absolute pog video you killed it and please make a rocket powered baby stroller
iv missed your content
you chose the least aerodynamic shape for your wings
That looked so fun. Great video too.
14:41 are we not gonna talk about how/why their camera person almost speared Louis?
I think they throw a 360° camera after the plane to capture some in-flight shots. Completely harmless, but paper will still be punctured by a camera stick.
They almost hit them on their way
That's my boy Steven Donovan - total pro and always delivers the 360º goods.
I think Louis might want to evaluate his list of friends 😂
14:49 That belly flopping guy just sent it 😂
That was Poet! Absolute legend hahaha
Landed on me! You could hear an audible “ooooh” from the crowd haha!
@Fish-de5yj sorry again, I'll jump before you next time bud
Almost killed the other guy that jumped first, too!
@@Jarekthegamingdragon all I’m going to say is thank god the boogie boards and jet skis were nearby 😅
The funny thing is they told you to stay on the back because they assumed it would nosedive but if you trusted the simulation and your math and kept your center of gravity further forward on it you probably would have gotten even more distance
He’s like John Ericsson without a backbone
"Even Boeing can't figure it out" ooooo shots fired!
im flying for the first time next week, alone, and the news has just been a blast to follow these last few months 😁
"Are you the media guy, can i be in it?" loved that
Great memories working together! Ian, you are truly missed. Wish we could've done more. Also Yes he did land on me and yes it knocked the wind out of me .
The big dude that jumped off the deck almost fucking landed on the other guy holy shit
fat*
*did land on the other guy
he okay? lol@@Weisz
It knocked the wind out of me and my neck hurt for a day or two but it was definitely worth the clip
Name checks out @@Fish-de5yj
Steel guitar strings work to cut foam. Hook it up to a Lionel train transformer, use some PVC pipe for a frame and you're in business.
I competed (and flew) in Red Bull’s Cincinnati competition this year and it was a very fun experience. This is giving me lots of nostalgia of long build days.
Shout out to all the dads helping their son and daughter achieving dreams !
My greatest regret in life is not walking down to the Milwaukee Flugtag 😭. Awesome build!
Thank you!
This is such an impressive build. I hope this video gets the recognition and love it deserves. Ian would be proud of all you did.
it was only a matter of time until louis weisz launched himself off a flugtag platform in a giant paper plane
Simpleplanes was a blast from the past, I miss designing stuntplanes lol.
Still playing the game to this day
This is great but honestly for the love of God give yourself a sustainable timeframe for one of these projects. Like that won't take away from how awesome it is
this dude does the dumbest shit possible and it somehow works and it entertaining what a fuckin legend
Thanks man! Trying my best :) comments like this are what keep me going
I like how the model showed you needed nose weight and then you sat about as far back as possible lol
The flugtag safety guys kinda made me 🤷🏼♂️ the event has changed a lot since the days of “yeet yourself and pray”
@@Weisz That's too bad. Fair, but still too bad.
@@Weisz Hey once you're rolling there's nothing they could have done to stop you moving forwards lol
@@esmeecampbell7396fr😂
That Boeing scene 😬😬 I was 2 minutes late to that flight because slowly leaving passengers and was denied entry and then had to spend 18 hour layover in Seattle
Great effort man! That thing looked majestic in the air
Thanks man! It was an insane build!
Hi
RIP Ian
Flugtag was a dream of mine as a teen!! Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you!
Ur dad gettin into this was awesome
They knew your aircraft was two good so they had to take it down by chucking a spear at it
Nah, they took it down by making him sit on the rear instead of the mid front like his model showed to be optimal
several years ago I'd actually have some of that funky heating wire in my room....i had an old vape my friend gave me and it used tiny coils made from that, they didn't last forever so i had to remake my own a few times, weird to work with especially when shaping it.
3M 77 is great for all sorts of stuff. Its also used to glue ammunition parts together sometimes.
thanks for reminding me about those paper airplane books! really glad to know that the planes themselves sucked, not my paper folding skills
For future reference, nichrome wire can be found nicely coiled up inside domestic plug-in fan heaters. You can easily stretch the wire straight. You can buy a cheap one instore for much less than $50 or use an old one.
(Toasters also contain nichrome but it is no good because it is in flat ribbons and it won't cut foam very well.)
You can get some spools of it at a vape store, of various gauges.
The fact you almost got a spear to the back was insane
My best friend used to be the video director of Flutag.
RIP Ron
Such a cool video. Love Flugtag
Simpleplanes as a simulator? I appreciate that.
Your dad RULES! The Johnson joke was unexpected and hilarious!
I love how the wingtips were just there and fell off halfway 😂
So freaking exciting!!! Shout out to the bois!!!
5:16
Lmao, I fuckin love Mr Weisz
It's about time
yo i love flugtag, looks like an awesome experience. your paper airplane got pretty far, loved the theme and outfits too 😅
Been a bit, glad you're alive.
