Thank You! Excellant tutorial. You saved me several hours of frustration and cursing. This video made this so much easier. For others troubleshooting their own problems. My ice maker stopped making ice. I removed it, and it had ice in the maker, but was not harvesting. I melted the old ice and reinstalled. It would not fill with water. I put it in diagnostic mode 25 and jumped H and T and it would cycle, but never call for water. Checked the fill valve with my multimeter and I had 185 ohms on 1 and 256 ohms on the other. My internet search said I should have about 500 ohms but I felt like it was the ice maker not calling for water, so I replaced that. Installed new ice maker per these instructions and problem solved.
Ok so I just replaced my ice maker and currently have the same issue you described. I jumped the T and H and the unit fills and cycles. Issue is that the water just sits in the mold and freezes. What am I missing here.
Bought a replacement and the technical help video provided was not great. When I contacted customer support they pointed me to your video. Awesome. THANK YOU!
@@BeardedApplianceRepair seriously. It was a part supplier, repairclinic.com. Their how to video skips the replacement of the wire harness completely. Because Of that and because I didn’t think I needed to replace the harness I contacted them thinking the replacement wasn’t a match. I nearly sent the thing back to them.
Just did this today! Thanks for your wonderful video! Explained everything so thoroughly that I watched it once and put in without having to watch it again. Also the picture tip was very helpful. Two thumbs up 👍👍
This video is AWESOME! Made the job a breeze. thanks much! For other folks diagnosing: My icemaker wasn't getting water but the regular water dispenser on the door was fine. It was getting 110V to the icemaker unit using service mode "25" command, but it would only go into cycle test w/ bail arm actually moving 1 of the 4 times I tried it. Additionally, the valve for the icemaker tested about 180 ohms resistance so I assumed that was good enough. I replaced the icemaker itself and, BOOM, we have ice now. Thanks again.
Just wanted to thank you for posting this video. It saved me a whole lot of time and probably broken parts trying to get the ice maker out. Thanks to you my refrigerator is now pushing out ice!
You’re welcome! You should have seen me my first time. I was lost on how to get that cover off. If I didn’t have someone to call I would have broken something myself. Glad it was helpful for you! Thanks for commenting.
I like your videos very direct and good video quality. and in youtube is very hard find videos about kitchenaid, whripool and maytag. thanks you from Dominican Republic
great video, just bought a replacement icemaker that ended up coming just like this one. Was great to have the extra steps to redo the wiring harness. Keep up the good work!!
Excellent video and I couldn’t of done it without you but there’s a couple of really big issues that I would like to address that will make installation much much easier for any other DYIer watching this video. Firstly, you do not have to disconnect the auger motor and attempt to use a nut driver long enough to reach the grounding screw. You can simply disconnect the solenoid from the two screws in the back using a Phillips head screwdriver. There are two tabs you push in after removal and the entire piece comes out with the grounding screw attached. Second, when reinstalling the ice machine there is a small door on top of the refrigerator that is the access point for the water for your icemaker. Simply remove the door and push the hose up from the inside where it protrudes down until it’s flush. This allows the icemaker to slide in with ease and you simply push down on the hose on the top of the refrigerator and replace the door after you’re done. I beg of you to add these steps because it made a huge difference in my installation.
Thank you!! Had the exact same issue. Received my ice maker and followed your exact directions! The grounding wire was a pain but got it eventually. Ended up breaking the plastic bracket that was holding the solenoid but besides that my ice maker is working perfectly. Didn't have to put mine in test mode to get it started. Really appreciate how comprehensive and detailed your video is. Subscribed and liked!
Brilliant video! I just replaced mine watching your video. I could not do it otherwise because I was so confused-whirpools isntructions were way outdated, not even the same part, it was old! Your video saved me!!! Instructions were perfect. Thank you so so much, we havent had ice for years and have it again!
Your comment reminds me of my first time doing this. It was a learning experience for sure. Took too long and was embarrassing in front of the customer lol. That was a few years ago and now I’m just trying to help others. Thanks for the comment and glad to help!
Thanks, I finally found the right ice maker video. The title doesn’t say it but this is perfect for the Whirlpool“Gold” series. Didn’t know the tab to remove the unit was in the front but you did say left side. Keep up the good work!
Awesome! That’s what I’m here for, to help my friend. I may add “gold” into the title so thanks for that. Thanks for commenting and maybe I’ll have a video for your next diy Repair.
