@@DoctorER Question! Have you ever seen the case of the father that got his entire faced mauled by a bear but survived?😳 I remember the son even recorded him still barely speaking but you couldnt even tell how he could!
Props to the editor going the extra yard with the medical visuals/animations, they were all visually consistent with one another, but was worth all the tea & coffee it must've taken to put it all together. Good job.
Here's an idea for a new series: zoologists react to animals in games. Whether they're depicted correctly, is their behavior natural and can they do the things they do.
I really want to see their reaction to behaviors of tigers in Far Cry 3 since it's absolutely inaccurate. First, when a tiger has a sight on you in game, you can just turn your back and run away (in real life, this will get you killed since tigers takes this as a sign of showing you your weakness, so they'll charge and maul your ass. They are more likely to just stay and observe you if you maintain eye contact with them). Second, if the tiger does chase you, you can just dive in the nearby bodies of water and the tiger will follow you into water, and somehow dies of drowning after getting in knee-deep of water (in real life this will also kill you since tiger is well known to be a very good swimmers. One of the best swimmer in the big cats family) Third, whenever you're in close proximity of tiger (especially if you're unaware of it), sometimes you can hear the tiger's roar as a warning that there's a tiger nearby (This is inaccurate, since tigers are known to stalk their prey, keep a low profile and not announcing their presence until they strike, which if applied in-game, you'll hear tiger's roar the moment it mauls your sorry ass) And that's not counting ALL other animals in the same game (or the other far cry games) which is mostly VERY INACCURATE about how they behave
Keep this guy forever. He is irreplaceable. He is actually teaching with everything his says and not just giving opinions or laughing about the craziness.
Man I love when Doctor Wagner's in these videos! It's like he knows the perfect bit of the clip to focus on and explain. He's not just sharing general info, but info that's both very relevant to the clip, and answers that understand the medium as a video game and fill the bridge of fiction and reality.
The bad guy at the end didn't die immediately after Lara stabs him in the heart. He has a monologue with her and you get to choose to either to finish him or let him fall to a burning pit.
Yeah honestly found the reboot crazy silly/far fetched for things like that (where it counts to do things somewhat realistic so it feels like there are actual stakes for the character)
Honestly, the videos with this guy have been fucking gold for me, because he teaches me a lot of information that's valuable in my fictional writing. Knowing more about the type of injuries my characters might sustain from trauma and how their bodies would react and having it explained in such a clear and concise way is a godsend. I know he reads a lot of these comments, so if you're reading this, Dr. Wagner, thank you so much.
I’ve never noticed how much we have to suspend our disbelief when playing Tomb Raider games 😅. Also, it’s amazing how much the body will fight to save itself before it no longer can. The human body is pretty cool.
I learned a few things watching this video. Thank you so much for this amazing content. The bit about people drowning and being dead for an hour (but getting resuscitated, because they drowned in cold water) blew my mind!

I love how the doctor talks about the different fluids in the eye and the types of hematomas in the brain. I initially thought it was lacrimal fluid but those are for tears. However, I knew immediately that the amount of damage the rocks could cause on the brain can lead to a subdural hematoma or a subarachnoid hemorrhage due to the destruction of the Circle of Willis. This could also lead to the transfer of the corroded artery from the dura to the pia mater in the brain leading to a subarachnoid hemorrhage as the corroded artery crosses the pituitary gland. In addition, I enjoy the talk about the amount of pressure blood has on adrenal glands when the abdominal aortic area is in that amount of pressure. Specifically when your body is in that amount of stress, your hypothalamus will release cortisone from your body to help with the stress and autonomically it will activate sympathetic division resulting in the aortic cavity of the left ventricle to release adrenal glands throughout the major blood vessels to innervate the process or whatever stressful moment your experiencing. Tell me doctor if I'm wrong as I'm only in high school. Love the video.
Gameology has some amazing reactors. This is my favorite channel to learn things about life, from video games. Who said video games can't teach ya nothing 😅 I love that they know that games have to embellish for the sake of entertainment.
