The idea of a slingshot mechanism for the final launch is incredible! Most planes have a hard time getting off of the ground due to low speed but they solved it!
Having the large wheels on the launcher gave more heigth from which to launch from. That with the aid of a catapult and a properly designed wing resulted in a spectacular flight. Good job guys.
It’s a good job but honestly it’s not the goal of the competition. It’s to have fun and not be serious, kinda like their soapbox competition as well. Everyone can build a proper soapbox, but nobody does
What you are missing is that the large wheel had a smaller shaft which pulled the rope that launched it. The catapult was powered by the large wheels going forward.

@@CalebSalstrom Hi Caleb! First of all, I was simply sharing an honest thought. It does seem like common sense to apply a launching mechanism in this event. I truly believe that the general population has less common sense than generations past. You're right. The idea of a slingshot mechanism for the final launch is incredible! Most planes have a hard time getting off of the ground due to low speed but they solved it!
Oh you noticed that too!
yeah that's epic with the clutch to connect the winch in the last stretch
I mean it helped that it was an actual proper build as well
The centre of mass/centre of lift ratio was nearly perfect too which made it glide level
Its the same idea as the poop one but executed much better