Thank you so much for this! I was in the early stages of switching out the ice maker when I realized I had to switch up the wiring harness... you made it very clear and simple. thanks again!
I don't know how I would have done this if I didn't have this video. When I got the kit I would have been confused with the extra parts and the fact that the cable connector is different. You cleared all of that up so thanks!. I did the replacement. I didn't do any diagnostics - my meter is broken right now. Hopefully that was just the issue. I'll find out in a few hours I guess.
Our Icemaker was not working . We called Maytag for Repair information and were asked if we had changed the Water Filter. We changed the Water Filter ...as instructed. Ran a few gallons of water through the water dispenser. Now its making Ice again.Saved a bunch of money . I thought I would share
Thanks I finally found a video for “gold” could not otherwise figure out how to remove unit. So if you get to test 25 that is supposed to send power to unit either door open. If no power, is the problem in the ice maker.
Thanks for a excellent and very well done DYI helpful video one of the best done on any subject. While it didn't answer my question regarding water over filling problem on my W10882923 / W10377151 Maytag unit but I did learn some great hints. WELL DONE.
Enjoyed the video. Learned a lot. I'm having trouble with water building up under the fill tray and freezing. The ice tray also builds up a layer of ice and the ice maker will not dispense ice. I can't seem to find out where the water is coming from. When I had the ice maker out I put water in the tray and there were no leaks. I would appreciate any input you have to this problem. Thanks
A metal paint can opener that has a curved end (like the ones provided by the Big Box stores, as well as Ace and True Hardware that also includes a handy beer bottle opener🍻 ) stores can come in handy if you're trying to pop the cover off the ice-maker to access the various test points.👍👍
Many thanks for the clear, no nonsense instructions! I also was on the fence about it being the water valve solenoid or the ice maker. I ran the exact diagnostics you described and sure enough the ice maker wasn't calling for water. New ice maker is filling normally! I'm not sure if it's related but at the same time the ice maker failed my fridge began running warm. My freezer works fine though. There was a small amount of ice on the right side of the evaporator (
Question since this icemaker had a test mode. What was the purpose of testing it for voltage? Or were you trying to see if it was a voltage drop under the load? But great video got one I gotta look at in about a hour.
Please forgive me if this has been covered in previous comments. Your video was very informative and helpful. I diagnosed that that my icemaker would not cycle after test 25 on my Maytag MFI2665XEM0 fridge. Had power at the terminals, but when jumped, it would not turn. Replaced both the icemaker and water inlet valve with direct factory replacements. When reconnected and running test 25, had power at new unit and had initial fill (though slight) but has yet to make ice. Jumped the new icemaker and it cycled/turned as expected, but no fill. Freezer temp is 0 and everything seems correct. Not sure what the next steps should be and at the limit of my knowledge. Any help would be appreciated.
Ours is one year old. I drink water daily from the door dispenser. Today I went for ice through the door, which I usually don't do. Lots of sediment in the bottom of my glass as the ice melted. I just took out the ice bin and emptied it. We shall see after a fresh batch of ice is made. We replace the filter as suggested.
Very informative video! That said it looked like you were having issues getting the brown solenoid plug back in...looks like you swapped the white and black connections there. White should be on the left and black on right for anyone that comes across this.
Thank you for posting such an informative and easy to follow tutorial! My ice maker stopped making ice for several days, and started working again today. Does anyone have any ideas why this would happen? It is inconsistent; it will produce ice regularly, then it will slow down, or stop for some time before starting again.
Thank you! Thank You! Thank You! You save me a lot time and money. same Ice Maker of my Whirlpool French Door WRX735SDHZ00 Keep the good work! I'm a new subscriber.
Hello quick question about my fridge. I have a whirlpool model WRX735SDBM02. Ice maker stopped working. I checked to see if ice stocked or arm froze and both were fine. I found a video where it shows how to jump start which I did. The ice maker teeth started slowly moving so did the arm. Once it finished rotating water kicked on and filled the ice tray. After few hours we had some ice and then stopped again. If I do the same steps it will produce more ice but why is it not doing on its own? I also replaced water filter. Is there anything else I can try? Thank you!
I doubt your still paying attention to questions here , you’ve grown your business I see. But my question, in order to know if the ice maker is sending voltage to the water valve…. Could we just stick a probe in the v hole and the other probe to a ground?
