not Britain or British anymore. Do you even bother registering to vote in UK elections? So damn sad!
No I don't vote, realistically there are 2 options Tory or Labour, neither party represents me, I think it's a broken system. I just concentrate on progressing myself and my little family and whatever happens around us, I try to navigate best I can.
Gesy medical stuff... government insurance... speak with your GP when you register
@chriscchristodoulou7147 we are not entitled to GESY, we have to have private healthcare which I forgot to mention, it's about €600 per year for all 4 of us!
Whats the name of thr lawyer you used in Cyprus? I contacted a lawyer and they told me need 24,000 to deposit it bank.
Hi Thomas,
How long ago was this when you got this information? Reach out to me on the Nutters in Cyprus Facebook Page and ill talk you through it there.
All your reasons are completely valid , everything you said I feel completely the same about. We love Cyprus it's our favourite holiday destination and we are really considering moving out there in the near future for a safer future for our kids.
Thanks for watching and good luck with your move in the future 🙏
@@NuttersInCypruswhere in Cyprus is best .?
@@kyriakoskaplanis5227 for us Paphos! But we are biased, we live here 😀
@@NuttersInCyprus Thanks for replying
We are coming in couple of weeks to paphos and I keep telling my partner to move to Cyprus
We live in UK and as I said we consider moving to Cyprus and we like paphos especially peyia and Tala and Chlorakas
What about the medical cost in Cyprus?
I believe it’s much better there than in UK
Take care
@kyriakoskaplanis5227 we have private health care its about €150 per person per year, or you can get a proper insurance for about €300-€600 per year
Are a lot of UK people trying to move there now? That's horrible, hope rental prices don't go up because of it.
I moved to Germany to live next to my only brother. My 3 sisters live in Blackheath Orpington and Stroud all in really nice areas of those places. They have very good lives i suppose because they are all very comfortablly off. What keeps them there are their children and grandchildren.
💯 m8 the uk has fallen & only going to get worse, you have done the right thing for you & your family 🙏
Hello
What do you and your wife do for work in Cyprus, how do you earn money to live.
Is this easy or hard? Do you pay Tax in Cyprus
How long did the process take from start to finish.
Many thanks
Graeme
@GraemeMorgan-v5g Hi Graeme, thanks for watching! We are here on pink slip so we don't work in Cyprus.
It's very hard to do, but it's possible.
No, I will recieve my payments as dividends and in Cyprus it's 0% dividend tax.
It took 8 weeks from us making the decision to actually having our feet on the ground. To get through immigration it was probably another 8 weeks.
@@NuttersInCyprus sorry pink slip? What’s that excuse my ignorance ?
@@jackcalder2937 Hello mate, its the type of visa we have. You can come here on pink slip which is a temporary residency, we have to meet the criteria every 12 months and redo our immigration appointment.
How do get the pink slip
@@NuttersInCyprus thank you
good place to leave, but unfortunately no work there
Check out about GESY
Love watching your videos and your family. You are a great Dad and have two lovely boys (and wife) My wife and I bought a place 3 years ago. It's about 20 minutes from our favourite restaurant 'Grande' and we walk past Sugar to get there. We are still stuck with 90/180 days but seeing this video makes me realise how we could go gor residency. Thanks
@graemefletcher thanks Graeme, if you have any questions just ask. If we can help in anyway just let us know!
If you'd prefer to message via Facebook you can private message on their and I'll help best I can.
Sorry you have been unwell. I think that electricity is the biggest bill we get in Cyprus. Water for me is usually about €15 - 20. Council tax bills will arrive pretty soon and I believe they usually have to be paid by the end of December. Road tax renewal is 1st of January for everyone but you can choose to pay it 3 monthly or 6 monthly I believe. What, if anything, are you using for TV.?
Hi Jeanette thank you!
We use Amazon prime, youtube, netflix...we haven't really watched much since we arrived 😀
Hiya, hope you are well? Amazing videos. Can I ask what you both do for work in cyprus? Thanks in advsnce
Hi Richard,
I'm going to make a video today about my work, I've been asked 100s of times, just going to answer it in 1 go. Thanks for watching
Normally the conditions for non eu nationals to move to Cyprus require that you either buy a new property in Cyprus to a certain value and you have a certain income from abroad to cover you and your family which is quite high. So was just wondering how you managed to get clearance from immigration to stay more than 90 days in 180.
I should of watched the whole video, so you have an income from the UK, may ask where is your ongoing annual income of 35k derived from in the UK as you can not work in Cyprus
@@NikO-qs4pc I'm a business consultant, and I have been investing for years.
Id love to return and live in Cyprus, big question what visa type and what about income/jobs, thanks
Hi, do you have a British or EU passport?
