My favourite was honestly rise of the tomb raider, just a lot more enjoyable mechanics and features were in that game, as well as an awesome story and awesome graphics.
Baffles me why people keep saying this when it's not like it's an unheard of precedent. Let's try another example. Gordon Freeman, MIT graduate goes for his first day at a new job at a research facility. First experiment goes wrong. Gordon pops out like he's Rambo all of a sudden. *no one ever thinks this is in any way strange or unusual*
The apartment in Rise of the TR is Lara's, not her father's. You can see newspapers about the Yamatai incident (that took place years after Richard's death)
I'll never get over how they wrote Sam out after TR2013 (I think there was a comic where she turned evil for no real reason). IMO she had the best dynamic with Lara.
They changed Lara's sidekick to show a different side of her character. That despite being highly intelligent and a total badass, she's still a woman. She gets too emotional at times and Jonah is there to knock some sense into her. I actually love the way Jonah talk to her like she's his bratty little sister. He's the male figure she needs especially after Roth's gone.
Basically, part of Himiko’s soul stuck with Sam, where the two would constantly battle. Eventually, Himiko took over after Sam was institutionalized for rash behavior, where Himiko killed a nurse and escaped. Trinity then tracked her down, but Lara got to her first. Lara then trapped Himiko’s soul in a special mirror (don’t remember the name) and I’m pretty sure Sam died from the whole ordeal.
@@jackschwartz1750 dude no, Lara saved Sam and banished Himiko forever. Sam is still alive and kicking, although is recovering. Lara told Sam's mum to take her somewhere safe. Sam was even mentioned in shadow.
@@joshspinks9792 No doubt, gameplay-wise they have the most satisfying gameplay mechanics of this generation plus the inclusive of high octane intensive moments. i seriously loved this trilogy just hope they comeback with the 4th part asap, btw the origin trilogy is awsome hope the next trilogy is equally good. =)

If memory serves me right there were two versions of Lara depending on which console you played it on. The first version she looked scared and worried while the second version it looks like she had a facelift. I think she looks the worst in the 3rd one to be honest.
@@TitanSubZero15 Are you talking about the first game? She has a more young, innocent look in the original edition and a more mature, fierce appearance in the Definitive Edition.
It would contradict the stealth element of the game. Besides, nobody actually does that. It is impractical and an inefficient way to kill especially where ammo is scarce. Good shooters fire with two hands 98% of the time in any case, for stability and control. Maybe it's just me, but I don't want this new Lara to be another Hollywood cliche.

I'm currently on shadow of the tomb raider. Just before Laura eavesdrops on the conversation. I must say. This trilogy has been some of the best games I've played in a long time. I love a good action/adventure, single player game. Great Job putting the timeline together. BRAVO!!

You forgot to mention what happens in the canon Dark Horse comics set inbetween each game. Some very key plot points happen, and they also explain the absence of characters such as Sam from future entries.
@@viniciusferrari2653 You really don't need any of that stuff because barely any of it is referenced at all in the games honestly just the games is all you need to have a complete adventure. The comics and books are side adventures that only contradict what happens in the main games. But if you want to know anyway let me know and i can help you find what you need.
There was a book released between Tomb Raider and Rise of, called The Ten Thousand Immortals, which is an important piece of the canon. Why is it not mentioned?
They haven't mentioned also about a lot of comics, novel Path to Apocalypse, and the events in Blood Ties DLC takes place during Rise, not after Rise. Very bad video, thumb down.

@@sirpizo555 I tried to play the first ever TR one but the controls where something I was never used to and the game would randomly crash oftenly so I just didnt bother playing the other ones
Your Narrative is beautiful. I'm retired at 67 and just bought all Tomb Raider games on Steam. I built my own pc and will definitely have fun with this series.

@@Poosay19 True and shadow goes on sale all the time. DO NOT pay a cent over $30 for the full edition, shadow is nowhere near as good as the first two. 2013 = 8/10 Rise = 9/10 Shadow = 7/10
I hope they go back to original games again with full blown re-release and post-mortem continuation of the story. Bringing back the polygon like looks and original storyline should be priority. Being honest now - the best new graphics is not the direction we should always go. There is certain fun and feel to badly looking square like games, and I find the whole redesign of original Lara almost offensive.
I really hope they release another one soon. My favourite has gotta be shadow of the tomb raider, the graphics and the other visuals are amazing and the tombs were done well and the storyline accelerated at a good pace. I've grown up playing video games, especially tomb raider and I'm on my third time replaying shadow. Definitely gonna buy the next one if they make it