Mine does everything it’s supposed to except it never fills. I’ve replaced the duel water dispenser . I have good pressure at the water outlet and I’ve tested both solenoids on the valves, both good. What part needs replacement.
great video, so mine keeps turning just like yours but way slower. Never notice the fill valve trying to come on. Definitely a bad ice maker then I assume? Another issue I had before this quit working, it would not dispense ice either, I don't think the yoke ever turned. Is there a way to test that motor before I order a new one? Thanks
So my ice maker started acting up. It makes ice but it doesn't harvest the ice. I manually have to harvest it by using a jumper wire on the H and T and that starts the motor and I'm able to harvest the ice and then fills with water and start the cycle again but after the ice freezes, it doesn't continue on to harvest the ice. I should probably just replace the entire unit but just curious what you think the issue is because it's obviously not completely broken. Thanks.
Appreciate the video guys, very very helpful. Question: I jumped the unit and the unit cycled about 3 full times, but water was never called to the unit. Also, I would like to point out that the blue teeth turned incredibly slow (much slower than in your video). Any suggestions on if its the ice maker or not? The not calling for water makes me believe it may be more than that, but wanted to hear your opinion if you were willing to share. Appreciate all of your time.
Hi...May I ask for a little direction? I have this exact ice maker. I have probably 3 separate issues with my ice maker. My biggest issue is that after my first problem many years ago, the ice bin filled too full and it was stuck closed. I broke the plastic holding clips for the ice maker/bin housing while trying to get it open. Can that be replaced? Also, the "switch" or whatever that pauses ice making when it's full, is still an issue. I usually just open it and turn it off until it gets low. Then thirdly, and finally, the cubes do not separate, as in, they fall in full 4-5 piece clumps. I feel confident that if I replaced the ice maker it would fix problem 2 and 3, but the broken plastic clips in the housing, I can't seem to identify in parts diagrams. Can you help? Thank you.( My fridge is 16 years old now and I know it's probably more reliable than whats in the stores now. Thats why we've lived with it for so long. Having said that, if I can't repair this issue and the time comes that i need to replace my fridge, what do you find to be most reliable? )
I have one of the same ice machines but the ice when they fall to the tray they stick together, it will be due to a lot of water pressure or there will be some configuration so that this does not happen. Because the ice sticks together because they no longer come out and they get stuck ..
Thank you for this amazingly helpful video. I have fixed 2 ice makers so far thanks to you. Can I ask: is it possible to increase the size of the cube (amount of water) with this ice maker? I see other videos with the screw but I dont see it on this unit. Is there a way to increase the ice cube size?
Unfortunately no, that’s only on Frigidaire ice makers to my knowledge. For those I make sure the customer changes the water filter. Still have a problem? than it could be in the plumbing before the fridge or water valve on the fridge. You can do a water pressure test and see what kind of pressure is coming in. I believe they need somewhere around 60psi. The installation manual may have the exact specs needed
I have a Maytag with a similar ice maker. If I remove the ice maker, is there a way to jumper the refrigerator side of the wire harness to get the water to flow out of the tube that fills the ice maker? The refrigerator is inside an RV and this would be extremely helpful for winterizing.
I would just disconnect the tube. Gravity will get the water out of it. It’s only held in there by a vacuum in the tube. If you have ever had a drink with a straw and you hold the top on the straw over the hole and lift it out the drink will stay in the straw. Than when you let go the drink falls out. That essentially what your doing there when you disconnect the waterline from the valve.
the 2 harnesses are the same except 1 plug? why in the world would they not just make an adapter? much cheaper and easier! wow. Good video BTW. thanks for making it! :)
I have a French door-type Maytag refrigerator, the problem is that it starts making ice normally after about 15 days the ice begins to make balls together, that is, all the ice sticks on the tray and the ice no longer packs, because they are stuck I went in yes, by removing the ice manually, it returns to produce normal ice but after 15 days it does the same again .. I already changed the new ice maker, only the pure ice maker and the problem persists .. the question is why it is happening That or what suggestion could you give me exactly? It has that same ice maker model !!
what if I jumped L and M.... then sparks flew..... what do you think I blew? I'm no longer getting any volts to the ice maker... but the fridge and display seem to be working....
On the older refrigerators, voltage is always applied to the ice maker. You should be able to test it 24/7. Some you have to have the door switch closed to operate it.