Hello mate I got out of uk 2 years ago! For the same reasons. How do you earn money? while living there. Be lucky 😎
Hi Eric, well done you! Where did you move to?
I'm going to make a video about how I support myself as I've been asked 100s of times, I'm just going to nip it in the bud.
Totally agree re uk.. Been on many holidays to Cyprus ❤️love it... Wish you & your family all the best out there.. Enjoy 🤗
Thank you and thank you for watching!
Great video, lots of useful info and weather looks so much better than the uK. Keep them coming.
@@SophieBlairHB1973 thanks for watching Sophie, weather is especially warm today.
Should have arrived in a small boat clsim asylum lol
, im half Cypriot seem a lot your paying, kids will pick up Greek really easy just being around people kids
Yeah the kids are learning, they have been doing their reading books at home. Very happy with their progress!
❤😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great information! Thanks a million! 🙏🥰
@dinopersonal6907 thanks for watching 🙏
What is your tax situation now you are a resident there?
@PNutCyclinginPortugal currently 0% dividend tax. Which beats my old UK situation 😀
When you say you have to declare 35K a year do you mean you have to prove you earn this annually or you have to put this into a Cypriot bank. If this is the case why were you also taxed on it? Also another £10K? Please explain this as attempting desperately to get out of the UK.
What kind of visa do you get and how can you stay there permanently. Does this mean you can work there also? May I ask what you how you support yourselves also? Thanx
Hi Melanie,
I had to show €36k earnings, this is for a family of 4, €28k for me and my wife, then €4k per child.
Yes, I have to prove I earn this annually, as I'm on the Pink Slip which is a temporary residence visa.
The reason I paid tax was, I has to declare the earnings in the UK and show it by way of tax return, P60, P45.
I just needed to show I can support us while we live here.
The €10k deposit into a CY bank can be removed after you have gone through immigration.
However if you have an EU passport there is no criteria, you can simply just move to Cyprus.
With my work I'm just going to make a video as I've been asked 100s of times.
@@NuttersInCyprus thanx. I’m working on an e-commerce shop hoping I can get enough annual income to get out. Portugal on a D7 visa could also be an option. My plan was to leave the UK again. Lived in Israel one year and Amsterdam 10 . Didn’t realise until I lived to Amsterdam just how low the UK’s standard of living was! I didn’t want to leave Amsterdam but due to personal circumstances had to. Been back in the UK 20 years and been miserable ever since. I’m 58 and with my mum getting older at this point as well I felt I needed to stay here. Then I gave up work to care for her the last few years then she died a few months ago sadly. My original plan was to get the hell out of here in old age but of course Brexit happened. Mum needing 24/7 care and Brexit happened about the same time and it was a horrid choice to make. I would’ve got out before the doors closed but chose to care for mum round the clock as she wouldn’t have lasted long in a care home. I’m now feel stuck here.
I’ve never felt right in the UK even from a young age. However mums house/our house is being sold so will be due for smallish inheritance although it has to be split 4 ways. Just trying to see if there are any options open to me still. Well that’s if they don’t bring in double taxation cos then I’d lose half of it and be homeless as well as wouldn’t be able to even buy a small house for myself.
I think you made the right decision moving there. It does take courage to do this especially with a family to consider. I hope it all works out for you and wish you and your family the best of luck x
What is the process can you help us pls.
It's very complicated to explain without knowing more details about your situation
How do you earn a living, do you run a business over there or are you both working if allowed?
@fatwallet13 no we are not allowed, I have a business in the UK and have made investments over the years, I've been asked this question 100s of times, I'm just going to make a video tomorrow about it
@@NuttersInCyprus cool handy for people who are thinking of making the move themselves 👍

@chriscchristodoulou7147 we like the air-conditioning 😆 🤣 although we are currently say with the fan on 😀
Learning Greek ?
@danielkowalczuk2548 yes, we have been doing greek lessons for 12 weeks. Kids do extra lessons after school and go to a Cypriot school
Hiya, love your stuff.
Contemplating a family holiday to Paphos / Coral Bay mid November. Any idea if the weather will still be great around then?
Hello mate, thanks for watching. I'm probably not the best person to answer this as never been here in November. All I know is today is absolutely boiling! Hopefully somebody can answer your question better than me
It’ll be cooler in mid November. The days will be filled with sunshine and blue skies, but temperatures drop to between 24-28 degrees C. Evenings are cooler. Not a bad thing because you’ll sleep better. You’ll be fine in t’s and shorts and still able to swim in the sea and pools, but it’ll begin to get cooler in the mid afternoon. You’ll have a great time!
@@dadoots1551 Great. Just wanted a bit of assurance it would be warm enough to comfortably lay around the pool & our little lad play in it all day.
Thanks, this has been really helpful.