Wow I have completely the opposite pretty much, The first game is the best and she looks by far the best in that one. Rise was the worst and she looks worse in both the sequels. Idk why they changed her looks so much between them.
bruh, the eyes went derpy, the nose, the lips, the face in general, everything was turned uglier for "reasons"(we all know which). the one in the reboot of 2013, looked actually British this time while looking similar to the iconic Lara Croft from the Legend timeline/trilogy the covert art for Rise of the Tomb Raider showed that same version only older, more mature and serious looking, she looked STUNNING and badass ...then the Rise and Shadow sequels came out and they turned her into some Paki look-alike while still promoting the game with the old cover(scummy marketting) and it wasn't until much later that they changed it to look like the in game character(sort of since they still made it look better than the actual in-game character) and the old wallpapers/promo covert art are still floating around the internet now but they are hard to find lmao
I got all three games in a single bundle for $20. I love that I’m experiencing all this for the first time. I really enjoyed part 1. Currently playing part 2 rise of the tomb raider.
nah she is pretty anyways in the first tomb raider she looked pretty asian or kazakh in the second she looked more greek, turkish and english which is better cause she is european

Rise and Shadow look awful, they flattened all her feminine features and made her look plain, 2013 Reboot got it right and Definitive Edition got it even BETTER, actually looking like a next gen Lara Croft from the Legends trilogy. If they are going to link this trilogy with the Legends one, idk what they're gonna do, they're gonna have to update these older games with a new look(the 2013 DE look) and then stick to it to for the newer games. Cause a lot of us were teens growing up playing Tomb Raider Legend/Anniversary/Underworld and the last thing we want is to see our memories of our video game crush, be stepped and pissed on as they turn her into a...idkwtf.

I've loved Tomb Raider since Tomb Raider 3, and the new trilogy is great but it makes me sad to see a whole group of people who love Lara, yet have never played in Croft manor and shot at Winston wearing a target or locked him in the freezer. Y'all missed out on some good times

2013 was my first introduction to Tomb Raider and Lara Croft! I had only heard of her but never really dived into it until these games. I absolutely love them. Im an explorer when it comes to games and i love finding the stories, journals, riches and everything throughout each game. It finally feels like theres an incentive to my exploring. I play for hours looking for everything.

The first one was great. Rise had fantastic gameplay, but it left a bit to be desired as far as the story goes, and I didn't particularly care for the redesign of Lara and Jonah. I really hoped shadow would take the story back to a similar style to the first one, but it strayed even farther away than rise did. IDK if they will make another one, but if they do I hope the character design and story go back to the original 2013 style.