Oof. About 5 weeks ago, my wife and son went sledding at a huge hill in the park by our house. Their first time down the hill, they hit a bump and went a bit off course towards some hay bails. Unfortunately, those bails had been rained on for a couple of days right before it dropped to about 5°F and we got around 10" of snow. They were basically reinforced ice blocks and my wife pushed her left leg in front of our son. He got thrown off a few feet but was completely fine. She, however, took all the force and barely moved. She ended up shattering her tibia, snapped the fibula, and had stress fractures by her knee and ankle. She got some shiny new hardware inside her leg and is still unable to bear weight for a few more weeks. Seeing these hits/falls seems a lot more impactful to me right now lol
I wish you had shown him Ana. I would have like to hear him to tell us what illness she propably have with her red eyes and coughing. Its propably cancer but it would have been interessting.
I recently saw a video of a man who got his face bitten off by a bear and he survived. The video is gory as hell and the guy is conscious and talking while his face is hanging off his skull
Listening to his explanation about drowning reminds me of _NGE_ where the characters have to breathe a hyperoxygenated liquid called LCL whilst piloting their giant mech robots, because it helps to cushion them should the robot get hit by anything. They make a big deal about the LCL fluid smelling like blood. Despite the setting, a lot of NGE is at least semi-realistic, so I'm wondering if there could be a hyperoxygenated fluid that didn't wash out the alveoli surfactant that we could breathe. I imagine it would be very uncomfortable even if it did work.
Fun fact:being choked and being strangled are two different things !When you are being choked\choking ,it means your air supply is being cut off ,whilst if you are being strangled that would imply blood flow to your head is being cut off. Who knew...
Fun fact about bears : Bears are omnivores with slow metabolism meaning they'll probably cripple you with an attack but maybe leave you alive. Just to come back later, bite off some of your shoulder or leg and leave again. They got time if they're not that hungry in that moment. Carnivores like tigers, wolves and so on want to kill fast to save energy (typical neck bite). So if you get attacked by a bear you should wish that he's very hungry and kills you fast 😁 It's the same with most omnivores like pigs where you can watch yourself getting eaten but most of them are not big enough to be a serious threat like a damn grizzly.
I want to see a survival game where when you get hypothermic, the objectives dynamically change (which many do), BUT, instead of "find shelter" and "make a fire", it says things like "find a rockpile to hide in", "stalk a deer - food is heat", "find a freshwater source", "shed uneccesary weight" and stuff like that to reflect the confusion you suffer from.
I learned a lot about drawing in this one, the colder the water the better that explains why people who fell through ice can be brought back more often.
My grandfather died of triple A. Apparently it's hereditary, but luckily treatable. Doctors said he had a 10% chance to make it to the hospital. He did. Then he had a 10% chance to survive the operation. He did, but never woke up. Died from the injury a couple days later. He basically fell asleep in his chair and never woke up. In that situation, death was a better outcome. He was a proud man. He hated being on oxygen. I can't imagine how he would feel about having to poop through a bag. The triple A itself basically killed half of his internal organs. Scary stuff
Had a dude in my community get mauled by the same grizzly bear twice and lived through the experience. Dude apparently tried to play dead but ended up screaming and thrashing around when the bears teeth starting puncture his arms and legs, which caused the bear to maule him some more.
The cold therapy and bringing people back when they’ve been “dead” for so long really is incredible. I wonder what they will be able to do with this in the future

My mom once made me laugh while I was taking a sip of coffee. I choked on it so bad, I thought that was it for me. I was trying to cough it out but no sound came out. I fell on my knees and my mom first thought I was being dramatic before realizing that I was choking. I ended up okay and was able to cough eventually when she kept hitting my back, but I had red spots on my face near my eyes for a little while.
Years ago when I was in school, we had a tennis match inside the gym and someone went too close to another classmate. That one guy who got too close, ended-up hitting the kid behind the head with the side of the tennis racket. The kid didn't faint or anything, but his eyeball was completely red. That scared me and I am still shocked just thinking about it today. The kid never returned to school, so I have no idea what happened to him. I wonder if he lost his eye, if it was blood, or some kind of side effect, that was traumatizing as heck. :(