Love the video! very well put together. Do you do a lot of sealed system work? The company I am apprentice with does a good bit of it. Just wondering what you do in your area. Thanks again
I do sealed system work yes. Only a couple times a month though. To be completely honest they still give me trouble. I’m right more often than I’m wrong but they tend to kick my butt all over the place. That’s the toughest work we do. I need more time in it to get better. I would consider my self “okay” with sealed system work lol. It’s hard, give me a schematic and an electrical problem and I’ll tear it up though lol
@@BeardedApplianceRepair thats cool. We do a lot of it. Sometimes with an older unit I think it's best to get a new one. I mean the sub zeros I can see doing work on because of the cost. I was just curious. Thanks for the reply.
Thank you for the Video. I have the same ice maker but mine is over filling and flooding the ice maker and into the refrigerator. It happened twice about 2 weeks apart. The water side has been fine. But when this happened the valve clicks on to fill the ice maker and doesn"t shut off . Thank God I was home both times. Do you think it is the ice maker or the dual water valve feeding the ice maker?
Martin McDonough if I had to guess I would say it was the water valve. Could be water pressure too. Have you change the filter lately? When you say it clicks is it a rapid click? Kinda like a machine gun sound. If so I would say water valve for sure. I would change the filter too though. How you know if it the ice maker is you have to check voltage at the valve when it’s clicking. If you see power cut in and out you’re looking at the ice maker. All this is if it’s a rapid click. To be safe you can get all three lol. Good luck!
Yep pouch from Lowe’s. Awp I think is the brand. I don’t have any luck with their straps. I have owned 3 of their bags and straps break once a year. Other than that not a bad bag. Glad to help!
Just replaced my unit. I was able to jump the T and H the unit cycles. Issue is that the water just sits frozen and unit never cycles only when jumped. Not sure what to check next. Where is the thermostat and how can I test it?
Thank you. My issue is there is no water coming to the tray. I replaced the dual inlet valve and still no water coming over. I jumped the T & H and still nothing. What is the next step for not water coming into the ice cube tray? Water to the drink dispenser is working fine.
When you jumped t to h were you in test 25 in diagnostics? Won’t have power up there unless you’re in that test. Sound like an ice maker issue though. If you have the black ice maker. Go ahead and update it. If it’s not bad now it will be in the future.
I've done this test many times as you show. But on this Amana ice maker i'm working on, i have to jump the M and the N to make it rotate, It's bugging me like hell on this issue, lol
ice maker could be stuck. Might need a new ice maker. Is it a brand new install? If it is they come that way so it fill in just a few seconds after it gets power.
oh, that's the way those work. You have to physically turn it back on. You can call it the nature of the beast. There's no way to turn it back on automatically to my knowledge.
Bearded Appliance Repair, I came home to water running out of the ice maker. (W10882923), is there anyway to test ice maker to see what is wrong? Just found your response to Martin McDonough. My ice maker will click once (I'm assuming it's the water valve opening to fill the ice tray??) What is the valve part number that would need replacing and where is it located.
If anyone can help I followed this video and have power to the ice maker. When I jumped the connections to make the ice maker cycle I got absolutely nothing. This is different than video but would still make me believe it is the ice maker that needs to be replaced. Would that be correct?
Question...so i replaced the same unit with the same replacement unit as shown in this video and while it does make ice, it does so very slowly. 48+ hours and it's only made a few batches of ice. What i noticed watching this video is that i did not put that thermal fuse in the metal clip or swap out the bail arm to the new one....would this cause the slow ice production?
I wouldn’t think so no. All you need for it to make ice is for it to be cold and have the right amount of water. If it’s not cold enough it will take more time for it to freeze the ice. If your not getting the mold to fill up all the way it will slowly produce ice as well. So check temps and water pressure. If you haven’t changed the filter recently give that a shot.
@@BeardedApplianceRepair i replaced both the water filter with a oem filter as well as the water inlet valve...it flows water but for some reason it doesnt harvest automatically. I'm beginning to wonder if its a defective unit?
Yeah give that a shot. A lot of places warranty the part and they will swap it out for you. That will either fix it or rule it out. If it’s cold enough and it gets enough water I would say you’re right.
I think it’s the thermal fuse. The purple wire/ thermal fuse reads when the cubes are frozen so it knows when to harvest. Just my thoughts, doesn’t hurt to try.
I am stuck and disconnecting (separating) the power harness before pulling the ice maker out. Can someone explain where is the notch, or place to click to get them separated?
QUESTION what if nothing happens when I jump the t and h. There is cubes in the tray but they aren’t dumping out it seems like. I got it to do a cycle when jumping it the other day but it isn’t fixed and today when I did it again it won’t even cycle
Make sure it has power at “L” and “N”. If it does you need an ice maker. If not you will have to check power from the board to the harness at the ice maker. Do not jump L and N. That will cause a short and potential damage to your fridge.
