Great vid, I ran into this problem with my ports not showing up. If you don't see "PORTS" in Device Manager set your cursor on View and enable the "Show Hidden Devices". Ports should now show up.

I ordered YDS software and cables at Amazon for $40. Installation went fine except I could not configure the com port. Tried showing hidden devices in Device Manager did not work. Reviewed your video again very carefully and was able to set port to com1.

Update: Finally got around to installing this on my Windows 10 laptop. Kept getting an install error. Needed to navigate to Settings, WIndows security, virus and threat protection, realtime protection. Turn this off, it's blocking folder access. You can turn it on after install.

Thank you Jeff. Another great video. I have a 2011 AR-240 and has been running great until this past weekend. The port engine initially turned over but was beeping with a CEL. Shut it off and after verifying everything again, it refused to crank after a few more attempts. In addition, my lanyard broke so I was only able to test by pulling it up manually. My starboard seems to work fine even with the missing lanyard, also checked the kill switches by the clean out ports, no issues there either. I went back the next day and the port did crank so I am hopeful it is something electronic. I am awaiting the arrival of the YDS and will see what it reports. I will report the error if I am able to pull it but do you have any thoughts on this? Thank you again for all your help and knowledge sharing. Be safe and God Bless!

Confidence is high I got the right connector as it lit up the dongle but it didn't turn off the Waverunner connect screen like I thought. What I'm getting is a "system file not found "SE1023.dbf" message which leads me to think it's an install issue...but I've installed 3 times now and it appears to be fine until I try to connect via the hardware. Any theories?

Hi Jeff, If you're still monitoring this site, I'm hoping you can help me out with your YDS software. I downloaded it using your video but can't get it to communicate with my 2012 Yamaha SX210 (twin engine jet boat). I hook up to the diagnostic ports behind the helm. They are labeled port diagnostic and star diagnostic. I keep getting the error message "can't communicate between ECM and PC." Per video: I changed the serial port to Com1. Updated the drivers. I even tried disconnecting the tachometer, as one person suggested. The eBay person I bought the connection from sent me a new connector but is out of ideas. Keeps giving me the error message. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? Thanks Larry
I have no idea. Just remember you have to bump the motor over to turn on the ecm. The last thing I would do is take it to the dealer and see if their yds will work. If it does then it's your pc's usb port or the cable.

Fuel pump cycles. I suspect the crank sensor but wanted to verify before pulling engine to change it out. I unplugged the crank position sensor from both engines and cranked. I read 10 DVA ac volts on good engine, zero volts on no start engine. Last season there was an overheating issue on this now no start engine. Your thoughts? Thank you again!
We got the software to communicate but no codes. One engine on our jet boat won’t turn over and we expected the software to at least give us a hint, if not explicitly inform us as to why.

Make sure you bump the engine over to turn on the ECM or else it wont communicate.

Welcome to working on engines. I wish the computer would just tell us what is wrong all time but it doesn't work like.
