The reason why the platelets are tiny is because they are called 血小板(kesshouban) in Japanese and “小”means “small”.
Also, platelets in the real world are much smaller than other blood cells.
@@SynchronizorVideos They’re not even true cells; they’re fragments of cytoplasm created by the bone marrow.
And they have a very short lifespan (10 days compared to RBC's 120 days) which means the platelets are much younger than the average RBC
In Vietnam, we call Platelets "tiểu cầu", means small cell, "tiểu" means "small"

I loved that he was confused as to why the red blood cell was lost, because there's actually an explanation to that.!
Our particular red blood cell-chan has a fun little detail of the hair curl (cow lick) in her character design. It's actually a cute little clue that she's actually a sickle cell, which explains why she gets lost so easily.
That's actually been proven to not be the case-the reason seems to be more that the naming on her hat suggests she has a trait that makes her less efficient at transporting oxygen and carbon dioxide throughout the body.
@@BrooklyKnight But sickle cells are inefficient in transporting oxygen and carbon dioxide as well?
@@thephantom7578 Yes, that's correct as well. What I'm saying is that even though that is the case, she's not a sickle cell according to the creator. She just has a cowlick.
The creator didn’t know what he was talking about, but thankfully the animators or some where in the creators subconscious, the hair clue made it into the design to clue the audience to what she really is.
That way both the creator lame excuse “she just a normal inexperienced red blood cell” is satisfied but at the same time, the audience understands why she really is the way she is.
No no, she's not a sickle cell. That cowlick(also known as 'id i ot' hair) is a rather popular anime trope. When a character has a cowlick, it means that he/she/they are an airhead, uh an absent-minded person, or (in humorous term) an id i ot. That's why she got lost a lot, because she's an airhead, not a sickle cell.
I know that seems kinda mean to us westerners, but it is considered pretty humorous(in a benign way) in eastern media.
Check TVTropes:Id i ot Hair for good explanation.
EDIT: sorry about the spacing, TH-cam is in their time of the month apparently.

The way Cells at Work crams so much information into itself, trying to be as accurate as possible, while still being fun and interesting is just incredible. This is how subjects should be taught, at least at a base level.
Entertainment can be educational. There's this for biology, 'History of the Entire World (I guess)' for history, and hell, 'The Savage Bees' horror movie taught me pretty much everything I knew about bees, because it was actually realistic

@@darril6486 yeah I thought everyone does that? Also do you guys order 5 Michelin star foods before watching the anime or am I the only one?
If you're looking at a blood smear (used to perform a CBC) then white blood cells>red cells>platelets. So the heights of the characters are actually proportional to their real sizes. Platelets come together to form large clots, but individually they are the smallest thing you see in blood normally:). This show has so many great nerd facts built in.

The cancer episode (part 2) is ironic in this show's dub because the VA of our main White Blood Cell passed away from colon cancer, and the character talks to the cancer cell as it dies. Eloise A Disney Nerd I personally disagree. With subtitles I’m less likely to be able to be actually watch the animation. I have to get through all the subtitles first and then look at what’s happening which when something has amazing animation is annoying. I’ll watch both at times and there are dubs that don’t really do it for me but more often than not watching the English dub is preferred for me. Cells at work seems like it's been inspired by Albert Barillé's animation series Once upon a time
... Life from the 80's. I loved that series as a child and learned so much from it!
i love the series of cells at work thanks for reviewing the series!

A doctor that watches anime about medicine is a doctor to be trusted
@kupis1408 We're a very accepting bunch. XD
Ham :3 How about one that watches a medical kdrama ;)
I dont think it counts if they only watch one episode though T_T would like to hear his thoughts on some of the other episodes.
Any doctor male/female/any other gender really into anime , it is trusted in my mind
:3
Thank you for reviewing this, now I know that this show is accurate and not misinformation.
I liked seeing almost a kid like excitement from you while watching this lol. It's great.
The moment I realized Dr. Mike doesn’t watch a lot of anime:
Mike: 😱🤯😱 “That was bloodier then expected!”
If he only knew how bloody the other anime's are... Welcome to the otaku world
Go attack on titan