When your saying about testing L and N and not getting voltage its a circuit card where would that be located? My problem is i cant get ice made and also cant get it to refill with water when testing in 25? If i buy the ice maker link you have located will that fix my problem?
If your not getting voltage between l and n during test 25 you may be looking at the main board. They should be on the back wall of the unit. 4 screws than you take the panel off and it’s right there. If you are getting voltage it could be your water valve or ice maker. If you have voltage and jump the v and l it sends power down to the valve. If it fills than you ice maker will be the culprit. If it fails you will be looking at the water valve. I would make sure you have good pressure at the wall by running the water dispenser. If you have good water flow than I would say it would be your water valve. Randomly we find broken wires and such but in rare occasions. Still a possible problem though. Good luck!
Let me also add if you have the black ice maker and not the updated new one I would go ahead and replace it. Those black ones can do some weird things which may be your issue.
@@BeardedApplianceRepair It ended up being the ice maker and also the water valve. The new ice maker fixed it started filling water in ice maker as soon as i installed. Also the water valve i took notice that it was leaking/dripping a little from locking shark connector on the water line to valve so had to replace it as well. The other issue i was wondering about and maybe it's fixed i wont know for a couple days but have you have had water freeze in the freezer underneath the drawers. Its like a sheet of ice before every so often i would have to get in there and chip it out and throw out the ice outside or i would see a puddle on the floor? Could it be because the fridge isn't level from the front to the back?
Shawn Louey if you replaced the water valve behind that panel in the fridge I would say you fixed it. If it was leaking behind that panel the water would go to the floor of the fridge section and hang out there and can freeze a sheet down there being so close to the freezer. Glad you got her fixed my friend!
When u go to diagnostic mode and 01 and 02 does not show any blinking numbers, the lights don’t work and water and ice machine is not working. All of the frig cooling is not working. Is that a mother board problem?
I installed the new ice maker following your video. How ever after installing and going to the 25 mode, i then had power and the fill cycle worked. I held the two left buttons in until the panel cleared but then i got the same message i strted with in the begging. ICE MAKER OFF. What am i doing wrong?
There should be a way to turn it on. On some models there is a button in the display that turns on and off the ice maker. Others you will have to go into options to turn it on. If those don’t work or can’t figure it out I would find your use and care manual and it should mention how to do it in there. If you need the manual you can look up “Maytag manuals” on google to get the website where you can pull up the manual by model number.
Need a little help. Ice maker started making very little ice with small cubes. Pressure was low so I replaced inlet valve. Pressure improved but no change in ice making patterns. Bought new and Replaced ice maker just as you did in video. Ice quality is slightly better (bigger cubes) but still slow. Never get a full basket of ice even if no use for a couple days. Any ideas? I’m not sure what to do next.
Does the water fill up the whole mold? If it doesn’t I would continue to try and figure out the pressure problem. Trying a new filter if you haven’t already. Second would be water pressure from the wall. I believe you want at least 60 psi there. If the mold is filling up like it should than you may have a cooling problem. Could be a fan failure, defrost issue, Freon leak or restriction. Pray it’s not a leak or restriction. One thing you could do is clean your condenser. If it has lint or pet hair on it could restrict air flow across the condenser which can effect the cooling of your fridge. Good luck!
Bearded Appliance Repair so I did a little experimenting and put the original stock ice maker back in and it made no ice. Put the brand new ice maker back in and quickly made 2 trays of ice and dumped each. Now it’s been 1/2 a day since it last dumped ice despite cubes being frozen in the tray. Any ideas why it would make a couple rotations of ice and then quit? Appreciate your help, man. Thanks.
Chris Szulc ice makers have a thermostat that tells it that it is ready to make ice. When the ice maker fills with water the temp goes from day 0 degrees(freezer temp) to 70 (water temp) when it get down to 5-10 degrees is says hey this is now ice let’s drop it and make some more. On the first try it was probably sensing it from room temp to the 5-10 degree for harvest. The second trip maybe it got enough water back to that thermostat to bring the thermostat temp up so when it got back down to 5-10 degrees is made it the second time. You either have a cooling problem where it’s not getting cold enough to made it consistently or water pressure problem where water is not reaching the thermostat to tell itself “hey we’re starting another round”. I hope this makes sense to you. Degrees may vary on the type of ice maker you have. It may work at 15 degrees instead of 5-10. If I had to put money on it I would say you have a water pressure problem.