Thanks for the really informative video. Do you plan on staying long term? I assume you will, due to what you've paid out? I only ask as you were previously in Portugal and then returned to England. I hope you had a good weekend in Protaras.
@jamiesandilands1 yes mate, we plan on staying long term. But before I'd even finalised the move here, I was already working on a backup plan. People kept asking are you stressed about the move to Cyprus, but I was already working a potential move to Asia 2 years down the road.
If everything goes wrong with my business, then we are moving to Phillipines or Indonesia, we have never been to either.
But my back up is, we move to Asia, rent a nice house close to a university for a couple £100, then I'll advertise in the UK offering data and Web services.
I'll take the sales calls to secure the work, then I'll hire a couple of local students to work from our house to complete the works and build out a small team.
The above is plan C.
We're currently on plan A and I have a Plan B also in play in the background.
@NuttersInCyprus fantastic planning and very safe. I really admire your decision to move. Looking forward to continuing to follow your journey.
@@jamiesandilands1 🙏🤝
Is this you tom?
Yes mate, how's it going... Now this is random!
Is this North Cyprus as that is where we would like live there, had enough of the UK ourselves.
It's south I think, but do look at the north it's well worth thinking about.
Im hoping to go to the North myself 👍
Hi Kieron,
Yes this is south :) good luck with your future move!
Hiya mate - just wondering what you do professionally? I think that's probably the main sticking point for people of a similar age moving over to somewhere like Cyprus, how they can continue working and earning enough to pay the bills. All the best
@realisticallyfit I'm a business consultant. I learnt how to be very organised, then I meet alot of people who have businesses who are looking to scale or they say things like "I'm always busy, I don't get a minute to myself" I then put a system in place for them that gives them more free time.
One thing everyone is short of is time. If someone has money, but no time, they will pay good money to get their time back!
@@NuttersInCyprus Nice one mate, sounds like exactly the kind of thing you can offer anywhere with an internet connection - don't blame you for choosing Peyia taking that into account! We lived there for a year back in 2012 - in a little villa opposite the Brewery bar and next to the old footy stadium - great memories, amazing lifestyle. Like you I could work remotely. Hardest thing was keeping myself out of the bars when everybody else is on holiday and that's just your day to day life - tough! Like you, was also a member of Tower Fitness, say hi to Andreas for us. Take care
@realisticallyfit cheers mate! What was your reason for leaving?
Alot of people have said the same thing about hard to stay out the bars, I used to be that guy in Portugal, but the kids and a little bit of success made me sort myself out and focus on family and an opportunity that I seen.
@@NuttersInCyprus We planned to live there full time, but then my girlfriend (now wife) became pregnant and we made the tough decision to come back to be close to family. We returned to Cyprus in 2014 when my little girl was just under 2 and got married at a villa in Lower Peyia, not far from Neos Sports Club if you've ever been? We're planning on returning to Peyia for a holiday next year - probably split the time between Paphos area and some time near to Protaras/Ayia Napa - we've been all over the island, and absolutely loved our time there. If you're available for a Leon next summer, would be good to say hello at the Brewery Bar - I'll be drinking Keo! Fellow Northerner like yourself, although I'm white rose instead of red! 😉
@realisticallyfit we did the same mate. Emily wanted to go back to the UK from Portugal to be closer to family!
Not been to Neos yet make. Keep meaning to, but just not happened yet.
Hopefully, bump into you next summer, unless I've run out of money 😆 🤣

@@blueybarnes9442 I've been asked this question 100s of times, I'm just going to make a detailed video tomorrow morning.
Thanks for the detailed insight into the costs. You could have moved and settled in Turkey for a lot lot less. But Cyprus is not a bad choice if you cab afford it. The most important thing is the income. If you can continue to generate income, then it's all good. The UK has long stopped being a place to live, and getting worse by the day. I left it in the early 2000s and never regretted it.
@Seeker-p1q yes agreed about the UK. I had been to Turkey years ago, but never really fancied living there! I looked at Bulgaria years ago, but settled on Portugal.
@@NuttersInCyprus Istanbul has some gorgeous, very modern and posh areas. But unfortunately the agents either don't show them or have no clue about them. And outside those areas, it wouldn't impress me either. It's more international as in food and clothes and also far more entertainment options than Cyprus. You're also far more connected. Life can be far cheaper than in Cyprus. The weather is also quite like the UK, i.e. nice and cool with rains and greenery. It gives you a feeling of being in Europe. But most important thing is the cost. Cyprus is very expensive, everything is in Euros. Istanbul despite all the inflation is still far cheaper when I look at the prices you showed on your channel. You can always take a look at Istanbul again. But very happy to see you get out of the UK. Unless there is a revolution, that place will keep going down with the sort of people they are letting in and importing.
Turkey ? Yuck