If they ever decide to make another Tomb Raider with this storyline, they should develop her character into the likeness of the original. And they should bring back other characters like Sam.
I don't get why they had to change her face. Just because voice actors are changed doesn't mean you automatically have to change character faces. I think Kara looks the best in 2013 TR. In Rise and Shadow I think her face is too round.
I'm 10 years late to play the Trilogy and I'm honestly happy with the walkthroughs.🤣 Currently on SOTTR after finishing the Tomb Raider and ROTTR. Bought the bundle on Steam, btw.🥰
I don't get why her character model changed so much. In direct comparison, especially in the cutscenes, I like the first one the most (0:05). In Shadow she looks way different and is more chubby... should be the other way around when you think of the aging process.
Lara Croft's mother did not die in a flight accident! The plane crashed, and Lara found a portal. Lara accidently activated it and her mother went through it! The portal led to Avalon where her mother died! It happens in the game Tomb Raider Legend!
Um, I'm pretty sure the apartment at the beginning of Rise is where Lara is living at that time. Why would it belong to Richard? Who died 11 years ago..? Makes no sense when it's establishment Richard very much lived at Croft Manor before he was killed.
You missed the comics ! They are canon. I came for those 😭 great video though! I've played the games so much that I basically narrating your video ^^ you blew my mind though with the DLC on Babayagua, the virus, and the manor!
I'm pretty sure the Blood Ties DLC happens between Lara's expeditions to Syria and Siberia. The clue is when it unlocks the first time you play the game (you can't play it until after the Syria section, and Lara goes back to the manor after her Syria trip and before going to Siberia in the main story).
Just finished shadow of the tomb raider...I Reaally enjoyed the game though the story didn't grab me at all. Specially at the end it lost me completely, lots of things are way off story wise but the action sequences kept me atthe edge of my chair. Good job andThanks for the video !
One thing about the writing that always bugged me is how OBSESSED she was with Sam, the entire first game centered around her hero complex with her, then *poof* no more sam in Rise or Shadow, with barely a mention in the pause menu's recordings. I get that the comics expound on it, but that's just lazy to me. Not everyone read them, so they just sort of dropped the ball on exploring their tumultuous friendship further. They traded Sam out for Jonah which was also like "why?" when he wasn't SUPER important to Lara in the first game. Meh.
They probably didn't include it because that material really isn't essential to the main games, none of it is ever mentioned. Plus the comics and books present contradictory information anyway.
6:33 it would have been nice if all the pick-up items turned to spirts and helped you kill Himiko at the end. I played the Tomb Raider (2013) hardcore and finished in 4 days; the ending felt like an afterthought.
I just played the games for the first time last week and I loved them, I’ve never been a gamer and these are actually the very first games I’ve ever played, other than Mario when I was a kid. I powered through the first two games super fast, took me like a week to complete both. Now I’m trying to enjoy SOTTR more, I’m trying to stop and explore more, to really take in the game and it’s surroundings. The jungle in Peru is gorgeous, my favourite world so far in the trilogy.
I know the developers said otherwise during promotions for Rise, but the games actually take place in the year they were released in, as has always been the case for the series. There's a newspaper dated November 2015 in Rise and some tombstones in one of Shadow's DLC with the year 2018 on them.
Lara in 2013 was pretty .. Lara in ROTTR is stunning but Lara in Shadow is kinda weird looking.. she looks like a kind of cross between Karen Carpenter and Natalie Portman. Still love the game though.
Rise of the Tomb Raider was the best in the Trilogy. I was bummed after playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider. For some reason, they didn't really pick up from the cliffhanger ending in the previous game. It's like they written a new story with only references from the past like Trinity but no real follow-through on who killed Ana and Lord Croft.
Well I for one sure hope we get regular Lara Croft again now that we're caught up to the original timeline. I just wanna do a corkscrew flip over a big angry tiger and shoot it with my dual pistols in high definition. Enough struggling, let's be cool and sassy again.
Amelia croft was never found. So its speculation that she was dead. The tomb her father built. Had a sarcophagus that was completely sealed. Her body assumed Inside. But that wasnt the case. She may be alive. It's also hinted if you pay attention that trinity has. her
Not sure whom they hired to write shadow of tomb raider plot, but it was the best in my opinion. The relationship with other NPCs, character development, the facial details captured from acting was great, love it. Side missions had crappy writing though

The problem with those comics and books is that it has tons of continuity errors and unexplained plot holes or contradictory content.

My favourite has gotta be shadow of the tomb raider, the graphics and the other visuals are amazing and the tombs were done well and the storyline accelerated at a good pace. I've grown up playing video games, especially tomb raider and I'm on my third time replaying shadow. Definitely gonna buy the next one if they make it

Rise is still the best of the three and it was also my first TR game.
I loved all three games, they kept getting better each time and Lara got prettier as well! I enjoyed the games a lot. I can't wait for another game

Wow I have completely the opposite pretty much, The first game is the best and she looks by far the best in that one. Rise was the worst and she looks worse in both the sequels. Idk why they changed her looks so much between them.
bruh, the eyes went derpy, the nose, the lips, the face in general, everything was turned uglier for "reasons"(we all know which).
the one in the reboot of 2013, looked actually British this time while looking similar to the iconic Lara Croft from the Legend timeline/trilogy
the covert art for Rise of the Tomb Raider showed that same version only older, more mature and serious looking, she looked STUNNING and badass
...then the Rise and Shadow sequels came out and they turned her into some Paki look-alike while still promoting the game with the old cover(scummy marketting) and it wasn't until much later that they changed it to look like the in game character(sort of since they still made it look better than the actual in-game character) and the old wallpapers/promo covert art are still floating around the internet now but they are hard to find lmao

2013 Reboot got it right and Definitive Edition got it even BETTER, actually looking like a next gen Lara Croft from the Legends trilogy.
If they are going to link this trilogy with the Legends one, idk what they're gonna do, they're gonna have to update these older games with a new look(the 2013 DE look) and then stick to it to for the newer games. Cause a lot of us were teens growing up playing Tomb Raider Legend/Anniversary/Underworld and the last thing we want is to see our memories of our video game crush, be stepped and pissed on as they turn her into a...idkwtf.

Actually Trinity was mentioned in the 2013 game. It was mentioned in 2 documents after finding all the GPSs
It was also mentioned like 25-30% of the way through the main when the first rescue plane came to yamatai. It was a trinity plane.

2013 was my first introduction to Tomb Raider and Lara Croft! I had only heard of her but never really dived into it until these games. I absolutely love them. Im an explorer when it comes to games and i love finding the stories, journals, riches and everything throughout each game. It finally feels like theres an incentive to my exploring. I play for hours looking for everything.