@@BeardedApplianceRepair Thank you so much for your help! I agree I think I have a water pressure problem at this point. I have already changed my water filter, replaced inlet valve inside the fridge, and checked water supply pressure. Pressure from water supply was strong. No kinks in hose. No sediment around connections. Water pressure out of water dispenser on front of fridge is also very strong. Any other ideas on where I could check for pressure problem? Only other thing I haven't checked is the hose from inlet valve to fill tube. Maybe it is clogged or damaged? Maybe some frozen water in fill tube? I'm out of ideas! If you have any other ideas I'd love to hear them. Thanks again for all your help.
Chris Szulc I would get a pressure gauge on your supply and see what it reads. If it read close to 60psi you can rule that out. From there you can trace the water through the system and see where the pressure drops. This tool should have everything that you need. Flow Doctor Water Pressure Gauge Kit, All Purpose, 6 Parts Kit, 0 To 200 Psi, 0 To 14 Bars, Standard 3/4" Female Garden Hose Thread Plus 5 Adapters To Test in Multiple Locations Indoors and Outdoors www.amazon.com/dp/B01KX7PDD8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_mZTxDbF44886V Restriction could be in reservoir, filter head, etc. where you see it drop is where you will find your problem.
Unable to get AC at the L and N holes with test 25 running. Removed the ice maker and checked for AC between the purple and white wires and have no AC there either with test 25. The purple ohms out to the L on the ice maker. The old ice maker the L terminal was disintegrated and bad. Any ideas why no AC power? Also the fan comes on when I plug it in and the auger turns if I press the ice switch in the front.
@@BeardedApplianceRepair Replaced the control board. Besides vaporizing the gold off the module the component that the wire led to was cooked. It left a black smoke mark on the refrigerator behind the module.
I usually just cut the clip that hold it in with diagonal cutters. Unless I can slip in my needle nose to close the clips to remove. If you are meaning the harness that connects into the fridge you just push in the clip that’s holds it together then pull the two pieces apart.
@@BeardedApplianceRepair Thank you for the quick reply. I meant the power harness connector - what you're holding at 4:44. I was able to leave it connected and still pull out the ice maker. Turns out my issue is ice that was frozen at the side and preventing the part form turning to release it. A hair dryer melting the ice let it release and then I put it all back in. Within 10 minutes it was making ice again.
Working on WRX735SDBM00 with W10509495/W10314825 ice maker. Going to test 25 and probing ports L and N get no volts. Is this test applicable to this unit?
Helps if your testing for AC volts. Have volts at L and N. Jumping T&H can actuate the harvester, it rotates, dumps ice and refills. Anyway to test the mold or temp sensor anything else that can be tested to identify the component of the unit versus the entire maker?
Emitter and receiver also called ice level sensor. Its an Ir sensor that goes across the ice bin. Clean the holes with a q-tip first. Only other thing is a bad new ice maker. Sounds like the emitter and receiver to me though. I believe there is a link in the description for it.
F C my bad I was thinking of another video. Thought the comment was on that one. Try the filter if you haven’t already. Clogged filter can cause the mold not to fill up completely and can cause ice making issues. Make sure it getting cold enough. Ice box fan can fail I believe there is a test for it in diagnostics. Tech sheet should be under the top right hung cap. If it’s not there check behind the kick plate. Mess with the door switches a little bit too. If you see one of them fail the ice maker won’t cycle like it should. Only will cycle if the door is closed. That’s what I would look for, only other thing would be a bad board or ice maker(even if it’s brand new. Can’t really test if it’s a bad board either. Just have to try it and see what happens. Good luck!
I have a maytag/whirlpool refrigerator exactly the one in your video, but my problem i having is that is only making crushed ice no ice cubes coming out. There's ice on the bucket, and i hear the refrigerator working and making ice. Please help. Need a solution to this problem. What you think it is.
Hi I replace the solenoid on my Maytag refrigerator, I installed it and it was working fine. Now today I noticed that now is coming out crushed and cube at the same time. What can it be.
You probably just have some ice clumped together. When you changed it out your ice probably melted and froze back together. Dump your ice bin and start over with new ice and it should work well.
Thank you so much for making this video. I needed to make this exact change, and could not have done it without your help!
My repairman has replace 3 ice makers this week. I'll send him your way. Good stuff. Thanks.
