I owned this game as a kid, it’s 100% in the game
Being able to hold enemies over your head and having some of them actually help you was such a cool underplayed feature in this game that I wish would return.
I had never ever tried any of these, it's blowing my mind how many of them have effects you can use: the umbrella blob still works as an umbrella, the pointy fish keeps firing points, the sand hills break apart and fall out of Kirby's hands 😂 so cool!
Didn't Kirby Star Allies basically have this as it's whole gimmick?
@@cruncyart It let some of the enemies by playable, but what I'm talking about is letting kirby use the enemies as a make shift ability on the fly
@@Doctortots You can piggyback on the enemies, bascially using them as a makeshift ability on the fly as you just described
@@cruncyart I get where you are coming from, but this is different as in K64, the abilities are unique to that enemy, as in they aren't traditional abilities that you can get by eating an enemy. Like being able to glide, shoot above you, ect.
To put it another way, it would be more similar if in Star Allies, you could piggy back on an enemy that Kirby couldn't get an ability from, and while doing that you get a unique attack/movement option.

That “Kirby Gen One-er” gag at like 7:10 lands even better when you remember just like how Gen 1 Pokémon were also stupidly simple (Just some eggs, a seal named ‘Seel’, Voltorb) some enemies from the first kirby game include: A normal hermit crab, a featureless cannon, & an apple tree going :^0

I love that some of these combo abilities inspired later abilities like cutter and fire being elementally fused sword. Double spark gives something like ESP. You even got some old ones back with a spin on it like cutter and bomb giving ninja.
And then you have just straight up Darth Maul from Star Wars and a fridge. Man I love Kirby.
This game has volcano fire, kinda.
Also, ice/cutter probably being a precursor to the general skating movement of Ice in future games

The ability to combine abilities honestly looks like one of the coolest gimmicks in the series, honestly makes you kind of forget that there are only 7 base abilities in this
But imagine if Kirby took the step into 3D then rather than only recently

Not even 10 seconds in, and the mentions of blood and violence had me thinking for a moment that Fail would be reacting to that one Kirby analogue horror series.
I don't get why someone made an analogue horror series for Kirby - sure the series is cute, but it's already got a lot of disturbing implications and imagery. It feels like making an analogue horror series for Bloodborne or something like that.

@@levidinn7500 I feel like with bloodborne its already disturbing and horror enough, but something like kirby that is only slightly disturbing on its own opens up a lot more potential for creative ways to make it scary.

It's so good to see someone so genuinely excited about Kirby 64 and the abilities in it 💜 (I may have played this so much as a kid that I have all of the combinations memorized. Please do rock/cutter and try it more than once. I can't promise you won't be disappointed, but I can promise it'll be funny)

I genuinely had no idea enemies had different effects if you raised them after inhaling them. It's such a cool attention to detail that I'm shocked not a single puzzle for a crystal uses it.

The fish shooter would have been AMAZING for the killer whale bossfight (before it was more of a grind if you didn't have a good ability going in).
I have played this game countless times over the past 20 years. I've played it on the N64, the Wii when it in the collection, I revisited it every few years. And with all this, I NEVER knew you could hold enemies above your head and have them do things.