The first one was great. Rise had fantastic gameplay, but it left a bit to be desired as far as the story goes, and I didn't particularly care for the redesign of Lara and Jonah. I really hoped shadow would take the story back to a similar style to the first one, but it strayed even farther away than rise did. IDK if they will make another one, but if they do I hope the character design and story go back to the original 2013 style.

If they ever decide to make another Tomb Raider with this storyline, they should develop her character into the likeness of the original. And they should bring back other characters like Sam.
I don't get why they had to change her face. Just because voice actors are changed doesn't mean you automatically have to change character faces. I think Kara looks the best in 2013 TR. In Rise and Shadow I think her face is too round.

I don't get why her character model changed so much. In direct comparison, especially in the cutscenes, I like the first one the most (0:05). In Shadow she looks way different and is more chubby... should be the other way around when you think of the aging process.
But am I the only one who thinks Lara was much prettier in 2013? I don't quite like the way they designed her face later on in the Shadow

Lara Croft's mother did not die in a flight accident! The plane crashed, and Lara found a portal. Lara accidently activated it and her mother went through it! The portal led to Avalon where her mother died! It happens in the game Tomb Raider Legend!

Um, I'm pretty sure the apartment at the beginning of Rise is where Lara is living at that time. Why would it belong to Richard? Who died 11 years ago..? Makes no sense when it's establishment Richard very much lived at Croft Manor before he was killed.

I'm pretty sure the Blood Ties DLC happens between Lara's expeditions to Syria and Siberia. The clue is when it unlocks the first time you play the game (you can't play it until after the Syria section, and Lara goes back to the manor after her Syria trip and before going to Siberia in the main story).

Just finished shadow of the tomb raider...I Reaally enjoyed the game though the story didn't grab me at all. Specially at the end it lost me completely, lots of things are way off story wise but the action sequences kept me atthe edge of my chair. Good job andThanks for the video !

One thing about the writing that always bugged me is how OBSESSED she was with Sam, the entire first game centered around her hero complex with her, then *poof* no more sam in Rise or Shadow, with barely a mention in the pause menu's recordings. I get that the comics expound on it, but that's just lazy to me. Not everyone read them, so they just sort of dropped the ball on exploring their tumultuous friendship further. They traded Sam out for Jonah which was also like "why?" when he wasn't SUPER important to Lara in the first game. Meh.
You missed the entirety of the comics. One set just before TR 2013, one set after TR 2013 and one set after ROTTR. Alot happens in-between each game.
What happened to Sam?
They probably didn't include it because that material really isn't essential to the main games, none of it is ever mentioned. Plus the comics and books present contradictory information anyway.

6:33 it would have been nice if all the pick-up items turned to spirts and helped you kill Himiko at the end. I played the Tomb Raider (2013) hardcore and finished in 4 days; the ending felt like an afterthought.

I just played the games for the first time last week and I loved them, I’ve never been a gamer and these are actually the very first games I’ve ever played, other than Mario when I was a kid. I powered through the first two games super fast, took me like a week to complete both. Now I’m trying to enjoy SOTTR more, I’m trying to stop and explore more, to really take in the game and it’s surroundings. The jungle in Peru is gorgeous, my favourite world so far in the trilogy.
I know the developers said otherwise during promotions for Rise, but the games actually take place in the year they were released in, as has always been the case for the series.
There's a newspaper dated November 2015 in Rise and some tombstones in one of Shadow's DLC with the year 2018 on them.
The face / hair downgrade, highlighted in the thumbnail, between Rise to Shadow, is so depressing :(

Lara in 2013 was pretty .. Lara in ROTTR is stunning but Lara in Shadow is kinda weird looking.. she looks like a kind of cross between Karen Carpenter and Natalie Portman. Still love the game though.

Rise of the Tomb Raider was the best in the Trilogy. I was bummed after playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider. For some reason, they didn't really pick up from the cliffhanger ending in the previous game. It's like they written a new story with only references from the past like Trinity but no real follow-through on who killed Ana and Lord Croft.
Well I for one sure hope we get regular Lara Croft again now that we're caught up to the original timeline. I just wanna do a corkscrew flip over a big angry tiger and shoot it with my dual pistols in high definition. Enough struggling, let's be cool and sassy again.

Amelia croft was never found. So its speculation that she was dead. The tomb her father built. Had a sarcophagus that was completely sealed. Her body assumed Inside. But that wasnt the case. She may be alive. It's also hinted if you pay attention that trinity has. her
Not sure whom they hired to write shadow of tomb raider plot, but it was the best in my opinion. The relationship with other NPCs, character development, the facial details captured from acting was great, love it.
Side missions had crappy writing though