Man what an awesome video, and so cool that you were in the flugtag! Itd be awesome to build my own and see how it'd fly. I hope you found that safety guy afterwards and asked him what he thought lmao. Maybe try it again with some more time and prep lol and a refined design
simpleplanes: gets shot down and reconsiders the whole thing
You had too much fun from the design to the first flight. Congratulations
Safety guy, ruining the fun. Always a tradeoff with performance, of course, but I do wonder how it might have otherwise turned out if he'd been ignored JUST a little.
800 bucks for foam?! 😭😭😭
i love the super try hard designs that still look insane and silly, but fly really far
Should’ve called in Peter striple
That was fun. Thanks.
That was awesome
Love your videos
@weisz saying "the event has changed alot from the time since the days of "yeet yourself and pray"" quote on quote is killing me 😭😭😭
0:35 nice simple planes gameplay
Bro, I think this would've glided more if you had more confidence in it and sat a little more towards the front bc it was tail heavy it seems. Congratsss!!!!!
Louis said the safety team wouldn’t allow him to ride towards the front
You had a really good score but really good is only okay at this event.
3:22 That is crazy😂😂😂😂
Good job. Btw simulation software at the beginning please?
Very impressive. I worked on aircraft, both fixed wing and helicopters for 15 years as a mechanic and a structural fabricator. I really didn't think it was going to fly that far. If I were on the team, with some modifications, it would have flown farther. I could tell from the start, where you sat, your center of gravity was too far back. But, the plane stayed flat! Good try guys!
Thanks dude!
If the guy hadn’t said anything, I would have sat about 40% from the back to front, that way the plane would still stay parallel to the water until the cart was mostly off the edge.
That’s why I ended up going with “sit on the back”, because my options were: do that and try to walk forward & shift weight, or sit on the front and nosedive/clip the platform for sure.
Glad you enjoyed this one!
3:23 lol
I was on the pizza slice hang glider team! I didn't realize it was you when I was walking through the hanger area!
I'm so glad that Simpleplanes is being used for its intended purpose
Why does this not have 1mill+ views
I can't believe you didn't have more time than 6 days?! Is it because you started late or did they just really take that long to approve?
SimplePlanes… I miss it 😭
They had to flip the airfoil
It would have been better if he was towards the nose, like in the model. It would have flown a lot further
If you're ever in a pinch for foam cutting wire again I've found that the smallest string for an electric guitar works well. Don't ask how I know that I spend lots of time finding alternatives for things such as that.
6:24 why are you sliding 😂
Bro really used simpleplanes for design testing😂😂😂
I also play that game😂👌
14:49 hahah
Great video. Years ago in Tampa I piloted a flying pink bra (for breast cancer). The bra fell like a rock but I was launched about 40’. Everyone at Red Bull was top notch.
Lol - great cause and a great time! Glad you had fun :)
Now I'm wondering about the biggest actual paper airplane, and what challenges engineering that could have
Has Louis such a bad time managemant or why are all of his video such a time crunch? Makes for a thrilling video though.
It's funny how someone randomly tries to spear the guy riding the plane.
Simple planes is in deed a stimulator... just not at all a fight stimulator ha ha
That paper plane was indeed very big!
Yeah lol
Well a DVD is a newer CD and thats the newer kind of vinyl, anyway can you have a vinyl player but insteed of it beeing music can you have an image?
Steven Donovan the camera guy with the near-spearing haha
He rocks! Fpolev on instagram, I’d honestly love to film something with him again.
6:21 bros floating
mans sent a bellyflop from 9 metres. jeez
he later told us that he was scared, but really wanted to do the jump, so this was how he convinced his brain to go for it!
Truly a highlight.
Red Bull allows you to stay up wllnight to make wings
Why are the views so low? I thought my app was glitching. Algorithm changing up again? Weird. I love this man's content. Like and share, yall!
Why the fuck does this not have enough views?
kinda epic ngl
6:23 looks so goofy
You were just off the center of gravity or ya would've flown further But it was a great try and fun. That's what counts
When did Red Bull start being so cool
Great flight, and super stable. Even flared for the landing, but: Ho LEE HEK! What was with that pole the dude threw at you? Isn't that a violation, like attempted homicide or assault with a deadly weapon? (ʘ_ʘ)
Damn what happened to Ian?
Instead of paper, you should have used TYVEK. Much stronger and lighter than paper
Stressful video
So does my JOHNSON!
madman
Thumbs up for almost getting speared on YT lol
wait 25 minutes away from aurora you live really close to me
I can’t believe he used simple planes and not flyout to test his design 😢
I’ve never heard of flyout! I’ll have to check it out
Bro called simple planes simulator 😂😂😂
IT SIMULATES OKAY?!? 😂
When you said newsboys, I thought you were talking about the band www.youtube.com/@newsboystv
Gee whiz. Had you rode farther forward, the aircrafts center of gravity would have had forward momentum. Where you rode it, it was drag holding it back from forward motion....after you ran out of velocity...it sank. More level == longer flight.
4:27 fellow midwesterner i see
all the knowledge but stands behind where the COG needs to be for flight instead of on it.
The pilot nearly got speared wtf?
