I honestly can’t thank you enough for this video. Not only do I now have a working ice maker (which saved me $350), but you helped me to do something I never thought I was capable of (which was honestly life-changing for me). I appreciate you so much.
Thank you for sharing your gifts with us. I’m not very mechanically inclined, but my elderly parents rely on me for things like this. I’m pretty sure you saved me a lot of money and a lot of time. God bless.
Hey I want to thank you very much. My ice maker have not worked for over two years. I have been trying to find the right parts. I finally found the right part and with your video I had it out and back in under thirty minutes and have my first batch of ice about five hours later. Thanks you very much.
I hope you solved this a year ago, but for future people, there is a little hole where you put a screwdriver in to release a little clip. I had to use my phone to see the clip
I am also stuck. As I try to pull the side compartment out, it refuses to move. It seems to be caught on the little lip at the end, but even when I lifted it past that AND kept attempting at hitting the tab through the hole, I could not get it out. And as it is a small area on the fridge, I can' fit both my phone and screwdriver in there at the same time. I hope I can receive some help soon, because my ice maker hasn't worked in months.
I also had this problem, figured I would provide a bit more clarification for future people in this weird situation 😅 The little hole is the rectangular one, not the circluar one. The little clip needs to be pushed down, so when inserting your screwdriver, insert it going up into the hole to be able to push the tab down. The tab shouldn't be too far into the hole
Thank you for this, I use my ice maker daily and it's been annoying without it the last few weeks...finally decided to do something about it, and mine looked just like yours with the ice. Thanks again!
This is exactly what I needed to replace my ice maker. I followed all your instructions and it worked seamlessly. I would even say the replacement manufacturer should post your video as the installation instructions instead of the paper one that was included. I'd say the most intimidating part of the installation was the wire cutting and crimping, but outside of that it was super easy. Thanks for the awesome video!
Thank you, I could not figure out how to pull it out and was afraid of breaking it. Seeing what you did helped and it pulled out just like you said, a little force, but it came out. This was the only video with this type of attached icemaker.
Thank you! You just saved me a weekend of grief! I struggled to figure out how to pull the ice unit out without damaging it. 2 minutes into your video, I had the unit out and back in within 15 minutes! It turns out all it was was ice jammed in the unit. I'm subscribed to your channel for future problems. Thanks again!
The part was the perfect fit as seen in the above video. It took me 45 mins from start to finish. Looking to have ice again in 24-48 hours. Thanks for the great video!!
Have to leave you a thank you message. I am notorious for being not very mechanically inclined. With the help of your excellent video, however, I was able to complete my ice maker replacement. Still in shock, tbh! Thanks so much!

First thanks for trhe video, my Ice Maker has stopped making ice on WRX735SDHV01. However, the part at 1:25 won't come off. It slides about a fraction, and is stuck on something. I don't see any tabs, or obstructions. It simply won't come off. Ideas?
Excellent instructions ranging from the person who has little experience making repairs to someone who has prior experience replacing an icemaker looking for specifics to this model.
My Whirlpool side by side has stopped making ice. MOD ED2JHGXRQ00 SER SS0923225 My ice maker looks similar to yours. Is there filters that I should replace? I have already replaced the water filter in the bottom of my refrigerator. How do I remove the cover in the front of the ice maker assembly? To test the ice maker where would I pour water into the unit? Thanks for the video. I subscribed.
Hi Donald! Sorry don't know about the filters, or how to remove the cover and test. I showed everything I know, in this current video. Best of luck on your search for answers, thanks for the support, Bro!
@UTECHPIA I believe you have shown how to remove the cover at 8:04? My model (in another video shows the ice maker assembly, and on the inside of that cover is a wiring diagram) is quite similar to yours. On that ice maker assembly there is a dial that can be used to restart the timer on the ice maker. There is a screw to adjust the duration of the water for crushed ice or cubed ice. I need to pull that cover off. All other videos they simply pull it off. You use a flat bladed screw driver to encourage it off? Thanks.
Hi Tanks for this detailed and informative video,. You showed us the old ice maker with frozen ice, my question is , melting the frozen ice in ice maker will solve the problem without changing the old ice maker with a new one ? thank you
Hi Ali, it depends on the problem of the old IceMaker. Sometimes melting the ice DOES fix it, other times it will freeze up again. Give it a try, I hope it works for you!
Great video 🙏 I pulled mine out and it looked like a piece of ice was jammed behind the tray. Hopefully it starts working soon. How soon should I hear the fridge fill the tray up with water ?
This looks like a perfect video for me to use for my refrigerator. My fridge parts look just like this. But I am stuck at 1:30! My panel does not come off just by pulling as in the video! It seems secured on there somehow. What else can I do to get this panel off?
@UTECHPIA - Question: do you know what caused the unit to freeze up? I have a similar issue, & I’m wondering if I can fix it by thawing & drying everything, or if I need to replace the unit. At least I’ll be able to do it, with help from your video! Thank you for the excellent video! I appreciate your step-by-step, detailed info & instructions - much better than videos where everything goes so easy-peasy, which are useless when you run into something that doesn’t go as perfectly as the video.
Hi soflynn4! I am not sure why it freezes up sometimes, but thay happens to me once every few years too!!! Thawing it out and simply putting it back-in, fixes it for another several years! 👍
As another comment was made on the same issue. I can't get the plate on the left at the beginning of the video that covers the wire harness and needs to be removed first.
@@UTECHPIA I ended up getting it and I had to use a screwdriver to push down the hidden tab, which I learned from a video you linked earlier in comments. I actually installed the exact ice maker so I really appreciate your video. I also wanted to say that it didn't work initially after install. I had to unplug my refrigerator for 10 minutes and then replug back in and it fired right up. Thanks again. Love the video.
Let the Fig thraw out "just for a little bit".... BUT sometimes it is just really hard to take out the icemaker. Make sure you push the release button REALLY hard, you'll know when it releases. sometimes I have to push like 3-4 times harder than usual. Then REALLY tug and pull the icemaker while holding down the button. I seriously hate this design... but learned how to "deal" with it in the past 10 years. Good luck!
Do you know the name of the whole entire unit you pulled out. I brought the same refrigerator as you 2 years ago on market place and just had it sitting in the storage because I was remodeling. I just tried to hook it up this year and noticed that I'm missing that whole part you just pulled out. Do you know where I can purchase the whole thing or the name of it
Wow! Just as easy and exactly as you demonstrated. Bought the same part too. Thank you for helping a do-it-yourselfer do another project that ended up saving $375.00 after I bought the part. Great job of videoing!
I was wondering how the icemaker has held up after 2 years? I need to install a new one and am contemplating the aftermarket one you got on Amazon vs a new OEM. The OEM requires installing the new wiring harness into the assembly whereas yours is an easier install. I saw some reviews where people said it had died on them after a year or so.
The aftermarket one is still holding up well. NOTE: The ice-maker design is flawed, regardless of OEM or aftermarket, it's the same, once in awhile it will just stop making ice because the ice is stuck somewhere in the unit and you have to take out the unit, remove the stuck ice, and put the unit back in. I got used to the process and it takes about 5 minutes now :)

So after some struggling I figured out how to do it... Just use a small flat-head screwdriver in the first elongated slot. there is a plastic tab right there in the hole... push DOWN on it while pulling the cover forward. Hopefully this helps others.
