Phenomenal video very well laid out and explained. VTOL for Dummies!

Hello Jeff, thank you for your video series on the conversion of the AtomRC Dolphin into a VTOL aircraft! I did this conversion myself and used your videos as instructions. I would never have managed it without you. I flew in manual mode today during the maiden flight and my Dolphin flew like it was on rails! All your setup tips were spot on. All you needed were a few small tweaks to make the Dolphin fly as well as it does without the conversion. The most important changes were: 1. move the CG much further forwards. 2. a folding rear prop 3. a stronger ESC that can hold the rear prop. I hope you don't give up on the project, I would really appreciate a follow-up video.

Would those nacelles work on a Talon GT Rebel?

Hi Jeff. Another frustrated flyer, this time using the similar ZOHD Dart XL. I've had a lot of success converting my LOS planes to FPV, taking them off and landing on wheels, but I thought I'd get more flying "flexibility" and longer flying times with a wing. I've had the ZOHD for 5 months and launched it 5 times using INAV (7.0) Autolaunch and each time it's gone straight into the ground - and somehow the ZOHD is still intact. I've asked several people for help, adjusted the settings, but the motor never seems to spin up enough (I'm at 1900 max). I took it out of Autolaunch and the motor spins up at least 500 rpm faster and pulls the plane much harder, but I have yet to try to fly it without Autolaunch. I copied your settings, and they are different, but only slightly. I'd sure like to get Autolaunch to work, but without some significant changes, I really don't want to try it again. Any ideas?

I kinda skimmed through, but in Vtol Mode can still control it like a regular drone? Rotate, drifting, etc?

No, you want to use PETG or ABS, because PLA(+) is the worst choice for any functional parts. It's fine for decorative parts that will never see and impact or strain, but just because everybody started printing with PLA, and it was then slightly improved to become PLA+, doesn't mean it's the right choice for everything. PETG prints to easy these days, that there's really no justification to not use it. It's also in the goldilocks-zone between PLA and ABS regarding its glass transition temperature, with the benefit of impact resistance and most other properties that would usually require ABS. Just ditch PLA already, there's rarely a reason to use it (except for LW-PLA, maybe).

80% throttle only 65 to 75 km/H, is it normal for double powerfull T-Motor? Just asking, because i see other TH-camrs running 75km/H and up using les throttle

I followed your settings and the plane took off well and then just rolled to the left after the motors reved up to 2000. Rolled and nose dived into the geound. Tried again at 1750 same thing. I made a post on the facebook group with some videos. Can you take a look? Ben Anderson. Atom rc dolohin owners group. I need some help or i may just bag this whole wing idea i had.

You should use swiveling/folding props (don't know the actual term, sorry!) Like the ones that DJI drones use. They will fold back in the airflow during horizontal flight without needing any sorg of ESC brake!

100% recommend using the correct sealant on the impeller housing, it's there to help prevent corrosion between the housing and the pressed in stainless liner and prolong it's life, without it you can expect the housing and liner to react with each other as water ingress will be inevitable.

Hey Jeff love all your boat videos man. I just bought my first boat this summer Yamaha sx210 and I’m trying to get my engine display through NMEA 2000. Very challenging as Yamaha doesn’t make a conversion kit. I have a couple of questions for you maybe you can guide me in the right direction Behind my help where the 2 engine connectors are is a white white that is labeled N2K (this past weekend I purchased the service e-manual from Yamaha site) and it doesn’t show what that wire is for. Do you know what those wires are for? And is there a way I can get a better service manual where it actually show me all the schematics on my boat? I’m located in Oswego il and go to the Illinois river all the time btw

Hi, im trying to print this exact model but when I get to the the wing cura isn't including the internal supports of the wing and only slices it to have a single wall outer layer. Then when the print finishes its all wavy and flimsy. How do I get cure to make the correct internal structure? The A,B,C and D profiles are no longer on the website either. Was I suppose to load the 3mf files in fusion then export them as STL or directly load them into cura? Thanks... Also another problem the alerions are joined to the wing and wont move after printed

I have a question about the nozzle/port/tube thing that sticks up from the top (engine side) of the straight thruster nozzle. What is that? On my 2023 SX250, the starboard nozzle has a plug glued in, and on the port side, there is no plug (but some glue residue). Should I plug that nozzle?

Love the ground effects in this video. How does the Dolphin compare with a singe motor? I would think the performance other than climb would be comparable with a lot more battery life.

The rear motor needs to tilt as well.

Does this apply to a 2020 AR240?

My YDS software worked fine on Windows 10. Was forced to upgrade to Windows 11. Software runs normally. COM1 is like it was before. YDS can communicate with ECU because I was able to run a static test. However, when I go to monitor engine, I get "Database reading was unsuccessful". I reinstalled the software and installed the database as described in this video but I still get that message. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Hi Jeff, Can you compare this build to 6S build ? Like lessons learned... As I understand 6S had some issues and that is why you choose 4S

The wood decks in most manufacturers is in squares. My Grady is the same. The purpose is that squares give the deck some spring and flex (the whole boat has some flex as well) that a solid piece does not. In sure your new single piece of wood feels more rigid.

I have been experimenting with flying from inside the car as well. Dji o3 and goggles integra. Boxer with diversity. Works really well! What is the max range you have achieved? Also any other tips you nace learned?