Bought a replacement and the technical help video provided was not great. When I contacted customer support they pointed me to your video. Awesome. THANK YOU!
WOW seriously? was this Whirlpool or Maytag, or part supplier? Anxious to know! lol
Kudos! That’s how you diagnose these things!
This is a really clear and helpful video. Thank you very much for this and for taking the time to put this out for others to follow!
I followed the step by step. Took me about an hour from start to finish. Thank you,!
Excellent!
great video, just bought a replacement icemaker that ended up coming just like this one. Was great to have the extra steps to redo the wiring harness. Keep up the good work!!
Great comprehensive video with answers to questions I had. Well done
Thank you. I do not think I could have done this repair without your video. Very informative and easy to follow. Thanks again!
Thanks for the tips!
So very easy to follow. Step by step and had it replaced in no time.
Thank you! Now I feel ready to replace the ice maker in my Maytag!
Thanks!
Thx for the well-done vid. Oddly, this model is rarely shown on TH-cam with a search (at least for me). I came by it from another site's link.
Thanks a million. Your video made it almost painless.
Great tutorial video. Saved me a ton of work and several hundred dollars. Thanks.
You are DA MAN!! awesome video
My wife and I installed a new icemaker ourselves thanks to you and your video. MANY THANKS!!
From where you got the part ?
Well Done!!!!! Many Thanks for this. Perfect Instructions. Donation on the way!!!
Thank you! We appreciate that very much! Glad we could help out!
Thank you!! The side panel clip was odd, your video and explanation helped.
Thank you so much for this! I was in the early stages of switching out the ice maker when I realized I had to switch up the wiring harness... you made it very clear and simple. thanks again!
Unfortunately, it stopped making ice after a few cycles (about a week)... any advice?
I don't know how I would have done this if I didn't have this video. When I got the kit I would have been confused with the extra parts and the fact that the cable connector is different. You cleared all of that up so thanks!. I did the replacement. I didn't do any diagnostics - my meter is broken right now. Hopefully that was just the issue. I'll find out in a few hours I guess.
And it worked!! We now have ice. Much cheaper than hiring a repair guy. Thanks again.
Had the exact same symptoms. Thank you for the very insightful video! Will be back once the part arrives.
Our Icemaker was not working . We called Maytag for Repair information and were asked if we had changed the Water Filter. We changed the Water Filter ...as instructed. Ran a few gallons of water through the water dispenser. Now its making Ice again.Saved a bunch of money . I thought I would share
Yeah filters can fix them. If you start to notice smaller cube that is another sign of needing to change it. Glad that was all it needed! Kudos
WELL DONE.
Thanks for great video. In the business and had not seen one of these yet. You saved the day.
Great to hear!
There was a small amount of ice on the right side of the evaporator (
Awesome video, seen it and ordered the ice maker. Just changed it while rewatching the video. Hopefully I’ll have ice in the morning.
Excellent tutorial video keep up the good work.
Thank you so much! Great video with easy step by step
You're welcome!
Thank you! Thank You! Thank You! You save me a lot time and money. same Ice Maker of my Whirlpool French Door WRX735SDHZ00 Keep the good work! I'm a new subscriber.
Thanks for subscribing and glad to help my friend!
Ok I just rewatched the video. If the is no power at test 25 do I need a new control board? Do you have a video for that?
Thank you!!! awesome video
Thanks
thanks for the video and useful information.
Thanks.
Got the same issue. How did you get yours resolved?
@@DaKine96791 I replaced the thermostat and that solved the issue and haven’t had any issues since. Hope the helps!
What exactly is the white piece that is on the front of ice maker that you took off right after you took off the cover
So where does the 120 volts come from to the ice maker , and should always be 120 volts at those check points ?
totally the solve my issue, thanks!
Successfully kicked off a test cycle with the T-H jumper but I got a little bit of smoke and electrical burning smell with that. Advice?
Appreciate the video guys, very very helpful. Question: I jumped the unit and the unit cycled about 3 full times, but water was never called to the unit. Also, I would like to point out that the blue teeth turned incredibly slow (much slower than in your video). Any suggestions on if its the ice maker or not? The not calling for water makes me believe it may be more than that, but wanted to hear your opinion if you were willing to share. Appreciate all of your time.
Yep ice maker 100% I believe the ice maker in this video did the same exact thing.
The installation manual may have the exact specs needed
thank you whirlpool I ordered a new icemaker, still no harvest. T & H does not work, so I should read voltage off of L & N.
@@BeardedApplianceRepair I don't have easy access to the rear of the refrigerator, so that may not be an option.
the 2 harnesses are the same except 1 plug? why in the world would they not just make an adapter? much cheaper and easier!
I have a whirlpool refrigerator GP5RYAXVY 05. Water comes out of dispenser but never makes ice. Any input?
what if I jumped L and M.... then sparks flew..... what do you think I blew? I'm no longer getting any volts to the ice maker... but the fridge and display seem to be working....
Thank you
Great video. But how do you test for voltage with a refrigerator that doesn't have a control panel?
On the older refrigerators, voltage is always applied to the ice maker. You should be able to test it 24/7. Some you have to have the door switch closed to operate it.
Thanks, I’ll give that a try.
Good luck!
thanks for the bideo. I needed the diagnostic how to on test mode. Nice tool puch is that from a box store? Nice and organized
Yep pouch from Lowe’s. Awp I think is the brand. I don’t have any luck with their straps. I have owned 3 of their bags and straps break once a year. Other than that not a bad bag. Glad to help!
Thank you sir, tackling this project once my parts come in.
If the module rotates around and around continuously you said one needs a new ice maker. But what part of the ice maker needs to be replaced.
Just replaced my unit. I was able to jump the T and H the unit cycles. Issue is that the water just sits frozen and unit never cycles only when jumped. Not sure what to check next. Where is the thermostat and how can I test it?
Is there a diagnostic code to fill the ice maker?
No power to ice maker even when I'm in diagnostic step 25. Any videos on replacing the control board?
Some models require the door switch to be closed. Make sure it is not that simple before getting a board for it. lol
What would make my lil arm not want to go back down an stay?
ice maker could be stuck.
My fridge is not making ice as it used to. Do you know why it's that happening?
Lifesaver!!
If anyone can help I followed this video and have power to the ice maker. When I jumped the connections to make the ice maker cycle I got absolutely nothing. This is different than video but would still make me believe it is the ice maker that needs to be replaced. Would that be correct?
What’s the part number of that kit?
This is the filter it should use. amzn.to/2L1QYkV
Thanks
Flow Doctor Water Pressure Gauge Kit, All Purpose, 6 Parts Kit, 0 To 200 Psi, 0 To 14 Bars, Standard 3/4" Female Garden Hose Thread Plus 5 Adapters To Test in Multiple Locations Indoors and Outdoors www.amazon.com/dp/B01KX7PDD8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_mZTxDbF44886V
Restriction could be in reservoir, filter head, etc. where you see it drop is where you will find your problem.
Never mind, followed the purple wire to the control board. It melted the gold off the board that goes to the purple wire.
Yeah I was thinking the control board would be the only other thing. Besides the wiring. Was it fixable or did you have to get a new board??
@@BeardedApplianceRepair Replaced the control board. Besides vaporizing the gold off the module the component that the wire led to was cooked. It left a black smoke mark on the refrigerator behind the module.
@@BeardedApplianceRepair Thank you guys for a great video. Would not have been able to figure this out without the video.
Having an issue unclipping the wire harness. How do you do that?
Thank you! So easy with your tips!
Thanks and glad to help
Replaced ice maker and water inlet valve on whirlpool fridge; dumped a load of ice, filled, and now not dumping again. What can I check next? Thanks.
Emitter and receiver also called ice level sensor. Its an Ir sensor that goes across the ice bin. Clean the holes with a q-tip first.
Only other thing is a bad new ice maker. Sounds like the emitter and receiver to me though. I believe there is a link in the description for it.
Bearded Appliance Repair it’s not the model with the sensor though, has the metal arm.
Good luck!
Thank you!
You’re welcome :)
I have a maytag/whirlpool refrigerator exactly the one in your video, but my problem i having is that is only making crushed ice no ice cubes coming out. There's ice on the bucket, and i hear the refrigerator working and making ice. Please help. Need a solution to this problem. What you think it is.
Could be the solenoid that pops the lever open for cubed ice. When you run it you should hear a pretty significant pop noise before the auger starts.
@@BeardedApplianceRepair can you share video of how to replace it?
Hi I replace the solenoid on my Maytag refrigerator, I installed it and it was working fine. Now today I noticed that now is coming out crushed and cube at the same time. What can it be.
You probably just have some ice clumped together. When you changed it out your ice probably melted and froze back together. Dump your ice bin and start over with new ice and it should work well.
I cut the ground wire, and put a connector there...
